Very nice and unique resort unlike most in Hawaii that are massive “mega” resort, this has a more boutique feel. The architecture is amazing (seems to be Japanese inspired) and rooms are spread out throughout the campus, adding to its uniqueness. My wife and I stayed in a room on the bottom floor but the way the topography is still allowed for ocean views. Beautiful gym located on the second floor with amazing views of the ocean. If I was getting nit picky the only negatives were that the pool does not have any views and it is not oceanfront, so you need to drive down the hill to get to the beach.

Lovely room and property, friendly staff, excellent amenities (on site dining, shuttle service, beautiful pool and hot tub.) Offers a more secluded, romantic and quieter Maui experience than the typical Wailea lodging. Unique Birdcage Restaurant and bar was an added plus for us.

Okay hotel with some problems. Location is fine, but the shuttles are unreliable and often have wait times. The pond behind our room was very dirty. I was also overcharged by 200 which required me calling the hotel. On the positive, the restaurant was good and the room was pleasant. The pool area was nice too. I'm not sure I would stay here again unless things improved.

This hotel is a total gem. It's a rare adults-only property in Hawaii, and the amenities are everything you need, nothing you don't. The bar is perfect, the restaurant is great (especially for breakfast or a celebratory dinner), and the pool bar is first rate. Best Mai Tai we had in Maui! If you prefer boutique hotels and want a quiet experience with a lovely suite, look no further!

I can’t recommend Hotel Wailea enough! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we had an absolutely spectacular stay. Everyone was friendly and accommodating and helpful. The hotel itself is magical. The suites are private and so well equipped and decorated beautifully. My husband loved the fact that he could ask for more cookies on demand. Sometimes it’s the little things. Being an adult only resort was the main attraction for us but once we arrived, we realized there was so much more to the resort that made it spectacular, including the pool, the restaurants, the gym and The Birdcage. Hotel Wailea did not disappoint us in the lease and we are already looking forward to our return.

The best hotel we’ve stayed in so far. Hotel Wailea is perfect for couples as it’s adults only. It’s intimate, quiet, and the service is spectacular. We especially enjoyed the poolside servers and bartenders and made daily use of the valet shuttle to other areas of Wailea. Also, the Birdcage Bar was our fave after-dinner spot. I highly recommend booking an ocean view suite if possible. Fabulous experience.

Hotel Wailea was a beautiful property with excellent amenities and a friendly staff. Highlight was using the pool, cabanas, and poolside dining every day. The walk to the beach was hilly which made the hotel less walkable than Wailea Beach but the views from our ocean view room were gorgeous. Excellent amenities provided throughout our stay.

We loved our stay at Hotel Wailea. It was very quiet and romantic. Every suite has a beautiful lanai where you can listen to nature, enjoy reading, or use the hotel binoculars to spot whales in the ocean. The pool is quite small and more crowded than expected, given there are only 72 rooms in the hotel. We started at a Partial Ocean View Suite and upgraded to a Celebration Suite and would not recommend doing this. It was only 2 doors down from our original suite with an identical interior and view for an extra $500 per night. The only bonus was a $60 breakfast credit, which we enjoyed on our lanai, but breakfast for a couple is $80. The shuttles to Wailea were incredible. We didn’t use any other hotel amenities because we enjoy the beach and had family stay at hotels with less crowded pools. We would love to return but would definitely stick to Partial Ocean Suite.

We spent our honeymoon at Hotel Wailea after celebrating our engagement dinner at Hotel Wailea a year ago. Hotel Wailea is absolutely stunning and the service is remarkable. The property is so tranquil and majestic and rooms are stunning! When you check in you will be greeted with a lei and a glass of champagne and escorted to your room in a golf cart. The transportation to the Wailea beaches with beach supplies was remarkable everyday and we never had to wait long. The birdcage has amazing sunset views and cocktails! Eating breakfast at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offered stunning views and some of the best pancakes and coffee. The staff and servers at the pool were great and made fantastic food and drinks. The resort is extremely clean! All the managers and staff got to know us and were so kind. We had a late night flight and used the hospitality suite to freshen up before leaving the pool and resort for the airport. We will be returning (hopefully annually)!

Great property much quieter and elegant than the big hotels chains down the street. Quiet pool, beaches at walkable distance, amazing sunset views at birdcage bar, great pool bar and Adult only is a plus. Not particularly charming but confortable, efficient and very clean. Some of the staff seemed new and could have used some more hospitality training. Overall great experience and recommended.

Very nice property and view. Rooms are nice and peaceful. Great staff and service. Floors are the only downside, can't walk in the rooms with bare feet as rooms are likely never mopped.

The staff were all very attentive. We really liked the shuttle option to the beaches and restaurants. The rooms were quiet, comfortable and specious. The grounds are kept up very nicely. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend staying here.

The only things holding me back from giving 5 stars is the fact that we had to kill 3 large bugs in our unit while we were there. Also, when we asked for replenishment of snacks and they said they would do it but never did. Otherwise this trip was a total dream and we loved it!

This resort is top-notch. Quiet (no kids allowed), very clean and very well-maintained. The suite was exceptional with a lot of great amenities, including a soaking tub! The staff was outstanding, and we were very pleased!

Beautiful property that never seems crowded. The Beach area for the Joel is good and the shuttle service quick. The on site restaurant is exceptional. Wi-fi not so good in our suite which we found odd given the clientele.

It is a pretty spot, but it is a long distance from any beach, which did not come through to us from the advertising materials. The units are clean and pleasant, but not particularly well-maintained. For example, our living room television did not work. We called the front desk to report it and they never fixed it. One staff person, Allan, who delivered room service one night, was excellent. Personable, helpful about local events, and very positive about his employer. But like so many places, the hotel is clearly understaffed. At the restaurant for breakfast, the food was delayed and cold, and people were running around in obvious crisis management mode. And the place was not that busy. One waiter asked us if we would like iced coffee to take along, which we thought was a very nice touch. We accepted his offer, and he disappeared, never to be seen again until we later ran into him as he hurried to the staff parking lot. It must have been the end of his shift. A gracious touch gone awry. But on balance, this is a nice, quiet place to wind down. With all the accolades this hotel gets, you might have very high expectations. But you should lower them. It is certainly not as excellent in all respects as some of the awards would suggest. It claims to have been recognized as the best hotel on the Hawaiian islands. In our opinion it is far from that. It overpromises and under delivers a bit.

Design wise was little 2012…remodel was 2014-2015. outdated tv etc Partial ocean view interior differes BIG time vs “Celebration” ( website pics 2023)! Room is big, layout is odd: SHOWER is IN YOUR WALK IN WARDROBE!!! LOL ( unworn ruined silk clothes on day two) uncomfy bed. Service was inconsistent (from great to mediocre, depended on the person) big tips didn’t help. heavy on honeymooners, no cool vibe in the hotel, introverts. PROS: open air gym, sunset views, pancakes, birds and mini jungle feel. cons: concierge/front desk was dial broken. everything is an add on, u r cool if u want to $$$. newer cars (Mercedes and Range Rover were not available Lol), restaurant room service was OK and 90 min wait. Unfortunately hotel didn’t do it for me in 2025

Had a lovely stay at this property. Felt really private and had beautiful grounds. Staff was outstanding. Corwin in the Bird Cage was exceptional and had such a depth of knowledge about all the liquors on their menu. The drivers to/from the resort were fantastic. The suite was spacious and had a view of Wailea Bay. They are very generous with free snacks, champagne and canned drinks in the room.

A truly beautiful property! The staff was all super friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. They threw in dozens of “little touches” to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. Highly recommended. By far the nicest place I’ve ever stayed!

This is our go-to place to stay when we want a quiet relaxing time. The food is great and the suites are very comfortable, with stunning views of Molokini and Kaho'olawe. And great customer care! Will stay here again!

I can’t recommend Hotel Wailea enough! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we had an absolutely spectacular stay. Everyone was friendly and accommodating and helpful. The hotel itself is magical. The suites are private and so well equipped and decorated beautifully. My husband loved the fact that he could ask for more cookies on demand. Sometimes it’s the little things. Being an adult only resort was the main attraction for us but once we arrived, we realized there was so much more to the resort that made it spectacular, including the pool, the restaurants, the gym and The Birdcage. Hotel Wailea did not disappoint us in the lease and we are already looking forward to our return.

This resort is top-notch. Quiet (no kids allowed), very clean and very well-maintained. The suite was exceptional with a lot of great amenities, including a soaking tub! The staff was outstanding, and we were very pleased!

The place is marvelous, but they should soundproof the rooms. At night, it almost feel like you are sleeping on a Motel due to all the moaning from neighbors doing adult-only activities at night.

Stayed here as part of a 20th anniversary trip. Thos place was truly amazing. A 10 on so many levels. What really made it was the staff and service levels. It rivals the best I have ever seen. The attention to detail and willingness to help you with literally everything you need was top notch. Also only 18+ accommodation on the island. For our trip that was very welcome.

Okay hotel with some problems. Location is fine, but the shuttles are unreliable and often have wait times. The pond behind our room was very dirty. I was also overcharged by 200 which required me calling the hotel. On the positive, the restaurant was good and the room was pleasant. The pool area was nice too. I'm not sure I would stay here again unless things improved.

The staff in the main lobby (Bird Cage) was totally overwhelmed and under-staffed. Our first night at the Hotel- we brought our friends from the Four Seasons to check out the hotel and invited them for drinks in the Lobby area. We were not welcomed by anyone- we had to seat ourselves and we were ignored. I was willing to order drinks myself at the bar, but was told to go back to my seat and wait for server. We were finally approached by the rude Server (after waiting 10 min) whom told me that I should complain to Management- so that they could hire more staff at the Hotel. ??!! Bizarrre... Needless to say- I will not be inviting other guests to this Hotel for drinks.

Our recent stay at the resort had some highlights but also several disappointments. Upon check-in, we were greeted warmly, and our luggage was promptly taken to our room—a nice start to the visit. The resort grounds were absolutely beautiful, which added to the overall ambiance. However, the service left much to be desired. We had to text multiple times just to get basic items like drinks, snacks, and coffee delivered to our room. It seemed like the resort was understaffed, as texting was the only way to get a response after multiple unsuccessful calls. Each morning at breakfast, there was no one at the front desk to check us in, forcing us to search for someone to assist us. The pool had a safety issue with a sharp light fixture sticking out, which we reported, but no action was taken. Our Thanksgiving dinner was the most disappointing experience. Despite costing $185 per person, the staff seemed disorganized, and the entire meal took over three hours from start to finish. The food itself was okay at best, far from what we expected for such a high price. We ended up taking our dessert to go due to the excessive wait times. This was our second stay at the resort, and while we had high hopes, we left feeling disappointed. It’s unfortunate because the setting is beautiful, but the service issues, lack of organization, and apparent understaffing significantly detracted from our experience.

It is a pretty spot, but it is a long distance from any beach, which did not come through to us from the advertising materials. The units are clean and pleasant, but not particularly well-maintained. For example, our living room television did not work. We called the front desk to report it and they never fixed it. One staff person, Allan, who delivered room service one night, was excellent. Personable, helpful about local events, and very positive about his employer. But like so many places, the hotel is clearly understaffed. At the restaurant for breakfast, the food was delayed and cold, and people were running around in obvious crisis management mode. And the place was not that busy. One waiter asked us if we would like iced coffee to take along, which we thought was a very nice touch. We accepted his offer, and he disappeared, never to be seen again until we later ran into him as he hurried to the staff parking lot. It must have been the end of his shift. A gracious touch gone awry. But on balance, this is a nice, quiet place to wind down. With all the accolades this hotel gets, you might have very high expectations. But you should lower them. It is certainly not as excellent in all respects as some of the awards would suggest. It claims to have been recognized as the best hotel on the Hawaiian islands. In our opinion it is far from that. It overpromises and under delivers a bit.

Very nice and unique resort unlike most in Hawaii that are massive “mega” resort, this has a more boutique feel. The architecture is amazing (seems to be Japanese inspired) and rooms are spread out throughout the campus, adding to its uniqueness. My wife and I stayed in a room on the bottom floor but the way the topography is still allowed for ocean views. Beautiful gym located on the second floor with amazing views of the ocean. If I was getting nit picky the only negatives were that the pool does not have any views and it is not oceanfront, so you need to drive down the hill to get to the beach.

Lovely room and property, friendly staff, excellent amenities (on site dining, shuttle service, beautiful pool and hot tub.) Offers a more secluded, romantic and quieter Maui experience than the typical Wailea lodging. Unique Birdcage Restaurant and bar was an added plus for us.

The best hotel we’ve stayed in so far. Hotel Wailea is perfect for couples as it’s adults only. It’s intimate, quiet, and the service is spectacular. We especially enjoyed the poolside servers and bartenders and made daily use of the valet shuttle to other areas of Wailea. Also, the Birdcage Bar was our fave after-dinner spot. I highly recommend booking an ocean view suite if possible. Fabulous experience.

Hotel Wailea was a beautiful property with excellent amenities and a friendly staff. Highlight was using the pool, cabanas, and poolside dining every day. The walk to the beach was hilly which made the hotel less walkable than Wailea Beach but the views from our ocean view room were gorgeous. Excellent amenities provided throughout our stay.

We loved our stay at Hotel Wailea. It was very quiet and romantic. Every suite has a beautiful lanai where you can listen to nature, enjoy reading, or use the hotel binoculars to spot whales in the ocean. The pool is quite small and more crowded than expected, given there are only 72 rooms in the hotel. We started at a Partial Ocean View Suite and upgraded to a Celebration Suite and would not recommend doing this. It was only 2 doors down from our original suite with an identical interior and view for an extra $500 per night. The only bonus was a $60 breakfast credit, which we enjoyed on our lanai, but breakfast for a couple is $80. The shuttles to Wailea were incredible. We didn’t use any other hotel amenities because we enjoy the beach and had family stay at hotels with less crowded pools. We would love to return but would definitely stick to Partial Ocean Suite.

We loved the Hotel. Beautiful grounds, very quiet and especially liked the "no kids" policy (even though we have two kids of our own) and the limited number of rooms compared to larger resorts. We would definitely return for another stay. Would have liked better/more food options, though given the size of the resort and the number of guests, I understand this is not likely to happen. We were underwhelmed by the food we ate, both in the Birdcage and the dining room (where we only breakfasted, but if breakfast wasn't great, I wasn't willing to risk a pricey dinner). We have stayed at other Relais properties - The Wickanninish Inn, for example - where we thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Beautiful property that never seems crowded. The Beach area for the Joel is good and the shuttle service quick. The on site restaurant is exceptional. Wi-fi not so good in our suite which we found odd given the clientele.

We spent our honeymoon at Hotel Wailea after celebrating our engagement dinner at Hotel Wailea a year ago. Hotel Wailea is absolutely stunning and the service is remarkable. The property is so tranquil and majestic and rooms are stunning! When you check in you will be greeted with a lei and a glass of champagne and escorted to your room in a golf cart. The transportation to the Wailea beaches with beach supplies was remarkable everyday and we never had to wait long. The birdcage has amazing sunset views and cocktails! Eating breakfast at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offered stunning views and some of the best pancakes and coffee. The staff and servers at the pool were great and made fantastic food and drinks. The resort is extremely clean! All the managers and staff got to know us and were so kind. We had a late night flight and used the hospitality suite to freshen up before leaving the pool and resort for the airport. We will be returning (hopefully annually)!

The transportation to the Wailea beaches with beach supplies was remarkable everyday and we never had to wait long. The birdcage has amazing sunset views and cocktails! Eating breakfast at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offered stunning views and some of the best pancakes and coffee. The staff and servers at the pool were great and made fantastic food and drinks. The resort is extremely clean! All the managers and staff got to know us and were so kind. We had a late night flight and used the hospitality suite to freshen up before leaving the pool and resort for the airport. We will be returning (hopefully annually)!

Great place to rest and enjoy the island. Very quiet and relaxed place. The only down side would be very limited dining option in the resort. Restaurants are very, very expensive but they do not offer many options for dining. Not a great kind of restaurant for a hotel resort. You can go once maybe twice and eat, and you already tried everything on the menu. Two person dinner at least $450 and breakfast at least $150-$200 which is just too crazy.

The staff in the main lobby (Bird Cage) was totally overwhelmed and under-staffed. Our first night at the Hotel- we brought our friends from the Four Seasons to check out the hotel and invited them for drinks in the Lobby area. We were not welcomed by anyone- we had to seat ourselves and we were ignored. I was willing to order drinks myself at the bar, but was told to go back to my seat and wait for server. We were finally approached by the rude Server (after waiting 10 min) whom told me that I should complain to Management- so that they could hire more staff at the Hotel. ??!! Bizarrre... Needless to say- I will not be inviting other guests to this Hotel for drinks.

This hotel is a total gem. It's a rare adults-only property in Hawaii, and the amenities are everything you need, nothing you don't. The bar is perfect, the restaurant is great (especially for breakfast or a celebratory dinner), and the pool bar is first rate. Best Mai Tai we had in Maui! If you prefer boutique hotels and want a quiet experience with a lovely suite, look no further!

Our recent stay at the resort had some highlights but also several disappointments. Upon check-in, we were greeted warmly, and our luggage was promptly taken to our room—a nice start to the visit. The resort grounds were absolutely beautiful, which added to the overall ambiance. However, the service left much to be desired. We had to text multiple times just to get basic items like drinks, snacks, and coffee delivered to our room. It seemed like the resort was understaffed, as texting was the only way to get a response after multiple unsuccessful calls. Each morning at breakfast, there was no one at the front desk to check us in, forcing us to search for someone to assist us. The pool had a safety issue with a sharp light fixture sticking out, which we reported, but no action was taken. Our Thanksgiving dinner was the most disappointing experience. Despite costing $185 per person, the staff seemed disorganized, and the entire meal took over three hours from start to finish. The food itself was okay at best, far from what we expected for such a high price. We ended up taking our dessert to go due to the excessive wait times. This was our second stay at the resort, and while we had high hopes, we left feeling disappointed. It’s unfortunate because the setting is beautiful, but the service issues, lack of organization, and apparent understaffing significantly detracted from our experience.

Belle hôtel, juste wow mais c’est le service qu’on a reçu à cet hôtel qui a fait de notre séjour, un momement inoubliable. Natalia à l’accueil est une perle. Elle a fait en sorte que nous ne manquions de rien et elle est aller au delà de nos attentes pour que notre séjour et notre mariage se déroule par magie. Meilleur service que nous avons reçu à vie! The hotel is well located, but there were several things we didn't enjoy. The food was a real letdown — the quality simply isn't there. On a brighter note, they have a nice lobby bar with a great atmosphere, though it's only open from 5 to 9 PM, leaving it completely empty the rest of the day. Overall, the food, accommodations, and drinks are extremely overpriced and nowhere near worth what they charge. I would not return to this hotel, and I would not recommend it.

A hidden gem 💎 beautiful boutique hotel felt very private and secluded. Adults only made the stay very relaxing. Room was well clean and well appointed with amenities and air conditioning. Staff were very responsive overall to requests. Pool and gym both nice and not crowded. Multiple restaurants on property with main dining area servicing high quality fine food and wine. Highlight of the hotel is the fleet of Range Rovers used to shuttle guests around anytime. That was amazing service and made everything convenient. location is good but not on the beach but the shuttles made it easy. Hotel would benefit from a coffee shop and convenience store. Otherwise is was a solid 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This resort was a dream. We stayed for our honeymoon in April. It looks even better than it does in pictures. It felt exclusive. The Restaurant was incredible for breakfast and dinner. The property was stunning and well maintained. Rooms were very clean. Pool area was peaceful and cabanas were huge! We also got an in-room massage which was the best we’ve ever had. Chef’s Table experience was unforgettable. We will stay there again next time we’re in Maui.
