Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Youngstown - North Lima/Boardman by IHG

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Good breakfast. Pool was out of order. It was a nice stay after getting bumped from their sister hotel in Boardman.

Ran the hot water at the sink for a long time, water never got warm/hot, tub water got hot. On arrival to room, door was propped wide open by an ottoman. Bathroom floor sticky. Only 1 one bath towel in the bathroom. Juice machine, soda machines out of order. Outside landscaping needs a lot of attention, but did look like they were working on it.

No towels in room called front desk 4 different times so I eventually had to go downstairs for them. Booked this specific hotel because it had a pool when we arrived saw a note pool Was closed for refurbishment as of the week before. I wish we had been notified we would have switched hotels as we booked 2 months ago and were not warned about this.

Hotel was “tired” and only one elevator which we feared would break down

How I feel about it is it’s definitely a place to stay for one night only, Not listed online but the pool is closed, The fitness center has a total of like 3 or 4 machines and ones out of order, Cleanliness is lacking the the room sheets have some stains on them, the plastic cups placed in the room one was half open, We had three adults in one room and they left us with half a roll of toilet paper no extra sheets or pillows for the pull out couch. Staffing was semi friendly but stood there between 10-15 minutes to wait to check in because the front desk guy was on the phone booking another reservation. The stay wasn’t terrible but definitely wasn’t great either.

Pool listed as closed at least 2 months on website. Called day before reservation to check and the response was that the chemicals would be added that day and pool open the next day. Turned out that was not true. Front desk said these chemicals were on back order for months and the third party who answers the phones kept telling wrong info. Kids very disappointed. Generally place needs updated but overall is decent, best one in that area if you need to stay a bit further out from the bigger towns.

Room TV wires had been ripped out, and obviously tried to tape back together - without success. Ice machine covered with gunk. Dirty, broken stuff everywhere. I assume they are going out of business because it looks like corporate hasn't seen it in ages.

Poor parking and poor outdoor lighting in parking lot. Hallway carpets and hallway flooring dirty .

Property was not clean at all. From the breakfast dining area to the public restrooms to the guest room. Appeared to be a shortage of towels and washcloths.

It was dirty and our room smelled strongly of mildew. We asked for a different room and was moved next door.

Coffee was better than others and the breakfast was excellent. The room was clean except for what I think is construction dust, the staff was friendly and courteous. The outside had construction dust all around and needed a good power washing.

The hotel is not clean, entrance, lobby, hallways to get to the room hang been vacuumed in weeks. The carpeting filthy, never saw anything like this especially for a notable chain like Holiday Inn. We won’t return.

I wish I would’ve checked recent reviews. This place is not in good condition. Staff are very kind but that’s the end of the good news. Upon entering, the floors were dirty. I should’ve taken this as a warning sign. After check in, the elevator had a cleaning bottle on the floor. I got to my floor and the halls were very smelly. It smelled like someone had crop dusted. I got to my room with my nose turned up. Room seemed okay but was very dated. I did some work for about 10 minutes and decided to check out. I left and the bottle was still in the elevator and the hallway was still smelly. Do not recommend.

FILTHY! First room we were given "looked" as if it had been cleaned but as we inspected it we found hairs in the bed, hairs and toothpaste in the sink, no drain stopper in the sink, hairs on the toilet, obvious dirty pillow cases and drink rings on the side tables and only one towel (no other bath linens) This room hadn't been cleaned at all.I went to the front desk to ask for a different room and was given what I was told was a better room. I have added pictures of this better room in this review. We would have left but it was so late we could not find another and had been traveling for 11 hours. At approx 1:30am I went out to have a smoke and behind the front desk was an unknown gentleman sleeping in the chair at the front desk who had obviously been drinking and was not an employee of the hotel. I contacted the corporate office the next day regarding these issues and asked them to call me and instead I was sent a standard email asking me to stay there again. Sorry but that isn't going to happen! We ended up purchasing cleaning products to clean the room ourselves and using a blanket we had in the car just to get a few hours sleep.We have stayed in many Holiday Inn Express Hotels and this is NOT one that I believe should represent their brand. Their CEO would be hugely disappointed to see it and should pull their franchise until it is cleaned up.

This hotel is run down and our room was very, very dirty. The beds are okay, but everything in our room was level-10 filthy. I’m not a clean freak by any means. For context, we have 2 dogs and 3 cats at home, so I’m used to some dirt. But the lamps, alarm clock and other fixtures in the room looked like they hadn’t seen a dust cloth in months. Fortunately, we only stayed one night while traveling between Illinois and Pennsylvania.

Extremely nice hotel. Beds, pillows, cleanliness, phenomenal shower head, and the soaps and lotions were all amazing. We'll be back next year during the fair.

Extremely dirty. Uncleaned semen on one bed. Moved to a different room. Hair in bathroom, both floor and tub/shower. Shower curtain bar literally falling out of the wall.

This hotel is dirty. The hallway carpeting is filthy. This hotel has become very rundown and needs to shut down for a complete remodel.

I was traveling solo so I didn’t care much but I wouldn’t take my kids there. Very outdated hotel. It’s the kind of room where you feel like you need a shower when you leave for the day. Old chipping paint with cracks and holes in random places in the walls. Again, it’s not terrible. I’ve stayed in worse. & The staff was really nice. Really just an old trucker hotel. I’d spend alittle more and stay somewhere if I brought the fam with me

The entry light kept going off at night. Understand it was their version of a night light, but there was a VERY BRIGHT bulb. Very annoying. Also, you had to get out of bed to turn off the light by thd bed. Way too high to reach.

Room was very clean; parking was easy. Other guests were quite loud; fire alarm went off briefly.

We had a nice stay. The room was clean and neat but needs modernizing. USB plugs would be an huge help. Some of the wallpaper and baseboards need were damaged or missing and need replaced. Otherwise it was a good visit.

Our heater/AC unit didnt work so we had to keep the window open to cool the room down. But the room was clean. Breakfast was good. Room above us was kinda loud but we cant blame the hotel for that. Overall a nice place.

Hotel was incredibly dirty. We moved rooms twice, and the second room was worse. When I asked for an additional blanket, they said they didn’t have any, and then they went to the back and gave us one, but it returned, and it had blood on it. Also, in our room, the tub had bug carcasses in it. The walls had blood and snot on it, it was very gross. And the overall condition of the hotel was uncapped, and very dirty. But we spoke to management and they couldn’t do anything for us unless we spoke with Expedia. The stuff was not friendly, was always on the phone, and also used repetitive swear words to my husband, while we were checking in, and receiving that additional blanket.

We had a small problem in our room and the staff bent over backwards to assist us.

Staff was rude. Room was not clean and sheets were dirty. Asked for a new room, they said no because they were fully booked. Asked for someone to come clean or at least change the sheet, they said no because housekeeping had gone home. Asked for our money back so we could go to another hotel, they said no because we used a “3rd party booking site.” They did give us clean sheets to change the beds ourselves, and I found some clorox wipes to clean the bathroom with. It wasn’t a good start to our vacation.

The only reason we booked this hotel is because of the indoor pool. When we arrived after a long time in the car with a small kid, they were looking forward to it so much. The lady at the desk said it would be closed for our entire stay, no apology or nothing. I guess they are doing ceiling repairs (which would take time) and never updated their listing. When I asked if we might get a partial refund or something for their inaccurate description, they just said no. Property was also not in great shape, dirty and cracked tub, chipped and broken furniture, etc. Would not recommend.

I need the option of ZERO stars!! The room smelled like cat urine!! The fridge leaked water everywhere, the toilet was broken so we had to take the lid off the back to flush the toilet! Tell me how a housekeeper can clean a bathroom if the toilet doesn’t flush?? Shower curtain was filthy! Hand towels were dirty!! We told the guy at the front desk THE MINUTE we saw our room that we needed a new room-he stared at his computer screen for 5 minutes and said “all the rooms are assigned”-when I asked if everyone has arrived to check in, he admitted they had not but kept saying “they’re already assigned”, he told me he would “speak to my manager” and get back to me-10 minutes later I went back. “I can’t reach him, he’ll be here in 2 hours”. We had a concert to go to and didn’t have time to wait. Then he says “you have problem with room?” Yeah…we do!!! What the heck!!! He refused to give us another room and we tried to go somewhere else and they were booked up in the area! I want a refund-it was disgusting and the staff is inept!!!

I have to say my biggest thing about a hotel is the bed. I found these to be on the firmer side. I prefer a little softer bed, but to each their own, I'm just putting it out there. Everything else was good. Pool was posted to be out of service. We didn't want to use it. Breakfast was very tasty, eggs, sausage, pancakes, toasts, muffins and bagels. We liked the Steamers Tavern acoss the road from the hotel.

The hotel is under serious construction. Everything was covered in dust and dirt. All the fire equipment was on the floor. Our beds were wrapped in plastic and we had to remove it ourselves. It took the front desk person nearly 20 mins to find clean bedding for us. The room climate came in one temp- hotter than the sun. We had the AC on in February and still were sweating. No hot water, no WiFi, no phone in the room. The surfaces in the room were sticky and dusty. The “breakfast” was served covered by dirty plastic drop cloths. Save your money - this place is a disaster and should not be taking reservations. Also hotel refused a refund because I didn’t talk to the person at the front desk TODAY. Apparently the chat with yesterday’s desk staff isn’t good enough.

The rooms were nice and they were clean. Breakfast was very good and the breakfast area was very clean. The bed was comfortable as well
