Explore the local town of Kendal with its independent retailers, restaurants and bars as well as a selection of museums and Kendal Arts Centre which offers a cinema and various live performances. The popular towns of Bowness-on-Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick are all easily accessible by car or bus, or you can enjoy a gentle stroll along the River Kent to the Mill Yard, whilst the more energetic can pack a picnic and head for the Kentmere Horseshoe circular walk. The village has an excellent range of amenities including a variety of shops, two pubs, craft shops and a railway station. Nearby, Windermere and Ambleside offer a number of attractions such as boat trips on Lake Windemere and a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park.
