Hotel was well looked after,nice grounds & clean,staff friendly & attentive,breakfast was awful,the continental food items were covered in flies,over bowls of fruit,meats,cheese & pastries,we opted for cooked English breakfast but bacon was dry & couldn’t cut ,sausage & egg tasted awful,so we went elsewhere for our breakfast.The Stag just down the road,amazing & freshly cooked,cant believe a 4* Hotel could be this bad,even tea/coffee facilities were difficult & cramped to get to,

Admittedly, we booked late but the website said they had a king size room available. We paid a very top price for it and when we got to our room it had a double bed, a small desk and not much else. No bedside tables and the room was very small. We ate dinner in the restaurant - the staff were lovely and looked after us very well but we had to wait quite a long time for our food to arrive and when it did it was very average.... not worthy of its 4 star rating. Again the staff at breakfast were lovely but the food was again disappointing. Also of note, there was a wedding at the hotel with loud music playing and kids running around the garden which kind of ruined the quiet hotel setting we had looked for. Given the price we paid for our overnight stay we were thoroughly disappointed. It is a stunning looking hotel, the staff were all lovely and having stayed there before we and given the price we were paying , we expected much more.

Nice venue, convenient for our needs. Old building with many small narrow staircases which made access a bit challenging. Pool and spa were nice. Restaurant was okay, but a bit pricey for what it was. But we were a captive audience. Who wanted to go searching for somewhere else to eat?

Overall, our stay was pleasant, but the check-in experience and spa facilities were disappointing. At check-in, we were asked if we had stayed before. When we said no, we were simply handed a room key and told our room number. As the hotel is spread across multiple buildings, we then had to ask where our room was, where the spa and pool were located, and where to find the restaurant. None of this information was offered proactively. The room key card included a QR code, which we assumed would provide useful guest information such as Wi-Fi details, room service menus, or hotel facilities. Instead, it linked to the Marriott app, which contained very little useful information. We couldn’t find room service information in the app, on the website, or in the room. When I asked reception, I was told it was available on the TV. After trying unsuccessfully to find it there, I called reception and a paper menu was eventually brought to the room. By then, we had already decided to eat elsewhere. The spa facilities were also disappointing for a hotel of this size. The dry sauna seats only three to four people and the steam room around four. In addition, many of the loungers around the pool appeared poorly maintained, with the fabric covers heavily stained and blackened in places, which looked unhygienic. The hotel has potential, but better communication, clearer guest information, and improved maintenance of the spa area would significantly improve the experience.

Absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous hotel. Sitting in the garden was so good for the soul ... so tranquil and perfect. The rooms were so beautiful. My bed was HUGE and the bathroom was so clean it was SPARKLING. I also loved the pool and the Spa staff were so helpful. Highly recommend a stay here and I will definitely be coming back.
