Sheets not changed and bed obviously not aseptic. Bulb burnt out. Ladder at swimming pool broken. All reported to management and they just scrugged shoulders

The website showed to have a swimming pool and on-site bar and the bar had been shut down for months and the pool was green and nasty. The floors were dirty and bugs were everywhere. It was so bad I had to leave and go to another hotel and the owner of the hotel told me too bad and would not refund me the last two days I had already paid for, and he was not nice about it

i would only book here if it’s your only option or you’re absolutely tight on money as i know it’s one of the cheaper options. went based of the reviews because they were 50/50 and the photos didn’t look bad but i would not stay here again. the bed was dirty the sheets had stains and it seems like if things aren’t used they won’t move to clean them or replace them. the bed just seems like that keep making it with the same sheets every time someone stays it felt so itchy and disgusting. the room is very spacious i’ll give it that but the floor was so dusty like they don’t vaccum or sweep. the toilet and bath tub are in such a small space it was very uncomfortable and if you’re a tall person good luck taking a shower i’m 5’2 and still had to duck for the water to reach the top of my head. my boyfriend and i needed more towels and i called the front desk and the lady was very rude. she said you have to call housekeeping i asked what their number was as it wasn’t displayed on the phone and she said you have to go out and look for them. the pool was also very green. the tv and the lamp in front of the tv did not work in the room we were given. they would flicker 24/7, and if you have littles be careful because the remote did not have a back to it super easy for a kid to grab the batteries. so yeah just beware if you’re staying in it majority of the time. we were able to suffice as we only used it to sleep but we ended up buying our own blankets and sleeping fully clothes.

The property is older and needs some repairs to be made. The pool is completely unusable. For one night this place would be okay but I would not recommend anyone stay here for more than one night.

Not a hotel. This is an single room occupancy residence that used to be a hotel but still can't sell enough monthly leases. The checkin took over 15 minutes.The kind staff gave us the best room in the house overlooking a lovely closed but algae green pool, There is no bar onsite. Lots of food and stuff nearby - which is good, you won't want to spend any more time on the property than is absolutely necessary.

The world‘s slowest check in process this hotel is dated. The pool was green.

The room was infested with cockroaches. Didn’t sleep very well because of the roacjes

I feel a moral obligation to write this review to warn others. My stay at the Stay Express in Athens, Texas, was the most horrifying and unsafe hotel experience of my life. This place is not just bad; it is condemned, deceptive, and dangerous. SAFETY & HARASSMENT: The most critical issue is your personal safety. This hotel houses individuals we were told are "mental patients," who live on the property. During our stay, we were actively harassed and threatened with violence by some of these residents. The situation was so severe that we had to call the Athens Police Department. When we reported this to the hotel management, their response was to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They showed zero concern for our well-being. FILTH & UNSANITARY CONDITIONS: The advertised "clean and decent" rooms are a complete lie. · The sheets were dirty and stained. · We found COCKROACHES in the room. · Most shockingly, there was FECES SMEARED AGAINST THE WALL. · The bathroom was a health hazard. The tub was painted with cheap house paint, which was peeling and collecting grime. · The towels provided had BLOOD STAINS on them. This place is not just unclean; it is a biohazard. FRAUDULENT & HOSTILE MANAGEMENT: When we could no longer tolerate the danger and filth, we demanded a refund to leave immediately. The management was incredibly rude, unaccommodating, and hostile. When I tried to reason with them, one of them told me they "look forward to my lawsuit." This is not a joke. Why would Expedia host !!

The first room we were in had roaches we had to be switched to another room it was fairly clean but I didn't stay the second night

Room 231 was disgusting. The bedframe had mold and brown crust on it, the lamps flickered, the sofa fabric was worn through, and the floor had greasy spots on it from where cleaner or pest spray had been used and not wiped up. I had to spend the night somewhere else.

First off, the room smelled awful when we walked in. When you take a shower and then want clean towels (since they don't leave but a few), you have to bring your wet, dirty towels to front desk and wait awhile before they come back to give you towels and same goes for ice. I don't know where staff goes, but it takes awhile before they come back with a small amount of ice. They over charge you , not mentioning on website that there is a large fee for a pet. I had paid in advance and didn't like having to pay more after I got to front desk. Tried to check out on time with no person anywhere in the lobby building to take key card and called front desk with no answer at all and no one showed up. While waiting, found out from another guest that their room smelled very bad, also and they didn't like the trouble it was to get service, ice, or clean towels. Even had to take our garbage out so it wasn't over flowing in the room. Neither of us will ever stay at this place again.

The air conditioner is not working well . The room is very dark and dim.It was ridiculous to have to pay an additional 20 dollar fee even though it was quoted as pet friendly!!

1. They claim I had to sign a charge so they would get paid by Expedia. I told them no I have never been told I have to do that. Then they showed me the credit card # , they were wanting me to sign to be charged. 2. No phone, no clock 3. Furniture looked looked terrible it was all scratched up and very old. 4 ceiling looked like it had caulking between boards.

We paid for a two night stay. After the first night we decided to check out early & leave. Wall were thin, we could hear a guy talking in the room next door all night. It appeared that a family was living there. Kids had bicycles that they rode along the balcony along with a big dog going in & out of their room. A rotten pumpkin sitting outside the room & overflowing ashtrays sitting outside. Covers were off the air units & were laying on the sidewalk where we had to step over. Very disappointing & we wasted money on a second night that we didn’t get to use.

But I can tell you, management doesn’t have the capacity to be thoughtful. Ridiculous.

Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed was comfortable and the microwave and refrigerator and hair dryer were nice. Overall enjoyed the stay. We will be staying there again.

Manager is very hospitable and pleasant. I was very pleased with yhe accommodation.

We stay in Athens pretty frequently as we have friends and family there. This was however our first time staying here. The staff was first rate. The property is undergoing a remodeling project, but that didn't create any inconvenience for us. We will likely stay here again.

Had a terrible time checking in. Took forever. Ask for a first floor room and didn’t get it. The remote for the TV did not work. Did not feel messing with desk to correct these two things.

Definitely a drug hotel. We smelt drugs most of the night and there were many unsavory ppl there. Was concerned about my safety.

Did not feel safe at this property. Blocked the door with chairs to prevent someone from coming in during the night. The lady a couple of rooms down from mine cried and moaned for hours. Worst experience ever.

Wasn’t bad, but the non smoking room stunck ! It smelt like cigarettes. If rooms could get cleaned better,would be nice place. We had a great time at the bar, and the front desk staff were very friendly and nice!
