Recent change from Howard Johnson. Lots of equipment and finish updated. A few minor issues with our room but great staff. Breakfast time was limited and room could have been better serviced. Great value. Pool and exercise areas were clean.

Looks like a major renovation, paint etc. Beds were extremely comfortable. The bar and grille area looked comfortable but very loud so we skipped it. Breakfast room is ok but long tables make it very difficult to walk around. Breakfast was traditional motel breakfast. Hot, fast etc would definitely stay there again at the reasonable price but still waiting for $100 deposit in case of damage after 5 days

The parking was poorly lit and the signs for the hotel were not visible or lit as this was an old HoJoe’s. They were doing construction work in the parking entrance. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Floor in room 405 was sticky, clearly unswept. Bathroom floor, too. Which is crazy because there was literally a cockroach leg on the floor 🙃 Bathroom tub/shower did not even look wiped down. Toilet looked fine. Stayed in a double queen bed room—bedsheets on one bed had what appeared to be a make up stain on them. Staff was fine, friendly. Mattress was super comfy. Overall it just looked like our room was hardly cleaned, which is gross.

Arrived at the Germaine Hotel about 2:30pm, after spending the morning traveling from Bangor and then hiking the Freedom Trail in downtown Portland...so needed a shower and a rest...was told the room wasn't ready and check-in was 3pm...so got my luggage and waited in the lobby ...15 minutes later the desk guy comes and asks if I've already checked -in...when I replied No, he says well your room is ready...as my room turned out to be about 15' from the lobby, I can say with some degree of certainty that no staff member entered it toake it ready in that period of time... The bathroom floor was filthy, missing tile base behind the toilet as well as missing tile...the wall paper apply was falling off the wall, the windows were filthy and the lamps had missing or burnt out bulbs...not worth the money I spent.

Overall the property was fine. However our floors in our room were extremely sticky when dry and slippery when wet. I assume there’s a build up of dirt and/or cleaning products? I wore shoes anytime I walked around the room.

Very difficult to find in the dark/hallway carpets looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in quite a while/floor in the room was dirty/pillows were so big and firm it hurt our necks and we had to use some bath towels instead/our room widow had a sticker stuck to the outside that may have been there since the window was installed/the toilet paper holder fell out of the wall . . .

Check in was not great, the rooms were supposed to be adjoining and they were not. Then when we went to the room they gave us one was already open and was not clean at all. They moved us and the new rooms were okay. The next day we asked them to clean the room and replenish our towels and they never did. Otherwise the beds were clean and comfortable. also common to hear dogs barking at night.

Hotel has potential. Lobby needs renovating, first floor rooms were very noisy as was parking lot. Room was nice, liked mural on wall and style of decor. bathroom needs some minor renovations in the cracks, tub edges, ceilings. Doesnt look clean or finished. Breakfast was so crowded you couldn’t move so we walked out without eating. Location is good despite the parking lot being behind a convenient store and at night you have to park around back as the lobby door is locked.

I suppose I got what I paid for. Pictures are very deceptive. This place is…in need of a facelift. The tub in my room looked gross honestly. Streaky and with a long hair in it (myself and my husband have short hair). It wasn’t awful honestly but not quite the experience I was hoping for.

First Impression was not good. I entered the lobby and approach the front desk, but there were no employee's present. I called out and waited for 15 mins and I had go searching the property for an employee. !st room I got, I was hit with overwhelming tobacco odor. Changed for room next door. Furniture was new and updated the room was not cleaned and items used coffee maker shampoo towels, bath, tissue, etc. 3am I was woke by a very loud domestic violence in another rm, I could hear the furniture breaking and screaming. I called desk 3 times before someone answered. Desk sent cops to my room instead of finding the other rm wake me again. Overall employee do not have any training in CS not but rude, but lack personable, no smiles, they don't seem to care about anything and it shows throughout the property. Lack of of cleanliness although under construction it could be much better. The hotel is going through renovations but it has a long way to. The breakfast was non existent coffee left over from prior day "not kidding". For the price I paid I didn't complain but I would not return, I'd forgo the budget savings and go elsewhere. I hope things improve in the future to void this review!

First time since new ownership. 360 degree improvement. Clean , friendly staff , rooms updated. It was really nice. Few snags but they will correct. Like ironing board , no iron , rooms without hairdryer. That being said you call the desk and they deliver to room right away.

Terrible, rude, unfriendly staff, no shades that keep the light out, they take money for”incidentals” wouldn’t give a receipt for it, won’t give the money back for at least a week but I have no proof they took it, ugly lobby, never going back. Ever.

The 2 young ladies at the desk were very helpful with checking me in and when i left and were very polite, rooms were spotless beds were comfy, breakfast was great loved trying out the waffle maker, there was ab accident with the coffee maker abd was continuing to boil all over the counter a couple times but the gentleman was able to get it under control in time before any other guests arrived.

The 2 young ladies at the desk were very helpful with checking me in and when i left and were very polite, rooms were spotless beds were comfy, breakfast was great loved trying out the waffle maker, there was ab accident with the coffee maker abd was continuing to boil all over the counter a couple times but the gentleman was able to get it under control in time before any other guests arrived.

When I called, if someone answered they acted liked they couldn’t hear me and hung up. Then when I called back no one picked up. When I arrived after midnight to check in, my room was not ready. The shelving at the bottom of both sinks were broken. The breakfast area was left messy; no one was there cleaning up.

Elderly family member stayed for early morning medical appointment. I asked desk staff if she could schedule a taxi pickup. Her response was to give ME the phone number of the local taxi. Room had no alarm clock. Had to go but one at local Walgreens. Room had no tissues. They brought us a 'travel size' box of tissues.

Check-in was very slow, not just for me. Don’t know if it’s slow computer issues or more training needed. Bed was great, and the step-in shower made me feel safe. The only noteworthy problem is that the floors felt sticky in the room but also other areas of the property.

The outside of the building needed landscaping. A new lighted sign needs to be installed, we missed the entrance in the evening. Check-in & check out was smooth. Garbage was changed daily. The breakfast was in need of fresh fruit. Unfortunately, the toilet clogged and we notified the desk at 9am, we returned around 6:30p and it was still clogged. My husband asked for a plunger to unclog it, which he did. They did offer us another room but we declined. Towels were replenished upon request. The restaurant attached was fine. The hotel is dated and has paint splatters on the floor. Overall, it was not a horrible stay for a few days but you get what you pay for. Location to the Interstate, beaches and Old Port was fabulous.

The room was clean, but kind of dated and rundown. The location was convenient as it was only 10 minutes from the airport. For us we had an early morning flight so we just caught a nap before flying out.

This was a decent stay for the weekend. The room may need some renovations in the future such as with the ceiling tiles the breakfast bar had an OK selection. Would stay again.

You could easily hear everything in the hallway/neighboring rooms. Windows wouldn't lock (my room was first floor). Breakfast was supposed to open at 6 but wasn't available until after 7.

Breakfast was non existent. 3 container for cereal all filled with Cheerios. No coffee, no waffle mix, no pastries, bread or English muffin only. No staff to address these issues

The 2 young ladies at the desk were very helpful with checking me in and when i left and were very polite, rooms were spotless beds were comfy, breakfast was great loved trying out the waffle maker, there was ab accident with the coffee maker abd was continuing to boil all over the counter a couple times but the gentleman was able to get it under control in time before any other guests arrived.

Had a problem with the AC of the room not cooling. So we were sweaty the whole night while we are sleeping. Breakfast was supposed to be available at 6AM but they start opening at almost 8AM. You have to make your own pancake too which is why the line in the breakfast area was too long.

Minimal outlets for electronics. Clean comfortable bed and bedding, shower water was not hot. Free breakfast was not good, poor quality. Next time I’m in the area, I will pay more for a better stay.

Breakfast was a disaster. 1 hot, overcooked sausage patty and five frozen ones in the hot plate. No batter for the waffles. Coffee machine didn't work. Only dirty, unwiped tables to sit at. No attendant anywhere to help out.

When I called, if someone answered they acted liked they couldn’t hear me and hung up. Then when I called back no one picked up. When I arrived after midnight to check in, my room was not ready. The shelving at the bottom of both sinks were broken. The breakfast area was left messy; no one was there cleaning up.

This property has big rooms with all amenities. Buffet breakfast is very good and suitable for travelers. Elevator is very convenient for those on upper floors. Not much food wise within walking distance but much within a short drive. Overall I could recommend this hotel.

The air conditioning worked well, the room was cooled properly but the unit emitted a terrible smell. The whole room smelled every time the unit went on. The entire room had a sticky floor that made noise wherever we walked. The sheets were clean but the comforter was not. There was visible use and dirt on the edges as if it hadn't been washed in a while. There was some mold on the shower ceiling tiles and the shampoo and conditioner containers attached in the shower were dirty. Overall, not impressed with the hotel. We didn't have any interaction with staff except at check-in and check-out. Both experiences were pleasant.

Well it wasn’t the best place. Run down and cheap upgrades. The staff was helpful, but not very expedient. I would stay again as the price was fair for what you get.

Location was good if you have a car or are willing to take the transit. Gas station beside is convenient, staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Property maintenance could use some improvement but overall great stay.
