Cathedral Hill Hotel

Parking was very convenient and needing to use the room key to use the elevator felt safe.

I liked that the staff did what they could to make my stay as comfortable as they could. But I didn’t like the dirtiness of the surroundings. The garage smelled like urine. And I also did not like that the room had no microwave. The room was clean which was appreciated.

The parking area is very good and easy to use. Which for the area is very nice. Everything else is about what you expect for what you pay for a room at the rates they charge.

The free parking in the heart of SF make this a very practical hotel for those who need a car.

Great location travel wise especially if you’re using Uber or planning on walking, but the basement of the parking garage REEKS of urine. If that doesn’t bother you then I recommend if you’re balling on a budget. The rooms were clean and fairly updated (nice beds, good tv, free WiFi)

This place is a great location and parking is great. There was only tea and coffee. So had to get breakfast from other places. The elevator took some figuring out and patience to get it to work. Key card hadt p be used a particular way.

Two tier lower level parking gives this Tenderloin hotel a passing grade. Two elevators were nice , room was clean and a housemaid went out of her way to offer a can opener. Pet friendly and low rates on weekdays.

Decent low cost option for SF. Free roofed parking however makes this hotel an excellent value for those who need parking.

The price was decent but the whole hotel was a bit inconvenient to stay in. There's two elevators on the outside of the property to get in and out, which are finicky with the key cards. Wasn't disclosed that there would be a $100 hold for the room. They did plumbing work in the middle of the day and didn't inform guests beforehand, resulting in one of us being stuck in the shower with no water for about an hour. When the water finally came back on, it was ice cold. Not sure why they couldn't have done this at a better time or let us know beforehand. I had to call the front desk to be informed of the plumbing work and their estimated window of time for the water to be back on was an hour. It's the middle of San Fran so not much to be expected on the cleanliness of the outside or the surrounding area. Not really a knock on them it's just the nature of the city. Wish they also had more amenities available like soap in the room. We had to go down and get soap ourselves from the front desk area. The towels were also really small. All in all it's kind of what you'd expect from a budget hotel, but to be honest for next time I'd rather spend a bit more on the hotel and avoid the inconvenience and dirtiness of this one again.

The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. There was a refrigerator, but it was on the floor. The showerhead gave a great spray and the water was nice and warm. The bathroom exhaust looked nice but didnt work. I parked in the lower level parking, but the key card would not work. I hadcto walk back up the way that i had driven down. The parking area smelled like sewer.

My room was clean, clean sheets and pillow cases, shower was clean with good water pressure. Check in was quick, location was great, small grocery store was across street. I was so tired from my day’s activities that I slept all night.

The only thing I thought looked ugly was the front window of the office’ it looked like it had not been cleaned in years. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable.

The best part is that they have room service for cleaning every day , surprisingly the floor was mopped and very clean, I tried to walk barefoot and didn’t get dirty. The entire hotel was clean for an old hotel The worst part of the place is the parking smells pee, they need to wash and deodorize that parking lot , but it’s free so we are not complaining

The property smells like urine in the parking garage, the second floor smells like straight piss. Ice machine out of order. I called down for towels and was told I had to go down to get them. The beds were hard. One of the queens bed comforter had like cigarette holes all in it. I had to sleep with my child instead of having separate beds. We slept on top of the covers. Mold in the bathroom. Would not be staying there again. I rather just pay more for comforter. Oh and there was noise all in the hallways all night till about 2am. I wish I could attach pictures. Not recommend for kids to stay there

Towels for changed every other day which was good. Receptionist also gave us additional towels. However, you have to ask for shampoo, as they don't automatically place it. For breakfast they serve coffee and tea. The same switch for light and ventilation in the bathroom - two separate switches would've been better.

Checked in and while spraying lysol noticed the pillow case was dirty(both sides) and bed had hair. I removed the hair sprayed lyson. Morning crew was very rude, she ask me what I wanted her to do about the pillow since I took it to the front desk. I wanted to argue with her but didn't have time. Came back room was not cleaned 😡swing shift guard said they clean every other day😬. I asked for a supervisor Pete came out I advised him what happened & ask for amenities, he apologize offered me a new clean room, informed me to speak with manager in the morning.(Which I didn't had early flight) The outside area is poor and may look scary but the people are homeless not harmful.

Parking, clean room, decent shower, sketchy area but this is san francisco. The only real issue is the atrocious smell of the hallway between the elevator and the room.

Wasn't the best but we also a saw a coachroach on the counter which was pretty nasty. No seats in the waiting room as well. Around this motel was just so much homeless and dirty.

There were cockroaches in the room, and it was very noisy. The parking lot was fine, but it smelled like urine. The staff was very friendly. They only cleaned one room in three days.

My room faced the window so I could hear sirens and people shouting even with ear plugs. Free parking was nice. While they don’t serve breakfast they do have coffee available. Staff were very friendly. WI-FI was spotty but I had things downloaded to watch. Room was clean and had a fridge, no coffee maker or microwave. Was an affordable place to stay and I recommend if you are on a budget

The hotel is located in a rough area of Downtown San Francisco but the hotel does a really good job at security as you need a room key to access the elevator. The hotel definitely shows its age but the rooms are in good shape and very clean. At check in it would be wise to ask for a room away from the street as the locals tend to be very loud at all hours of the night.

This place is what you need it to be. A place to sleep in San Francisco. Shower had hot water for two people, rooms were clean, ac worked great and located a block from muni in the middle of the city. This is not a fancy hotel but they do offer parking

It was a decent hotel for what we had to do around the area. Just the walls are very thin so we heard the other rooms all night and cars driving by. The water didn’t get hit, lukewarm only for the first day. The bed itself moves a lot and squeaks when you lay down. Staff was very friendly and answered all our questions.

Its near downtown so its very loud but other than that not bad for a last minute. But the pixtures make it look way nicer than what it is in reality.

Great rooms , Very quiet , Walking distance to anywhere you needed to go .

Overbooked us and sent us to a different hotel. We had a non service dog with us that was bot allowed at the "equivalent " hotel. Caused lots of stress and potential extra fees as the second hotel did not want us to stay.

I'd love to be able to review Cathedral Hill Hotel, but I can't. I showed up to check in, they told me they were overbooked, and sent me to a sister property nearby (Rodeway Inn) which was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Spartan room, uncomfortable bed, TV was broken, no lamps, and hotel staff started loudly rebuilding a door frame right across from our room before 9am.

Room was clean, staff friendly, responsive, and always available. Good value!

Contrary to online images this hotel is directly in the middle of the city and as such is prone to all the downfalls of said location. The parking lot is not secured in any way and while we were there at least 4 cars were broken into including one of our party's. They smashed in the windows and rummaged through the cars. Police said it is a high crime area. Although the neighborhood is run down and the outside smells of urine and waste the facilities themselves are clean and spacious. Our room was fine but due to the incident we decided to go to another hotel. The management was exceptional and understanding as they felt bad that we had been broken into. They refunded our room fee without question and were very accomodating. It was unfortunate that the area is so bad because the staff is terrific and I'm assuming the company policies support them.

Nice room nice people nice stay

We paid for 2 king beds - instead we were given 2 twin beds and a roll-in. The hotel gave us a 15% discount on 1 of our 2 night stays rather than adjusting the charges for the lesser room rate. Staff shrugged it off and said we could cancel instead - with our other 2 rooms fine, we were stuck. Area is full of homeless but we didnt feel unsafe traveling as a group of 10. Even our taxi driver warned us during dropoff that we had picked a bad area to stay. Hotel rooms were nicer than expected based on outward appearance. Rooms were clean and a good size. Showers had good pressure and hot water. Hotel disnt use wash clothes and instead offered us hand towels. Shampoo and body wash was not in room but was given to us at the front desk when we asked for more towels. A couple of nice coffee shops and eateries in the immediate area. Jane's was a good breakfast stop and just 1-block away. Our room was on the street side, 3rd floor and homeless were out shouting and playing music into the late hours of the night. We walked to Lombard street, Fishermans Wharf and Ghirardelli - a very tough walk up hills. We rode the trolley back and walked about 7 blocks from the nearest stop tonthe hotel. Overall, I wouldn't plan to stay here again. Mainly due to the area... but also due to the ripoff. You got us once, but there wont be a 2nd time. Rather, head a bit closer to union square.

The area around the hotel is a little bit sketchy with high poverty and scenery that I would rather not encounter however, I still felt really safe and the urban playground right around the corner made it worthwhile as my kids really enjoyed it

The best rate for a San Francisco downtown location motel. Convenience to any part of the city. City Hall and SF Asian Art museum are just few blocks away.

Honestly not bad at all! As conveniently located as you can get for the nice price. Parking included which is SO NICE in SF. Couple homeless outside, but otherwise great.

Convenience to downtown San Francisco, City Hall and Fisherman's Wharf.

The room was very clean and comfortable enough. Just be sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner and some soap for the shower. The neighborhood is clearly not the best but I did not feel endangered walking around in the daylight. I had a large dog with me, which helped. Probably best to be with someone when walking around if you don't have a dog. But most of the people there are not going to be a problem. Just be sure to not leave anything visible if you have a car parked anywhere - not just the hotel parking garage. Overall, considering the price, this hotel is a good option for the more adventurous travelers

The staff was friendly and accomodating, especially with early check in. The room had nice beds and the room was clean and comfortable with a fridge. The bathrooms are private.There were also vending machines and ice machines available. If given the opportunity I would stay there again.

The property is very close to the public transportation and piers. However, safety is certainly an issue around that area.

Lots of homeless around. Manager said people brake into cars in there lit alot and theres nothing they can do about it. Trash and hunman feces all over the streets. Bed hard but over all you get what you paid for

Located in midst of the Tenderloin, this hotel provides a covenient, relatively low-cost alternative to other hotels located nearby. The room nicely accomodated a family of 5 and we walked everywhere during our 2-night stay, even though we had a car. I must say free, onsite parking was a bonus. Lacking is a microwave and coffee machine.

Hotel location not very good as there are so many drugies and homeless people arround. Also there is not shampoo in the room also there is no microwave in room Even not on common area.. we stay with small kids and we want to make warm milk but everytime we need to go reception and ask them to hot the milk. After that they will go to employees room and it will done. Staff is nice and friendly but amenities are not.

At least one microwave should have been provided at the Coffee area.
