Close to your Derbyshire holiday home is the little village of Litton with an excellent pub serving food and a village store, while a little further afield is Tideswell, home to the "Cathedral of the Peak" and some wonderful little shops including a butcher, baker and pharmacy, cafe and a great restaurant. Other gems to discover from this cottage near Cressbrook are Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the two market towns of Buxton and Bakewell, with a good selection of shops and excellent restaurants. A footpath upstream of Cressbrook Mill leads to Water-cum-Jolly, a river gorge with limestone cliffs ideal for walking and rock climbing. Cressbrook is on the Monsal Cycle Trail and there is also a good pub in the nearby village of Litton, which serves food. Tideswell, Bakewell and the Spa town of Buxton are all within easy reach.
