Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel

Nice hotel, good location, pleasant staff

Significant investment required. Would not return until this takes place

We booked a standard double. Clean bedding & towels were organised upon arrival The water to shower “pressure” was slow we only stayed for 1 night very slow. The bathroom was clean, well used the hotel was the same in parts the wardrobe bathroom in a room felt a little unloved. The car park is spacious well late we arrived back from a wedding good lighting no issues. We arrived around 13:00 reception staff on arrival reception seemed pleasant enough offering breakfast £9 each we declined & picked up our own. Overall we spent little time in the hotel we came back 1115/1130pm after an all day wedding bar was closed no sign of anyone on front desk. We had room 323 easy to access up a small flight of stairs. Our room must have been an inter connecting a small lock between you and next door when I tried turning the handle I was horrified it turned a small household lock between you and the next room “maybe this should be upgraded” from a safety aspect. One thing we really valued was an earlier than planned check in, this helped no end as we were attending a wedding. We checked out early the next morning again 0845am no one on reception I recall leaving the key card in a box. Easy access to and fro the hotel Clean but old room could do with a mini make over

I can’t give a good review of this hotel. Our experience didn’t reflect the reviews or images on the website. The common areas of the hotel were very tired looking and our room had loose fittings and looked very unloved. The staff that we saw were kind and helpful.
