Orcheston is situated on Salisbury Plain, 300 square miles of chalk downland, which features a wealth of archaeological heritage, including the World Heritage Site at Stonehenge. Partly used for army training, the Plain's countryside has been preserved as a haven for wild birds, animals and plantlife. Chalk streams flow around the edge of the Plain, much favoured by fly fishermen, whilst the attractive streamside villages offer thatched cottages and country pubs.
