Lovely hotel with friendly staff that make you feel welcome. More personal approach than in the bigger chain hotel which was really nice over the Christmas period. Great breakfast, continental as a buffet and hot breakfast to order with a good selection. The room was comfortable and homely and additional needs are met with a smile. The back bedrooms (others will be seaview) look over trees and a quiet lane that runs behind and above the hotel, but could have some noise from the kitchen/extractor fan’s below when in use, but it didn’t bother us. If you prefer to be away from that and enjoy the stunning sea view towards St Helier be sure to book a sea view room. Free parking for hotel guests and there was always a space even though it’s not a huge carpark. The up-hill walk up to the hotel from St Aubin’s is a bit of a climb, but doable even for those that don’t class themselves as fit, but for someone with poor mobility it will be better to take the car. Restaurant serves good quality food in a nice environment especially when able to take in that sea view with a great service. In the summer there is a nice outside pool, but a short walk downhill leads to the beach on either side of the harbour depending on the tide. We will stay here again

We stayed at The Somerville for a short break away and would definitely return. We had dinner at Tides restaurant on our first evening and it was superb. Breakfast was also lovely each morning. We enjoyed several drinks in the hotel’s Voyager bar which also didn’t disappoint. The staff we interacted with were all extremely professional and efficient. We enjoyed the outdoor pool area during our stay. Sunloungers were very comfortable. The pool was very cold (not sure if it is heated) but I enjoyed a refreshing swim. Perhaps the area around the pool could be a little tidier in terms of clearing the patio areas of accumulated fallen leaves etc. Worth noting also is that the rooms do not have air conditioning and ours was extremely warm. A fan is provided in the room however. We had booked a standard double room on this occasion which was too small/cramped. Next time we would definitely book a larger room.

Lovely hotel that maintains standards from a bygone time. I almost felt that Agatha Christie might appear! Fabulous sea view restaurant, lots of choice for breakfast. Nice lunch and dinner options. Comfy beds.

The Somerville is a lovely place to stay, with friendly, approachable, informative and attentive staff. Our superior double room was most comfortable and the shower had access to water that we actually understood! Gorgeous views. Fabulous areas both inside and out for relaxing. Sparkling pool. Steep walk up from the village, where there are good restaurants- tad tiring for we oldies! Would recommend.

Great location to spend time at if visiting for a few days. We were lucky and had a week. Great breakfast and service. Had an excellent meal in Tides and cocktails were great - especially in happy hour.

Due to a family bereavement in Jersey I had to stay at The Somerville for close to 3 weeks. The hotel was lovely, some history to it, great location overlooking St Aubin's Bay and only a short distance to the pubs and restaurants. Staff were fantastic, very sympathetic in view of my reason for staying there, very professional and nothing was a problem to help. Car park right outside hotel and always a lovely welcome from all the staff when one returned. Highly recommend. Thankyou Somerville.

The hotel has been very stylishly updated and the public reception rooms are smart and comfortable. Beautiful bedroom overlooking St Aubin's Bay. The room would suit a double rather than a king-sized bed as that slightly fouls entrance to the room. Excellent lighting. The bedroom windows are not a snug fit so that the room was chilly. This was as much my fault in not adjusting the radiator's thermostatic valve ! Light and well equipped bathroom. It lacked a hand held shower and when bathing, the soap dispenser was inaccessible. A traditional bar of soap would solve the problem. Fortunately, even when staying in 4 or 5star hotels, I always pack soap but it's always disappointing when a hotel of this quality doesn't quite think things through. Good quality linen and towels. Views from the beautifully decorated lounge, over the bay to St Helier are wonderful. But the main draw here are the wonderful staff who go out of their way to help you, get to know you and your interests and make recommemdations and do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderul time.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Probably the best we’ve stayed in. Staff great nothing too much trouble. Pool lovely, clean and warm. Can’t fault it at all.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we've really enjoyed it. Friendly, helpful staff, clean and smart, in a great location. I would definitely recommend it.

After living in st aubin for over 20 years, this hotel has the best location in the island with many dining options at the hotel and village. The hill is a little steep. Somerville staff were very welcoming and it has an old world charm of an English country hotel. The rooms need a little modernizing but I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to jersey.

A wonderful hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and everything was superb. The staff are attentive and friendly. Our room was clean and what we expected. All in all a lovely hotel

The service was excellent and the restaurant was good as well. My bed was made everyday, and bathroom towels were cleaned up or replenished. I give the WiFi a 2/10 though. There were some important work calls I had to skip out on because the wifi just simply did not support a video conference.

The hotel was beautiful and service provided excellent. The only reason for the 4 star rating is that the room got very warm and it proved difficult to sleep at night. With no air conditioning the only way to stay cool as night was to use the small fan provided and leave the windows open. We were there when the temperature was averaging 23 degrees, any hotter would have been uncomfortable. Overall a superb hotel which didn’t disappoint

The Somerville is a lovely place to stay, with friendly, approachable, informative and attentive staff. Our superior double room was most comfortable and the shower had access to water that we actually understood! Gorgeous views. Fabulous areas both inside and out for relaxing. Sparkling pool. Steep walk up from the village, where there are good restaurants- tad tiring for we oldies! Would recommend.

The hotel has been very stylishly updated and the public reception rooms are smart and comfortable. Beautiful bedroom overlooking St Aubin's Bay. The room would suit a double rather than a king-sized bed as that slightly fouls entrance to the room. Excellent lighting. The bedroom windows are not a snug fit so that the room was chilly. This was as much my fault in not adjusting the radiator's thermostatic valve ! Light and well equipped bathroom. It lacked a hand held shower and when bathing, the soap dispenser was inaccessible. A traditional bar of soap would solve the problem. Fortunately, even when staying in 4 or 5star hotels, I always pack soap but it's always disappointing when a hotel of this quality doesn't quite think things through. Good quality linen and towels. Staff professional and helpful. Breakfast and bar food excellent and very good value. I've stayed before and will stay again !

Good breakfast, nicely updated decor, comfortable furnishings, beautiful views. Some of the rooms only have smaller double beds, so we recommend booking a twin/king room.

We loved the location and character of the property. Most of the staff were lovely can we mention the man whose name starts with O on reception is exceptional who genuinely goes out of his way to help. When we left on very early Saturday morning a lovely man on reception whose name we didn’t get again went out of his way to call a cab and whilst waiting made us coffee. The breakfasts were also really good. The rooms were very quirky but to warm.

The service was excellent and the restaurant was good as well. My bed was made everyday, and bathroom towels were cleaned up or replenished. I give the WiFi a 2/10 though. There were some important work calls I had to skip out on because the wifi just simply did not support a video conference.

Friendly helpful staff. We had an early flight and arrived early expecting to leave bags at reception but our room was ready and able to check in which after an early morning start was very much appreciated.

We had another fantastic stay at the Somerville Hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We were met at the door by a very friendly gentleman who welcomed us to the Hotel and showed us to reception. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived giving us information on all surrounding areas and interesting places to visit and taking our cases to our room. Once in our room, we found a welcome gift and card congratulating us on our anniversary which was nice. Our room was lovely and spacious with a large bathroom and stunning views of the bay. If I had to be picky the only negative about our whole experience was that at breakfast, on the second morning, our order was mislaid or forgotten and we were left waiting with an empty table for around an hour before I enquired about where our breakfast was. It was then another 15 minutes until the food appeared with lots of apologies. This blip didn’t spoil our stay as we were looked after very well each morning after and nothing was too much trouble. 😊

A lovely hotel in a super location. Glorious views across the bay from the main lounge & dining room. Lots of dining options in the town, all within walking distance. Staff were excellent & nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Food was excellent & beautifully presented. Would love to return & definitely recommend 😊

Due to a family bereavement in Jersey I had to stay at The Somerville for close to 3 weeks. The hotel was lovely, some history to it, great location overlooking St Aubin's Bay and only a short distance to the pubs and restaurants. Staff were fantastic, very sympathetic in view of my reason for staying there, very professional and nothing was a problem to help. Car park right outside hotel and always a lovely welcome from all the staff when one returned. Highly recommend. Thankyou Somerville.

Great hotel, good location, very friendly evening bar staff and head receptionist was also very nice. Service in breakfast room was variable, felt rushed, often asked to choose tea or coffee etc before even seated. Asked about cooked breakfast options before even starting cereal. Cooked breakfast options could have been served hotter. Ran out of coffee cups & pastries on two occasions.

Views from the beautifully decorated lounge, over the bay to St Helier are wonderful. But the main draw here are the wonderful staff who go out of their way to help you, get to know you and your interests and make recommemdations and do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderul time.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Probably the best we’ve stayed in. Staff great nothing too much trouble. Pool lovely, clean and warm. Can’t fault it at all.

We never tired of the view and although it's elevated position means a short trundle up a hill if you're on foot, it's well worth it and not at all strenuous. The food is excellent and the hotel is very comfortable.

After living in st aubin for over 20 years, this hotel has the best location in the island with many dining options at the hotel and village. The hill is a little steep. Somerville staff were very welcoming and it has an old world charm of an English country hotel. The rooms need a little modernizing but I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to jersey.

We loved our stay at The Somerville. The staff were always so helpful and friendly, the food was delicious and the rooms were beautifully decorated. Despite the hill it's built on, it is in easy walking distance to restaurants, pubs and a convenience store, and has good transport links to other parts of the island.

Lovely hotel that maintains standards from a bygone time. I almost felt that Agatha Christie might appear! Fabulous sea view restaurant, lots of choice for breakfast. Nice lunch and dinner options. Comfy beds.

Very poor experience for us. A last minute booking due to the travel chaos. The first room we were presented with was above the kitchens and noisy fans. My partner is 8 months pregnant and I was very unwell for the whole stay. We were relocated to a ground floor room where deliveries and maintenance men were parking, coming and going, leaving engines on. I had to knock on the window at 12.45am to break up a loud conversation between two hotel employees. We did think the hotel had been tastefully updated in the common areas. The views from the lounge area were beautiful. The outside pool is also a big plus. The food was an absolute car crash. My partner had room service which was £44 for a sirloin steak half a mushroom and half a tomato and a side or two. I didn’t make breakfast on the first day due to ill health but on the second day, wow. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough was tragic. The salmon was pumped full of water and I’m convinced the egg out of a plastic carton. It was anaemic and the texture was very strange. I couldn’t even stomach a bite. I overheard they only schedule one chef on for morning service. The laundry woman was very pleasant and Krzysztof the receptionist was very kind sorting out a late check out. We had a better experience at the Royal Jersey. I would definitely give this place a miss if you want value for money and quality food.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, I felt at ease parking my Caterham 7 in the car park there. Breakfast was very good although they did get my wife's breakfast order slightly mixed up a couple of times.

I had a friendly greeting at the Hotel, lovely room which was nice & quiet, spotlessly clean All of the Staff were very helpful, i enjoyed the breakfast too! Lovely view of the Harbour whilst you are eating or having a drink in the Bar 5 mins down the hill to the Harbour and shops I would definitly stay there again, thank you

Unfortunately Our twin room was very small and dark not the type of room you want on a getaway holiday . Another issue was that we got up and went down for breakfast at 8:30am to find a 16 people waiting in a queue for breakfast so we had to stand there for 30 min … obviously everyone was getting very irritated. Overall I’ve stayed in a few hotels in Jersey and have had much nicer experiences, I have stayed at the Summerville once before and unfortunately have had the same type of room this time I was hoping for a different experience with such a lovely situated hotel.
Unfortunately Our twin room was very small and dark not the type of room you want on a getaway holiday . Another issue was that we got up and went down for breakfast at 8:30am to find a 16 people waiting in a queue for breakfast so we had to stand there for 30 min … obviously everyone was getting very irritated. Overall I’ve stayed in a few hotels in Jersey and have had much nicer experiences, I have stayed at the Summerville once before and unfortunately have had the same type of room this time I was hoping for a different experience with such a lovely situated hotel.
