Very nice hotel in Sidmouth Restaurant food lovely and staff helpful. If you prefer a room in the actual hotel Do not choose the court yard rooms . Indoor pool area requires updating. Otherwise great couple of days stay .

Great experience in Sidmouth! Clean and comfortable. Great view. Continental breakfast was tasty, not a huge choice but everything was fresh and good quality. We tried SPA which was good, not very big, but there were not many people in there so we enjoyed it. Staff on the reception and in the restaurant were friendly. Superb location - 3 min to the sea and embankment with cafes and restaurants. Definitely will recommend and return.

Great stay at the Harbour Hotel, facilities are excellent, staff are friendly and welcoming, location is great, loved the outdoor heated pool and terrace. The shops and seafront were a 10min walk away with good choice of shops and food outlets, local cinema was great and just a 15min walk. We had a great relaxing stay. Terrace view room was spacious and clean.

Loved the decor and cleanliness of the hotel, this was superb. Reception area and main restaurant is spacious, pretty to look at and smells lovely. Hotel staff so well mannered, kind, approachable and helpful. However the room I requested, (Double room) was very small,The bed took up the majority of the space, I felt a bit closed in. I understand that it was a standard double but for the rate paid (£346.67) for two nights, seemed much more like a single room. Would recommend getting the larger double for more space. Was disappointed with the indoor spa pool. Considering this is one of the strong highlights of attraction for this hotel, It is way too small and needs to be larger to accommodate more guests. There were only 6 people (adults) including myself in it this morning and we had to manoeuvre around each other to avoid a physical clash whilst swimming.

Great stay but parking options on site are limited

Nice hotel, we had a very comfortable room with a good sized bathroom. Very convenient for the town, the beach and for conaught gardens. I was disappointed with the parking though, hardly any spaces and some enormous cars were taking up two spaces. We had to pay £8 a day to leave our car over the road in the public pay&display carpark. I chose this hotel over other seafront hotels because it supposedly included parking , i think they should at least provide parking passes for use in the public carpark. This took the shine off what would otherwise have been a nice stay.

Parking is horrendous, not enough spaces and too narrow. The room needs paint repair and other TLC over the winter shutdown. Reception asked if I’d stayed before, so no record of my previous visits. (No slate with chocolate & strawberries for me then). Room thermostat was set at 25 degrees. Despite turning it down to a breathable level, I still had to wedge the windows open in order to stop sweating. Thought about sleeping with the door open, as it was a courtyard room, but there was a storm outside, so just sweated instead. Not the best experience. The chap who served me for breakfast in the main restaurant was excellent. Some people can just shine under any circumstances.

I only had the breakfast, but continental and cooked was good. Staff were attentive. The fan in my room was covered in dust, but the receptionist insisted on cleaning it when none of the cleaning staff were about. It was not possible to sit at the desk on the chair provided as there was not enough room because of the bed. The rain water shower was excellent though.

Room was not as expected/advertised. Room was difficult to move around with the sofa blocking walkway to bathroom when in use. Balcony was not spacious terrace with privacy screens, as shown in photos, but very small and shared with neighbours' seating immediately outside our french doors. No privacy whatsoever. Found someone's shoe under a cushion, toilet rim needs serious attention and black mould in bath sealant. Air con duct was very close with noise and smell being very unpleasant. This was supposedly one of the best rooms in the hotel at £360 per night but failed to impress on any level apart from the view. Do not accept Room 33 as you will surely be disappointed.

We waited for our room as it wasn’t ready upon arrival. Once onto the room absolutely filthy.

Beautiful setting. Pools lovely. Restaurant good food but not enough selection & tables left uncleared. Menus unclean. The bar itself was filthy, needed a good wipe down, as were the lounge glass tables. Room very nice & comfortable.

Very nice hotel my only problem was with the room it was a single room but it was very small House keeping was very poor which i did bring this to their attention but nothing was done. Even had a manager have to make up my bed one evening as i had stripped it but no clean bedding was put on the bed.

A nice but slightly disappointing stay. The hotel was lovely and views cannot be faulted, however there were lots of little things that don't impact your stay really, you'd expect to be better given the amount you're paying. There are lots of minor cosmetics like dents on walls, rusty chromework etc as well as the cleanliness. There were cobwebs everywhere in the bar and restaurant and the floor always seemed to have crumbs somewhere. In our room, our fan was caked in dust and the ledges and skirting boards were also very dusty. The staff on reception and in the bar were lovely, but very overworked! One housekeeper barged past us on the narrow stairs more than once, including when we were carrying suitcases! None of this would put me off staying again as the location is amazing, however I would only go back there if it was a lot cheaper - our little room facing the car park was not really worth over £200 a night.

Not meeting expectation of a 4 star hotel. Parking is extremely limited, there were rarely parking spaces when returning at the end of a busy day and alternative parking is chargeable public car park. Room was nice and well appointed however disappointing to see mold on bathroom seals and plugs, a dirty face towel in my sink on arrival and it remained in the room for the entire week despite me either putting it in the bath or on the floor where most hotels will remove towels placed in these areas.

Very nice stay.great location for town and stunning views from bar and restaurant.offered an upgrade room but found it really nice and large but was too dark for us and had a smaller room which was duel aspect which made it really bright with great views.We found the room really dusty and think the supervisor should have checked property. A really nice stay with great breakfasts

Nice hotel spoilt by the lack of air con. Room almost uninhabitable without a large freestanding fan running 24/7.

Hotel is in a beautiful location. The deck views where you can sit outside and eat and drink are beautiful. The rooms was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The room was described as a courtyard room. The courtyard is part of the car park, so it’s a car park view room. The service was slow and below what we have come to expect from a Harbour hotel. There was no table service outside, so had to return to the bar to order food and drink. Something I am fine with in pubs, not a hotel. Staff seemed generally unsure of what they were doing. We weren’t asked how I stay was when we checked out. Overall, a clean and comfortable hotel, let down by slow and underwhelming service.

Me and my partner have just returned from a 2 night stay. The hotel itself is stunning and very modern. The rooms are very nice and the restuarant/bar overlooking the see is very impressive. The spa facilities are also very good and relaxing, although its not the biggest and can get cramped quite quickly. The food we ate at the restaurant although a bit on the pricey side, was exceptional quality and very tasty. The breakfast was also fantastic with lots of choice. There were a few areas that means i stop short of giving this hotel top marks. We were placed in room 16. This room is directly above what I believe to swimming pool extractor fans (which were going all night). This led to a lack of sleep on our first night and the purchase of ear plugs the next day. The bins and recycling are also in this area and could be noisy at times. It didn't spoil our stay, but i wouldn't like to be in 16 again Parking - while we supposed to have free parking, we arrived to find the carpark full. Apparently they were also very busy with afternoon tea guests and members. We had to park in the public carpark at a cost and this was not offered to be reimbursed. Reception - on arrival, we were not given and explanation of how to find our room (its a bit of a maze) and were just left to it. On check out, we paid the remaining balance of our trip (restaurant food). However, we were then also asked to provide our card details so they could be stored on the system, with no explanation why.

We have previously stayed in the Christchurch Harbour Hotel and that experience was excellent so was excited to try the Hotel in Sidmouth. The staff were all lovely and helpful couldn’t fault their service. Unfortunately I would say our room was only big enough for 1 person. The room was very small, when we entered into our room we bumped straight into the bed, not much room to move around it. The kettle and fridge were also in the wardrobe which was very hard to get to as once opening the door this hit the bed. Also as the room was small and at the top of the hotel the room was very hot and could not sleep due to the intense heat in this room. The toilet was also dirty which I cleaned myself and did pass on this information to reception staff. It was such a shame as we had such a lovely stay at the previous hotel and was so looking forward to this birthday treat. The room was not what we were expecting and was a real let down

Location, hotel, and spa all excellent. One major let down though- no air conditioning in the bedrooms. I was given a fan when i queried this, however the fan was far too noisy to be able to sleep. It really was far too hot, and unfortunately this would deter me from returning in the summer season. Otherwise the stay was fantastic!

Two night stay at Harbour hotel good overall stay with excellent service.

Hotel is beautiful but service at dinner time and in the evening for the bar was so slow. I remember the team being much more on it around Covid and right after Covid. I hope management addresses this as it’s a beautiful hotel.

Disappointed with the service at dinner and breakfast, staff were lovely but not enough of them working, so service was extremely slow with dirty tables everywhere. First room did not have a working TV and second room did not have a hairdryer - had to ring reception from my mobile as the phone in the room did not work either.

Absolutely lovely location, and stunning views from the restaurant. We had a really spacious, quiet room that was super clean. (I think we even had an upgrade.) Everything about the stay was great and I'd recommend the hotel to anyone. It's less than a 10 min walk into the town with plenty of food options around. The only two things I encountered that didn't make my rating completely 5* - I booked a spa treatment online and paid, only to go to the spa at my booking time for them to say their servers were down so anything booked online wasn't confirmed. They were as accommodating as they could be, and booked me for the next day, but my plans had to be altered and I felt like I'd wasted a day! Another small thing, when we ordered some tempura prawns as room service, we were told the £4 price was actually just for one, normal sized prawn.. I think that was a bit steep!

Lovely hotel and great location. The only complaint we would have is the service in the restaurant & bar as they didn’t have enough staff. On the Saturday evening they had a wedding which meant the bar and restaurant service really suffered.

We loved our stay at the Harbour Hotel. The staff team are fantastic, the hotel was clean, modern and classy, and the perfect location... And the breakfast was fantastic!

Great location and easy access to the front. Quiet hotel and helpful staff. Parking on site or long stay car park directly opposite costing £8 for 24 hours. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Wonderfully relaxing stay, fabulous suite and excellent experience with massage in spa. Food in restaurant in the evening was exceptional, selection of wine generous. A very warm group of staff, helpful accommodating and just generally fantastic.

Great location with sundeck giving excellent views long the coast of the red cliffs and overlooking Sidmouth. Beach and coast path both just a few minutes walk away. BUT... veggie meal choices limited- the one they did have was original but more like a starter. Waiting staff very young and not attentive. We went out onto amazing sundeck for breakfast and were ignored - had to keep going back in to order coffee. We avoided booking a "courtyard" room and went for a double instead... but ended up getting a double in the courtyard with view of the wheelie bins and people walking along the wooden decking ! Mostly we'd say a nice hotel, but just not quite to the standard we had hoped for. We would recommend this hotel as clean, well equipped room, great hotel location.

The hotel was within walking distance of downtown which was very convenient for restaurants and shopping. The road is right along the seaside and there is a little hidden coffee shop on a cliff across from the hotel. You walk up some steps through a small botanical garden to get there. Our room was quite small for twin beds. The beds were comfy but hardly any room to put our suitcases. It was really special to have Nespresso coffees, teas and cookies replenished every day. The staff was very nice and the hotel nicely decorated. When we first arrived I was not sure what to expect because outside the entrance was a dry fountain filled with plants that looked dead and very unkempt. But once inside I was relieved to see much better aesthetics. We had lunch in the restaurant on site one day. The food was nothing special and the music in the dining area was really loud and not appropriate for a good atmosphere. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. I would recommend this hotel for a good comfortable stay. Maybe dine elsewhere. There are some good options within walking distance.

I enjoyed my stay and overall I rate it good. The service was a little slow at times perhaps because it was at full capacity owing to the good weather. And the salt and pepper shakers were very sticky and I doubt had ever been cleaned. Nonetheless I would stay here again.

the hotel room was in a motel style annexe away from the main building. To be fair the room was comfy. Biggest issue was food and service. Staff were all inexperienced and dinner food was at best average and portions extremely small. Really poor value. Breakfast similar and we were asked to pay extra for sausages/bacon!! Service terribly slow. Overall poor value, and to be clear there is no sea view.

Lovely hotel with fantastic views. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay, the only downside was the lack of vegetarian options.

We booked for our 10th anniversary. Emailed a month before to say that it was our anniversary and that would be amazing if we could use our VIP hotels.com status to make that happen and also about any spa packages available. On check in it was clear that they hadn't even seen the message, which explains no response. They did send a bottle of prosecco to our room which was nice. The room was fine, but very small, and considering the price, wasnt good value. Staff were good and friendly. Spa and poor area were good. I think the biggest let down was the food. Really average and overpriced. When they advertise "tempura vegetables", they should know what tempura is...its not the batter they use for the fish and chips!! The fish and chips is very avaerage too. Thin, too much batter and over fried. £30 for a main (once you've added carbs), and its bang average, is just too much. Could be great but needs to decide what it wants to be. If it thinks its a 5 star hotel, food needs to be much better. For the price of the rooms and food, it just doesn't stack up.

Hotel was clean, dinner was lovely, breakfast very bland, staff not that friendly, we choose a room upgrade from standard to courtyard but didnt feel value for money. Good situation of hotel close to town

Nice trip. Hotel a little tired in places but the food was good. Bit cheeky charging a service charge for drinks when you're actually sat on a bar stool!

Just returned from a 2 night stay. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The room was fantastic. The beds were so comfortable. The shower was great! The restaurant served delicious food - we had dinner and breakfast. We will be back!
