First impression was that the grounds were well kept. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and cozy. Pool was clean and very quiet. Only a 6 minute drive to the nearest T station to head into the city. Was a great stay. Will be back!

Had a good experience here except for parking. It took 40 minutes to leave the parking area I paid for because only one gate was working and they had to have an attendant releasing one car at a time.

The daily $20 parking charge was a surprise ….. Expedia didn’t state this in the details. The hotel Is in the suburbs and has a massive parking lot so why charge for the parking? If I was In downtown Boston I could see paying for parking… but this seemed to be an extra money grab. Sucks…… PS…. Also no free internet…. Boo!

The rate was reasonable, and the facilities looked ok at first glance. Experience was disorganized and disappointing. Food was just OK and overpriced, there were cobwebs all over the corners of our room (we took photos), no info provided in the room (local attractions, hotel info, hotel restaurant/room service menu etc). The front desk was confused about food delivery and called us to the front desk to pickup our order which then arrived at our room. We were staying local to Boston with my medically fragile child for treatment- one of the few things he’s allowed to do is swimming. We called before booking to verify pool access, called ahead of the trip to verify the pool would be open during our stay, and called to the front desk at arrival for the hours (we were told open until 9). Imagine our surprise and then tears etc when we walked to the pool to find it closed for maintenance). These trips to Boston are a trauma experience for my son. We do everything in our power to build positive experiences into these trips to limit the negativity. The sole reason we booked this hotel was for the pool, and we had to do fairly substantial processing and damage control as a result of the closure. Indoor swimming may not be a big deal to a lot of people, but to my son it’s everything right now. It was exceptionally disappointing, particularly since we had done several levels of confirmation checks about the pool facility (including from the front desk itself when we checked in).

We really enjoyed being right on the river. Our room had a beautiful river view. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good. Having a little Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient. As was having our Hertz rental car pick up Right there! They parking was a bit silly. Charging the amount of money that they did for parking when there is no public transportation nearby felt greedy. This is also very expensive. And the parking lot exit device did not work well so everyone leaving. The parking lot had a real struggle. The display panel was not working and multiple messages are received, saying follow instructions on the screen which was blank. I can understand charging for parking in a crowded city area, where there is very little parking and lots of public transportation. that was a disappointment.

It was close to the Riverside T stop, was safe and offered a bar/pub for evening fare. The room was clean but the pool was not well maintained as the tiles around the pool were very wet and slipping was likely. The fitness center was very good. Paying extra for parking was not appreciated. In order to get on wifi you needed to join their club, even some motels/Apartment rentals offer free wifw- not good!

I have stayed here many times, liked it better with free parking and the previous restaurant quality was outstanding, now it is good. Friendly people and nice facility, like the pool and exercise room.

I recently provided this same review of Google!! This was the worst expirience ever!!! We arrived on Friday and was told that we had to pay to park on the hotel property. On Saturday we missed the wedding we came for as a result of waiting an HOUR to exit the parking lot as only ONE gate to exit was working!!! Our hotel room had a filthy shower liner, and the toilet had fecal matter from the previous occupant directly under the seat!!! We asked for a blanket and were told they didn’t have any additional blankets and arrived 45min later with three bed sheets. We asked the next day to have our room refreshed with new wash cloths and they only provided TWO although we had a three day reservation. The carpet had a sticky type of substance which made my wife and I believe it was soiled with some foreign substance!!! i am totally disappointed in this stay and establishment. I will never again stay at this hotel. The entire weekend was ruined as we missed the wedding because of the poorly managed property, not to mention the gross manner in which the room was.

Check in to my room only to be greeted by the sound of a work crew drilling on a lift outside my window. They didn't stop until 6 pm. That was repeated the next day. There aren't a lot of places nearby to eat so the hotel restaurant doesn't have a lot of competition which might explain the average food and the worst server I've had in ages. When I woke up to leave, I was greeted by a cockroach in the bathroom whose was apparently enjoying the hospitality more than I. About to check out, I discovered my car battery had died. I had cables and asked and the front desk if I could get someone to jump my car. No, and then rather than deal with me they went in another room. Thankfully one of my fellow guest was very hospitable and graciously offered to jump my car. Adjectives I wouldn't use to describe the hotel staff.

The room was dirty, had insects, stains on walls/furniture, hairs all over the place, smelled badly, the ceiling is coming down/peeling off in some places, the sheets are ripped, the table is literally taped back together, and there was an extremely loud buzzing noise happening periodically throughout the night coming from the AC/front door area. On top of that you have to pay $20 a day for parking. This is like a motel not a 4 star Marriott.

Worst Marriott experience ever. Room was so filthy I asked to switch. Got lesser room for second night (less 1 bed less balcony). Nobody even offered a refund. Cleaning crew started just past 7 AM super noisy talk nonstop impossible to sleep. Bathroom smelled like smoke from prior guest … O M G!

This property has a facade of being nice, but you can tell once you get to the rooms that it is simply cheaply remodeled and labeled as nice. The first room we were assigned had dirty sheets and comforter. The staff was nice in getting us a new room, but the next room we stayed in smelled somewhat of smoke. This new room was also handicap accessible which had a standing shower which turned the whole bathroom into a puddle. Another strange thing is that this massive hotel only has FOUR luggage carts to cover over 400 rooms which is insanity. If you are visiting the city of Boston, I would recommend staying somewhere different. Next time we visit I will most likely look into staying in the Watertown area.

The rooms were not cleaned properly. Toilet was clogged when we first went to use it, how do you clean a toilet without flushing it? And if you flushed it you would know it’s not working properly. Maybe housekeeping just didn’t care. The shower and rest of the bathroom was also not cleaned with attention to details.

Very nice hotel, I liked that they had a bar, Starbucks, and snacks in the lobby. The room was nice, clean, comfortable bed. My only complaints are that that are very few channels on the TV and you can't connect to streaming services; additionally they charge you for everything, including parking and wifi.

Ok place but very surprised with this upscale location this facility hasn’t been updated. Rooms and lobby all scream mid 90s at best. If you’re looking for five stars this place needs an upgrade. So it’s a 4. Things like tv was on an angle and I couldn’t move it so it has been that way for awhile. Agree the breakfast was good.

Staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and quiet overlooking the beautiful river. Had the breakfast bar and it was excellent. Just a short walk to the MBTA to get into the city. Was a lovely stay.

BATHROOM BARN DOORS ARE THE WORST. NO PRIVACY AND YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON IN THE BATHROOM. TERRIBLE

We had a bad experience getting into our room upon arrival. Our card key would not open our room door. I went back to the front desk (4 floors up) and they “rewrote” the card key. When I tried the “new” key I had the same problem. I went back to the front desk and they “rewrote” the card key again. Again the card key would not open our room door. My wife called the front desk from her cell phone and was told an “engineer” would be by to help us. Twenty minutes later the “engineer” showed up and verified that our card key was no good. He was able to use his card key to open our door. The “engineer” said he would be right back. Fifteen minutes later he came back with a working card key. It took us 35 minutes to get into our room! Not good service!

I had a terrific stay here and Jimmy. I hope that’s his name he was the bell captain was made all the difference in my stay! He noticed I used to walk her and he told the room clerk when I was checking in that I should have a room that was closer to the lobby not only did he do that, but he helped me return my Hertz rental car! He was above and beyond and gave me The assure uncomfort that I had hoped for! Thank you very very much

The hotel went into my room and began to clean it…but the privacy card was on the door and I had not checked out. Housekeeping removed the pillows from the bed and started stripping the beds. Then they stopped. When i returned to the room, it was obviously not as I left it. In addition to that icky feeling of having someone messing with your beds, the beds were not made up for sleep. The front desk failed to get me clean pillow cases and sheets that night. They have also failed at any attempt to make it right. Marriott used to be about having a good customer experience. They just are not worth the money. Good luck if you stay at this hotel. I won’t be spending any more money with Marriott.

Room was extremely clean, beds are super comfortable, the service was impeccable especially with Farah always taking care of anything we needed! When we come back to Boston will definitely return to this hotel!

Room was clean & comfortable. All 3 front desk staff members were inefficient, unknowledgeable & apathetic. They were rude, unfriendly & took no responsibility for not having but then finding my reservation, not properly charging for incidentals & revealing private info to other guests. The room was horrible & faced a stone wall yet the woman checking me in referenced it as a view with a nice view. Really? Clueless. Unorganized. Completely not in line with Marriott's minimal, basic customer care standards. This property should be removed from Expedia & the Envoy group. Stay away!

Terrible Experience, very unprofessional and rude staff I had an extremely unpleasant stay at this hotel. The reception staff was unfriendly and unprofessional, with rude and dismissive communication. Instead of being welcoming, they made me feel like an inconvenience. Definitely would not recommend!

First impression was that the grounds were well kept. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and cozy. Pool was clean and very quiet. Only a 6 minute drive to the nearest T station to head into the city. Was a great stay. Will be back!

It is I lovely location close to the river and freeways. There are nice small eating options within walking distance. There are 2 T stations within a mile and a bus stop next to the hotel. There is a car rental center on hotel property

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, but here are a few of them: 1. It is located within a half mile (straight shot) off the interstate (I95 and rt28.) 2. Tons of parking (daily rate $20) 3. The hotel neighborhood is lovely and easily walkable. 4. The T station (Riverside station) is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute car ride. This station also has ample parking. Or you can Uner for about $10. 5. Hotel restaurant is spacious and serves excellent food and drink 6. The rooms are updated and very clean. We already booked our next stay before we even checked out.

This is a really nice hotel, the rooms are modern and clean. The staff is courteous and helpful. The only caveat is the location, if you are in a car it is OK, but public transportation is bad. There are no buses, only 2 train stations, one at half mile and another one at 1.2 miles.

Nice hotel with pretty location on the Charles. Has a nice area to sit outside at night with a glass of wine. In the morning a nearby park was great for a run along the river.

Breakfast wasn’t included, and parking also had a high fee for guests. $20 to park at your own hotel? Restaurant for dinner had high prices and poor service, and low quality food. Enjoyed the pool, and the room was quite comfortable apart from the stain on one of our beds. Had issues with the keys not working.

This is a great hotel. The breakfast service is wonderful. The staff are so polite and helpful. And the accommodations are clean and tidy. Will definitely stay here again!

The Marriott Newton is very close to the T, so we were able to take public transportation into Boston every day of our visit. We had a river-view room, with a pretty good view as it was directly below. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but both the ‘cooked for us’ and buffet options were tasty and plentiful. The honeydew melon was surprisingly ripe, and the strawberry/blueberry/blackberry combo was perfect. Our room was very clean and the housekeeping staff obviously works very hard.

Good location and nice quiet rooms. They have begun charging to park your car, which is new and guest pay same rate as public. Guests should pass less. Hotel claims to have room service and they have an ordering app that does not work and after trying several times and them calling the front desk they i form you it doesn’t work for that meal (they have now told me app isn’t for breakfast, lunch and dinner) so then they transfer call to restaurant to place room service order - but no one answers phone and your message goes unanswered. Rooms have been redone and they are nice, but lighting is not good making it hard for shaving or applying makeup - they need to rethink lighting

Check-in was very good. Other staff carry out basic work without much engagement or sense of friendliness. The restaurant food was okay in quality, but limited and pricey. Breakfast selection was odd -- the buffet ($25) had only salmon, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and scrambled eggs (no muffins, toast, pastry, or fresh fruit!). Upcharge for WiFi, as noted in Expedia info. This hotel made me decide to not book any more Marriotts. It just seemed like a rip-off for the level of hotel it claims to be.

If you need to stay in the Newton/Wellesley area, this property is your best bet. However, the breakfast buffet was quite disappointing. All of the hot food was cold - eggs, potatoes, meats. The eggs were completely tasteless. My check-in was a bit off. I'm a gold member, and I wasn't offered a bottle of water. My room was quite nice, but it was about the farthest walk from the lobby (and was next to some physical plant equipment that created white noise all night). I'll stay here again. It's actually a nice property in a nice setting in the right place. I just would like a bit more effort on the little things.

This hotel needs some basic maintenance. In our case the toilet seat was broken in our room and the shower fixtures were very loose. Also, the coffee service in the room is a nice idea but ours was missing cups which made it useless. The restaurant at the hotel has a very limited menu.

The hours of operation for Starbucks, the restaurant and bar are not guest-friendly. There are several hours after lunch and before dinner when everything is closed and you cannot get ANYTHING.

The booking system on check-in was down, we were placed in a room without a balcony. We raised it with staff to say we would be refunded, I have contacted the hotel directly for a week and this is still not resolved with the Hotel just ignoring us. The hotel is dated, bedsheets and towels had holes in them. The pool was as usable but cloudy and dispite staff assuring us they oukd arrange the refund they did not.

Disappointing stay, especially for the price. The hotel is dated and in need of significant updates. There was no one available in the lobby to get coffee in the morning, which was frustrating for a full-service Marriott. The location is also misleading if you’re visiting Boston. Unless you’re driving, it’s more than a 1.5-hour trip by commuter train, so it’s far less convenient than advertised. Overall, far too expensive for the quality and location. We won’t be staying again.
