There has been a settlement here since Viking times and the town retains much of its Roman history where history buff can visit the Porch Museum, as it is home to many local artefacts and is a treasure trove of information about the history of the town. Also a 'must visit' is the university city of Cambridge with its guided walks, numerous museums, including the famous Fitzwilliam, punting on the River Cam, open top bus tours and great shops and restaurants. To fit it all in, you will need to make several visits, and Cambridge's network of park-and-ride systems makes this very easy to do. Alternatively, you can pop into Huntingdon and take the train, which also runs to Ely with its magnificent cathedral, or even be in the heart of London in around an hour.
