Okay hotel. But not ideal for families, as kids under 16 not allowed into pool area. Basically its an adult hotel and you have to pay extra for facilities. Nice place to stay as a couple though.

Stayed regularly previously. Had a gift voucher for afternoon tea. We always loved the pool but it was difficult with the new policies- guests now pay a staggering £25 each to use the pool but they also get less access than day visitors having a spa - access at 7 am till 9 am ( on holiday !!) or in the evening - made it difficult to fit in afternoon tea ( which we previously would have done on day of departure) and dinner ! Had to leave spa early ( after paying £25 for two hours ) to run to dinner as dining room closing !

Pool closed with no prior warning given. Had to pay to upgrade to get a bath in room. Overall staff were ok but did not really empathise or care about the pool not being open and the effect it had on our stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay. The executive room was lovely and had a river view. The only downside of that was when the spa opened you could hear voices outside, especially when the spa opens early in the morning. The shower was great and bed really comfy. Breakfast in the hotel was good. They do continental help yourself and order the hot food and tea/coffee. The first morning we did wait quite a long time to order and noticed others who came in after us ordered and received their food before we ordered and it wasn’t too busy. The 2nd day we ordered quickly and received our food quickly so wasn’t a regular thing with the slow service. The spa was lovely too having been done up. The outdoor is great and indoor relaxing, the indoor pool was a little cold though! We did have messages also which were lovely. I would return again, I would just be prepared for the colder indoor pool and allocate longer for breakfast.

This was our third time staying at the Gleddoch, but the first time since it’s has its spa upgrade (which now comes at a £25pp additional cost). We had 2 rooms booked for bed and breakfast. There is no use of the spa, which includes the pool that was previously included in a standard stay, for anyone under 16. Not great considering we have 3 kids under 16. None of this information was available before booking. We ate in the vista restaurant, as we have in the past, and felt that the standards have also slipped… Additionally, the whole hotel now operates a “cashless only” policy. I personally don’t agree with this position. We also didn’t sleep great. The breakfast was ok. We travel a lot, both in and out of the UK. We stay in a lot of 4&5* hotels as a family, and the Gleddoch used to be ones of our favourites in the area, apart from the Cameron House. Now, the price per night isn’t much cheaper than the Cameron house, and it has less amenities for a family like us than it did last year. I feel that the recent changes are a backward step for the casual family hotel guests like us… We wont be staying again any time soon.

The stay at Gleddoch was average. I had stayed previously but this time with the spa renovation it is not included in the price of the overnight and it also does not allow under 16s which as a family with a baby meant we couldn’t use the facilities at all.

Nice stay again, staff very helpful. We had a lovely room, exactly as we'd hoped. We did have a couple of issues - had to ask for the duvet to be changed as it was a single size on a queen bed, but this was done quickly. I had real problems with in-house Wi-Fi. We were on room only, but had drinks and dinner one night in The Nineteenth which we enjoyed. Pool area was very busy when we were there, with people leaving wet towels everywhere and 'saving' chairs and beds that we nerver saw anyone using, suggest staff check/ clear the pool area more often. Sauna wasnt working but we weren't told this. Still like the hotel and the area, it might be a while but we will be back.

Booked the executive room as a romantic escape from chaotic work shedules. Despite this the room was smaller than expected, had 2 beds pushed together as opposed to the king advertised, lacked any elemis toiletries, did not have a view of the clyde estuary or the golf course & did not have a bath. I am still left clueless as to what features of an executive room were provided. Tried to highlight this to reception after checking in, however was informed it was an executive room despite my concerns. The receptionist then glared at me until i walked away. In addition to this I had an allergic reaction the entire time I was in the stuffy room. I have few common allergies. One being dustmites… The common areas were dirty with dried grass & dead bugs on the floor walking up to breakfast. The decor tired looking (peeling wallpaper & crack's) with a cheap looking painted facelift. Nothing was clean on closer inspection (around the pool had had a bare minimum effort mop missing all the nooks and crannies, bins in pool toilets had dried blood smeared down them). On the other hand, the spa was excellent & breakfast & waiting staff were lovely. :)

Gleddoch promised first class facilities and I'm sorry to say that the experience fell a bit flat for us. Whilst it's clear that once upon a time the hotel was a luxurious resort, certain things just weren't up to the mark and didn't justify the price tag. Our room was lovely & spacious. However, there were several broken/damaged amenities including a big crack across the wardrobe mirror. In the bathroom the toilet roll holder, towel hook and towel rail were all broken/hanging off the wall and the sanitary bag dispenser covered in dust. We spent some time in the spa and the outdoor thermal pool is a wonderful asset. However, the changing rooms were run down with ripped wallpaper/chipped paint everywhere and discarded towels/dressing gowns all over the place. The shower cubicles had visible Rawl plugs all over the tiles. When asked if there were mocktails available we were told that we could be made anything. Therefore, spotting a cocktail on the menu that included an elderflower syrup I asked for a non-alcoholic elderflower spritz only to then be told they couldn't do that. After settling on a tonic water, the glass it was presented in was dirty. Our meal itself was lovely and we have no complaints regarding the food. However, service was a bit all over the place. We spent over £300 and felt a bit cheated. I don't feel it is fair for you to charge those kinds of prices when you haven't maintained the standard of accommodation or level of service you advertise.

Staff are amazing. Breakfast not warm or plentiful. Poor choice. Didn't get into room until after 4.Room was not hoovered no sosp. Sheets were holed. Carpet stained. Not what I expect from a 4 star.

This was my first visit to this hotel, and I had high expectations because my family had stayed here a couple of years ago and had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, my visit was not enjoyable. 1. We traveled from Canada to stay here, and on the day we arrived, there was no power. The staff were waiting for generators to arrive, which meant there were no lights, no restaurant service, and no access to the spa. 2. Two years ago, children were allowed to use the pool. My 6-year-old niece was overwhelmingly excited to swim, but now the spa is adults-only and requires a fee for access. Kids are not allowed at all, even with an adult present. 3. I paid to upgrade my room for a view of the Clyde River. However, when I got to my room, the view was of the parking lot and a corner of the golf course. They did switch my room, but it wasn't worth the upgrade. 4. There are no elevators in this hotel, so I had to carry my 50-pound suitcase up three flights of stairs. 5. The rooms are dated and extremely hot, even when it’s cold outside. I kept the window open and used a fan during the entire nine-day stay. 6. Housekeeping did not clean well. After requesting a room clean, by day four, there were rings forming in the toilet because it had not been cleaned properly. They also did not vacuum regularly, and all the floors are carpeted. The only positive aspect of my stay was that the outdoor grounds were well kept and very nice. Regrettably, I will not stay heled as adults-only

We arrived on a hot day and the room was absolutely roasting, no air conditioning so we had to sleep on top of bed with the windows open. I had asked for a quiet room but our room overlooked the carpark where cars were arriving from 6am! The room across from ours had a dog in it and it barked every time owners left room. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was nice but overpriced and when in for breakfast the floor was disgusting, crumbs everehere. We booked this hotel as a treat as i turned 60 when there . Couldn't be bothered to complain when checking out as it was my birthday and just wanted to get away quick

Booked this soley to use the spa to be told after booking the facilitates were being refurbished i had to contact the hotel to find this out no one told me. The first room was dangerous a table not fit for purpose with a coffee machine on it and i had asd children with me if you looked at the table the wrong way it would have collapsed not to mention the beside tables NOT fit for purpose, i was then moved room to find the lamp on the beside table snapped shade hanging off bathroom sink all cracked shower head and holder covered in green mildew i had given up by this point slept and left as early as i could for the price this is nothing short of a disgrace ive stayed in better travel lodges for 29 quid the only positive thing i have to say is how lovely natalie on reception was a credit to the gleddoch just a shame that what i actually paid for i didnt get and the disrepair and cleanliness in the rooms is beyond me had to move the bed to get one of my wee boys and very apparent they hadnt been moved to clean under them probably since the beds where put there absolutely disgusting and other peoples belongings absolutely shocking
Booked this soley to use the spa to be told after booking the facilitates were being refurbished i had to contact the hotel to find this out no one told me. The first room was dangerous a table not fit for purpose with a coffee machine on it and i had asd children with me if you looked at the table the wrong way it would have collapsed not to mention the beside tables NOT fit for purpose, i was then moved room to find the lamp on the beside table snapped shade hanging off bathroom sink all cracked shower head and holder covered in green mildew i had given up by this point slept and left as early as i could for the price this is nothing short of a disgrace ive stayed in better travel lodges for 29 quid the only positive thing i have to say is how lovely natalie on reception was a credit to the gleddoch just a shame that what i actually paid for i didnt get and the disrepair and cleanliness in the rooms is beyond me had to move the bed to get one of my wee boys and very apparent they hadnt been moved to clean under them probably since the beds where put there absolutely disgusting and other peoples belongings absolutely shocking

This hotel is in a good location with views over the Clyde to the hills beyond. However the hotel need some urgent attention, the entrance and other areas of the hotel need a coat of pain and/or maintenance work, other areas of the hotel need cleaning especially the carpets. In the renovated parts of the hotel the decor is way over the top. The spa / pool area could also benefit from updating. This is not a four star hotel in my estimation.

Friendly staff, access to room convoluted and already showing heavy use. Room clean but partially worn, very basic. No fridge. Access to airport is superior!! Breakfast buffet is a large selection. If you are into Spa environments, Spa would be a overstatement for a pool, a worn cold and wet Fin-Sauna, a steam room. Showers can not adjust, change rooms are with lockers, only one towel per guest (which explains the smelly wet Sauna).

My wife and I were in room 43 and because of Air Conditioning Units outside our bedroom window we did not sleep due to the noise of them. The room wasn’t cheap and this spoilt our stay.

This was my first visit to this hotel, and I had high expectations because my family had stayed here a couple of years ago and had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, my visit was not enjoyable. 1. We traveled from Canada to stay here, and on the day we arrived, there was no power. The staff were waiting for generators to arrive, which meant there were no lights, no restaurant service, and no access to the spa. 2. Two years ago, children were allowed to use the pool. My 6-year-old niece was overwhelmingly excited to swim, but now the spa is adults-only and requires a fee for access. Kids are not allowed at all, even with an adult present. 3. I paid to upgrade my room for a view of the Clyde River. However, when I got to my room, the view was of the parking lot and a corner of the golf course. They did switch my room, but it wasn't worth the upgrade. 4. There are no elevators in this hotel, so I had to carry my 50-pound suitcase up three flights of stairs. 5. The rooms are dated and extremely hot, even when it’s cold outside. I kept the window open and used a fan during the entire nine-day stay. 6. Housekeeping did not clean well. After requesting a room clean, by day four, there were rings forming in the toilet because it had not been cleaned properly. They also did not vacuum regularly, and all the floors are carpeted. The only positive aspect of my stay was that the outdoor grounds were well kept and very nice. Regrettably, I will not stay heled as adults-only

The spa was absolutely amazing however it is not clear on hotels.com that this is not included in your stay, it is an extra £25 each which is disappointing to not be included. The room was quite small and needs renovated/TLC with chipped furniture etc. The room was very hot with no AC but when we opened the window we struggled to sleep due to a very noisy fan generator thing outside of our window. Overall I would come back because of the spa being so good.

We had a good stay. The food was excellent, really impressive. The views are excellent and the hotel was ok. I really expected more to be honest. Just a standard hotel. No air con so the room was absolutely toasting. Really uncomfortable during the night. No fridge in the room either. With such an amazing location I was surprised that there was no paths for a walk around to see the views. No pavements to walk on at all just the road. Overall a bit dated hotel with cracking food and service.

The only downside of that was when the spa opened you could hear voices outside, especially when the spa opens early in the morning. The shower was great and bed really comfy. Breakfast in the hotel was good. They do continental help yourself and order the hot food and tea/coffee. The first morning we did wait quite a long time to order and noticed others who came in after us ordered and received their food before we ordered and it wasn’t too busy. The 2nd day we ordered quickly and received our food quickly so wasn’t a regular thing with the slow service. The spa was lovely too having been done up. The outdoor is great and indoor relaxing, the indoor pool was a little cold though! We did have messages also which were lovely. I would return again, I would just be prepared for the colder indoor pool and allocate longer for breakfast.

We arrived on a hot day and the room was absolutely roasting, no air conditioning so we had to sleep on top of bed with the windows open. I had asked for a quiet room but our room overlooked the carpark where cars were arriving from 6am! The room across from ours had a dog in it and it barked every time owners left room. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was nice but overpriced and when in for breakfast the floor was disgusting, crumbs everehere. We booked this hotel as a treat as i turned 60 when there . Couldn't be bothered to complain when checking out as it was my birthday and just wanted to get away quick

Gleddoch hotel and grounds are beautiful. Room was great and perhaps the biggest bed we've ever seen. The only thing that let it down was there was no phone signal or Wi-Fi in our room, so if we were in the room we were completely uncontacable, which isn't ideal at all.

Great stay, lovely hotel. Restaurant was a bit pricey though, we ordered room service the first night and it came half an hour later. £18 for a cold cheese burger that was covered in caramelised onion (menu didn't state it would be). Television in the room was very old, no netflix or on demand services. We didn't go to lie around watching TV but it would of been nice to have the option of watching a movie. Other than that great stay and lovely location

Very disappointing. At over £600 for two nights, we expected much more. The room itself was quite nice at first, but there was a wedding on directly below us until 1am. There is absolutely no soundproofing and loud was an understatement. We were not informed of this beforehand. The complimentary shower gel etc was also half used/ in tiny bottles and not enough for one shower. Spa facilities were average and very busy and the changing room was also quite dirty at around 6pm when we used it. The restaurant is quite pricy and the quality of food didn’t justify the cost. The restaurant staff however were all lovely. The evening receptionists were quite ambivalent and the level of service was not fitting of a high-end hotel. The management the next day were however quite helpful and offered a small refund. First time we’ve ever complained after a hotel stay. We’ve left very disappointed indeed. The hotel has the potential to be fantastic, but it doesn’t live up to that.

Checking in was great due to mobility issues had to change rooms, not a problem. Had a delicious afternoon tea and great visit to the spa. I received a phone call from my friend to ask if I got her gift of a bottle of bubbles. Sad to tell her that I hadn’t. However 20 mins later a knock on the door and the manager with the bottle and an apology. Sorry to say dinner took forever and mums burger was cremated and sent back. I do have to praise highly the front of house, restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff as they were amazing!!

Room was very nice and Rebecca on reception was fantastic too. The only down side was the service it took for ever to get drinks and for food. The wait staff were very apologetic Hu is lovely. I was in room 1 and it was missing a hair dryer.

Service was pretty poor ( not from staff though), no access to outdoor areas or bar service on a hot summer day as the hotel was hosting a major football team and these areas were reserved for the sole use of the football players. We and other guests were advised that most of the bar / outside areas were not open until 5pm. This was for a special birthday gift and was so disappointing as this is an expensive hotel to stay in. Staff were mostly understanding and apologetic but we felt that the football team were definitely viewed as more important than we were. Not a good experience. Manager took a bit off the bill which was fine but I would rather have enjoyed the experience and service we had expected.

At in superb grounds and a golf course, as you drive up the long entrance road and look at the view over the Firth of Clyde you will be delighted. Checkin was quick and the team there extremely helpful. Comfortable room and bed only thing missing is air conditioning as it was a warm night. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with plenty of choice. Due to the amount of stairs and no lift (elevator for the Americans) to get to the rooms I suspect it’s not accessible to all but there may be rooms on the ground floor which are. All in all a good place to stay and the staff are excellent.

Beautifully situated overlooking the Clyde estuary. Very comfortable and staff attentive and friendly. The accommodation and dining facilities are spread out along winding corridors and flights of stairs making going for a drink etc a bit of an expedition! Great pool and Spa - wish we'd had more time to use them. Breakfast was very good however, Vegan and Vegetarian options were not laid out, and a menu with Veggie breakfast was not offered. Only found out about it afterwards. Overall, an enjoyable but a little pricey overnight stay.

Propert sits high on a hill with a view over the Clyde to Dumbarton rock and beyond .Amazing views. golf course on site . Great dining with good choice of food. Lovely rooms either looking over the golf course or out to the Clyde. Spa facilities excellent. All round great experience !!

Nice hotel but a bit rough around the edges, room could do with a refresh. Carpets were stained and wallpaper peeling. 'Hot' breafast was cold despite being in warm dishes. Wasnt expecting to be charged £50 on arrival incase i wanted room service, surely if i wanted to order something you could just bring a card reader to the room? No phone signal and wifi was terrible.

This beautiful hotel would benefit from having a ‘Scottish ‘theme to it . Obviously this is just a personal view, but its attempt to modernise has removed the authentic character of the building. The dining room felt rather like a school dining room with tables lined up in exact straight rows. No table cloths, no curtains, just blinds which made the room very noisy & rather unwelcoming.
This beautiful hotel would benefit from having a ‘Scottish ‘theme to it . Obviously this is just a personal view, but its attempt to modernise has removed the authentic character of the building. The dining room felt rather like a school dining room with tables lined up in exact straight rows. No table cloths, no curtains, just blinds which made the room very noisy & rather unwelcoming.

Beautiful location. Stunning views. Good food. Bar could be stocked a bit better but unsure if this was because we stayed On a Monday and it had been very busy at weekend. Pool and spa was very Clean and tidy. Very relaxing. Breakfast could have been hotter was all slightly on the cold side bacon, sausage etc. No fried eggs. Good selection of continental items. Tasty bread and croissants. Staff quick to serve tea and coffees. Staff were brilliant. Good atmosphere. Reception was quick and Easy. Room was massive. But there was no fuse in coffee machine but I didn’t bother to call reception as I had coffee at breakfast. Would stay again and recommend to friends and family members.

We had a good stay. The food was excellent, really impressive. The views are excellent and the hotel was ok. I really expected more to be honest. Just a standard hotel. No air con so the room was absolutely toasting. Really uncomfortable during the night. No fridge in the room either. With such an amazing location I was surprised that there was no paths for a walk around to see the views. No pavements to walk on at all just the road. Overall a bit dated hotel with cracking food and service.

My husband and I were looking forward to a nice break but unfortunately the hotel didn’t meet our expectations. Disappointed in the rooms, breakfast is buffet style but everything was lukewarm, dinner menu wasn’t great. We didn’t feel it was 4 star quality. So disappointed.

Gorgeous views, great service. Grounds are well kept. The staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Food in the restaurant was excellent and spoilt for choice.

I had ordered a bottle of wine for my stay and never received it. I was never told that to access the pool you not only has to pay £25/person and have designated time slots but you can only go to the indoor pool if you’re 16 yrs and older. The restaurant is very posh and EXPENSIVE. Very limited in food options for families with kids. It was nice but I wouldn’t go back. 3 dinners, 3 drinks £118?! Ridiculous.

This is a very nice hotel with a lovely spa, although perhaps it should be included in the price of the room as that is standard in equivalent properties we’ve stayed in. Otherwise, a luxurious hotel and I would recommend it.

We loved our stay here. The check in staff were great - so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and very quick service. We booked this hotel for the spa as we were just looking for a night away to chill so the location was perfect. The view from the jacuzzi and sauna was so nice overlooking the Firth of Clyde (I think! 🙈😂😍). The only minor thing was after I booked I got notification that we could book the spa for a 2 hour period at a charge of £25 each - I should have realised with it being an actual spa hotel rather than one with a pool and sauna that there would be a restriction/charge and I probably hadn’t read the description properly but to be honest it was worth every penny. Another minor issue was that we could hear every person passing our room at night - not a big deal for us but maybe would be for others. Room was a really good size and was lovely and cosy. Would definitely stay again.

For the price there are much better options in the area, namely Mar Hall. The bedroom was small akin to a cupboard. It was so small there wasn’t space for two bedside tables and the view from the room was shocking (aircon units) not as promised on the website. It was also warm with no aircon option, despite the view. Not what you expect for £250 per night! I’d question how the bedroom passed fire regulations given the absence of space to get around the far side of the bed. For the overall grounds and spa were lovely, but best for a day visit rather than the expense of an overnight stay.
