Talkin Tarn Country Park just outside the town is beautiful with its 65-acre lake set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland, the ideal place to enjoy a walk or even try your hand at some boating on the lake. The beautiful border city of Carlisle is a short 20-minute drive away where you can visit the castle or just take in some retail therapy at some of the high street shops. You can take a short drive over the border to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway and the pretty village of Gretna Green.
