The town is surrounded by the Arnsberger Wald hiking area and the Ruhr meaders around it, with the ever more popular Ruhrtal cycle trail. You can walk to various sights around town in a few minutes: the Sauerland Museum, Kulturschmiede, castle ruins, art exhibition, the classicistic district by Neumarkt, the Romanesque Probstei Church etc. The nearest shopping facilities are about 500 metres away.
