Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa

Service i baren var meget dårlig. Ventede mere end 30 min på en drink. Restauranten var service dårlig ig langsom, da maden endelig kom var det forkert bestilling og maden var kold . Drikkevarerne kom aldrig, vi besluttede at forlade restauranten og spise ude. Morgenmad var det samme, menu er a la carte, hvilket jeg generelt er stor fan af, men når service ikke er der giver det ikke mening.

Our room (325, King bed with lake view) was clean, spacious and comfortable. Hotel location is excellent, a couple minutes walk to the ferries, good restaurants, shops and even the Victoria Wood theater (fun show!). The staff was courteous and unobtrusive. The breakfast was plentiful - and “unhurried” to get a table and to get the cooked food. We hope to stay again someday.

Lovely hotel close to the lake and very convenient for the shops, theatre and main attractions. Staff at Reception and at breakfast were all really pleasant and helpful. Arriving in a car is a bit of a nightmare: the entrance is in a very tight and busy street, so finding somwhere to wait while paying for the hotel car park and getting directions was difficult. If we could have paid for the parking in advance and driven straight to the car park, that would have been much easier. Breakfast was cooked to order, but really nothing special: one piece of bacon and one (very ordinary) sausage in the Full English breakfast, but a nice spread in the buffet selections. For such an expensive hotel, charging extra for the avocado and other 'special' breakfasts seemed to be taking a liberty.

Hotel showing its age but lake view rooms very nice. Clean and tidy but older part of the hotel could do with full refurbish. Breakfast lovely and evening meal reasonable. Drinks very expensive.
