Nice central hotel. Car parking charge £15 per night. We had booked 2 nights for the following weekend, but cancelled due to the parking costs.

Had a great stay for a few nights. Excellent location in relation to any tours going on (don't have to walk far). The staff was very nice. Word to the wise about onsite parking - do not feed the meter in the lot. Just go to reception, you will pay there. That would be the only piece of advice I would give others and the hotel, is to make that more clear.

Overall a good option. Comfortable, clean room with updated bathroom facilities. Convenient and walkable to restaurants and shops. Parking on site is shared by general public who are able to pay to park. Initially found it difficult to find a spot within the lot but had no problem once a spot was available.

The hotel and staff were excellent! Great location with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. The parking situation is not great, very small lot and hard to get to. The beds were comfortable.

We stayed there at a particularly hot period. As the building has no air conditioning, the windows had to stay open. Our room was opposite the main street and the noise from outside goes into the early hours of the morning. Earplugs were required. No fridge or safe was provided in the room. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The car park was large enough for us to always get a paid parking spot.

Beds were comfortable. Bar was great. The hotel itself was tired and in need of decorating inside and out. Carpets looked dour. Cobwebs hung from the bedroom ceiling. One of the 2 lifts was out of action for a day and a half. Rooms at the front were noisy with revellers outside until the early hours noting it was the weekend. Windows could be better glazed. To finish on a positive note, the staff were friendly and helpful, working hard.

The towels were not replaced from previous guest. They brought us new ones and said previous guest did not stay. When we came back later we realized the garbage cans were full of trash and the room needed to vacuumed. Very disappointed and when brought it up to the front desk in the morning was instructed to contact expedia for a refund.

First, I get that August in Scotland is expensive. Everywhere. But a down at the heel Travelodge is a more attractive and charming lodging than this travesty of a hotel. Terribly stained rugs throughout the property. Lifeless, corporate decor. Decent but overburdened staff. Room had a comfortable bed and good bedding but all else was concrete block walls covered by decaying paper, a few wall stains, exposed piping, dirty windows. Pathetic value for nearly 200 quid. The French corporate owners should be ashamed of themselves pawning off this aging relic on tourists at extortionate rates.

Basic room. Bathroom was a bit dated. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Extractor fan didn’t work. Check in was ok. Comfy bed. Noisy outside on Saturday night, windows did not block the noise.

Convenient hotel, just a short walk from the train station. Next to the river. Our room actually had a nice view of the river. Breakfast was good!

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the interior was in good shape. The exterior looked quite shabby and maybe needs some work. The room was comfortable but very noisy indeed (a Sunday night) as it overlooked a street with late bars and music venues. The internet coverage in the room was patchy. Water pressure in the shower (3rd floor) was very weak. Quite likely there are other rooms without these issues. Parking was 15 pounds a night (not included in the expedia booking and if it was advertised I didn't see the notice). Mercure is generally good and I'll stay with them again but probably not in the Inverness Mercure.

Uncomfortable bed - hard mattress and pillows. Sofa in the room has seen better days. Also very dark, could do with more than a few lamps to brighten it. Poorly soundproofed resulting in noise pollution from outside being very audible in the room. The room itself was nothing like the image used on Hotels.com to sell the room - Privilege Room?? Underprivilege room gives a better description. Check in staff polite and attentive, check out staff more interested in their conversation with colleagues. Unlikely to book this property again.

Started out rough the room they gave me initially was still in use and I went down to the told them what happened and with in five minutes they had a new room for that was upgraded free of charge. The professionalism of the staff and quickness to fix the mix up made it a very minor bump in the road.

Don’t check in here unless you’re ready to deal with arrogance and zero accountability. Our first room had no heating – radiators didn’t work. Things break, fair enough, but the way we were treated by Cathlynn at reception was unacceptable. At 7:30 PM we reported it. By 9:30 PM, still nothing had been done. We were handed a shabby blanket and a small heater. At 11 PM we were downgraded to a smaller, warmer room. Next morning we were promised a 30% refund and an upgrade for our last night. What we got was the same category we originally booked – not an upgrade. Worse, the room hadn’t been cleaned: used coffee cups, wet towels, unmade bed – and our luggage was already moved in. Again, met with “not my fault” attitudes. I repeatedly asked to speak to the manager – apparently never there, even though we saw him during breakfast. Hotels.com was no help either. Claimed they couldn’t reach the hotel – I called myself and got through instantly. Staff kept apologizing but never followed up as promised. This hotel needs someone responsible at the wheel. Until then, stay elsewhere.

The hotel is in a convenient and walkable position for all the shop, bars, restaurants and the river. The welcome on arrival from Jo was warm, friendly and helpful. She was full of local knowledge and recommendations and was always chatty during our 3 night stay. There is easy parking at the rear of the hotel. All the staff were friendly and happy to assist if required.

Other than the receptionist and one friendly memebrr of staff behind the bar, the service and friendleness of staff was poor. No staff at breakfast, no hot water for tea. One member of staff in the bar was unreal - openly moaning about us because we sat at a table that wasnt marked as reserved but apparently was so she decided to insult us in fron of other guests - delightful! For the cost, below average decor & comfort, very basic and unwelcoming. Good location but its almost as if they dont need to try as there are so many tourists constantly booking. I will never stay there again.

For the cost, below average decor & comfort, very basic and unwelcoming. Good location but its almost as if they dont need to try as there are so many tourists constantly booking. I will never stay there again.

Room was not ready. Told it would be shortly. That they would let us know. We were directed to their bar to wait. Which was old and boring. There was no one there to take a drink order. After over an hour we went back ourselves. The room itself was fine. But the lobby area was old and drabby

Check-in was extremely slow and not very friendly. Location is excellent - walking from the rail station. The room is good if you’re facing the river as there’s virtually no noise but it has no air con, you need to request a fan, hence it was a bit hot during the night ( it’s summer). Breakfast caters for gluten and lactose intolerant but overall could be better.

This hotel is right near the train station and taxi stands. Also near McGregor’s for traditional music and great F&C. Also get a proper scone and proper tea and cafe across the street.

Great location for exploring Inverness on foot. Rooms were quiet and clean with an awesome shower! Lovely staff. Parking easy but need to pay for it. Would recommend.

Had a great stay for a few nights. Excellent location in relation to any tours going on (don't have to walk far). The staff was very nice. Word to the wise about onsite parking - do not feed the meter in the lot. Just go to reception, you will pay there. That would be the only piece of advice I would give others and the hotel, is to make that more clear.

All of the staff were extremely friendly. I am coeliac and I really appreciate the gluten free station for breakfast. There was something to suit everyone for breakfast from fresh fruit to traditional full Scottish/ continental. We also had our evening meal in the hotel and the waiting staff obviously took my dietary requirement seriously and checked with the chef if my choice of meal was safe for me to eat. This is our second stay at the hotel and will return again. The bed was very comfortable. We were on the third floor so there was no noise from the street. Didn’t book a river view as only there for one night. The room was clean with a modern shower/ toilet but would benefit from a bit of an upgrade as the carpet was a bit tired looking. This did not detract from our stay and we will certainly return.

Hotel was a good stay Everyone was very accommodating to our needs. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Plenty of hot & cold choices. Just be aware that one side of the hotel is on the main pub strip - there was noise.

Great location, hotel looking run down and room noisy due to people going through fire doors. Bed was comfortable and great powerful shower. Enjoyed evening meal and breakfast in hotel.

Other than the receptionist and one friendly memebrr of staff behind the bar, the service and friendleness of staff was poor. No staff at breakfast, no hot water for tea. One member of staff in the bar was unreal - openly moaning about us because we sat at a table that wasnt marked as reserved but apparently was so she decided to insult us in fron of other guests - delightful! Everything was great . Breakfast was good. But the food and service at the dinner restaurant was terrible. Pizza was terrible and service poor. Also front desk was not manned so we had to search for someone to check us in

Location is the best part of the hotel. Walking distance to all city sites. On first impressions the exterior is old and run down and on entry the tired, stained and musty smell of carpet and furniture hits you. We had a standard room with no aircon and slightly dirty and smelly but thankfully windows that let fresh air in and we had the magnificent view of the river. Although bathroom was tight and not long renovated the shower was good. The cleaners were inconsistent and instead of replacing towels off the floor after showering replaced them on the rails and failed to make bed. The staff were ok. For the amount charged this hotel really needs some care and a total renovation.

Pros of Mercure Inverness: Fabulous location. Large room. Comfortable bed. Near a grocery co-op. Coffee house, cafes, etc. The breakfast was worth the additional cost. Staff, friendly and nice. Cons. VERY dimly lit room. Bathroom, likewise, low light. I suspect they're saving money by using what look like low-watt yellow bulbs. One of the tracks for the drapes was badly broken, it was near impossible to pull closed. Evidently they're also saving money by making the room ventilation system as weak as possible. THE ROOM WAS INCREDIBLY "stuffy", warm - needed air. I had the "cooling" fan on the highest it would go, with a low temp chosen but it had zero effect. The coffee-maker is on a permanent shelf in the closet. It could not be pulled forward to make coffee, so you have to reach IN to do it. But the closet was so dark it wasn't possible to see what I was doing. They need to either move the location of the coffee-maker or install a light in the closet. Last: admittedly, the hotel cannot control this: but it is located in a neighborhood of several pubs. I was on the 1st floor. The noise from partying in the street continued until about 3 AM each night I was there. I played white noise on headphones to get to sleep. As they say - it's all in the details. I would not stay here again.
