Residence Inn Kansas City Independence

We liked the staff. They were all friendly. Breakfast was good, except the bagels and waffles were very hard. We stayed four nights and pool was never available because of maintenance.

Though this property is undergoing massive renovation, our room was perfectly fine, comfortable and had the fastest internet of any hotel I have stayed in. The indoor public areas were nice, the breakfast hot and well prepared. I assume the outdoor parking and walks will be repaired and resurfaced when the indoor work is completed. The staff seemed meticulous in wanting things to be right. And best of all, there is a terrific new sports bar right next door.

The employees were all very personable and made us feel at home. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately during the stay, KC received extreme cold weather and pipes burst inside the hotel (although not in our suite). The laundry facility is adequate and is coin operated. We would stay here again.

The room was a bit rundown and outdated. The bathtub specifically was problematic (the stopper in the drain broke and it wouldn’t drain even with the stopper out?) with small children who take baths after swimming. The bath was also peeling and needed some work. The swimming pool was also a bit outdated and not the cleanest or hygienic. All that being said, breakfast was INCREDIBLE as were the staff. They were very attentive and offered a room change (which we checked out but it wasn’t much better but I appreciated the gesture) and we just stayed because we were already settled. It was a fun visit AND the rooms and facilities need an update, especially for a Marriott property. The halls wallpaper was warped and peeling in some places and it just felt outdated.

Was not notified of units being remodeled, my unit shower curtain rod broke. No doors closets closed handles hanging on doors, sofa ripped, was not a unit worth full price. Hall had construction dust barriers laying in hall a trip hazard, A discount should have been offered at checkout

Very nice and clean room. Enjoyed the pool, patio and basketball area. Front desk guy wasn't very informative and a bit slow at getting to the desk in a timely manner. I waited 10 mins to return the basketball before i just ended up leaving it on the desk. I heard him in the back.

Staff was great. Can’t say it was dirty but Inside and outside of property is in need of a major renovation.

Not as advertised. Only became a Marriott 43 days ago! Pool broken. Bed lumpy and rolls to the center. Dishes not clean. Bathtub did not drain, told front desk- they sent maintenance, maintenance resolved the tub only to have disgusting residue left in my tub that I had to clean! Gross. Had two rooms for Friday & Saturday night for Father’s Day weekend to catch the royals game with family. In the second room had to call cleaning service back in because when I tried to make up the pull out couch for the kids hair, food, wrappers, etc was all in the cushions. Prescription medicine and hygiene products were left in the bathroom drawers. Breakfast was awful. First day was microwaved biscuits and french toast sticks & sausage, eggs, and oatmeal. We got to breakfast at 8am and all was out had to ask for biscuits and eggs were not refilled while we were there (25-35 minutes) They did have nuts and chocolate chips, brown sugar for the oatmeal, bagel halves, muffins, English muffin halves. No cream cheese, no peanut butter. Only butter, syrup jelly. Apple juice that tasted funny. Orange juice that tasted funny, expired chocolate milk from 6/11. Coffee was warm, not hot. I asked for fresh fruit like a banana and she said they “usually have fruit cups, but they were out”. I asked for water and she said I had to get it from the front desk and the “usually just give it to you” DO NOT STAY HERE! The pool did not break last week. Day two breakfast was worse/we left!

The property was under construction due to a water main break. Wish we would’ve known that before we arrived and should’ve been a discounted rate because of that.

Unfortunately this hotel is not really a good place in terms of cleaning services. 12 days they told me a different story each day They doesn't care about that. Looks like we're begging for cleaning service even after 12 days .

Hate to leave a bad review however the hotel was kind of grimy. Broken furniture, dirty doors, security door to building didnt work. We didn’t try the breakfast, area was decent with restaurants and shopping near by.

We enjoyed our stay. The customer service was impeccable! The room was clean and comfortable. The stay was quiet and satisfactory.

The bath tub had all kinds of hair in it. The closet floor was dirty as well and the cracks in the couch are DISGUSTING. It’s a nice and comfy place but cleaning is definitely lacking

There was blood on my kids bedroom covers

Broken bathroom, absolutely unclean. Blood stains on the blanket. Asked to make the room, nothing was done. Will never ever gonna stay there

The check in process was terrible; was in line behind 8 others checking in and only 1 clerk. The night clerk was not nice! It was 8pm and the rooms were not clean yet and the housekeeper was rude. The room we rented was amazing but the kitchen floor was gross and sticky. Breakfast was decent. One of our toilets was clogged and we were given a plunger to plunge it ourselves; just not a great experience overall.

Liked the location. Staff was engaging and present at front desk. disappointed in the cleaning staff-found food particles on sofa behind pillow, 2 of 3 bottles low or empty in bathroom-even after "thorough cleaning" mid week, same breakfast all week, put out too much food product all at once that sat for too long and became overly dry, milk not chilled properly

Bugs , appliances didn’t work, weed smell and cigarettes, no hygiene material, broken panel with exposed nails and no so helpful staff

Only issue i hadbwas tv in bedroom was not hooked up properly. I was able to get that fixed though

Amazing staff, Great breakfast selection, Good amount of space to move around. Had trouble with opening the room door handle a few times. Not bad, middle on the pack.

The restroom door wasn’t closing and the soap dispensers didn’t have soap liquids ..if this is the case we would have stayed in super 8 or days inn ,instead of spending $150 for this stay ..despite complaining. No action was taken ..they promised a refund which we didn’t get any acknowledgment

Comfortable beds, extremely. Free breakfasts are always nice but 4 mornings I had the best bacon. It was perfect. The front desk took care of any questions. My room was large, stocked, and clean.

Late check-in..Arrived about 5pm. No one at desk, waited almost 10 min to be greeted. Was told room not ready. Ran an errand, returned still waited +5 min for staff to come out of back room and greet me again. Front desk rep was not personable, never told me about breakfast, never disclosed anything about property incl amenities, parking, check out. There was only 1 spoon and 2 forks in the drawer, supposed to be equipped with tableware for 4 people.Bedroom TV was stuck on blank screen that said HDMI, kitchen sink drain super slow even when running the garbage disposal which probably has to be emptied and cleaned out. The shower curtain does not stretch out to cover the entire bathtub/shower area..lol..that was funny:-) These rooms should be in top shape for the amount of money guests pay today! I have stayed at several other Residence Inn locations in other states and have given positive reviews this one was dissapointing.

We had a double room and the deadbolt would not allow the door to close behind you. You have to do a lot of tricks to get the door closed. Didn’t feel safe. When explained this to management, he said there was nothing he could do because no one was there and maintenance was gone for the day. He had no other rooms he could switch us with. I was not satisfied with that answer. When you are a paying customer the company needs to make right for fault on there end.

The bed frame must have been broken; literal seesaw when sitting/laying on bed. Not a good night of rest. Room was clean. Telephone had no cable connecting to phone jack- just for looks I suppose. Master bedroom television had no sound originally. We had to adjust settings to get sound. Kitchen was furnished with items you may need to prepare or eat food. Plenty of lighting. Bathroom toilet paper holder was broken.

This wasn't a very good stay for us. The stand up shower had a weird drain that was a long flat silver metal cover. When I took a shower, it must have been stopped up because it flooded the bathroom and some of the carpet in the bedroom as well as got the room underneath us wet. When we alerted the manager about it, they gave us some extra towels to wipe it up. The housekeeper happened to be right outside our door working on a room across from us, and I put the wet towels in her used towel basket and told her what happened. Her reply was "that's too bad." It would have been nice for her to say something like "I'm sorry to hear that, have you told the manager yet? Can I get you some more towels? I'll let the manager know that your bathroom needs to be mopped and cleaned" or something like that would have been better customer service in my opinion. My husband had to get a butter knife and figure out how to pry it open and then clean out all the hair in the drain. Also the sink drain was very slow to drain. I had to wait a while in between brushing my teeth and washing my face for the water to drain out slowly. When we tried to use the dishwasher, there were no labels on any of the buttons. The cover/strip that had all of the info on that had been taken off and nobody had replaced it or even wrote what each button was so it could be used. I got a manager to take me to an unoccupied room so I could take a photo of it to know how to use it. Tried to add photo but it won't let me.

The staff was nice but the breakfast was horrible. The worker was very nice and apologized a million times but said they were out of everything all three days i was there. Oatmeal (very runny), oranges, eggs, bread and cereal. No meat, waffles, yogurt, other friut, pastries. Typically even a Super 8 would have most of that stuff. I understood the first morning things happen. But all three mornings?? Very friendly staff and clean rooms but i would probably stay someplace else next time because i love a good breakfast in the mornings.
