Just off from here is the sitting room, a comfortable space with a Smart TV, made for lazy evenings after a day out exploring. Head upstairs to the first floor, where two welcoming double bedrooms await, one of which has its own TV for a bit of evening viewing. The family bathroom is also on this floor, fitted with a bath, shower over, basin and WC, perfect for a well-earned soak or a brisk morning freshen-up. Continue up to the second floor to discover another double bedroom with its own TV, a peaceful spot to switch off and recharge. Step outside to enjoy a breath of fresh air and start plotting tomorrow's adventures. Make sure to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Workington by visiting the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth, the National Trust-owned Wordsworth House and Garden. Take a journey through the history of the West Coast at The Beacon Museum, then experience the world of the Romans at Senhouse Roman Museum. Indulge in a unique voyage of discovery via The Rum Story & Jefferson's Shop, a journey from the Caribbean to Whitehaven and onward to Jefferson's rum shop. Pay a visit to the Helena Thompson Museum, offering fascinating insights into Georgian and Victorian Workington, followed by a leisurely stroll to the remnants of the romantically ruined Workington Hall. Whatever your preferences, Lonsdale Street offers the perfect base for your Workington exploration. Workington is an ancient market and port town on the west coast of Cumbria, based at mouth of the River Derwent. The town has a selection of shops, bars and two theatres, as well as five churches and history dating back to Roman times, with forts positioned on the coast as coastal defences. Curwen Hall is a striking ruin, which was originally built around a pele tower that dates back to the 14th century and was used to shelter Mary Queen of Scots on her last flight to Scotland before her execution. In more recent time, Workington was known for the production of high quality iron ore and mining, and the town's industrial history can be learnt at the maritime museum based on the cliffs in nearby Whithaven. The western side of the Lake District National Park can be reached in less than half an hour's drive, to the west is the Solway Firth and its designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and to the east are the Lakeland Hills. A wonderful base for exploring the Cumbrian coastline.
