we booked last minute and didnt have any expectations but as we walked along the SW Coastal path and suddenly spotted the hotel we knew it was going to be good and it was even better Lovely staff, food and rooms and hot baths.

First time we've ever been offered an upgrade, which was very appreciated but.... the larger room we were offered was on the second floor as opposed to the ground floor original room, and the lift was out of order! A young chap helped us up the stairs with our luggage, but i was struggling to walk, having been to the Eden Project the day before!! So not the best upgrade but we did enjoy the bigger bed. Also the toilet seat was loose, surely the cleaner noticed?! And the water was orange, but we were told it's like that in this area....

An initial, disappointing start to our stay was quickly remedied, quietly, politely and professionally. From then on everything was so much better. The Hotel is probably a little understaffed (a reflection of the economic strains of current hospitality?) so often a Team member had to be searched out but once found were polite, attentive and friendly. Our room, a late booking so limited choice, was compact but nevertheless comfortable with an excellent rain shower in the bathroom and a good view of the river. We found a delightful lounge on the first floor from which we could watch the world go by as the river ebbed and flowed whilst enjoying the occasional glass of beer, or two!! Dinner on each night was a lovely occasion in a stylish dining room, well cooked food, nicely presented and served by delightful staff.
