A unique venue in a quiet rural environment , quaint rooms, quality dining. Well worth a visit and definitely a fantastic venue for weddings and relaxing stays. We stayed for one night that clashed with a taster event for couples with weddings booked or planned. Early evening we sat outside and struggled to get a drink. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast, although running out of veg & the need for supplementary charges on menu even for coffee is strange.

The building is beautiful. I stayed in the Little Budworth room, the bed was very comfy and the room had old world charm with a beautiful view of the chapel. I needed a phone charger and the lady on reception brought one up for me and would not take a tip, she was lovely. I didn't see any facilities for room service, but that's not saying they didn't.

This is a stunning location but honestly there were little things that really need attending to . We stayed on a sunday, skeleton staff many seemed to be inexperienced, couldn't have a cafe latte at breakfast "we dont do these up here' meaning the restaurant! No cocktail list in the bar in fact no drinks list . Sorry just a little shabby

It’s good to remember this is a castle for several reasons. The first being the heating system is antiquated. Second, wi-fi has dead spots and does not necessarily work in your room. Third, the castle caters to groups/weddings and some get quite loud. They are celebrating. With these things in mind it was a nice stay.

Fantastic venue, room was stunning, staff were amazing. The only downside was the Wine Cellar bar was closed and we had been told to go to by friends. The 1851 Restaurant was superb, the food was top class. All around, would recommend highly a visit.

First thing..this is an AMAZING place, as close to a 'real' castle that you can get to stay in. The location is equally amazing, perched on top of a hill with spectacualr views across the Cheshire plain and of Beeston Castle on the neighboring hill. BUT..... it should also be said that this is very much a Wedding Venue (and a great venue for a wedding at that). But if you come here and aren't involved in a wedding then you will feel like you are somehow crashing an event, rather than having a romantic getaway. That said, even with the music in the Great Hall at full volume, our room was so far away and up so many steps and behind so many thick walls, we honestly couldn't hear a thing. This is NOT a place for people with mobility issues (although there were guests in wheelchairs, so I guess there are accessible rooms). Our room was in the Keep and was a VERY strenuous walk away up endless flights of steps. We ate in the brasserie, and this was good, if not spectacular. Good bistro style food. We also drank in the Wine Cellar bar. A very atmospheric cellar room with a massive vaulted ceiling. But this is not cheap! £25 for a beer and a G&T! Breakfast was good, but again not fabulous. This possibly illustrated the small issues I had with this hotel. Our room was over £200. For that, I would expect a decent breakfast. But, while you could get basic things, most others attracted a surcharge. Staff were mostly fine, but Reception were frosty - again not what I expect

Unfortunately the restaurant and brassiere were closed when we went but your not told till after we made the booking, room wise the mattress has seen its days and needs replacing and the shower is very poor , but otherwise a very nice hotel and would stay again

This property was one of a kind!!! Absolutely amazing!! Staying overnight in a castle, felt like royalty :) Ate at the brasserie, excellent food and service. Only down side, couldn’t turn heat on in our room, a bit cold Walking through corridors in a castle was exciting!!

Staff were very helpful. Cleaners are doing a brilliant job. Breakfast was just warm and porridge not cook through. Gritting also served with jam and strawberries instead of raspberries and strawberries.

An opportunity to stay in a castle in the Cheshire countryside. The backdrop of the castle is really nice. This hotel appears to survive on the number of weddings it hosts. The gents toilet on the evening of the wedding was filthy and clearly not monitored and managed through the evening very often. The room we stayed was quiet and well away from the wedding - it was ok but dated. For some reason two Henry vacuums were stored in the walkways to the room rather than in a cleaners cupboard. The dinner room lacked atmosphere- but the food was really tasty. The staff seemed to disappear quite a bit - it took ages to get served drinks. The hotel staff were ok but didn’t really wow or engage that much to reflect the grandeur of the location.

Room 306, really loud generator or boiler noise, till late at night…past 11pm. Towel rail was not working and bathroom was cold, shower curtain grubby, and no toilet brush. Window was open and bin lid broke. Room 308, hole in floor between single beds, shower needs maintenance, 2 hand towels and 1 large towel. Bar - ordered Malbec 250ml.£11.50 which is fine, but had no cork screw so chose a screw top castillo Diablo Malbec but afterwards noticed charged 13.30 for a Rioja. Really just poor, struggled to find a pen, wine glass was unclean! Just very sad for such a stunning building. Breakfast was included and that was really good, apart from forgot 1 breakfast, but management need to train staff and check rooms and lots of cobwebs on speakers and corners of the room, just needs some attention to detail.

A stunning property in stunning surroundings. Staff very friendly & happy to help. We had 1 meal at the hotel & unfortunately it was not very nice but staff knocked it off our bill. Bathroom radiator leaked oil over bathroom floor, told staff twice about this. A lovely bedroom but bathroom not overly clean.

It is a fantastic place to stay, let down by a sub standard double, where fixtures to the tap in the bathroom was missing, Bit grubby round the edges and the ironing board stuck on the side of the wardorobe, made it look cheap. We were not offered to book a table for a meal or recommended to go elsewhere. Just think it could be better managed on arrival. Felt we were guests in the background of a wedding taking place.

We had anticipated a restorative stay at the castle; however, the accommodations proved significantly substandard. The small room was exceptionally unclean, especially the carpeting, necessitating serious consideration of immediate departure. The cost was disproportionate to the quality, resulting in considerable disappointment. While we registered our concerns, the response was inadequate. The experience failed to provide the necessary respite, and the room required substantial refurbishment and replacement of the outdated furnishings.

We went to this place for a wedding. It was not cheap to stay here for 2 nights and we had high hopes due to the cost of the room. On arrival we were warmly greet and given our room key. Navigating the hotel wasn’t easy and on finding our room the room was small with only a double bed in it. We noticed quickly once in the room there was a loose floor board outside the room and when anyone walked past our room the noise of the loose floor board echoed in our room which made relaxing and sleeping very difficult. The bed when trying to sleep was far too soft causing my other half to sleep on the floor as it was more comfortable. The room was quite basic and the decoration looked dated and not in a good way. The rooms looked run down and you could see paint marks around the room. The TV in the room was on the side wall which meant it was awkward to watch in bed and there was nowhere else you could watch it from. The bathroom was badly thought out, the shower was very strong which was great but lead to water covering all the bathroom floor with no way to stop it. The rooms were very hot and stuffy with only a small window to open. They did provide a fan but there was only limited surfaces to place this on for both guests to benefit from this. The food at the hotel was to a good standard but we was informed we was best booking in advance as may not be able to get a table otherwise. The drinks were quite expensive and a service charge was automatically applied on every drink.

We noticed quickly once in the room there was a loose floor board outside the room and when anyone walked past our room the noise of the loose floor board echoed in our room which made relaxing and sleeping very difficult. The bed when trying to sleep was far too soft causing my other half to sleep on the floor as it was more comfortable. The room was quite basic and the decoration looked dated and not in a good way. The rooms looked run down and you could see paint marks around the room. The TV in the room was on the side wall which meant it was awkward to watch in bed and there was nowhere else you could watch it from. The bathroom was badly thought out, the shower was very strong which was great but lead to water covering all the bathroom floor with no way to stop it. The rooms were very hot and stuffy with only a small window to open. They did provide a fan but there was only limited surfaces to place this on for both guests to benefit from this. The food at the hotel was to a good standard but we was informed we was best booking in advance as may not be able to get a table otherwise. The drinks were quite expensive and a service charge was automatically applied on every drink.

It’s good to remember this is a castle for several reasons. The first being the heating system is antiquated. Second, wi-fi has dead spots and does not necessarily work in your room. Third, the castle caters to groups/weddings and some get quite loud. They are celebrating. With these things in mind it was a nice stay.

Unfortunately the restaurant and brassiere were closed when we went but your not told till after we made the booking, room wise the mattress has seen its days and needs replacing and the shower is very poor , but otherwise a very nice hotel and would stay again

This property was one of a kind!!! Absolutely amazing!! Staying overnight in a castle, felt like royalty :) Ate at the brasserie, excellent food and service. Only down side, couldn’t turn heat on in our room, a bit cold Walking through corridors in a castle was exciting!!

Castle is stunning, food was amazing,the service in the 1857 restaurant was very slow, room was very dated, ( granted you are staying in a old castle ) but come on , get the basics in order, the room felt like I was in a very cheap b and b in Blackpool, for the price of £205 a night, I would expect the room not to look so tired.

Avoid Malpas room, it is above something that generates alot of noise and it vibrates the floor and so the bed vibrates also. The noise doesn't stop till late at night and starts at 6.00.a.m.You can see the curtain hooks on the 4 poster rail moving because of the vibration. I asked for ear plugs and was given 2 small balls of cotton wool that did nothing. Take toiletries because all that is in the suite is 2 bottles fixed to the shower wall so if you are bathing, bad news!

An opportunity to stay in a castle in the Cheshire countryside. The backdrop of the castle is really nice. This hotel appears to survive on the number of weddings it hosts. The gents toilet on the evening of the wedding was filthy and clearly not monitored and managed through the evening very often. The room we stayed was quiet and well away from the wedding - it was ok but dated. For some reason two Henry vacuums were stored in the walkways to the room rather than in a cleaners cupboard. The dinner room lacked atmosphere- but the food was really tasty. The staff seemed to disappear quite a bit - it took ages to get served drinks. The hotel staff were ok but didn’t really wow or engage that much to reflect the grandeur of the location.

This is a stunning location but honestly there were little things that really need attending to . We stayed on a sunday, skeleton staff many seemed to be inexperienced, couldn't have a cafe latte at breakfast "we dont do these up here' meaning the restaurant! No cocktail list in the bar in fact no drinks list . Sorry just a little shabby

First thing..this is an AMAZING place, as close to a 'real' castle that you can get to stay in. The location is equally amazing, perched on top of a hill with spectacualr views across the Cheshire plain and of Beeston Castle on the neighboring hill. BUT..... it should also be said that this is very much a Wedding Venue (and a great venue for a wedding at that). But if you come here and aren't involved in a wedding then you will feel like you are somehow crashing an event, rather than having a romantic getaway. That said, even with the music in the Great Hall at full volume, our room was so far away and up so many steps and behind so many thick walls, we honestly couldn't hear a thing. This is NOT a place for people with mobility issues (although there were guests in wheelchairs, so I guess there are accessible rooms). Our room was in the Keep and was a VERY strenuous walk away up endless flights of steps. We ate in the brasserie, and this was good, if not spectacular. Good bistro style food. We also drank in the Wine Cellar bar. A very atmospheric cellar room with a massive vaulted ceiling. But this is not cheap! £25 for a beer and a G&T! Breakfast was good, but again not fabulous. This possibly illustrated the small issues I had with this hotel. Our room was over £200. For that, I would expect a decent breakfast. But, while you could get basic things, most others attracted a surcharge. Staff were mostly fine, but Reception were frosty - again not what I expect

The building is beautiful. I stayed in the Little Budworth room, the bed was very comfy and the room had old world charm with a beautiful view of the chapel. I needed a phone charger and the lady on reception brought one up for me and would not take a tip, she was lovely. I didn't see any facilities for room service, but that's not saying they didn't.

this property certainly has the WOW factor.....entrance through the portcullis onto the green lawn, and then being shown to a wonderful bedroom. the hotel is very well placed for visiting Chester, the Wirral and port sunlight, which we enjoyed enormously

A unique venue in a quiet rural environment , quaint rooms, quality dining. Well worth a visit and definitely a fantastic venue for weddings and relaxing stays. We stayed for one night that clashed with a taster event for couples with weddings booked or planned. Early evening we sat outside and struggled to get a drink. The restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast, although running out of veg & the need for supplementary charges on menu even for coffee is strange.

Staff were very helpful. Cleaners are doing a brilliant job. Breakfast was just warm and porridge not cook through. Gritting also served with jam and strawberries instead of raspberries and strawberries.

A stunning property in stunning surroundings. Staff very friendly & happy to help. We had 1 meal at the hotel & unfortunately it was not very nice but staff knocked it off our bill. Bathroom radiator leaked oil over bathroom floor, told staff twice about this. A lovely bedroom but bathroom not overly clean.

Fantastic venue, room was stunning, staff were amazing. The only downside was the Wine Cellar bar was closed and we had been told to go to by friends. The 1851 Restaurant was superb, the food was top class. All around, would recommend highly a visit.

Some like the uniformity of a Hotel chain, I prefer to take a risk on something quirky and Peckforton Castle did not disappoint! Perched on the top of hill surrounded by a forest, from the Gatehouse into the courtyard this was stunning and a fabulous place to rest for a night. My bedroom was in a tower and although small it was charming and themed around Alice ( see pic ) The restaurant was pleasant although I chose to eat outside as - well, why wouldn't you? And wandering around the Great Hall and wine cellar ( now a bar ) gave me an appetite for well cooked food and great service. I slept really well ( unusual for me ) and woke to a proper breakfast, freshly cooked and served at table... Old fashioned service but made the stay! I will be back, my wife is not amused that she didn't get to share the memorable experience.

Came for a wedding, and what a stunning venue! Be aware that the carpark is a short walk from the castle itself (for those wearing heels - there is gravel and a hill!), although people/luggage can be dropped off at reception. The building can appear a bit of a maze, but is incredible - had a great time exploring after a very tatsy breakfast (only got slightly lost!). Room was a good size, comfy bed, and surprisingly good water pressure in the shower!
