We checked in very late, after they closed, but they accommodated us very well. Build is old but well kept, so expect thing that come with an old building: squeaky floors, etc. Not enough bedding and the light that they have shining on the front of the hotel was shining right in our window. We innovated and overall it was a very nice stay.

Our so called Deluxe room that we had paid extra for looked nothing like the Deluxe rooms on the website. The boiler broke so there was no heating for 3 days which in December in Scotland is a pretty basic necessity. They charged us for the NYE Gala dinner despite the website claiming it was included in the price of the room. There were other little annoyances like the breakfast coffee machine not working. They did finally move us to an actual Deluxe room after a few days complaining to several members of staff and by way of compensation for no heating they waived the Gala dinner charge, which we shouldn’t have been charged for in the first place, so no real compression. It was all a bit of a shambles and very poorly managed.

Friendly welcome and used nearby hotel parking. Managed to get an off duty waiter to carry my bags as no lift. One of the worst ever views from bedroom window of fire escape and the bathroom window faced a concrete wall a couple of feet away, so check with hotel about the situation of room before booking. Unable to get breakfast tea despite asking the waitress - this further spoilt my stay

Relaxing area for the hotel, close to golf course and woodland walks. Nice area in front of the hotel to have drinks outside. With the hotel being an old building noise issues between the rooms.

Nice location. Rooms and hotel felt a little tired but service and food were excellent. Parking was a challenge and I had to park on the street next to hotel on second night.

Great location if you’re using the Speyside railway or playing golf at Boat of Garten (BoG). Room was suite like and excellent for two people to easily relax. Two radiators weren’t working and there was no hot water on our last day which was annoying. A 50 minute delay on our first night’s dinner meant we left and eat at Aviemore (not sure why the staff took a booking if they couldn’t cope with the numbers) and on day two we couldn’t get any food after 20:45 and the bar didn’t have any bar snacks (crisps or peanuts). That said it worked for our golf trip to BoG, Grantown on Spey, Abernethy Bridge and Carrbridge golf courses.

Stayed for 5days with my daughter. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely sitting area by reception desk. Outside seating and restaurant in bar area. Separate breakfast area are all downstairs. Parking is tight and seems to quite often be used by people getting on the train. Which is right next to the hotel. Our room was nice, we had a view of a wall in our en-suite and of outside stairs in our room. Needs some maintenance work carried out. There was staining in corner of ceiling from a previous leak. App advertised on room didn’t work as indicated. No room service was available and you could make booking for dinner etc from it. Reception wasn’t manned constantly, staff were coming from bar or breakfast area if no one on reception. The staff are amazing, very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. My daughter is Coeliac and no where in Aviemore had ready made gluten free sandwiches. I tried Tesco, M&S, Costa, Aldi. Ended up buying GF rolls from Tesco and the kitchen staff in the morning kindly filled with ham and cheese. Otherwise we would have been stuck, as she was out all day each day on a field trip. Not a huge choice at breakfast from the buffet. Hot food made to order and not generous helpings. Dinner on the other hand was the opposite, big servings and delicious food. The staff really make this hotel, would return for that and hopefully a better room next time .

Our room was very clean, loads of room including large seating area. Bed extremely comfortable & cosy. All staff were friendly and attentive. Dinner was excellent on both evenings. The hotel is pet friendly but dogs were always under careful control & supervision of their owners. The hotel clearly welcomes families and had many non resident diners which indicated a good local reputation too. Happy to recommend to friends & family.

We booked a deluxe room which was very small and dated with a tiny bathroom you couldn’t turn round in. The bathroom had no ventilation. Twice we returned to our room to find the cleaners hadn’t latched the door so it was unlocked all day and once we returned to find neither key worked. When we left the bathroom towels on the floor to be refreshed they were hung up dirty and I came back to the room to find the cleaner using these to dry the mugs in the room. The ‘manager’ offered to upgrade us but when I mentioned this to the person on reception next day they knew nothing about it. There seemed to be a lack of anyone in charge although the younger staff worked hard - especially the young lad at breakfast who often seemed to be on his own which meant things were sometimes not replenished even though he tried his best. Not a great stay.

Arrived at hotel to be greated and looked down at by manager,very rude and abrupt,definitely wasnt a good first inpression,she finished off her personal call on her mobile before attending to paying guests who were standing waiting, booked a room for 3 people and were given a room for 2 people,not set up for 3 and was told they didnt have an extra bed to give,even though i booked for 3,therfor it should have been sorted for our arrival,manager just seemed to shrug that off, had a meal in the restaurant which again is overly priced for what you recieve and the service was shocking,left to wait ages before ofer taken,bit then rushed out once meal had been eaten,again service rude,things added onto my meal bill that i hadnt even ordered,again manager seemed to not have time to deal with this so told myself to sort it out,as i did this,our drinks were removed and cleared from our table,which were still half full. The room itself could do with alot of inprovements,mould on walls,carpets hadnt been hoovered from previous guests,bathroom had dust and grime on bath, no housekeeping service in our 2 night stay. Breakfast wws freshly cooked however produce was cheap & overcooked, very limited variety for continental stuff,not a big selection,yoghurts sitting out without placed in ice to keep fresh, limited selection of fresh fruit on display and the apples and bananas that were,had seen better days. I defo would not return here again and didntvmake an enjoyable stay.

This hotel is in a great location for sight seeing in the surrounding area. The hotel itself is in need of refurbishment and general painting badly needed in areas. The alcohol is over priced, I could go in to a nice restaurant in Inverness and not be charged so much !! The food was decent, albeit I would say pricey for what you get. Staff encountered were pleasant.

Situated in a quiet area with many attractions a short drive away. The evening food was great. The hotel itself was a bit shabby, mould in the bathrooms/dirty carpets/musty smell. The camp beds for the kids were the worst we've ever come across - wish we'd bought our own which are much more solid and comfortable.

Other than the temperature in the room, everything else was phenomenal. The staff, the breakfast, the included parking, the drive to and from: all wonderful!!! The one downside was simply a matter of when we visited. We were here in July and it wasn’t even a particularly warm night (maybe 58F/14C). We were on the 3rd floor and had to open both windows to try and cool down the room but the thick wool curtain didn’t allow much air flow so we had to keep the curtain open all night too.

We booked for our outward and return trip.First room was dreadful. A small double bed wedged against the wall and under the eaves so had to climb in and unable to sit up. Second stay in a deluxe double. Only 1 bedside light. No coat hangers in the wardrobe Tiny shower which trickled water. Cracked handbasin..WOULD NOT RECOMMEND and certainly was not value for money at £179.00 for the "delux" room. Service in the dining room was slow. We waited an hour for our starters to arrive.

Friendly welcome and used nearby hotel parking. Managed to get an off duty waiter to carry my bags as no lift. One of the worst ever views from bedroom window of fire escape and the bathroom window faced a concrete wall a couple of feet away, so check with hotel about the situation of room before booking. Our check in at this hotel was good enough, if very slow. The guy on reception showed us to our room. We paid about £130 for bed and breakfast at this hotel, and it definitely wasn’t worth that price. We are regular travellers who managed to secure an awesome room in Glasgow two nights before at less than half that price! Firstly, the room was nice and spacious enough, but the en-suite bathroom was an absolute joke. An overweight person would not have felt comfortable using the toilet and might not even have fitted into the space allocated to the toilet (I’ll add a picture to prove my point) Secondly, one of the taps was fitted the wrong way round and almost fell off when you attempted to use it. This place is a bit of a faulty towers! It’s a nice old building, but obviously not that well-maintained. I am glad we chose to eat at Anderson’s, a few paces up the road, because when we attempted to pay by cash for our drinks at the hotel bar, we were told they didn’t take cash. My drinks were already poured before they made this shambolic revaluation, so they had no other option than to take my cash (and before anyone replies about a lack of banking facilities in the town, there’s a Post Office across the road). I feel places like this are an embarrassment to Scottish tourism. The breakfast was nice, freshly cooked. But 7.45 - 9 am is too early to serve breakfast at the weekend. Again, pretentious and out of touch.

All staff very friendly and welcoming - particularly the ladies at breakfast! Everyone made an effort to interact with our 3 year old which goes a long way. :) very family/ dog friendly. Good food - probably the best cooked breakfast we’ve had in a while, everything was perfectly cooked and great selection. We had a meal in the restaurant too that was tasty! We stayed in a garden room, spacious and clean. Lovely location with great views of the surrounding hills. Would recommend and would stay again.

Our room was very clean, loads of room including large seating area. Bed extremely comfortable & cosy. All staff were friendly and attentive. Dinner was excellent on both evenings. The hotel is pet friendly but dogs were always under careful control & supervision of their owners. The hotel clearly welcomes families and had many non resident diners which indicated a good local reputation too. Happy to recommend to friends & family.

We booked a deluxe room which was very small and dated with a tiny bathroom you couldn’t turn round in. The bathroom had no ventilation. Twice we returned to our room to find the cleaners hadn’t latched the door so it was unlocked all day and once we returned to find neither key worked. When we left the bathroom towels on the floor to be refreshed they were hung up dirty and I came back to the room to find the cleaner using these to dry the mugs in the room. The ‘manager’ offered to upgrade us but when I mentioned this to the person on reception next day they knew nothing about it. Arrived at hotel to be greated and looked down at by manager,very rude and abrupt,definitely wasnt a good first inpression,she finished off her personal call on her mobile before attending to paying guests who were standing waiting, booked a room for 3 people and were given a room for 2 people,not set up for 3 and was told they didnt have an extra bed to give,even though i booked for 3,therfor it should have been sorted for our arrival,manager just seemed to shrug that off, had a meal in the restaurant which again is overly priced for what you recieve and the service was shocking,left to wait ages before ofer taken,bit then rushed out once meal had been eaten,again service rude,things added onto my meal bill that i hadnt even ordered,again manager seemed to not have time to deal with this so told myself to sort it out,as i did this,our drinks were removed and cleared from our table,which were still half full. The room itself could do with alot of inprovements,mould on walls,carpets hadnt been hoovered from previous guests,bathroom had dust and grime on bath, no housekeeping service in our 2 night stay. Breakfast wws freshly cooked however produce was cheap & overcooked, very limited variety for continental stuff,not a big selection,yoghurts sitting out without placed in ice to keep fresh, limited selection of fresh fruit on display and the apples and bananas that were,had seen better days. I defo would not return here again and didntvmake an enjoyable stay.

Upon arrival we stood at reception for quite a while without acknowledgement as 2 staff members were talking to each other. The staff serving meals were efficient but abrupt, and then we waited for breakfast as our order had been misplaced. On checkout we could not get our bill as the computer wasn’t working,we had a dispute on charges and were told the invoice would be emailed, but so far not. No staff smiled at all and seemed fed up.

Excellent breakfast. Staff was very friendly. We arrived late in the evening and upon check in we were given someone else's room. We had to wait for someone to come to make the correction and give us another room. Also, the parking was not easily accessible. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel.

Our suite was lovely if a bit faded. The bed was really comfortable. The main problem was with the staff, there was a lot of very young and very new staff so not a lot of information about the area, or good organisation. The breakfast was chaotic with cooked food being brought before you were finished eating your cornflakes etc, you also had to make your own tea, toast this was not convenient, nor relaxing as a man was tearing around with cooked food with his head down bulldozing through people to take plates to tables. Although the hotel was pretty I wouldn’t stay here again

Stayed for 5days with my daughter. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely sitting area by reception desk. Outside seating and restaurant in bar area. Separate breakfast area are all downstairs. Parking is tight and seems to quite often be used by people getting on the train. Which is right next to the hotel. Our room was nice, we had a view of a wall in our en-suite and of outside stairs in our room. Needs some maintenance work carried out. There was staining in corner of ceiling from a previous leak. App advertised on room didn’t work as indicated. No room service was available and you could make booking for dinner etc from it. Reception wasn’t manned constantly, staff were coming from bar or breakfast area if no one on reception. The staff are amazing, very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. My daughter is Coeliac and no where in Aviemore had ready made gluten free sandwiches. I tried Tesco, M&S, Costa, Aldi. Ended up buying GF rolls from Tesco and the kitchen staff in the morning kindly filled with ham and cheese. Otherwise we would have been stuck, as she was out all day each day on a field trip. Not a huge choice at breakfast from the buffet. Hot food made to order and not generous helpings. Dinner on the other hand was the opposite, big servings and delicious food. The staff really make this hotel, would return for that and hopefully a better room next time .

The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well accommodated. They even carried out (incredibly heavy!!) suitcases upstairs for us. The food was incredible and there was so much variety. The only issue was the shower in our room which didn’t have temperature control and the screen was a bit broken. This wasn’t an issue for us as we were only there one night and the standalone bath was beautiful!! The rooms need a little updating but the space is incredible and the rooms were always clean.

Lovely weekend stay in The Boat Hotel. We were lucky enough to have a room on the corner in the main building, overlooking the train station. The room was comfortable and warm, with the bedding being good quality. Nice meal in the main restaurant and a nice selection of cereals, jams and bread for breakfast. The hot breakfast cooked to order was also good.

Pretty good with a few wee quirks. Shower in our bathroom room 104 took up 50% of space and position of screen very easy to knock against. Breakfast arrangement could be improved as position of cups glasses etc meant a lot of waking back and forwards. Restaurant Food good though not excellent and could be a bit more varied. My panna cotta desert was amazing. Fish dishes reported as a bit bland. Wine very expensive at £28 for lowest priced bottle. All in all a lovely stay but 2 nights enough.

Great location if you’re using the Speyside railway or playing golf at Boat of Garten (BoG). Room was suite like and excellent for two people to easily relax. Two radiators weren’t working and there was no hot water on our last day which was annoying. A 50 minute delay on our first night’s dinner meant we left and eat at Aviemore (not sure why the staff took a booking if they couldn’t cope with the numbers) and on day two we couldn’t get any food after 20:45 and the bar didn’t have any bar snacks (crisps or peanuts). That said it worked for our golf trip to BoG, Grantown on Spey, Abernethy Bridge and Carrbridge golf courses.
Great location if you’re using the Speyside railway or playing golf at Boat of Garten (BoG). Room was suite like and excellent for two people to easily relax. Two radiators weren’t working and there was no hot water on our last day which was annoying. All staff very friendly and welcoming - particularly the ladies at breakfast! Everyone made an effort to interact with our 3 year old which goes a long way. :) very family/ dog friendly. Good food - probably the best cooked breakfast we’ve had in a while, everything was perfectly cooked and great selection. We had a meal in the restaurant too that was tasty! We stayed in a garden room, spacious and clean. Lovely location with great views of the surrounding hills. Would recommend and would stay again.

Very dated accommodation. Was informed at check-in to come down for dinner when ready as quite relaxed. Went down at 18.45 to be told very busy and had to book a table for 20.00. Food was good but a bit pricey with 10% added for service.

Lovely dog friendly room with easy access to the garden equipped with a dog poo bin. Room and en suite were spotless, bed was very comfortable. Disappointed that the only tea was earl grey, no herbal or decaff tea or coffee although there was a lovely coffee machine in the room. We had no hot water in the evening the explanation given was that it’s an old building and it has a long way to travel to reach our room! Food was plentiful and tasty but dinner dining experience was very disjointed and slow. The staff were friendly and helpful but didn’t seem to have a system. Had to ask twice for water and the dessert menu and received drinks we didn’t order. Breakfast service was more organised and they have an excellent menu and buffet selection.

Comfortable room with walk-in shower in ensuite. Freshly-cooked breakfast with good quality ingredients and good coffee. Pleasant and attentive lady served breakfast.
