They allowed early check-in and we enjoyed our room and the staff. The one downside was the pool...it looked like a bowl of milk. I didn't know whether to swim or add cereal.

Property is dated. Pool did not look very clean, so we did not use it. The hot tub was out of order which was disappointing, as we drove out of our way to stay at a place that advertised a hot tub. Ice machine on second floor was out of order and the one on the first floor looked dirty. The hotel room itself was also not very clean. Would not recommend this hotel.

The pool and sauna was closed . Also the hot tub. No ice on the 3rd floor, 2nd floor machine was broken. I was on the 3rd floor. Clean room .. great bed very comfortable

Unfortunately the pool was down for maintenance and we were notified prior to arrival. For us, it wasn't a big deal but, I could see how awful that could be for a family with children expecting to swim.

I’ve never not stayed at a hotel that I booked before, until this hotel. It was disgusting. The pool was so murky that you couldn’t see the bottom and there were used bandaids on the floor outside of the pool. The hot tub had a nasty ring around the top of the water where it looked like it’s never been cleaned. The ceiling in the pool area had stuff hanging down and falling. The carpeted areas looked like they hadn’t been swept in days. The rooms had stained bedding, standing water in the tub with some sort of rust and mold. The towels were also stained and gross! The vents also looked like they’ve never been cleaned. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I paid $275 (one night) just to discover this horrible hotel for about an hour and then decided to just drive on home from my vacation. I am still unclear if I will get a refund.

The property was disgusting. They had stained sheets and covers, hair eveeywhere in bathroom along with dried toothpaste, and nasty marks and what looked like paste on walls. Checked in and didnt even stay for reservation. Not recommended

The entire facility was dirty and poorly kept. The room and bathroom were also dirty. The beds and sheets felt damp, as if they were put on the beds without being properly dried. Would not recommend staying here.

We checked in the night before our so. Graduated from Purdue. We chose Monticello because it was about 1/2 the price as the Lafayette hotels for graduation. It was a 35 minute drive to the school through rural country roads. A peaceful commute. Upon checking in Gina who was working the front desk realized I had booked the wrong room for our family and she worked her magic and got us into a more appropriate room. The gym was open which my kids said was more than adequate for a hotel, The basketball and volleyball courts were under construction as was the swimming pool so that was a little disappointing, but I don't think we would've had time for them anyways. Gina recommended Sportman's Inn to have a nice waterfront dinner and although the food and service was okay the setting and atmosphere on the patio overlooking the lake made up for it. The staff we met were friendly and helpful! We don't usually stay at Best Westerns as we are a pretty bougie family but I'd definitely stay here again. The hotel smelled fresh and clean and the room reflected that. Beds were better than so many we've stayed in. Towels probably need replacing but they were clean and smelled fresh not stale which is the case in so many rural hotels. Overall we were more than pleased and surprised! We left happy travelers. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn't eat it.

The hotel was dark and depressing. Front lobby ice machine had mold at the bottom of it. The tub was extremely dirty and rusty. The bathroom sink faucets were dirty from water residue and previous guest toothpaste. Bathroom floor had hair on it upon first entry into the room, floors were not vacuumed; food crumbs found everywhere. Sheets were stained and bed cover was found to have large urine stain on it. Reported to the front desk representative of the findings and was told there was no one on the property to handle this issue due to late hours, the findings were captured by the front desk representative and was told that the manager will be sent the photos and notified first thing in the morning. Ironically the manager never showed to work due to a “family emergency.” Worst hotel stay I thought could have ever existed! Never again will I go there!

Like other reviews say it's been run down and consistently not cleaned. Sheets are stained the bathtub wasn't clean. We came in for a friend's birthday and only used the room for a couple hours. had we been there longer it would have been a really big deal. The front desk girl was super nice and efficient but that's where the pluses ended . Everything else was a minus. But they kind of have the market cornered in the area, there aren't any other real choices so it is what it is. Maybe bring some Clorox wipes and possibly sheets.

The hot tub in room was nasty not cleaned at all I took soap and water and a washcloth and cleaned the hot tub washcloth was black after cleaning. We were not told when we booked that the hot tub by the pool was broke. Found a dirty washcloth by the hot tub in room so room must not have been cleaned fully not a clean room. Not happy for the price and I go there a few times a year this is the second time this happened not sure if I will go back.

Nice hotel when you're looking for a reasonably priced stay close to the city. There's no fan or hairdryer in the bathroom so it gets pretty steamy and the walls are feeling the moisture build up. Bed was comfortable but sheets were minimal/light. Front desk was hit or miss. Never received housekeeping so not sure if that's the policy or if our room was simply missed.

Overall the room was just ok. The bathroom was horrible,dirty,tub greasy,water just trickle from tub and shower, toliet was barley bolted to floor and rocked when you sat on it.Bathroom door would not close. I would have expected condition to be way better for $200 a night, at least should have been able to take a proper shower. At check out, no one asked how are stay was.I stayed a quite a few Best Westerns, this one was a BW Plus and there was no plus here for sure

When entering the building it was super hot! All the hallways are warm. The room is not updated. Bed was uncomfortable. Only way to keep the ac on is to keep the room at 60. The floors are super squeaky and make a lot of noise.

Overall the facility was very nice. The rooms were clean. I was there for 3 nights. The first night the people next door were blasting their TV even at 3am. The walls are very thin. The first day I did not require any housekeeping but on the second day I asked the housekeeper to come back but they never did. Slightly off putting but not a major issue.

We wanted a late checkout, but there was no one at the service desk or anyone answering the phone. At 11:00 am, housekeeping was at the door. I wouldn’t stay here, the only good part is the pool and hot tub.

Great price except for Friday night, roomy and clean. Lobby/admission workers could use a good dose of friendliness. Stayed Tuesday through Saturday morning and only had maid service the first night. Pretty meager breakfast, no fruit, little selection but great coffee. Still would stay again

The pool area looked horrible. We expected to enjoy the hottub, but it was closed. The pictures on the website were not the same and when we asked for a blanket, we had to get it ourselves. Its good customer service to honor simple requests like that. The guy at the front desk was not very friendly, either. I think I overpaid for the room and will most likely not return.

We checked in the night before our so. Graduated from Purdue. We chose Monticello because it was about 1/2 the price as the Lafayette hotels for graduation. It was a 35 minute drive to the school through rural country roads. A peaceful commute. Upon checking in Gina who was working the front desk realized I had booked the wrong room for our family and she worked her magic and got us into a more appropriate room. The gym was open which my kids said was more than adequate for a hotel, The basketball and volleyball courts were under construction as was the swimming pool so that was a little disappointing, but I don't think we would've had time for them anyways. Gina recommended Sportman's Inn to have a nice waterfront dinner and although the food and service was okay the setting and atmosphere on the patio overlooking the lake made up for it. The staff we met were friendly and helpful! We don't usually stay at Best Westerns as we are a pretty bougie family but I'd definitely stay here again. The hotel smelled fresh and clean and the room reflected that. Beds were better than so many we've stayed in. Towels probably need replacing but they were clean and smelled fresh not stale which is the case in so many rural hotels. Overall we were more than pleased and surprised! We left happy travelers. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn't eat it.

The room was nice and big. It was clean. The bathroom needed an update and was just OK. We did not have enought towels but I did not report this to the front desk. We have stayed here before as it was the most reasonable price near Purdue and would stay again.

We took our daughter and nephews to Indiana beach for the weekend this hotel was perfect is only 5 minutes from the park and the pool was nice it has a sauna and a jacuzzi

Great price except for Friday night, roomy and clean. Lobby/admission workers could use a good dose of friendliness. Stayed Tuesday through Saturday morning and only had maid service the first night. Pretty meager breakfast, no fruit, little selection but great coffee. Still would stay again

The staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Nice mattresses and pillows. Room was spacious and quiet. Nice fridge and Keurig. Bathroom seemed clean but the carpet in the bedroom did not. There was popcorn scattered under the desk and a spill stain on the floor by the door. Carpet wasn’t cleaned or at the very least vacuumed. Breakfast was below average. The bacon was like weird, thin salty, crumbly paper pieces. Eggs had no flavor. Thought I could make a bagel sandwich at least, but ran out of bagels. Not one thing tasted good except the Cheerios I ate and I’m not normally a cereal eater. Coffee was ok. For the high price we paid, my husband and I have stayed at much nicer hotels in this range. This price was similar to what we’ve paid in big cities like Chicago or Nashville. Overall an average hotel.

My trip overall was very nice. The front desk let me check in about an hour and half early. They were friendly to me my entire stay and extremely courteous. The room I had was a king. It was very spacious. One of the remotes to the tvs did not work. Which was okay I used the controls on the side of the TV. The bed was very nice. I slept very well on it. I find most beds in hotels too firm for my liking. The bathroom left for some improvements. I think the towels could be replaced they looked to be on their last leg. The shower made some weird high pitched noise. And overall the room was just very tight. Breakfast was very good. And for being a Sunday it was perfect. The eggs were delicious and so was the bacon. My son really liked the juice and cereal selection. I think overall there is some room for improvements but for the price it’s very nice. I would stay here again in the future.

First, the pool was closed for renovation, and we were never notified about this before our stay. When we asked about it, we were told that the hotel didn’t have our phone number. However, there were other ways this information could have been communicated, especially since the pool is an advertised hotel amenity and had been a factor in choosing the property The condition of the room was also disappointing. The TV stand/dresser had wood visibly chipping and peeling off, as shown in the photo. There was also a stained pillowcase, which was especially concerning from a cleanliness standpoint. The hotel is but run down. The bathrooms are only supplied with a small sample of shampoo and conditioner and a bar of soap to wash your body. No big pump bottles in the shower. The pillow cases were all pilled and faded and old. No one was at the front desk at night. They had a bell to ring for service but after standing there for five minutes, no one came.
