Aston at Papakea Resort

We liked to sit on the bench near the sea wall and watch the waves. The linai had an awesome view.

The view from the balcony was amazing. The a/c was great. Really like the convenience of this area for coffee/food. The property is beautifully maintained. A few kitchen items were not available.

Staying in this resort feels more like staying in a condo. The space l stayed in included a bedroom with a comfy king sized bed, a bathroom with a shower (no tub), a very nice, fully stocked kitchen, a small dining area and a living room with a tv, stereo and murphy bed, and a lanai overlooking the pool, and a great view of the ocean. It is nothing real fancy, but l really enjoyed it. I have friends that were staying in a nearby resort, and that was a RESORT. It was incredibly fancy, BUT it was soooo busy with a ton of people. At Papakea, it was very quiet which l loved. There was only ever a handful of people in the pool, sometimes none. There was constantly people working around the grounds cleaning, taking care of plants, etc, which was nice. The koi ponds are beautiful. The tiki torches at night are a really fun touch. Everything was very clean and the room was fully stocked with everything you need. I don’t know if every room has this, but mine had 2 boogie boards and 2 beach chairs which was fun! We didn’t have to rent them. There is no valet or people to help take your bags to your room, and where you park may be a little of a jaunt, but Papakea is definitely a place to consider staying for your vacation. Everyone l encountered here was so nice. I would definitely stay here again!

Loved the location, walk right into the beach.

Aston at Papakea Resort was lovely. There were great views of the ocean from apartments that were Oceanfront, and great views available on lounge chairs around the property. We were looking forward to using the hot tub one evening, and when we got there, there was quite a few people there, but still room for us. The problem was that people were talking loudly and there is a quiet time at 10:00 pm, so the security folks came at 10 pm and told us all to get out of the hot tub. Since some of those folks were "temporarily" living there (because of the Lahaina fires), if quiet enjoyment of the hot tubs in the evenings is important to you -- this would not be the place. Otherwise it was a lovely vacation.

This was my 3rd stay at this property over a 20-year period. I always enjoy the grounds, which are still beautifully landscaped and maintained. We shared a 2 bdrm/2 bath condo on the 2nd floor of the H Bldg with an ocean view. The condo had been updated and was well-equipped, clean, and tidy. Front desk staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. This resort is a great value, with adequate onsite parking and convenient to a nice range of dining options within walking distance. An added bonus in January is that whales can easily be seen from the waterfront.

It has very large and well manicured grounds that include a putting course, 2 swimming pools and 2 very large hot tubs. Also there are at least 10 BBQs all new and very well maintained by amazing grounds people. My wife and I have come many times over the last 15 years except for a break during Covid and the fire that destroyed Lahaina. Papakea really captures the spirit of Hawaii.

We had a ground floor ocean front room. It was grea! Property is well maintained, right next to the ocean (we were at 20 meters from it). Bonus - parking is free.

The property was very well maintained. Everyone was very positive. The one bedroom we were assigned was horrible. The entire living area was carpeted and was extremely dirty and had a musty odor. The refrigerator seal was torn and the door did not close tightly. Tears in the furniture cushions and arms. Needs signage on light switches so it’s clear what switch works what outlet. Bowls for popcorn or chips. Dishwasher pullout was broken, wheels kept falling off track. Balcony was beautiful, bed comfortable, plenty of closet and drawer storage.

The resort was very nice and their amenities were just what we needed. The unit we stayed in was not in the best condition; the kitchen cabinets were dirty and worn down and drawers did not move easily. Some of the dished and utensils were dirty. There were a few small nails protruding through the carpet/tile transition so we had to wear shoes in the unit.

The location of the resort was lovely, and I enjoyed a room that was so close to the ocean, and the spectacular views I had from my lanai. The bed was very comfortable, and I’m grateful that the Bluetooth speaker I accidentally left in the unit on my departure was turned in. However, the room itself was shabby, and needed a lot of maintenance and some upgrading, especially considering the price I paid. In addition, I saw small cockroaches in the kitchen on 3 occasions, and I was bitten by fleas while sitting on the lanai (on the 3rd floor). Removal of the carpet in the unit would help keep fleas under control.

Air conditioner controller is not modern device. I couldn't turn off when we wanted. But I found out air conditioner device turn off when I open balcony door. Also Rotten smells in couches. Overall was clean and well maintained.

The bed in the unit was terrible. It was like trying to sleep on a marshmellow. The rest of our experience was great

The property and grounds were great but the unit we rented there was tired and needed updating. Watch for extra taxes and cleaning fees attached as well.

we checked in at 8 PM after flying 12 hours. No one is ther from Aston to take care. I asked for an extra blanket as my kid was sick .. they did not provide any in the first night. The Aston agent gone at 5 pm. The front desk did sent an email but no one too care on the first night. This very inconvenient.

We were checked into a room with NO running water. Wasted 1st night and hrs of 2nd day trying to resolve issue. No help onsite after 5pm. LOST valuable time! Less ameneties for 3X the cost compared to prior stays.

These are individually owned units so when you check in and have issues with unit, onsite management does not solve your problems since they are not the property manager of the unit. You will have to solve your own problems.

Originally we were checked into a smaller 3rd story room when we believed we were supposed to have a different ground floor. We advised them at check in, and though we would have still had a great vacation in this room, the management quickly remedied the situation and made our stay so much more pleasant. Everyone was so kind and gracious. The property and stay were perfect!

We had a fabulous ocean view. We ate most of our meals on the balcony. It was terrific. We wish we'd had more help figuring out transportation, but once we were there, it was fairly simple.

This is a great property, with much potential. It is a good location. There was a lack of staff, specifically maintenance to attend to issues after hours. Given a property of this size with so many units, there is bound to be something go wrong at the most inconvenient time. Someone needs to be available to deal with such situations- in our case there was no one. We were surprised, not to mention disappointed. The issue was a big inconvenience, however it did get resolved the following day.
