Towards the coast, you can enjoy the marina at Whitehaven which is bustling with shops, bars, eateries, museums and has a train station and golf club, or you can explore Saint Bees Head Heritage Coast which is a clifftop nature reserve and a great spot for birdwatching and walking trails. Alternatively, head into the Lake District where you can challenge yourself to climb Scafell Pike (England's highest peak) or spend a day in one of the lovely countryside villages, such as Nether Wasdale or Ennerdale Bridge which both offer rivers walks, pubs serving food and scenic views.
