SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Point Richmond

During our stay, we encountered several issues that marred our experience. The pool was dirty, and on the second day, we were horrified to discover a dead rat floating in it. When we reported it to the front desk, their response was lackluster; they simply said they'd call someone to remove it without any further assistance or action to clean the area. This lack of concern for guest safety and hygiene was very disappointing. The front desk was almost never available in the front, always at the back. The lounge area, on Friday Morning, there was not enough food for all guest plus there was not enough large plates. We asked and the lady said. Oh its for 1st come first served basis. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

It's a fine motel, the breakfast is actually pretty good - scrambled eggs, sausages, waffles - BUT if you get the wrong room there is no wi-fi and very little cable. I was told my room in "building 2" was in a "dead zone" and ultimately moved to a room in "building 1" that had perfect wi-fi and cable.

I stayed here w my kids… I wish the pool and pool area was clean - the pool was dirty had sooo much dog hair… the room was clean. They only gave us 2 large towels for 4 of us - I had to ask for extra. Breakfast was good on the 2nd day. They had sausage and eggs. In the evening and following morning there was a really strong smell of cigarette and weed coming from the adjacent room next to us.

All the fixtures in the room were fairly new. It looked new. There is a railway track near the inn. We could hear horn, trains passing by many times. It did not bother us as we had ways to muffle the noise. The place was very cold due to the fact that it is close to the bay. That is just an observation, not an issue with the inn itself. I liked the fitness center. There is a resistance machine, treadmill, but no weights.

Easy check in and out. Security Guard on duty. My family and I felt right at home. Front desk staff, super helpful.

The lobby and the rooms are nice and clean but the rest of the property is dirty and seem unsafe. No elevator to accommodate the disable

Housekeeping only made 1 bed and provided us with 1 clean towel for 2 registered guest. Pool and gym were closed. Front desk were very unprofessional at check in time .

stay there quite a bit in the winter when we are snowmobiling. Big parking lot for the trailers.

Although the actual room was very acceptable the door frame had a gap. The pool did not look to be kept up. The back side of the building where the ice machine was located by the maintenance room. The light in that hallway was burnt out so it was very dark at night. And there was trash scattered around. It was a poor location for an ice machine. There were also to vendor machines which were out of order.

Some way dirty, old electric connection bad condition or not working, old curtains, uncomfortable pillows

We did not stay the light did not work when we walked in. The room was dirty and sheets. We had to fight with the door to shut it. We were in and out of the room in less than 5 minutes and asking for a refund.

So filthy inside the rooms and outside the property. Avoid staying here

This best western was one of the worst I’ve ever stayed up. I have always been a fan of best Western hotels, but there was mold in the bathroom ceiling and tub. The floor was filthy, and when I stood on the towel to walk around, it was black on the bottom of the towel. The room smelt like cigarette smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. Would not stay there ever again.

The floor was so filthy our feet were black. I washed the floor myself and the towels were black after. I went to tell the staff, he said nothing but did give me the new towels I requested.

The property is definitely showing its age. While clean, the room was dated. The toilet needed to be fiddled with to refill the water. The tv didn’t work, but we were only there for the night. Probably the most problematic thing was the proximity of the train switching yard. The train yard was two blocks away, so quite a bit of noise.

Two separate sets of keys would not open our first room. The maintenance worker had to let us in. The room smelled funny, almost like covered up smoke. The window shade was torn and falling apart and there were paint chips all over the window sill. Our second room was better but walls are thin. They had a sign that said “complimentary ear plugs” but there weren’t any. Noise was mostly coming from outside.

Tv didn’t work

Alright experience, the shower was clogged and the bed wasn’t in the best condition.

Remember how I told you where we stayed (Richmond) seemed “rough”? Even the room was ghetto like. The black out shades which covered the front window (no curtain) were torn, the microwave was broken, barely “any” water came out of the shower, the Kleenex box was empty of tissues, there was very little lighting in the room and too dark, they had no hand towels and only thin wash clothes and towels, blanket on bed was paper thin and frayed (I was cold all night). Also, there was no real shower, only an “area of the bathroom “supposedly indented” where you turn the shower head on. Consequently, water got over the whole bathroom floor! You also had to stand on uneven flooring to use sink, since next to shower area so half of the floor in front of sink was higher and half lower. And bathroom sink was cracked, and one office chair, no comfy chairs to sit in. Oh, and also when we checked in @10:15pm or so, besides paying for the room, they required a separate $50. payment in case we damage the room (which if we don’t they give back but obviously it will take a few days to get back into our account).

Door lock on Room 101 has a major malfunction. Did not close completely so mortise lock could be engaged. I did not feel safe, and lost much sleep.

Room 101 (handicapped access) Corner units need some serious attention on the front door. There is no door seal whatsoever. You can hear all noises from outside

The bed was the lifted on a frame that made it so high my wife had to put a chair next to the bed to get in/out. I forgot in the middle of the night and almost fell. When we first walked in the room, it smelled musty. Unusual, since it looked clean and was all hard flooring. Once the floor A/C had been on for a while, the smell was reduced. There wasn't anything but a tiny gas station near the property to get snacks or a drink.

Price wise pretty good, but , We tried to check in early , cost us $40 , we had 3 rooms total So once we paid for one they let us know the others can check in , in a hour . Like, okay I guess we paid $40 already. Also requested extra blankets but didn’t get them, area wise kinda scary . And the vending machine scammed me .

My state was horrible poor service very unprofessional attendant felt harassed

This was my 3rd time at this hotel. The individual who checked me in was extremely rude. I would say the rudest I have ever encountered at any hotel. Very childlike behavior and just plain rude. Also lied to me over the phone when I asked about check out time. Other staff are nice but this individual does not fit in at all. Does she know the owner who gave her the job? Has to be bc she shouldn't be working at front desk. Very rude person. Harassing.

Room was comfortable and the staff was very nice and responsive to what I was asking. Breakfast is a solid 10👍. However, the area and the outdoor condition of property is poor. Need new blinds in the room for sure...

Overall, for the price a good stay. Some sketchy people walking around the property all afternoon and evening, some being told to leave then coming back immediately. Lots of garbage around the parking lot. Pool area and rooms nearby seemed nice and more welcoming. Breakfast was sufficient. Had to switch rooms twice because the first two smelled strongly of smoke. Staff we very nice and helpful. I would stay again for the price we paid.

At the end of the day this is a motel but, if you are busy going round town and coming back to sleep and you have your own transport, I do highly recommend it. Staff was very very helpful and my room was immaculate.

The gentleman who checked us in was extremely friendly and informative about what places were close by and how to get there. He was very accommodating for us when we were having some technical difficulties on our end checking in. He walked us through the whole process and made it much easier to understand. I never write reviews anywhere! But this man left a great impression on us both and we wanted to make sure he gets credit for it. If we had the money to tip him I would have done it for sure but we were on a tight budget. I would definitely stay here again we slept so good! There are vending machines too and good breakfast, but if you don’t have a car then I’d recommend going to the store first, it was a 30 minute walk to 711/nearest gas station etc. -Jessica (Juan’s gf) from grass valley.

ive waited 3 weeks for my deposit to be returned. i left the room in perfect condition. they are giving me a run-around and lying about banking procedures, saying my refund was returned with no record.

Do Not stay at this property if you value your privacy. On the first night staying there me and my wife called the front desk to let them know the cable and wifi where having issues and we were told it will fix it's self (it did not). A few nights later we received a call from the hotel requesting permission to enter the room to fix the neighbors cable we told them that we were not comfortable with them entering the room and that we would be back in 1-2hrs. They entered the room anyways and tried to simply say nothing hoping we wouldn't notice but it was very noticeable. When I went to the front desk with no prodding at all they told me they went in and that the manager told them to. I asked to speak with the manager and was told they would be in the next morning at 9, so I delayed the start of my work day to speak with them. When I went to the front desk I was told the manager was in surgery but might be back later. I made a complaint to best western who assured me I would have a response in 2-5 day. 1 week later I called them back as there had been no response, they said there was a response on the system not one that had been relayed to me. It seems that magically the cable for the room next to me had turned into the power for 4 rooms making it justifiable. When I informed the agent that they called us and specifically stated it was a cable issue multiple times they said is there any thing else I can help you with. TLDR: They will enter your room any time they like and lie

Staff was friendly helpful and professional.

It's right next to freeway exit, pretty noisy, they even provided ear plugs. The room is specious and clean, mattress is good. Come with breakfast between 6a-9a, nothing fancy but sufficient. The area just give you an uncomfortable feeling, I didn't see anything weird but just not letting me feel safe.

Good location for Richmond ferry. Otherwise, pretty industrial area, functional but not scenic. Train rumbles by, but they provided earplugs.

We were disappointed that the property was in a pretty “rough” area of town. There were people prowling cars and a person in the parking lot doing drugs. The room itself was nice, but we opted to check out and move to a different hotel as we had a child with us and didn’t want to risk something happening.

Lights outside room blinks constantly, affect sleep. Location next to train track, going on all night.

Safe for the area. A lot of truck and train noise if you happen to be a light sleeper.

Old, worn down motel-style right by the highway and railroad. Free breakfast doesn't hold up to Best Western general level.

Everything was ok...it's a good location...room was clean...hairdryer...coffee pot. Sits near the Richmond San Rafael bridge. If you're headed north it's $8 toll. 2 things I didn't like...breakfast was ok but having a waffle machine and toaster there was no butter and no one to ask for it. Mattress was very firm and only one thin blanket available

The room was recently renovated. Had an outside street side room and freeway noise was bad. The vending machines were empty and no place to get bottled water. The breakfast was awful. The only cereal was cornflakes or instant oatmeal. Waffle machine but no maple syrup. Only fruit was apples. Scrambled eggs tasted awful and sulfury.

Clean rooms and decent breakfast. Nice staff. Very bare bones though.

Stay here if you must, but not if you can avoid it. The breakfast isn’t great as non-guests can access it and use their bare hands.

Not much surrounding hotel but a few blocks away was a great bar and small shops. Room was great. Breakfast not the best but doable.
