Lovely hotel. Room very nice. Food and drinks excellent. Beautifully decorated buildings, perfect balance of luxury yet relaxed. Staff welcoming and friendly. Quiet, relaxing understated good service. Easy access to everywhere by car and short walk to the sea. Highly recommend

Recommended to stay by a friend and hotel accommodation was fine (room small but cosy) although no water when we got up to shower. Came on 30 mins later but we were on a schedule so not great. Hotel welcome and info was excellent though. Service was extremely slow for our evening meal. Waited nearly 30 mins to be served. Main course overcooked - didn’t complain at the time as by now it was 9.30 and we were starving. Needed a breakfast at 8am but had no confidence in the timing after previous night, so decided to skip that (as we had to shower later because no water ) and left. With London prices at this hotel, it was very disappointing

A lot of time and trouble has clearly been invested in this hotel & there is much to applaud. The design and layout of the public spaces are excellent, with an elegant, homely feel, and there are one or two surprising areas to discover, such as the wine room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, from the two receptionists to those in the restaurant. The quality of the food was exceptional. As a single person, though, I did have a couple of reservations. Firstly, my room, a 'Snug', whilst comfortable and relaxing, had no storage space whatsoever, beyond a couple of hooks. Secondly, I felt (possibly unfairly) the Dinner menu did not exactly encourage a single person. There was a longish list of Sharers and the Side dish I ordered (£8) was clearly for (at least) two people. I am sure the hotel is destined for great success, but hope for the sake of other singles a few tweaks are made.

An excellent time. Lovely setting and great having seperate rooms. Allows you to come and go as you please. Great reception at front desk and really welcoming staff in restaurant and at the bat.

What a happy accident. We made a very last minute decision to have a stay on the North Norfolk Coast and picked The Maltings almost by sticking a pin in the list. It turned out we had chosen one of the finest hotels we could have found and the location was perfect. The hotel staff were extremely friendly without being overly intrusive and the hotel itself is really cosy and welcoming. There are lots of areas to sit and rest with a drink. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away and that opens the opportunity to head into Sheringham along the coastal path. We ate at the local pub, but the hotel restaurant looks really inviting and the food top quality. We did have breakfast there and sure enough it was delicious. Altogether a memorable break in a hotel fitting for the discerning guest.

We actually didn’t stay at the maltings, when we got there they had to move us as they had a boiler breakdown. We got moved to sister hotel at holt called the feathers which was very nice & got a free meal. Although no fault of their own they dealt with us very well & couldn't apologise enough & made sure we were looked after. For what we saw of the maltings hotel it looked really nice & we will hopefully go back again .

The Malting has be developed to a very high standard, and is staffed by very competent and polite people. The bar area has a very traditional feel to it with comfortable seating and beautiful surrounds. The restaurant, whist a little expensive delivers quality food however the menu is rather limited. Service is excellent.

Fantastic stay! The room was wonderful and thoughtfully catered for my dog. Often, pet-friendly rooms can feel a bit second-rate compared to others, but this was absolutely not the case. The room was spotless, cozy, and warm — complete with a dog bed, treats, bowls, and even poo bags, which was such a nice touch. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff were outstanding — so helpful, friendly, and welcoming to both me and my dog. He was treated like a guest in his own right, even getting a sausage at breakfast, which he loved! Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We both felt so comfortable and looked after, and I’ll definitely be returning very soon.

Excellent hotel stay. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The main house is comfortable and welcoming. The room was lovely, maybe a tad small but extremely clean with premium sheets and had everything you needed. Good coffee too! Only one tiny suggestion - the soap and shower gel were same container - it would be good to have a small bar soap at the sink so you didn’t need to move them. Love having bath robes. The restaurant was delightful - very fresh healthy food and great service. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay.

From the outside the property looks lovely. But when you get to the room the plastering, painting & carpentry is poor. We couldn’t close the bathroom door. It was too narrow to catch the lock. The walls are so thin we could hear next door spitting into their sink at 1am. The hallway smelt musty. Sheer blinds and curtains to hide the building site view out of the window. Shame that wasn’t tidied up after the renovation. The fresh milk wasn’t fresh and actually sour so we couldn’t make a hot drink. The flask system with no fridge or date on doesn’t work. My second stay at a chestnut hotel with this problem. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and curtains were decent quality. The breakfast was lovely and the buffet on offer. Staff very friendly but when some of these bad points were mentioned they didn’t seem interested.

We liked the super spacious room. The gorgeous bathroom - the shower was great. The easy walk to the sea. The bottle shop, though a corkage fee of £25, I wouldn't class as small. The games room for some friendly competition with a pre-dinner pint. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were lovely throughout our one night stay. We didn't like being seated for dinner in the terrace area of the Grain Store. It was cold, so we'd request to sit in the double-storey grain store restaurant next time. More atmosphere, too.

The room was lovely, maybe a tad small but extremely clean with premium sheets and had everything you needed. Good coffee too! Only one tiny suggestion - the soap and shower gel were same container - it would be good to have a small bar soap at the sink so you didn’t need to move them. Love having bath robes. The restaurant was delightful - very fresh healthy food and great service. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Stayed a couple of days & were in Room 1. Due to the hot weather windows needed to be open thus noise travelled easier & early morning disturbances (Dustmen?) were unwelcome Food offering was good although the sharing options were a tad pompous & overpriced in our opinion. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were all friendly & responsive to any requests.

From the outside the property looks lovely. But when you get to the room the plastering, painting & carpentry is poor. We couldn’t close the bathroom door. It was too narrow to catch the lock. The walls are so thin we could hear next door spitting into their sink at 1am. The hallway smelt musty. Sheer blinds and curtains to hide the building site view out of the window. Shame that wasn’t tidied up after the renovation. The fresh milk wasn’t fresh and actually sour so we couldn’t make a hot drink. The flask system with no fridge or date on doesn’t work. My second stay at a chestnut hotel with this problem. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and curtains were decent quality. The breakfast was lovely and the buffet on offer. Staff very friendly but when some of these bad points were mentioned they didn’t seem interested.

Recommended to stay by a friend and hotel accommodation was fine (room small but cosy) although no water when we got up to shower. Came on 30 mins later but we were on a schedule so not great. Hotel welcome and info was excellent though. Service was extremely slow for our evening meal. Waited nearly 30 mins to be served. Main course overcooked - didn’t complain at the time as by now it was 9.30 and we were starving. Needed a breakfast at 8am but had no confidence in the timing after previous night, so decided to skip that (as we had to shower later because no water ) and left. With London prices at this hotel, it was very disappointing

We loved the room (8) and the shower was exceptional. Food was hit and miss, and service sometimes slow, and the restaurant acoustics mean that other people’s conversations are well heard! But… a lovely team of helpful and (just enough) attentive staff, who endeavour to make your stay all you could wish for.

We had a beautiful 2 night stay here, pretty little village but close to a beautiful shingle beach. Sharon on the front desk was amazing, she offered us an upgrade which made the time very special. Food was amazing too, breakfast kept us going til the mid afternoon! Can highly recommend the veg tagine to share on the evening menu. Ideal spot for exploring the north Norfolk coast.

We actually didn’t stay at the maltings, when we got there they had to move us as they had a boiler breakdown. We got moved to sister hotel at holt called the feathers which was very nice & got a free meal. Although no fault of their own they dealt with us very well & couldn't apologise enough & made sure we were looked after. For what we saw of the maltings hotel it looked really nice & we will hopefully go back again .

Everything about our stay was perfect. The staff couldn’t do more for us, dinner was delicious, breakfast was delicious and such an incredible selection available. The venue has been done up so mindfully and it’s absolutely beautiful. The surroundings are quiet but gorgeous. We can’t wait to come back again.

What a happy accident. We made a very last minute decision to have a stay on the North Norfolk Coast and picked The Maltings almost by sticking a pin in the list. It turned out we had chosen one of the finest hotels we could have found and the location was perfect. The hotel staff were extremely friendly without being overly intrusive and the hotel itself is really cosy and welcoming. There are lots of areas to sit and rest with a drink. The beach is only a 10 minute walk away and that opens the opportunity to head into Sheringham along the coastal path. We ate at the local pub, but the hotel restaurant looks really inviting and the food top quality. We did have breakfast there and sure enough it was delicious. Altogether a memorable break in a hotel fitting for the discerning guest.

Fantastic stay! The room was wonderful and thoughtfully catered for my dog. Often, pet-friendly rooms can feel a bit second-rate compared to others, but this was absolutely not the case. The room was spotless, cozy, and warm — complete with a dog bed, treats, bowls, and even poo bags, which was such a nice touch. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff were outstanding — so helpful, friendly, and welcoming to both me and my dog. He was treated like a guest in his own right, even getting a sausage at breakfast, which he loved! Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We both felt so comfortable and looked after, and I’ll definitely be returning very soon.

The Malting has be developed to a very high standard, and is staffed by very competent and polite people. The bar area has a very traditional feel to it with comfortable seating and beautiful surrounds. The restaurant, whist a little expensive delivers quality food however the menu is rather limited. Service is excellent.

The room was huge and very comfortable. Bath and shower were both fabulous. The hotel staff were very friendly. Breakfast was superb and the breakfast room was very light and airy. We had drinks from the bar and sat in the games room which was fab playing dominoes and solitaire. We had a wonderful stay thankyou so much.

Lovely stay from check in with very helpful, friendly receptionist, excellent dinner with perfect service and the same with breakfast. Lovely stay for a few days in Norfolk, in a good location. We struggled with parking on the first day arriving during bank holiday weekend - we had to park on a random street 10 minutes away. So we weren’t able to bring our luggage with us to check in, and had to wait until the evening to get a parking space. The staff weren’t particularly helpful when we asked what we should do in this situation, but they seemed quite busy and stressed. There was also a problem with our room key being missing - the situation was a bit chaotic. So this paired with the parking didn’t get us off to the best start. The room was comfortable with a large bed and had everything we needed. The shower was powerful and warm. Only thing to note was the sink was in the bedroom not the bathroom which is worth noting. The room, and the hallways of the main house could do with a refresh of paint too. Our room overlooked the courtyard and it was quite warm so we had the window open which did mean it was a bit noisy at night, especially over the bank holiday. The food was very good. Both at breakfast and for dinner. The breakfast menu could have done with a couple more hot options for when you are staying more than a couple days as it did get repetitive. But the food was fresh and tasty and the continental spread was good. Overall a lovely hotel, but it could just improve a little in places to deliver the experience they are wanting to offer.

There was also a problem with our room key being missing - the situation was a bit chaotic. So this paired with the parking didn’t get us off to the best start. The room was comfortable with a large bed and had everything we needed. The shower was powerful and warm. Only thing to note was the sink was in the bedroom not the bathroom which is worth noting. The room, and the hallways of the main house could do with a refresh of paint too. Our room overlooked the courtyard and it was quite warm so we had the window open which did mean it was a bit noisy at night, especially over the bank holiday. The food was very good. Both at breakfast and for dinner. The breakfast menu could have done with a couple more hot options for when you are staying more than a couple days as it did get repetitive. But the food was fresh and tasty and the continental spread was good. Overall a lovely hotel, but it could just improve a little in places to deliver the experience they are wanting to offer.
