Within a few miles of Moat View you can walk stretches of the wall and enjoy reading the history along the way. Talkin Tarn Country Park just outside the town is beautiful with its 65-acre lake set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland, the ideal place to enjoy a walk or even try your hand at some boating on the lake. The beautiful border city of Carlisle is a short 20-minute drive away where you can visit the castle or just take in some retail therapy at some of the high street shops. You can take a short drive over the border to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway and the pretty village of Gretna Green. While in Cumbria, however, no stay would be complete without a visit to the stunning Lake District National Park, now a World Heritage Site, with its mountains and lakes and thriving communities like Keswick and Windermere.
