Nice location and friendly staff. Breakfast was good. The “handicapped” elevator from the street level to the front desk did not appear to work. We saw several people with canes and walkers struggling with the stairs.

Returned again to this lovely hotel, had family river view room, which id recommend. Staff very friendly, easy check in, breakfast is very good, from cereals, fruit to cooked breakfast. Only issue we had was the room was very hot, the window only opens slightly and there is electric fan.

It is close to river, city center lots of sight seeing spots. I live in the room with good river view. Price of hotel car parking is reasonable but the numbers of space are limited. Website of hotel is not informative, e.g. without route map to hotel, details of rooms etc.

Location is perfect, less than 10minutes walk to the Shambles, parking is great make sure you prebook. Bar area is well presented but far too small, lots of coach parties who also ate there which meant we struggled to find a space to have a night cap. Rooms are spacious, no frills and a little tired, bedding well worn, marks on the camp bed, small well worn towels, whilst clean there was rust in our sink and little mold in the bathroom. Could do with a little tlc. The location was perfect so we probably would stay again.

Hotel is by river and very convenient to downtown. Walking is easy. Has excellent breakfast and evening dinner. A little hard to find. Limited parking available. You have to call them to reserve parking

The hotel location is amazing right on the river and close to shops bars and restaurants. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast had lots of choice and was tasty. Unfortunately the car park was under water during our stay and we had to find alternative overnight parking which was expensive. I would book this Hotel again.

Both the double bed and the extra beds for my teens were very comfortable. The room was spacious and well furnished, with good storage, and both a desk and a table. There was a nice lounge/breakfast area overlooking the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even let me check the room an extra time a few hours after checking out, as I thought I had forgotten something! Also had free luggage storage both before checking in and after checking out. Would absolutely stay again!

Booked a smoking room and it stunk of stale tabs. Never again. Huge cobwebs in bathroom, im sure that room not be cleaned properly either as toothpaste marks next to bathroom sink. Breakfast wasnt the best either

We arrived to our room with a toilet that did not work and a bathroom that had not been cleaned. There was toothpaste in the sink and the hair in the bathtub was completely gross. The shower had mold in the corners. The fire alarm went off on two different days and it seems like this is an ongoing problem. The mattress and the pillows were as old as the hotel. Was a horrible stay.

Shower wasn’t hot bath was pretty stained and smelt of bleach, breakfast was the best part of the stay , but I couldn’t have eggs as they only had scrambled and I’m lactose intolerant. Staff are very friendly. Rooms have seen better days towels are tiny. Lights were full of dust, dropped my earring and under bed was very dusty .

Entry to reception is via stairs and a wheelchair lift is provided. The beds are comfortable, windows open for fresh air. Thermostatically controlled wall mounted heater and a table fan are provided. Could probably do with a bit of updating, but the location of the hotel is amazing - secure underground car parking a bonus! Reception welcoming and helpful. Breakfast great value self service. Couple of negatives - not enough plug sockets in the room (non at the side of the beds and only one at the desk!) and on moving one of the beds food/biscuits, a bobble and various other bits were discovered!

Nice big room and large bathroom. Decorated and fitted out nicely, although a little tired in some areas. Lovely clean, comfy beds and lots of hot water for a shower. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Excellent breakfast and a great location. All in all, we had a great time and will definitely book again.

The only bad thing for this hotel is that the rooms were sweltering hot and only one poor fan per room. Even when it cooled down outside, the room didn’t.

Staff very helpful. Rooms were the problem. Had two rooms no 1 and no 9. Bed in room 1 was so hard it was like lying on the floor. It was also very cold with just a small wall heater which did nothing. Room 1 was above car park so noise of roller shutter going up and down was annoying. Room 9 was also extremely cold. Hotel Location was perfect for city access although both rooms suffered noisy drunks passing throught the night. Room 1 was by the guest toilets, bar and cleaning room and we could hear people using the toilets and returning from the bar. The washing machine could also be heard in the cleaning storage room. Hotel still had social distancing signs and notices which hadnt been taken down since 2020 giving the impression nothing had been done to maintain the property. Not what you want to be reminded of when going away for a relaxing weekend.

The location is great and it helped that we had a riverside view. It’s in a great location - you feel you’re in the heart of the city but not in a busy location. You do get the noise from the pubs and clubs on the other side of the river so take earplugs or keep the window closed (no aircon). A very pleasant stay. Room was warm, there’s no air conditioning and the radiator had to be turned off rather than turned down due to the way the thermostat is covered. Comfortable bed, clean room, noise from the street until nearing midnight but that wasn’t a bother as we were out until late. Car park spaces narrow. Breakfast was really good but busy. Great location for exploring the city, lovely view over the river.

Lots of restaurants and cafes around the river on both sides, Sainsbury's 2 min from the hotel. 10 min walk to the Shambles. Nice staff. The only bad thing is the very hard beds and an outdated bathroom with only one soap for hair and body combined. No aircondition. But big spacious rooms. The hotel also had a lift.

Second visit to the Queens. The hotel is well placed for central York, with a plethora of pubs and eateries around. The room was cosy, overlooking the river, at an extra cost, which was great really. The usual coffee granule packs (Nescafe) teas (Yorkshire, if course) and a couple of biscuits were on offer in the room. Everything you need for a short break including towels, shampoo, and hairdryer all as standard. The hotel room looked tired though, the room was ok but needed sprucing up, the bed was showing its age, creaking whenever we turned! Breakfast was extra but a really great deal and something I'd highly recommend. Fresh coffee, cereals, continental and English all available through self service. Booking is essential as it always seemed a busy place in a morning. Parking is extra, and needs to be booked, currently £19 a night, which is inline with York prices, though if you arrive by train, it's only a 15 minute walk. Every member of staff was very welcoming, said hello and couldn't be more helpful. All in all, another great visit, lovely staff and a friendly hotel which just needs a bit of love and updating in the bedroom.

excellent hotel just a short walk to the town centre, room was large so was the bathroom, breakfast was very good, the only issue i had in the roon was there was only one socket for our charges.granted it had 2 usb hubs, but the newer phones are c charges with no usb.so it was a bit inconvenient trying to charge 2 phones from one socket, but that is a small issue, overall i would recommend this hotel and would definitely go back next year.

Whist the location was great, just a short walk across the bridge into the heart of town, there was a big problem with the wifi in the hotel. They new about this and there were messages around the hotel apologising but was forced to reley on hotspot from my mobile, Hope they get the fibre connection sorted soon. The room was nice, clean, and had a great view acroos the river to the city, the breakfast was good (except the coffee)

They new about this and there were messages around the hotel apologising but was forced to reley on hotspot from my mobile, Hope they get the fibre connection sorted soon. The room was nice, clean, and had a great view acroos the river to the city, the breakfast was good (except the coffee)

Room was spacious and we liked the pre paid parking. It felt very secure. They had a luggage lift which was helpful. Check-in staff not friendly, did not greet us, just handed me a paper to fill out. Breakfast hostess also struggling to be friendly. Check out staff was very friendly.

Large room but terrible internet based TV, dirty tea mug in room, and massive webs around lighting in the main interior hallway. I was surprised they only offer an open unattended area to store luggage that anyone could access in the lobby (they should mention the lack of secure storage in the booking details because it can make a difference when choosing where to stay). Breakfast buffet was over-crowded You have to book a time to dine when you check in and many optimum times are already full. Staff were polite but not friendly/welcoming. Convenient central location.

The Queens Hotel was conveniently located to much of what we wanted to see in York. We would have liked to eat in the restaurant but the one time we tried they seemed overwhelmed with a large tour group and unable to serve us, even in the attached lounge.

We went to York for a birthday weekend. The location is perfect. A 10 min walk from the train station and very central. We paid for the upgrade to get river views and was worth the extra money. The bed was super comfortable and the staff excellent. Breakfast was good

The hotel location is amazing right on the river and close to shops bars and restaurants. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast had lots of choice and was tasty. Unfortunately the car park was under water during our stay and we had to find alternative overnight parking which was expensive. I would book this Hotel again.

I liked that we had a great view of the river and the city . Great location for going to the wall, Shambles , Minster . A good walking area and lots of choices for restaurants.

We found that far from being a twin-bed room, the one king bed plus one small single that skated about wasn't what we'd expected. The bathroom has no sink-side space for toiletries, only one towel rail in an awkward place & no hooks or places to put clothing while showering. Having paid ahead for b&b we weren't best pleased to be told that there was no space for us in the dining room when we needed to advance our time for rail-travel reasons. Luckily the dining room staff took pity on us & found us a table. Our dinner on the first evening was a bit disappointing. Promising dishes arrived cold on cold plates & not much warmer when reheated. My friend's port in croute was too tough to chew. We went elsewhere next night.

Second visit to the Queens. The hotel is well placed for central York, with a plethora of pubs and eateries around. The room was cosy, overlooking the river, at an extra cost, which was great really. The usual coffee granule packs (Nescafe) teas (Yorkshire, if course) and a couple of biscuits were on offer in the room. Everything you need for a short break including towels, shampoo, and hairdryer all as standard. The hotel room looked tired though, the room was ok but needed sprucing up, the bed was showing its age, creaking whenever we turned! Breakfast was extra but a really great deal and something I'd highly recommend. Fresh coffee, cereals, continental and English all available through self service. Booking is essential as it always seemed a busy place in a morning. Parking is extra, and needs to be booked, currently £19 a night, which is inline with York prices, though if you arrive by train, it's only a 15 minute walk. Every member of staff was very welcoming, said hello and couldn't be more helpful. All in all, another great visit, lovely staff and a friendly hotel which just needs a bit of love and updating in the bedroom.

Great room with a beautiful view of the river and the city. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was available, but like everywhere in downtown areas, very tight spots. The only issue was there was no access to the parking lot from the inside of the hotel; they have to open the garage door for you, so plan not to have access to your car unless you absolutely need it.
