The 1st day of my stay I told them the a/c was extremely loud and noisy - nothing done. Then the 2nd day - no hot water the 3rd day no hot water. When I asked to talk to a manager when I checked out today there was none available.

The indoor pool was shut down and in need of repair...this was not listed on the website. The hallway and elevator had a repugnat odor. The room had pool towels to use instead of bath towels. There were tiles cracked in the bathroom and there was hair stuck to the bathtub and shower wall like it hadn't been wiped down in months. The front staff were very polite and accommodating.

Hot water was out our whole stay. Absolutely unacceptable. Worse part management didn’t notify us. Found out when you got into the shower. AC leaked water everywhere. The floor was soaked!

The price for the room we stayed in was excellent. The base price before taxes and fees was only $78 and we stayed in a king suite. The beds were comfy and everything in the room seemed clean. However, there’s was hardly ever anyone at the front desk and the one staff member we met although incredibly sweet seemed to be trying to keep up with everything. My kids wanted to swim and we did but the pool didn’t seem very clean. The water was cloudy and the area around the pool was messy. The breakfast was limited especially the hot breakfast available and one staff member was running it all so things emptied quickly and you had to wait for refills. The ice machine on our floor and the one above was broken. And the next morning the female bathroom next to the pool area not working.

We had stayed there previously and it was decent for the money except we had to fight to get our deposit back, They charge a deposit plus charge for the room with the pretense that you will get your deposit back within 10 days. This last time the pool was closed because it was extremely disgusting. The key card didn’t work and we had to go back to the front desk where they brought a machine to hook up to the door to open it. I’m not sure about the cleanliness of the room but when we asked for toilet paper we thought we were going to have to go to target and buy some. They finally gave us toilet paper right before checkout. Every time I see an add for this hotel I’m reminded what a dump it is. We stayed in April and June. I had a reservation for July that I cancelled.

The pool was drained and we were not notified ( 4 kids not happy ). Our 1st room the locks on the door wouldn’t let us in. The front desk staff had to come up and they had issues getting in the room also, once we were able to get in the room it was dirty and sticky, the pull out couch was ripped and did not pull out, the bathroom door didn’t lock and you couldn’t use it anyway as the toilet seat was hanging off. I went downstairs to ask for another room. There was not one available to fit all of us so we had to get two one parent in each room with two children. Those rooms were just as bad if not worse! The bed in one of the rooms was completely broken. I slept with towels as my sheets because the bed looked like it had been slept in. In the morning we went down for breakfast and shocker everything down there was broken too the juice dispenser didn’t even work. We left obviously. The only good thing there was Lillian, the woman from the front staff who checked us in and helped us through our one night journey.

I could not use my door key to get in my room. The lady said they would get somebody to fix it. I went back 5 times to get a key then the guy tells me the key doesn't work in that room. He said that I have to come to the front desk every time I need to get in. He has to let me in with his key. Thats unacceptable so I told him I want a refund.

Our room had not been cleaned. The bathroom was dirty, has no towels, and the bedsheets were unwashed. In addition, when we booked the hotel room it said there was a pool, however it's closed for renovations.

When we checked in they obviously had not cleaned our room besides making the beds. The furniture was dusty and worn out. There were stains on the carpets, carpets were not vacuumed, toe nail clippings on the floor, and body hair in the shower. The hotel store was basically empty, and the swimming pool was being "refilled". When we complained the staff did clean another room for us and we moved it the new room. The new one was clean and we just ignored the cigarette smell even though it is a smoke free hotel. The staff were nice but this place needs a full overhaul.

Very Very dirty. Dust on lamps, headbands. Tables sticky. Tub dirty, blood on bathroom floor carpet not vacuumed refrigerator dirty and the TV isn't working. I wouldn't stay bere again.

The hotel had changed hands since I made my reservation and they didn’t have me in the system. Our room had possibly cockroaches in the bathroom, we never turned off the light so they wouldn’t come out.

The hotel smelled terrible, especially the elevator and our floor (3rd). The sheets/blankets were damp on our arrival. The breakfast area was less than clean and option were very limited. There were two of the smallest unmatched towels for 3 people and the bar of soap was a sliver.

Room at first glance looked clean but floors were sticky, bathroom floor dirty and fixtures hadn’t been cleaned well. Key card system not working properly. Had to change cards every day when I came back to hotel. Breakfast was passable but juice machine was down and no drinking water out for the meal. Grounds were being worked on so out walking a dog was hard. Has gone downhill since I was there last November.

This was the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty sticky carpet, wet around the refrigerator, rings on the night stands, dust on the head board, dirty with dead bugs on window sill, holes in curtains, dirt in drawers, sofa was dirty and stained. We complained and the manager said he would give us points and a discount but that never happened. Initially our card key did not work so he had to come to the room and fix it. We showed him the carpet but he didn’t seem to really care. We asked for another room and he had none available. There was only one bath towel and no washcloths. They gave us wash cloths but said they had no towels until the next morning when housekeeping came in. It was the worst experience we’ve had a hotel. The hotel was decent over all but 2 of my 3 room keys did not work n the 3rd one stopped working after 3 uses. The hall ways were worked over pretty good n my door knob/lock was falling off my room door. My TV didnt work. Tho, Beds were comfortable w clean sheets.

Overall the hotel is clean. The room we were in was not as clean as one would expect. There were sticky spots on the floor and what I hope is spilled coffee splashed on the wall near the couch. The beds are rock hard and not very comfortable.

This hote had a lot of problems. Upon entering, I noticed the automatic doors didn’t shut properly, obviously needing repairs. The elevator was creaky, slow, and felt unsafe as it didn’t feel very secure. When we got to the hallway, I noticed lots of areas on the walls were missing siding, and/or had parts of siding hanging loosely off of the wall. Inside our room, the bathroom door didn’t lock, and the TV didn’t work. For the last two conditions, we requested a different room at the front desk, and this is when things went more positively. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and very gracious, and offered us a different room with a working TV and locking bathroom door, which we really appreciated. The factors I know LaQuinta cannot have helped were some noisy neighbors in other rooms, when we heard some repeated banging, which I believe were doors being closed late at night. Also, (again, not LaQuinta’s fault) the nearest restaurant (Burger King) was extremely dirty, very poorly run, and didn’t have fries when we went there in the evening (a little after 7:00), which seems impossible for a burger place to not have. Overall, staff was wonderful, but the facility needs a LOT of work.

Upon arrival to our room (around 4:30) our smoke detector was beeping. We walked down to the desk and let the person know, he stated that it was probably the battery and he would be right there. We returned to the room to unpack and my daughter used the bathroom, when she washed her hands the sink stopper was down and it was not connected so the sink would not drain. We unpacked and were in the room about 45 minutes and no one from the desk came to fix the smoke detector. We were going to Kings Dominion for Halloween Haunt so we got ready and as we were leaving there was another lady at the desk, we told her about the smoke detector and the sink, she said she would take care of it. We proceeded over to the park until about 11:30, I was hoping all would be fixed when were arrived back, and it was, thankfully! We went to bed, however the air conditioner was extremely loud and the walls were very thin, I could hear the room next to us in the morning as their alarm went off as well as every conversation in the hall as if they were standing next to me in the room. At breakfast in the morning, which was very slim. My daughter got a yogurt and a bagel. There was no packages of cream cheese and the jelly/PB was is big bottles from the grocery store. That is completely unsanitary, you have no idea what was done to do it prior to your use. Walking back to our room since there was no room in the breakfast area to sit, a bug flew out of the bagel. Also no fridge in room.

This hotel was perfect for our family's visit to Kings Dominion. Its literally right acrossed the road. You can see the park tower from the hotel. The room was super comfortable and clean. Breakfast got the job done. My college student son loved the coffee bar that was complementary 24-hrs/ day. There was even cookies at Check-in. I highly recommend.

we spent one night. The carpets are terrible, the furniture old, the sofa bed unusable because the springs were coming out of the mattress and there was the smell that came with it combined with the extreme smell of chlorine from the swimming pool which smelled all the way to the first floors.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was typical (eggs, bacon, cereal etc) and hot coffee was available 24hrs. The walls were a bit thin, and the bed was a bit lumpy but not too bad. It was clean and overall a pleasant experience. Right across the street from Kings Dominion.

We arrived around 5:30; they hadn't finished cleaning our room. The suite was spacious, but dated, and smelled musty. The carpets were kind of gross to walk on in bare feet, although the condition of the suite itself was relatively clean. Honestly the price was great and staff only gets bad rating do to 1 bad apple Lillian at the front desk bad for business she should be on laundry duty considering theres never any towels other 2 ladys and guy was actually very nice was happy to see them when i actually needed something.

Reservation was booked under La Quinta and all follow up reservation details were labeled as La Quinta. Upon arrival there was no La Quinta. The hotel changed a couple of years ago but still booked reservations under La Quinta. They did not have my original reservation but was able to get me a room. The room was not comparable to the suite we originally reserved but the staff was as helpful as they could be. The room was a decent size but there was food on the floors, hair on the bathroom, TV worked intermittently and the bedding seemed damp.

I understand it's a transition period so I'll temper my comments. Check in was a disaster as the reservation wasn't in their system and they needed to use my phone to help find it. I was billed for three days rather than two. When I called to update the reservation it was very difficult as I could not understand the other person on the line. Doors were left open showing where the renovations were taking place but the mess presented both safety and health hazards. Chances are I will not be returning.

Once for a non-working bathroom light, then into a room with a door fob that didn’t work (dead battery after multiple trips with new keys AND after having been let in initially by management so we were all unpacked) then finally, black hair all over the bed in final room and another non-working light. We ended up checking out and requesting a refund. We were informed a renovation may be occurring in the near future so it may improve…?

The assistant manager is a nightmare she is so rude and has zero customer service skills,she rolls her eyes a lot and overall not a nice person. The manager is very friendly he genuinely cares about his guests. The rest of the staff were ok but the manager was the best. The 3rd floor halls smelled so good. Our room smelled good as well. Our air conditioner leaked in the floor and our refrigerator didn’t work but they brought a new refrigerator up as soon as I reported. The maintenance guy was at my room waiting for me when I reported the air conditioner leak very quick response to any issues. I would recommend this hotel and avoid the assistant manager if you have an issue go to the Main manager.

I could not use my door key to get in my room. The lady said they would get somebody to fix it. I went back 5 times to get a key then the guy tells me the key doesn't work in that room. He said that I have to come to the front desk every time I need to get in. He has to let me in with his key. Thats unacceptable so I told him I want a refund.

Right across the street from kings dominion. It’s an “ okay” hotel. It’s decent and clean, service is good. The pullout bed was super uncomfortable, the pool only allows 8 people in it at a time & it didn’t seem very well up kept, the breakfast was okay.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was. comfortable and room was clean enough. However, we were near the pool and the room smelled overwhelmingly of chlorine. The floor was tiled, no carpets. The chair in the room was filthy. Extremely few dining options in area. Except for a Mexican restaurant, one would have had to drive another six miles for a restaurant.

This hotel was perfect for our family's visit to Kings Dominion. Its literally right acrossed the road. You can see the park tower from the hotel. The room was super comfortable and clean. Breakfast got the job done. My college student son loved the coffee bar that was complementary 24-hrs/ day. There was even cookies at Check-in. I highly recommend.

The walls were a bit thin, and the bed was a bit lumpy but not too bad. It was clean and overall a pleasant experience. Right across the street from Kings Dominion.

Everything was as I expected but we were really disappointed that the pool was closed throughout our entire stay. The employees that we spoke with were all friendly and we had a great stay while visiting Kings Dominion.

The room temp was good. The A/C responded well. The breakfast was not so good. The coffee machine would only dispense hot water. By 8 a.m. most of the food was gone. The sausage that was left was cold. There was cereal but no milk. In the bathroom the tub stopper did not work so the tub would fill up with water when trying to take a shower. The front desk staff was excellent.

Upon arrival to our room (around 4:30) our smoke detector was beeping. We walked down to the desk and let the person know, he stated that it was probably the battery and he would be right there. We returned to the room to unpack and my daughter used the bathroom, when she washed her hands the sink stopper was down and it was not connected so the sink would not drain. We unpacked and were in the room about 45 minutes and no one from the desk came to fix the smoke detector. We were going to Kings Dominion for Halloween Haunt so we got ready and as we were leaving there was another lady at the desk, we told her about the smoke detector and the sink, she said she would take care of it. We proceeded over to the park until about 11:30, I was hoping all would be fixed when were arrived back, and it was, thankfully! We went to bed, however the air conditioner was extremely loud and the walls were very thin, I could hear the room next to us in the morning as their alarm went off as well as every conversation in the hall as if they were standing next to me in the room. At breakfast in the morning, which was very slim. My daughter got a yogurt and a bagel. There was no packages of cream cheese and the jelly/PB was is big bottles from the grocery store. That is completely unsanitary, you have no idea what was done to do it prior to your use. Walking back to our room since there was no room in the breakfast area to sit, a bug flew out of the bagel. Also no fridge in room.

The price for the room we stayed in was excellent. The base price before taxes and fees was only $78 and we stayed in a king suite. The beds were comfy and everything in the room seemed clean. However, there’s was hardly ever anyone at the front desk and the one staff member we met although incredibly sweet seemed to be trying to keep up with everything. My kids wanted to swim and we did but the pool didn’t seem very clean. The water was cloudy and the area around the pool was messy. The breakfast was limited especially the hot breakfast available and one staff member was running it all so things emptied quickly and you had to wait for refills. The ice machine on our floor and the one above was broken. And the next morning the female bathroom next to the pool area not working.

Staff were excellent. Overall good stay for being close to kings dominion. The picture online was misleading since it showed a hot tub. Hotel has neither a pool or hot tub. You have to check amenities tab for clarification. No remote and broken cable for the particular room i had. Hotel does need some work.

We were greatly disappointed in our stay at Garner Hotel Doswell. When we arrived we checked in and we were not informed that the elevator was out of service. They have 3 flights and people coming in with baggage. Not to mention people who have handicaps were put in very inconvenient positions. They also were very low in staff and their other amenities were less than stellar.

The room was once again excellent very clean I did have to get sheets for the pull out couch cuz there was none but that was not a big deal complimentary breakfast was wonderful higher than my expectation. The only issue I had with this trip was the elevator was down and we were stuck on the third floor so we had to walk up two sets of stairs to get to our room no matter if we had to go to the car come back from Kings Dominion or go down for breakfast
