Well equipped comfortable room with modern bathroom and complimentary water. Nice spa area with cafe. Hotel bar and restaurant was a bit dated. Breakfast was a varied and plentiful buffet.

Comfortable room food delicious pool area very busy on the afternoon not enough beds/chairs,had to ask for water to be filled up very hot door was locked around pool area, stayed a few times here,I would still come again just putting my input in there.Thanks again

The family suite we were in was quite small and half no division between the childrens' beds and the double. We saw that other family suites were bigger and had the division so it seems to be luck of the draw. In any case, the smaller room we were in was not really good value compared to the others. Otherwise the hotel is quite nice. Was a bit disappointed that children could only use the pool uring a short window.

Have stayed here a couple of times now. Isses wirh czr chsrging on bitj ocaasions. Yesterday, the main lift, jacuzzi and steam room were also out of action. Staff are lovely. Sww me striggling snd helped guide me to my room. Dinner was nice as well. Just seems that maybe some of the infrastructure needs work to cooe or be improved. Will stay ahain. But if you have an EV. Suggest you look atcusing the rapid charpers 3 miles away.

The stay itself was great. Receptionist was lovely and we were made very welcome despite our very late arrival. Our only issue was with EV parking which didn't work. This was an issue given the distance we had travelled. Otherwise, a lovely stay

Enjoyed most of the stay, luxurious hotel, food really good, spa was great although a little overcrowded. Bathroom wasn’t great as not clean and dust all over light shades and tiles hanging off the wall, would go again as we enjoy it here but rooms need to be better maintained.

We stayed 2 nights Thursday & Friday half board. The room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast & evening meal, food and service fantastic. Pool, sauna & steam room perfect. Full body massage fantastic. Overall couldnt fault our stay. Perfect relaxation.. Thank you again Redworth Hall... our go to hotel

Family break with tweens. Family rooms a good size though layout a little strange. Pool area was sadly dirty, grout around pool filthy and staff were brushing water off this area back into the pool. Lots of bits in the pool as a result so took the shine off an otherwise lovely couple of days! Outdoor seating and space at the front of the hotel was perfect for the evening.

The room look neglected wondows were filthy scurtting round bath was hanging of .breakfast was poor eegs over cooked sausages over cooked tryed telling the staff and they weren't realy botherd .

Nice hotel but room we were in could of done with a freshen up, few cob webs, childs dirty hand prints on wall, hair on 1 of the beds. No complementary bottles of water in room as youd normally get and also little tiles that had come off the bottle of the pool still in the pool..

The first room that give us there was a horrendous smell we had to get it changed and after that the steam room was out of order plus a lift paid for my breakfast to find a big hair in it due to the cook not wearing a hair net

Dated, rooms with cracks in the ceilings, moldy shower screens and easily the worst shower I’ve ever had in a hotel. Breakfast was poor with a hot water dispenser that had soapy water, so skipped my cuppa… would not recommend.

The price for the room was great and the hotel was beautiful. Gym and pool were excellent. The rooms need an update. The showers need updating also but other than that it was a relaxing stay

I stayed here 3 separate times on my recent trip and was able to stay in 3 different rooms. Pros: - The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - Shortbread & sparkling/still water free each day in the room - Shower pressure in all rooms was excellent - The towel warmer was a nice feature - Fans available - Plenty of parkin,g including EV charging - Front house rooms are charming and larg,e but could do with a deep clean and a bit of a glow up in terms of paint and curtain cleaning. - Facilities within the hotel are fantastic - Windows open in rooms for fresh air Cons: - Musky/sweaty smell in old rooms - Lack of an elevator in front house - Power outage every morning, sometimes multiple times - No conditioner or amenities inthe bathroom - No air conditioner inthe front house rooms - Hard pillows unless in upgraded rooms - Back house 'modern' rooms are falling apart eg, paint coming off the wall and lack of working fixtures (side lamps) - Cleaning wasnt the best, checked into a room where side drawers had questionable items left and soap in the shower didnt get refilled for days - Weird places for powerpoints, not close to bed. - No minibar or place to keep things cold unless in upgraded rooms. Overall I had a pleasant stay each time and would stay here again, just things to be mindful of. The property is historical and charming, and the location is good. It is quiet and about a 10-20-minute drive to main destinations like Bishop Auckland or Darlington.

Arrived to the hotel with me and my partner. Check in really easy and warm and friendly staff. Stayed at room 332. Room was really tired. Shower was so poor, either too hot or freezing cold. Went down for drinks and again star really warm and friendly. Service at the bar was great. Booked a table in the restaurant and ordered 2 drinks. It took 35 mins to receive drinks. We got food quicker than we got our drinks despite asking a couple of times. Sleep was okay, pillows were rock hard but we both got a half decent sleep. Breakfast overall was okay. Sausages had a funny taste but a great selection and far quicker service in the morning. I wouldn’t return back to the hotel unless rooms were upgraded. Corridors had wall paper peeling off and for a 4 star hotel, you shouldn’t really see his.

On arrival, the staff are all very welcoming and helpful and this continued throughout the stay. Room was warm and comfortable although probably due for a modernisation especially the bathroom which felt a little dated. No complaints whatsoever with the food, both the evening meal and breakfast were very good. Would stay again if in the area

We upgraded to a delux room as a treat for ourselves but found it situated above the reception area/front entrance. Had noise until well after midnight and at 6.30am coaches parked outside engines running. Accessibility was non existent. Dinner was in a small room with table of 10 in middle and 4 of us couples wedged up against the walls. The party of 10 were loud and dominated the area making small talk impossible as well as putting the poor staff at a disadvantage as they were constantly barraged by the table to wait on them even when bring us our food. Extremely poor decision making on the part of the manager. Spoke to FOH staff who were not in the slightest bit interested in assisting. Will never recommend this hotel

Lovely room. Very spacious. Unfortunately located at the rear of the hotel and adjacent to the ‘service’ area ie bins, inbound deliveries etc. so very noisy from external influences. Reception staff very apologetic and sympathetic. Didn’t ruin our stay but rather just ‘spoiled’ it.

Lovely stay at Redworth. Had to be moved rooms due to a leaking pipe but was done quickly and we were upgraded. Upgraded suite was lovely but floorboards creaky in all areas. Could hear every movement from every room around us. Breakfast was amazing.

We have stayed 3 times before this. And never seen this sort of experience for check in. It was a disaster honestly the que was round the main room. When we got there a few people had issues so the check in or there rooms. Quinn with two neuro divergent children was awful to get to the front and be told there isn’t a room available. Yet the couple with two children after us there room was done. We were told to wait. We got there at just before 3 and didn’t get checked in till nearly 4. That to me isn’t ok. The kids by then were dis regulated and it wasn’t the trip we had experienced or have had before.

Hotel was very comfortable and the reception staff and duty manager were very helpful. The food, although quite expensive was fabulous, spoiled only by generally slow service. If you are not in a rush to finish it is fine but if you are eating after 9 then it can be frustrating. However generally a very nice weekend in a great hotel in fabulous scenery

Stayed in the original part of the building, very nice indeed. Only saw the original part of the hotel , didn’t use the pool etc. gardens nice and lots of seating. Could do with a bit of TLC in areas, windows cleaned , outside lamps glass cleaned.just to enhance the property. Staff very pleasant although bar staff struggled, large line of customers waiting to be served. Menu is limited in the restaurant, and two nights running had meals and desserts unavailable. Breakfast was first class,with lots of choice and well attended by staff.

We had a fab stay, there was a little queue at check in and only 2 staff on so the queue moved a little slow however i believe there was an event on the evening so the hotel was quite busy. We were offered a room close to the spa which was quite far from the main reception however perfect for us as we wanted to be in a quiet location and this was perfect. The hotel is like a maze! We encountered many people lost with many corridors and multiple lifts in different areas it is very easy to get lost in! We ate breakfast in the hotel which was buffet style, we arrived around 9am and werr seated straight away. It was average but nice. We used the spa facilities and on the evening it was quite busy and not really enough space for everyone. We had nowhere to sit and relax the pool smelt a little funny but not sure of what tbh. We left after half an hour and returned the next morning which was much quieter and cleaner. The staff also seemed much more friendly and happy to help in the morning (we didnt encounter any rude staff just the morning ataff were more upbeat and friendly) we passed cleaners along the corridors who were happy to help with directions and all seemed friendly. The christmas decorations around the hotel are stunning and really get you in the christmassy mood. Would go again and would reccomend for a little chill break.

Check in was busy due to many guests arriving at the same time but the staff dealt with it well and were very friendly. It's a beatiful old building with nice modern rooms. The bathroom was big with a walk in shower and a large bath. The restaurant dinner was really very good and also great service from the staff. I did not use the spa or pool facilities so can't comment on them.

We arrived tired after travelling most of the day but found that we had made an error on the booking. Abbie on reception took it upon herself to sort out the error and advised us to relax in the bar while she sorted it out. We cannot thank her enough for her help and kindness which really made our stay so very special. THANK YOU Abbie.

What a gorgeous place to stay and the majority of the staff were what customer service quality is all about. Reception staff faultless, helpful and friendly Waiting/bar staff fantastic. Did have a couple of minor issues whilst there which were sorted out by the lovely staff we encountered, however, one particular restaurant manager was rude and unhelpful. Luckily the rest of the staff made up for her ineptitude and the issue she refused to deal with was sorted by others. Definitely will be back.

Bar was a bit crowded for food and no space, had to clear our own table but apart from that food was tip top. Girl on check in was great 10/10 nice , chatty and helpful just what you need after a 5 hour drive up the A1 she was a credit to the Hotel.

Really nice hotel, me and my partner stayed here as we were visiting the Railway Museum which was really close. We had a great stay, I loved the pillows on the bed, so comfy, had a great nights sleep and spent the evening in the bar, staff were friendly and helpful! Breakfast was good and we had dinner in the restaurant, meal was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Stopped here on the way home for an evening. Reception staff gave a nice greeting. Walk to room seemed like miles and was awkward due to being based in the "old building part". Up and down small staircases which were poorly carpeted and loose. Tripped twice. Hit my head on low level ceiling part as well. Room was nice looking but too warm due to fixed "on" radiator you cant switch off. Floorboards were very loose and creaky throughout. Mattress comfy. Restaurant nice and food good. Breakfast was particularly good value buffet style. Breakfast staff a mixture of grumpy and nice. Reception girl on leaving very nice and smiley which was good. Building nice looking externally. Main car park a fair walk on slight up hill. Nasty in the rain. Car covered in sap, tree debris and bird droppings on return. Never had this in my hundreds of hotel stays anywhere. Nightmare to clean off. Be wary. Hotel has great potential but needs points attended to in my humble opinion. Sorry my review seems a bit negative but feel it could be great with minimal efforts. Thanks.

I stayed here 3 separate times on my recent trip and was able to stay in 3 different rooms. Pros: - The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - Shortbread & sparkling/still water free each day in the room - Shower pressure in all rooms was excellent - The towel warmer was a nice feature - Fans available - Plenty of parkin,g including EV charging - Front house rooms are charming and larg,e but could do with a deep clean and a bit of a glow up in terms of paint and curtain cleaning. - Facilities within the hotel are fantastic - Windows open in rooms for fresh air Cons: - Musky/sweaty smell in old rooms - Lack of an elevator in front house - Power outage every morning, sometimes multiple times - No conditioner or amenities inthe bathroom - No air conditioner inthe front house rooms - Hard pillows unless in upgraded rooms - Back house 'modern' rooms are falling apart eg, paint coming off the wall and lack of working fixtures (side lamps) - Cleaning wasnt the best, checked into a room where side drawers had questionable items left and soap in the shower didnt get refilled for days - Weird places for powerpoints, not close to bed. - No minibar or place to keep things cold unless in upgraded rooms. Overall I had a pleasant stay each time and would stay here again, just things to be mindful of. The property is historical and charming, and the location is good. It is quiet and about a 10-20-minute drive to main destinations like Bishop Auckland or Darlington.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Excellent spa and gym. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet with some options to order from the kitchen. Everything was freshly cooked and warm with plenty of staff to attend tables. We used as a base to travel into Durham. Used park and ride which is only 5 mins on the bus and costs £2.20 return - much easier than the hassle of driving into a city centre at the weekend and trying to find a car park. I would definitely use the hotel again.

The avenue of beautiful trees along the driveway entrance provided a warm welcome to our stay. And the spectacular Rhododendrons in the top parking area were lovely too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic stay, very clean well presented rooms, made use of the swimming pool and the grounds were beautifully kept and maintained. Breakfast was a little over crowded, but the hotel did say it would get busy at peak times. Good breakfast options amd great service from check in, to service at breakfast amd even the gardener said hello!

I had a two night weekday stay. It was easy to find and there was lots of free parking, some spaces even had electric car charging points. I arrived before the 3 pm check-in time so went to make enquiries at The Retreat spa and leisure centre. Claudia, who works there, was really polite, helpful and attentive and gave me advice and options on what to do before check-in. She was really patient whilst I dithered with my choices. She is a real asset. I had a back, shoulder and neck massage with Eve which was really helpful because the knots in my muscles kept popping like bubble wrap. I had the same treatment the next day with Charlotte and, again, the treatment was excellent. Both of them confirmed details before the treatment and told me what to expect, then at the end they gave me recommendations, which I would never have contemplated. My room was a standard double and was really quiet, clean, spacious and well-equipped. I liked the large flat screen TV which was built-in and didn't dominate the room. The bed was so comfortable and I slept really well (the massages definitely helped). There were about nine electrical sockets, which were handy for charging devices. Also supplied was a hair-dryer, iron, ironing board, and trouser press. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped with everything you'd expect. Two things I'd like; 1) The ability to preregister online. 2) A choice of herbal teas, not just green tea.

Family room size and facilities were fantastic but spoilt by poor signal on TV, very tired/marked carpets, and hotel in general was too warm. Pool was great. Bar/Restaurant was good and staff friendly but drinks service was very slow and not worth the service charge added to the bill.

We stayed 2 nights Thursday & Friday half board. The room very clean and comfortable. Breakfast & evening meal, food and service fantastic. Pool, sauna & steam room perfect. Hotel itself is okay, spa and gym is a nice included touch. Rooms themselves are okay, slept well but bathroom could do with modernising and carpet replacing. Avoid the restaurant as poor quality food and very overpriced. I ordered burrata and was given mozzarella. Other tables also complained about their meals. Breakfast is good value at £10 (prebooked).

Good: Looked pretty at night. Big room. Pool and spa facilities were okay. Bad: Very slow service in restaurant. Bed was poor. Breakfast was like a greasy spoon. Other guests were bizarre. If booking for dinner maybe ring to check whether a coach-load of people are coming at the same time!

First time coming to redworth hall and got to say we really enjoyed it, we would definitely recommend coming here and we are going to book up again. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub, staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and tidy. We stayed in the deluxe house room which was so spacious and we were amazed by how nice it was, the bath was the best bit very spacious bath and was so relaxing. Only downfall we had was the service at the pool bar we waited ages for someone to acknowledge we were there then when they did they told us they would serve us in a few minutes, 10 minutes later no one came to serve us so we ended up going to the bar downstairs as we were so thirsty after coming from the pool and couldn’t wait any longer. We dined at the restraint on the night time and we got steak it was really nice couldn’t fault it, they do try add service charge but we refused to pay it as you don’t have too. Also the breakfast on the morning was absolutely amazing, loads to choose from and it was so fresh and tasty. Overall we have a brilliant stay and looking forward to returning.

We dined at the restraint on the night time and we got steak it was really nice couldn’t fault it, they do try add service charge but we refused to pay it as you don’t have too. Also the breakfast on the morning was absolutely amazing, loads to choose from and it was so fresh and tasty. Overall we have a brilliant stay and looking forward to returning.

The newer part with the swimming pool is good but the older part is a bit tired. Good staff and good breakfast.

We spent the afternoon in the spa…. was red hot & they weren’t allowed to open the doors as the outside space hadn’t been tidied up…. it’s August & we’ve had some beautiful weather. The loungers were all stained & shabby looking. We chose to eat in the bar & the menu is very limited. Room was lovely. It used to be our favourite place but not sure if we’d hurry back 😩

Do not book spa rooms , in basement far away from main building, lots of ups and downs in separate lifts and long walks. And getting lost. Rooms no view except for brick wall. NEED CAR , bit isolated.
