Making the most of your time at Tanat House begins with exploring the surrounding attractions. Step back in time with a visit to National Trust - Chirk Castle, an impressive Medieval fortification just a short drive away. Young and old alike will love Park Hall The Countryside Experience, offering hands-on farming experiences, joyful animal encounters and extensive countryside paths to explore. History aficionados will revel in the ancient wonders of the Old Oswestry Hill Fort, while nature lovers will delight in the lush landscapes of the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve in beautiful Montgomeryshire. Discover more of the local heritage at the Llanymynech Heritage Area and the serene Ifton Meadows. Finally, don't miss the chance to chug along aboard the vintage trains at the Cambrian Heritage Railway. Rest, relaxation, adventure and history all converge at Tanat House. Trefonen is a rural village which stands between the ancient English border town of Oswestry and the Welsh village of Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, home to Pistyll Rhaeadr, the UK's highest single drop waterfall. This traditional village boasts a pub, shop and has Offa's Dyke pathway running through the village. It is located close to where the successful 1995 film "The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain" was filmed. Visit the riverside town of Llangollen with the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (a World Heritage Site), Chirk and Powis Castles and Gardens, Erddig and Attingham Park, or visit the nearby market town of Ellesmere. Further afield lies the Welsh mountains and coast and picturesque Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, while the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, medieval Shrewsbury and the Roman city of Chester are also within driving distance.
