Nothing in this hotel was adequate and the breakfast was nonexistent! On a positive note the pool and sauna area was ok and the staff tried their best with a situation that was not there doing. We have asked for a refund. Faulty towers comes to mind

Whole building is very tired. Divan bed bases were collapsed, mattress old and kept being woken by rolling on to a pointy mattress spring. Marks on ceiling which looked like mould. Bathroom clean but very basic. Room very hot but could not turn radiator off/down. Large free-opening window on 1st floor which wouldn’t stay open to cool the room. A significant potential hazard for any children. The one redeeming feature was the gym/pool suite with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which was quite pleasant, though again needs cosmetic attention.

I booked the hotel to stay in for 3 nights with my daughter whilst I was playing in the Pickleball English Open in Telford. I always look for a pool and looking at some of the reviews this was a bit of a gamble, however it definitely paid off ! Yes, the hotel is a little dated and could do with some investment, however, it was clean, the suite size was very good and the price was great value. The pool was pretty awesome. It is in a separate wooden building and was really warm, with a jacuzzi. The steam room was out of action, but the sauna wasn't and was also great. We somehow managed to use the pool twice a day, every day. I come to Telford pretty regularly, and this will now be the hotel I will book every time.

They do not provide the facilities they advertise. Why pay high costs for rooms when the dining room is not open and the gym and spa have very limited hours? The manager even sent an email with the times of the spa. But this was inaccurate and meant I turned up just before they were closing. A rip-off when they don't have the facilities they state.

This is our second visit since covid. The place is wonderfully quiet and the pool is good. What lets it down is the hotel and pool area could do with some TLC (and a few quid spending on it). It's a little bit tired & the external appearance shows when you take a closer look. Broken soffits in the newer part and the pool needs to be refurbished before it starts to rot. there was no body wash in the changing rooms and no warning till it was too late. However, there was plenty of tea and coffee and the staff were very friendly.

Leisure facilities excellent -included in the stay. Property in a great location for Telford and Shrewsbury. Room was basic ( 34) bed a bit hard and no hair drier. Service did not bring clean cups in morning after or replenish milk,biscuit. Meal on Monday was fine ( fish and chips a little basic for £18-95!) Bar quite dear. Breakfast was OK.Staffing very light -seemed one person on Monday evening ! Value for Money. Recommend room 35 -bigger and quieter.

First room was dirty, toilet hadn't been cleaned. Remains of last person opening their bowls on inside of toilet. Second room dirty. Bed was uncomfortable, dipped in middle and you could feel the springs. Worst hotel ive ever stayed in.

Having stayed every year for 6 or 7 years at Haughton Hall it has become apparent that hotel needs urgent care . The halways smell musty carpets in bedroom dirty bath taps need sorting and rooms need a good paint. Leisure centre has been painted around pool and tiles replaced but changing rooms need urgent care

This hotel is tired, was dirty in both the bedroom and bathroom. A curtain was torn off the rail and bedding smelt musty. The restaurant was closed and whilst not a major issue as Shifnal has plenty of eateries, after a long day working and travelling, this was not a welcome surprise. The breakfast was adequate if austere - with so few staff they seemed to be struggling. Sadly I will not plan a return visit when next required to overnight in the area.

Room was awful - there was a big hole in the window frame to outside, the windows frames were covered in mold, the window was broken so couldn’t keep it open. The furniture was old, creaky and worn - they’re was damp patches on the walls. They were no bath towels and no breakfast when we went down

The room was very outdated and smelly as if it hadn't been aired in years. The hotel as a whole is very rundown. We were booked to stay for 2 nights in a twin room which was set up more as a double and there was only 1 set of towels.

Very disappointed, will not be stayng again. The hotel is in desperate need of a lot of tlc. Everywhere looked tired & extremely dated. My room (20) the four poster bedroom was very dated, dirty, hadn't been cleaned properly for a long time. Dirty tissues behind the bed, bottle tops on the floor, layer of dust around the skirting boards. No room service, the towels werent replaced, no one attended the room. When i pulled the plug out of the bath the water took ages to drain away, the bathroom and bedroom stank of sewage. The pool again was dirty, the showers didnt work properly and the changong rooms were dark, the light bulbs needed replacing.

Flaking faint on exterior and interior walls. Boarded up windows, signs of damp on bedroom walls. Oh, and I had also found broken glass on my bedroom carpet! Never written a review before, however this time I thought it was necessary….. Grim!

The property is very poorly kept and not in the same condition as in the advert. Paid extra for a garden view instead had a car park and was constantly disturbed during the night with deliveries and staff talking. The mattress sagged in the middle, the pillows were yellow inside with visible dribble marks. The room was very dated and in need of a lot attention. The staff really polite and helpful but We couldn’t wait for our stay to be over

Tired hotel with a faint smell of I don’t know what permeating the whole hotel. Mattress was very cheap and very uncomfortable. Shower head was broken so had to hold shower hose while showering. All in all, not a place I would book in the future.

It is a very old building run by a small number of staff. The whole property is very tired. However bedroom was clean although very old fashion Bed was comfortable Breakfast ok this morning. Not a place that you would rush back to however it was very cheap. As they say you get what you pay for.

Lovely location, great grounds and decent pool. The room was a really good size but similar to other comments, the decor is tired, the beds were uncomfortable and old. Staff were all friendly and helpful when needed and For the money paid I was happy enough, but if you are looking for anything plush, modern or comfortable you may need to look elsewhere.

Bood an executive single room but had a standard double room. Room was very dated and was in the annex. Reception could not find my booking and had to get a manager to sort out. Lights in the corridor were not working. TV signal was poor and couldn't get many channels, could not get ITV, etc. Staff were polite and helpful.

The fitness center and lovely spacious leafy grounds made for a relaxing stay over on a long road trip. The room was too hot but that was due to unusual weather. Staff were kind and helpful.

We had an enjoyable stay. The room.was spacious. Parking was free but you had to enter your Registration on arrival. So many signs about parking restrictions! The staff were very helpful.

Stayed in the annex and internet coverage here very limited. Mobile on 4g most of the time. Fire alarm sounded at 9.30pm. Staff were clueless. No role call taken and little communication. Guests left hanging around waiting for action to be taken. Absolute shambles describes the situation. Didn’t take breakfast as I checked out early but at that time is basically tea and toast anyway. With staying in annex i couldn't get into main building to check out properly, so I had to post key card through letterbox

Normally I like staying at the Haughton Hall. This visit I was given Room 29. Unfortunately this room is starting to look a bit tired. However, the main issue is it seems to be right above the kitchen so gets noisy from before 6:00am. The TV / Sky combo system in the room didn't work to start with also. Evening dining was fully booked on arrival so learn from my mistake and book your evening meal in advance!

The staff are so friendly and nothing is a trouble which was great. The leisure facilities are very handy and the quality of the food was really good. I definitely plan to stay here again. A lovely experience.

Just checked with at 6pm and I asked your admin lady if there was a lift as I have back problem to room 37, she is like ohhh this is stone age hotel you can expect a lift. Then I stay for 2hours room is freezing no heater then I go downstairs to her she is like I will check the boiler if it’s kicked on in the meantime, I ask for another blanket she is like all rooms its one blanket. I go up stairs to wait for boiler nothing I go down stairs and I ask for at least a blanket she is like this is a stone age hotel and we only have 1 blanket and I ask her what must I do in the meantime to warm myself as its a stone age hotel then give me fire wood to go and make fire to warm myself. I thought the breakfast was ending at 10 am and when I arrived at 0930 am the breakfast serving was done but there was a wonderful lady who went an extra mile and asked what I wanted for breakfast and served me thank you as I had a long drive. Now it makes sense a whats app number in reception for bad service and they did not even respond

Just checked with at 6pm and I asked your admin lady if there was a lift as I have back problem to room 37, she is like ohhh this is stone age hotel you can expect a lift. Then I stay for 2hours room is freezing no heater then I go downstairs to her she is like I will check the boiler if it’s kicked on in the meantime, I ask for another blanket she is like all rooms its one blanket. I go up stairs to wait for boiler nothing I go down stairs and I ask for at least a blanket she is like this is a stone age hotel and we only have 1 blanket and I ask her what must I do in the meantime to warm myself as its a stone age hotel then give me fire wood to go and make fire to warm myself. This hotel is tired, was dirty in both the bedroom and bathroom. A curtain was torn off the rail and bedding smelt musty. The restaurant was closed and whilst not a major issue as Shifnal has plenty of eateries, after a long day working and travelling, this was not a welcome surprise. The breakfast was adequate if austere - with so few staff they seemed to be struggling. Sadly I will not plan a return visit when next required to overnight in the area.

Bood an executive single room but had a standard double room. Room was very dated and was in the annex. Reception could not find my booking and had to get a manager to sort out. Lights in the corridor were not working. TV signal was poor and couldn't get many channels, could not get ITV, etc. Staff were polite and helpful.

Stayed in the annex and internet coverage here very limited. Mobile on 4g most of the time. Fire alarm sounded at 9.30pm. Staff were clueless. No role call taken and little communication. Guests left hanging around waiting for action to be taken. Absolute shambles describes the situation. Didn’t take breakfast as I checked out early but at that time is basically tea and toast anyway. With staying in annex i couldn't get into main building to check out properly, so I had to post key card through letterbox

The grounds are stunning, staff so friendly and helpful. The building is a beautiful old building but it does need a bit of a face lift. Our room and bathroom were large and comfortable. Bedding and towels pristine. There was a noise twice a day from the kitchen fan. It didn’t really trouble us as it only lasted a short time. We didn’t use the spa but did visit it. There were no treatments available but the pool area was nice and clean. We would stay again.

The hotel has very beautiful setting with lovely gardens and countryside views. It is dated and tired looking. My room had the sun all day and was so hot during the time I stayed, there were no fans in the room. The beds are comfortable and the staff are really nice and friendly. It was delightful to be able to sit outside in the evening with a drink. The restaurant is OK. The breakfast is nice but the evening menu and food is very average.

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay at Haughton hall, we used the swimming pool which was excellent. We attended a 50th party at the hotel which we also enjoyed. Breakfast was very good and it was only a twenty minute walk into the town which had a good choice of bars and restaurants

Grand old manor house, which makes for a quirky hotel. Clean rooms, great shower, lots of parking... not far from the village of Shifnal, which has an array of restaurants... and extremely convenient for Telford, where we attended a conference. Will be re-booking for next year's event!

We stayed in the Manor in a very quiet part of the building . The room was very spacious and we jad a lovely view of thd garden. The bed was too hard for muself but the linen was crisp fresh. We enjoyed a evenings meal where the service was superb . Breakfast was acceptable and is reflected in the price . Once again service was superb. All the staff we met were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The grounds are amazing and we will definitely be returing just to explore more ! We will also be returning for the Murder Mystery weekends ! Thanks to all that made our stay lovely .

Lovely location, great grounds and decent pool. The room was a really good size but similar to other comments, the decor is tired, the beds were uncomfortable and old. Staff were all friendly and helpful when needed and For the money paid I was happy enough, but if you are looking for anything plush, modern or comfortable you may need to look elsewhere.

Haughton Hall was an old building and I think it has a nice ambience but it is very dated. It could do with a bit of decorating.It doesn't have a lift and wouldn't be suitable for someone with mobility problems. Having said that the bedroom was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was good and powerful. The facilities in the spa and pool were good. The restaurant was again dated but the food was well presented. In my opinion, average and overpriced. The portions were a good size. It was a bit noisy at night during my stay because of other guests in nearby rooms. It is not far from the centre of Shifnal and good location for visiting surrounding area. All in all it's average but I think the facilities make it value for money.

Cheap room but food poor and expensive, Drinks very expensive, hotel is tired and looks uncared for, not welcoming at all. Music in Dining room inappropriate and distorted so very intrusive. Paid for Breakfast but didn't bother.Will not be back.

Booked a deluxe room with garden view and got a room that looked nothing like a deluxe room in the pics and a view of the car park. The chef didn't turn up in the morning so got no breakfast.

We were not very happy with the restaurant. There was no coffee available after our evening meal. We had sticky toffee pudding which was dry ( probably stale) and the ice cream it came with had slivers of ice in indicating it had defrosted and then refrozen At breakfast there was no bacon even though we arrived half an hour before the end of breakfast.

The rate included cooked breakfast. On the morning of the 2nd December no cooked breakfast was provided as the chef had not turned up for work! I was advised that a proportionate refund would be made but none has been forthcoming.

Very basic. You have to get a member of staff every time you want something from the bar or anywhere else. The ‘restaurant’ is advertised as being open 18:30 to 20:30 but no service was given at 20:00 when I ventured down. No hairdryer in the room but they found time to make there was a bible - something I’ve not seen in hotels for years! Cavernous building with lots of steps, doors and windy corridors. Breakfast was alright.

Nice stay. Hotel staff friendly and helpful and rooms are clean and tidy. However, from my expectations the place is looking a little tired and requires an uplift. Continental breakfast included but its only toast and cereals, no fruit and yogurt as advertised. Evening meals are ok but the burger i had on 2nd night tasted like a very low cost meat a supermarket burger on bbq tastes better. However other guests were complimentary about food and the hunters chicken was tasty. No fish choice available though. Gym is quiet and decent as was swimming pool and sauna and steam. Both of those were at a good temperature. Howver no keys for lockers so you have to leave any valuables in your room. I'd definitely stay again if i can get the same offer again. Wouldn't pay the full price and would think twice about eating in unfortunately.

First time staying here great place restaurant not open Sunday evening but didn’t realise. Really helpful staff especially Petra on reception. Breakfast was good. Would stay again

The hall is impressive. The room was good and swimming pool fine and breakfast had a reasonable choice. The downside was that there was no restaurant (or bar snacks) available. You had to give 72 hours notice which didn't work for us, so we went to The Plough in Shifnal instead. Also the tv remote didn't work so I had to download a sky remote to my phone!

This Hotel suits those that like a heritage type place with character but more of a lived in feel . If you like fresh fittings and everything polished it’s not for you . However once you realise that the site photos were taken when it was back in the day and not reflective of today it’s a nice place to be . The receptionists who also help with bar and meal serving were lovely and the breakfast host too. It’s been taken over after previous owners run it down and will take time and money to restore so I would support them to enable that cash to come through . Good gym and great pool etc with friendly staff . Would use again but would not suit my wife .

We stayed one night to break a journey. The staff were very helpful. I enjoyed a good swim in the lovely pool.The breakfast was good. It's a shame that the building is looking somewhat tired but understandable with today's costs.

Lovely staff and a building full of character. The room was clean but sadly there was a hole in the bathroom door ( room 17) It doesn’t affect the stay but cosmetically doesn’t look good. Very comfy bed and the staff couldn't do enough for us especially as we didn’t pre order breakfast but we paid and had breakfast ( which was really good ) with minimal fuss. Continental and full English options which they cook to order Would definitely stay again

Staff were lovely and helpful, as the building has such wonderful high ceilings i felt the cold at the night time so i told reception and bless him within 10 mins he was knocking at my door with a plug in heater for my rroom. The pool was lovely steam room was on point and the jacuzzi was fab. i know they building is old and it is kept beautifully although i really think bathrooms could do with updating and maybe the windows ESPECIALLY for the winter months as i was quite cold and it mild! rooms had new bottled water and milk and teas topped up put in every day new towels also. The only thing that i didnt like was it wasnt able to be my own choice if they come into the room or not, no lock box/safe in room for valuables and i think if there isnt any notice to put on the door to say if you want to have cleaners or privacy i think its somthing that should be considered. Overall i had a lovely few days out the way and some peace. Breakfast a little pricey but room prices were fair. i did leave some belongings in the room and i phoned up they said they were going to get back to me, i know 100% i left few things so hope they get back to me on here now ive messaged.
