Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel

The air conditioner was a little loud but it worked good. Great internet service. Comfortable beds very clean. Pool was wonderful.

The parking was very convenient, and staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the bar in the evening. Drinks were very cheap and they had a band on Saturday night. We both won money that night at the casino!

Very comfy hotel and nice pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, even though it was Father's day and I had a discount coupon, from the casino, for Sunday at the nice restaurant, Mr. G's but they were closed. The only place to eat was the fast food place triple 7's. The food is reasonably priced and good but it's fast food. I wanted to treat my husband to a special dinner for the holiday. We were very disappointed.

Nice small casino attached to the hotel, racetrack is a short distance with covered walkway.

The place was very outdated and felt ran down, our ac stopped working. The elevator started going up as soon as the doors open and one stop making anywhere from 3-5 inch lip, it didn’t do it everytime but at least 4 times while we were there for 2 days.

Hot tub needs attention. Only one jet works. However, our room was clean and the shower was hot!

It was an older place but rooms had lots of updates. Our room had a couch table and chairs and a sink microwave fridge and coffee maker. Was very spacious ( 3 floor even #s no view Hot tub was not bad not large (6) could’ve been a little hotter The casino was a decent size with a good variety of slots Restaurants good variety for not a large place. We had the Friday buffet and it was worth it. Breakfast to go so we could eat in the room was great for the price

Convenient of the highway stop. Not a casino goer but good food options. Pool was Ol But crowded with non-swimmers.

The pool hot tub was pretty nice. Walking distance from the casino also really nice. I didn’t get to go last visit but I’m definitely gonna come back…

Room was spotless, the staff was outstanding.

I was not impressed with the overall cleanliness of the facility. My room had visiable spider webs in the corners, the coffee maker in the room was absolutely filthy so much so that I wouldn't make coffee in it. I also noticed handprints on the wall above our bed that completely grossed me out.

Bathroom sink was clogged, drained very slow. Not well lit in the room itself. CONTINETAL BREAKFAST could be better with hot food sausage, eggs waffles.. staff was very friendly

Very friendly and helpful staff. You can tell the owners just had a lot of stuff redone to keep everything fresh and clean. Every thing is convenient and easy. Free Wi-Fi easy no complicated setup it just works. Same with the tv just turn it on change the channel. Everything just works nice and easy.

The hotel was really tired and expensive! Ripped sheet, yucky old blankets, super dark room with very little lights, burned out lights, faucets leaked and would not turn off, no water bottles and broken phone. Breakfast was packaged pastries and coffee

Clean rooms but needs a remodel

Stayed here for a Dance Competition at the local high school so we didn't go down to the track or casino, but the room was really nice, spacious, and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Room was clean and you can tell it was recently updated. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. If I need to come back to this area I would stay here again.

We went to go visit our daughter & son-in-law and granddaughter and we were very pleased with the hotel. The rooms were very very clean. The beds were super comfortable. The pool area was really nice and our granddaughter enjoyed it so much. My daughter and i had a bunch of fun playing slots at the casino and even won a little money. The only negative that we had was the buffet wasn't very good at all. I don't know if we just got there at a bad time or what , but everything else was so nice and i think my husband and i have found the perfect place to stay when we visit our daughter, and with the ridiculous prices at many of the hotels in that area Vernon downs was one of the few with lower room prices. See ya next year Vernon downs!!!

The bathroom was not stocked, shower gel and toilet paper were empty. Shower floor not clean, ceiling cracked and peeling. Entrance trash bins were overflowing. Breakfast was all carbohydrates and sugar, no eggs or meat. I am a diabetic and there were no options for someone watching their sugar intake. Carpets in the hall were stained. Property seems more neglected each time we stay while prices continue to rise. Disappointing. I stay for the convenience. Bar and restaurant not open at all. Could understand limited hours, but not open at all is disappointing.

Stayed in hotel one night during road trip. Room was spacious and clean. Facilities were a little dated but more than adequate. Would stay again.

Found last minute and did great for the price. Air conditioning was cold which was most important after being outside on a hot day.

Room was spacious, clean and uodated. Very comfortable. The only problem i had was the noise coming from people shouting in the parking lot and doors banging in the hallway late at night.

Great location. Didnt go to gamble just wanted a good hotel with a pool. We definitely got a nice clean pool. Clean hotel room except one pillow case was past its prime for sure. Otherwise a great stay except the a.c. unit. It is loud when it turns on and off even though I selected continuous flow. I would give it a 9 out of 10. Could use a system of air that didnt wake me up very often and breakfast could use a slight bit more but overall would return.

Our 3 star is due to the room having an odd smell and the beds being very uncomfortable- SUPER soft. Otherwise no complaints.

We were very happy with the accommodations there. The rooms were very quiet & spacious and the the beds were very comfortable. The food options were pretty good. They have a few different dining options that were all very affordable. Nice quiet location just 12 minutes away from Turning Stone and 20 minutes away from Utica. Did wish that they had a Continental breakfast available on the weekends tho. Overall, very happy with this hotel. Will stay there again!

The new girl on the counter working over nights was the BEST!

Hotel & room was fine. We were in town for a wedding & planned to check in at 3pm which was the check in time. We planned on getting dressed & ready at the hotel. I called ahead to make sure that would work, person on the phone stated that is fine. Once we arrived at 3pm they said room wasn’t ready. We would have made other plans if I was told on the phone the room wouldn’t have been ready so was disappointed with the delay and incorrect information. We had to rush to get ready and barely made it to the wedding on time.

While leaving the hotel to go to your casino,at the front desk we asked if we could purchase some kind of headache medicine. The lady took us to your locked store/room and just found empty boxes so she went to get full cases to restock. After purchasing her tylenol she asked for water. They said walk down the hall to vending. Vending machine was broken. I told them and asked if they had a cup of water or something back there. Nope! I said that’s OK I will walk all the way back up to our room so I can get my wife a water from our room that we brought in with us. As I turned around when we went into the elevator to go back to our room I looked over and saw them laughing. Maybe they thought it was funny but we sure didn’t. I would expect a much higher level of service from a hotel casino. I am absolutely positive that if they wanted to help my wife get some water she would not have had to go back to her room just to take an aspirin. Those shelves should’ve been already stocked and they could’ve at least pretended like they cared about taking care of the guests. The lady at least stood up to disappoint us. The young punk guy just sat there not caring. There would be some changes happening at my hotel if I owned it

The staff were amazing! They were extremely helpful with check in and check out process. They gave great recommendations for local spots to eat. Overall they made the experience enjoyable.

In general the entire staff displayed a dismissive attitude when dealing with guests. You could tell that this was just a paycheck for them and they were just working until their shift was done. On our next visit to the area we will stay at the Turning Stone casino. We were extremely disappointed with our stay.

Booked this room for my husband and stepson for a father/son weekend. They really enjoyed their stay there. Convenient to all the places they wanted to visit. Would stay sgain

Way out in the middle of nowhere. At 8:30 pm only one place to eat which was a small burger place with about 5 tables. Otherwise big room with a sticky entrance floor, a nice room. Breakfast was Danish, donuts, bagels, English muffins, etc. Coffee ok. Nice patio view of the race track

We like to come and spend the night at least once a year!! Sometimes more - Not as crazy busy as the big casino down the road. Hometown feel..great bands on Saturday nights..and great dining at Mr Gs!!! Love Vernon Downs!!!

They say they have free continental breakfast, but fail to say that is only during the week, on weekends, you have to pay for it. And of course the room rates are higher The pool is beautiful, but not heated and the whirlpool is broken. Fitness center is okay, good equipment that works. I am Vegan and there was NOTHING that I could eat in any of the three restaurants,. Well maybe something at the buffet, but I just wanted something light and the buffet is $20. The staff is not informed. I asked the front desk person where the pool was located and she didn’t know even though it was right around the corner and down the hall. A lady in the restaurant sent two of us up to the third floor for the breakfast buffet, only to discover there is no free buffet on weekends. When I checked in I was given a room on the third floor, only to discover it was right across from the elevator and there was a wedding party all over the hall, I had to almost fight my way to get to my room. I went back to the front desk and asked for a different room and got an ARGUMENT from the lady about the wedding was over and they would be leaving etc. I asked again for different room. Had to take a young man with me to go get my bags and return the key because I had left my bags in the room rather than haul them around. I had a suitcase and several bags and he didn’t even offer he help me move my things. I am 83. My new room looked like it had not been finished and I had to call down to the fro

This is a great place. Clean comfortable rooms, connected to the casino. My only complaint is there was only the mirror in the bathroom which was a little difficult for getting ready, and the continental breakfast is only during the week which was disappointing. Overall I would stay again because of its location.

Only thing we didn’t like was no continental breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays, only Monday- Friday. Other options weren’t that great. Wait times to be seated and served at Mr P’s were long, and service slow. Other place, Triple 7’s inside casino, wasn’t good either.
