The Metropole was originally a grand Victorian hotel which has become iconic on the skyline of Whitby. On the ground floor, you still have the ballroom which now hosts events throughout the year, together with a bar, which is popular with locals and holidaymakers alike and is a great spot to watch sporting events. There is also a Chinese restaurant on the ground floor at the front of the building with sea views, as you are perched on the cliff top, just a short stroll away from the whalebone archway and the Captain Cook monument which overlooks over the harbour. You are in the perfect position to explore the town's many attractions on foot, the Metropole benefits from being lift-served, or you can use the fabulous original sweeping staircase if you prefer, where you get a sense of this building's history.
