I was there on a conference - the hotel is not like a 4 star hotel. 2 little bottles of water on the first day only - empty minibar. The bar is closed in the evening, the pool and terrace are closed. the breakfast with a disgusting coffee. It is incredibly loud - it is like sleeping on the motorway. I would never stay there again.

Excellent choice on both meal and breakfast menus. Rooms are really large. En suite is amazing. Unfortunate no tea and coffee facilities in room. Brilliant for overnight stay. Would probably be good for longer stays too as the swimming pool looked excellent

Helpful staff, east check-in even tho we were early, also facilitated an extended checkout til 2pm as ferry was delayed. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom with full bath plus separate shower. Basic toiletries but adequate. Good location if shopping’s your thing, IKEA, Decathlon, El Corte Ingles….& lots more. We had paid for onsite parking but there’s lots of free parking behind the hotel.

Clean hotel next to the exhibition centre and convenient for a trip to Bilbao on the metro and easy drive to ferry port. Downside was the size of the pool area for the number of rooms.

Where to start? Ok...we had several choices for hotels in Bilbao but chose Hotel Puerta for 3 nights because their main selling feature was a functional outdoor pool, which my daughters wanted to use, especially since the weather was nice. The pool was in great condition but closed to public 'until end of June'. No reason given. We could not cancel or shorten our stay because it was booked via Expedia, apparently. Parking is terrible. There's no loading area in front of the lobby and directions send you to the back in a nearby parking area. Parking itself requires a lengthy route back to the front street, a 2 minute drive to a roundabout, doubling back, taking another roundabout well past the hotel, and then making a left down a back street to the parkade, which is 17 Euros/day. Make sure you give them your licence plate (even if a rental) because they will make your return to have the privilege of parking with them. They issue a piece of paper with a scannable code for the length of your stay -it's far more complicated than it needs to be. Staff were not helpful at all and were mostly rude. It was as if we were an inconvenience and they forgot they work in the service industry. Front desk folks would pass responsibilities to others rather than taking care. I asked for a space to work since the rooms are small and they said I could only rent a space for 50 Euros. Expect to pay for absolutely everything and expect terrible service, especially if you speak English.

L'hôtel n'est pas mal en soi mais le fait d'être passé par le site Hotels fait que sur place tout est plus cher : l'accès à la salle de sport est donc à 10€,le parking passe de 7.5€ a 15€ par jour juste parce que la réservation n'a pas été faite directement par leur site c'est vraiment dommage !!

We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel Puerta de Bilbao. It was a good base to explore the city. Our triple room on the seventh floor was comfortable, and having a bath and separate shower cubicle was useful. The reception team were friendly and helpful. Our daughter loved the pool.

The drains in the shower/bath stink! The whole room smells of toilet/drain smell. The drains in the shower and bath are clean so it must be the central drains of the hotel. I had to stuff towels down the drain to stop the room stinking. Also the hot breakfast was cold! Every day, cold. There are no hot plates under the hot food and the heat lamps above are too high. I complained one day, the chef made me fresh hot eggs but it was the same the day after and day after that (stayed for 4 nights). These things need sorting out, its not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. The staff were very friendy and helpful which was great. The hotel was nice apart from the 2 things i just mentioned. Parking is 15 euro a night which is not mentioned on the listing!! So be aware. However, parking outside is free but you'll be lucky to find a space so its worth paying it in my experience.

Tuve 4 habitaciones, Reserva de empresa, y todas sin excepción, del baño salía un odor insoportable. Las habitaciones, remodeladas, están mal y viejas, pero lo peor, el baño, no se puede uno duchar del olor tan desagradable que desprende el desagüe de la ducha. Si les cobran mas de 50 euros la noche, recomiendo buscar otro hotel. La única razón para ir a este hotel es por que tengaís que ir al BEC o por que estais de paso.

Recomendable si vas a ir al BEC, ya que se tardan poco más de diez minutos. Las habitaciones son amplias y están limpias. Me pareció que deberían cuidar más la calidad de las sábanas, estaban bastante ásperas. No suelo fijarme en este detalle pero no me resultó agradable.

Brilliant location. Room had a mini bar and was spacious. If coming over from Uk/Ireland, don’t expect Tea/Coffee in the room, that not a done thing in most Spanish hotels. Staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t have been more accommodating

Although the hotel is about 10km from downtown Bilbao, we had a car and could drive back and forth. What I thought was uncomfortable was the sliding glass bathroom door, right next to the headboard of the bed. One person couldn’t go to the bathroom and turn on the light without getting the other person fully awake. Zero provacy

I was on the 7th floor of the hotel and had a great view. The staff were exemplary - very professional and very helpful. I could not fault it. Added benefits - a separate shower to a bath; very spacious room; complementary water; quiet.

I asked for a space to work since the rooms are small and they said I could only rent a space for 50 Euros. Expect to pay for absolutely everything and expect terrible service, especially if you speak English.

Ok...we had several choices for hotels in Bilbao but chose Hotel Puerta for 3 nights because their main selling feature was a functional outdoor pool, which my daughters wanted to use, especially since the weather was nice. The pool was in great condition but closed to public 'until end of June'. No reason given. We could not cancel or shorten our stay because it was booked via Expedia, apparently. Parking is terrible. There's no loading area in front of the lobby and directions send you to the back in a nearby parking area. Brilliant location. Room had a mini bar and was spacious. If coming over from Uk/Ireland, don’t expect Tea/Coffee in the room, that not a done thing in most Spanish hotels. Staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t have been more accommodating

I was there on a conference - the hotel is not like a 4 star hotel. 2 little bottles of water on the first day only - empty minibar. The bar is closed in the evening, the pool and terrace are closed. the breakfast with a disgusting coffee. It is incredibly loud - it is like sleeping on the motorway. I would never stay there again.

El hotel es un hotel de 4 estrellas ochentero total. Por los pasillos que dan acceso a las habitaciones solo faltan las niñas de "El Resplandor" cosa que lo hace muy atractivo por la emocion. El servicio de desayuno es una pasada y el cafe está riquísimo. En pocos lugares he tomado un café tan bueno. Es un hotel al que volvería sin dudarlo.

The drains in the shower/bath stink! The whole room smells of toilet/drain smell. The drains in the shower and bath are clean so it must be the central drains of the hotel. I had to stuff towels down the drain to stop the room stinking. Also the hot breakfast was cold! Every day, cold. There are no hot plates under the hot food and the heat lamps above are too high. I complained one day, the chef made me fresh hot eggs but it was the same the day after and day after that (stayed for 4 nights). These things need sorting out, its not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. The staff were very friendy and helpful which was great. The hotel was nice apart from the 2 things i just mentioned. Parking is 15 euro a night which is not mentioned on the listing!! So be aware. However, parking outside is free but you'll be lucky to find a space so its worth paying it in my experience.

Excellent choice on both meal and breakfast menus. Rooms are really large. En suite is amazing. Unfortunate no tea and coffee facilities in room. Brilliant for overnight stay. Would probably be good for longer stays too as the swimming pool looked excellent

Godt hotel. Nem indtjekning og godt værelse nr. 722 på 7.sal. Vi spiste i restauranten kl. 19.30, som de eneste, og kunne se dem lave maden -hygiejnen i restauranten er under al kritik, der var en høj tynd mørk mand, som tog min salat etc.med hænderne uden handsker på. Da han lavede min mands dessert tog han en blå karklud og tørrede af langs tallerkenens kant for bagefter at tørre bordet af med samme karklud. Til morgenmaden var alt okey personalet brugte blå handsker.

The perfect stay before grabbing the ferry back to the UK the next day - 15 mins to the port. The room was a generous size with a great shower and the option to have a bath. We used the pool for a nice relaxing swim and ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The quality of the food was excellent. Everyone we came accross was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying again!

When we checked in the reception staff were very friendly and helpful with advice on local travel and parking in the city. Our room on the 5th floor was lovely, clean and comfortable. We had a really good breakfast and the midday check out meant no hurry. Parking garage was safe and secure with large spaces and plenty of room. A real benefit. Thanks!
