Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Sylacauga by IHG

Pool has been out of order since at least March. They state they are waiting on a pump to be replaced.

No one notified us of the pool being out of service. I booked this hotel for the pool.

Very tired property. Room were updated and clean. Bedding was great and very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Property didnt feel secure. No one around to check us out at 7am. Entry road needs lots of help. A sign right at the turn to go in would help. You had to guess where to turn in. Probably wouldn’t stay there again.

Very old and stinky. Had to change rooms at 1 am due to smoke alarm going off VERY LOUD and the front desk couldn’t get the maintenance man to respond to come fix it. The pool was out of order and the WiFi did not work. I will NOT be back!

First outside appearance was distracting due to the huge pothole upon entering. At first glance, it smelled very nice and clean. It looked clean in the lobby, but when I got to my first room… It reeked of mildew/mold! Went to the front desk to tell the clerk that my room smelled like mildew and she’s not in her head “yes“. I asked her if she had any spray and she said she would look for some! And then she came back and said she didn’t have any spray. So we assume we could go ahead and do our best to get the smell out of the room and proceeded to get some rest and throughout the night was absolutely unable to sleep due to the overwhelming smell. That seems to get worse! Exhausted all of our options until finally went to the front desk and spoke to the overnight person after getting physically sickwho gladly switched our room. Just to find out that the TV didn’t work in that room nor the phone! There was no cord to the phone at all, and it was overwhelmingly exhausting! For the money that they ask per night, the service was not up to par compared to other Holiday Inn express stays that we’ve had. The breakfast was mediocre at best not heated . The best thing about this hotel in my opinion was the pool and the pool area… It was clean. The pool was beautiful and clean. The room was spacious and that gave reprieve from the horrible stay that we experienced! Manager tried to accommodate and was really nice howeverI’m just not used to getting this kind of service at all.

First off, the hotel staff were professional and very courteous. The hotel itself was clean and the breakfast was great. We however booked this particular hotel because of the indoor pool. We were not told that the pool was not usable until we had already checked in and got settled into our room. It is my understanding that the pool has been inoperable for some time, months even. If this amenity isn’t currently available, it should be noted on there website.

No entry from the back of the motel! Side entry was not working, had to park in back and walk around hotel to front to get in at 12:00 am. Very unsafe!! Cigarette butts all over ground! Just a big mess!! Sorry, but You wanted to know!!

Swimming pool nit working. Ice machine out of order. It is definitely not worth what we paid. Hopefully there will be more modern hotels built up next year when we return.

My only complaint was the smell in the hallway, it was very unpleasant to exit the room. I believe it was due to other guests activities during the days I was there. Hopefully it isn’t like this all the time. Will stay here again on my next trip to Sylacauga.

Hotel was infested with ants and lady bugs. Additionally, the toilet seat was broken on one side.

Absolutely would not recommend. The bathroom was disgusting. Rusty fixtures, moldy shower, shower completely separated from wall and moved around as you were trying to shower. Felt like I was going to fall through the floor. Moldy microwave, rusty fridge, broken light fixtures. Just absolutely the worst holiday inn I have ever stayed in.

This hotel needs some remodeling. The carpet is disgusting and tiles are falling off in the bathroom. The carpet is so dirty that there’s actually a tackiness to it where your shoes stick a little.The workers are lazy. We even had one of the cleaning ladies walk in our room at 7 o’clock in the morning, not even giving us time to open our eyes before she walked in the door. A poorly managed hotel that really needs an upgrade. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures because we were so ready to be out of there.

The first room wasn't cleaned very well. The surfaces were sticky and dusty. The room had a strong stinky order. It smelled like feet. The suite downstairs still had a strong odor but it was clean. I don't think I want to stay here again.

First room we got the hot water did not work then the 2nd room we got was about 85 degrees and took 3 hours to cool off. Its obvious holiday inn bought a dilapidated hotel and just threw their name out front so you think you are getting quality. This room cost is double what it is worth based on the condition of the hotel. Beware. Just because its a big hotel name doesn't mean its a good one like it used-to mean.

The next morning I had a cold shower as there was no hot water. I thought well at least they have great cinnamon rolls. And then the cinnamon roll the only one out at breakfast was hard and not edible. I will say that the bed was comfortable but that was the only positive in my one night here.

Upside: The bed was comfortable and pillows were great. The breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly. Downside: The air conditioner had leaked water all over the carpet and our socks got soaked when we walked near the window. The shower head was a handheld type with a clamp on a bar to make it height adjustable. The clamp didn’t hold and the head kept dropping down during the shower.

We got in very late and they were so helpful. The room is clen and large. The breakfast helper was wonderful. The only thing booking wirh Expedia that went smoothly

The property area seems to be ok. With me staying there three nights it was a little boring and aggravating that I wasn’t able to watch TV at all because of the cable connection or whatever, The voice on the TV was going in and out, I could not see a clear picture or hear clear and understand what was really being said on the TV/picture because of the picture going in and out with a lot of static, and lines going across the TV/picture.

Our room was across the hall from the maids room and laundry. People up early in the morning calling each others names and talking VERY loudly. Paint peeling in the bathroom

Staff have evidently worked to bring the hotel up to par. Staff have always been friendly and efficient. Immediately noticed in room hallway that there was NO musty smell as have noticed on previous stays. Room was clean and stocked, only issue was an electrical one with room phone and was told that a lightning strike had damaged several hotel systems recently and they were still trying to correct those. Will stay here again next trip.

The room was clean but the toilet ran all night and day. The check out is at 12, but the house keeper tried to buss in our room at 9am. They didn't say house keeping or nothing just bussing through the door. Then this repeated at 10. So my husband got up and asked whats going on, she stated she was just trying to get a head start. He asked for towels they said the washer was broke. But they found us 1.

The room was clean. Just looked weathered. The door to the room was not sealed, carpet needs repair. At checkin the staff was friendly. Parking safely was a challenge. had a lot of Big trucks in the front of the parking area.

We like how convenient the location is to family nearby and the free continental breakfast. Staff is very nice and helpful.

We went to majestic, Caverns, and this hotel was very easy to access our attraction and great restaurants.

Breakfast could have had a little work, the pancake maker was down and that thing is normally one of the miracles of modern technology. The bread and croissants had a little mold on it but bread tends to do that fast so I'm not worried about that. The room was immaculate and very comfortable, we've had a couple rooms where we've had to ask to be relocated so this was perfection. Staff is friendly as always, they really take pride in their work which is amazing. Laundry we didn't use. An added treat was seeing the pindo palm out front, I had never seen a fruiting palm tree so I took a few pictures so I can look it up later.

Everything was good. Excellent breakfast area and offerings.
