The hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel at home and very welcome. The hotel was lovely, quiet, with proper fires and excellent Chesterfields to relax and chat on. The selection at the small bar was very good, I enjoy a good whisky when relaxing and they had a good selection. Our room was a good size, just right for us, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm. It had all of the usuals expected, tea coffee etc. the dinning room was also lovely, the food was excellent, perfectly cooked and prepared plus a nice wine selection too which suited us.

The hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel at home and very welcome. The hotel was lovely, quiet, with proper fires and excellent Chesterfields to relax and chat on. The selection at the small bar was very good, I enjoy a good whisky when relaxing and they had a good selection. Our room was a good size, just right for us, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm. It had all of the usuals expected, tea coffee etc. the dinning room was also lovely, the food was excellent, perfectly cooked and prepared plus a nice wine selection too which suited us.

It's a beautiful, quiet place in the country with wonderful, caring staff. Elly, Alex, and Ivan were great. Our kids loved that they could spend a night in a castle. We also took a lovely walk on the grounds.

Just had a wonderful stay at The Otterburn Castle Country House Hotel. Lovely grounds and despite it only being 9th Feb the woodlands and grounds were overed in snowdrops indicating Spring is not far away. At this time of year we stayed ahead of season and there were not too many people here. There is a small bar area and a lovely old world lounge where we sat before and after our evening meal with a few glasses of wine in front of a log fire. The hotel only has about 17 rooms so you are never going to feel overwhelmed, our room was a select room with four poster bed. Lovely and clean. We just stayed the one Saturday night but we had heard that the food was very good and it did not disappoint. Both our starters and main courses were excellent. My wife paid a small supplement to have the steak and she insists it is one of the best she has had. I had the Burger and it really was excellent and again one of the best I have had. The chips were of the 3 times cooked really brown type - gorgeous - and I should also mention the onion rings that were real onion and not mush. The main meals really were very good indeed. Breakfast was also fantastic. Really nice Bacon and the Sausages were quality. The Hash Browns were to die for the best I have tasted, really crunchy and the Mushrooms melted in the mouth - a fantastic breakfast. This is a family run hotel and the staff fell over themselves to make our stay memorable. We had a totally fantastic meal and stay.

We enjoyed a lovely one-night stay in Otterburn after a day viewing the Roman Army Museum and Hadrian’s Wall nearby. The service at the hotel was exceptional, the room was spacious, and the charm of this historic house was evident throughout. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing stay in every way. The staff were all so friendly - Elena was so kind and helpful when checking us in & out, Alex was an amazing server at dinner and was also very polite, and also a thank you to Ivan and Debbie for serving great drinks and making up our room so well. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return as soon as we can. The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the front gardens, and the castle overall is simply beautiful and in a very peaceful, quiet location. Really romantic. 10/10, definitely recommend.

Property was lovely….well maintained….very warm welcome by the owner and her son….lovely ambiance in the hotel…..excellent service and food….spotless…..no negative comments to make…..we would recommend it as a destination for touring the area…..good distance from lots of tourist attractions…..

A joy to stay with Elena and her team. A cosy property with more of a guest house vibe than a full-service hotel experience - but all the more enjoyable for that. The castle has a great gastro-pub just a 3-minute walk away in the village. Lovely cooked breakfast in the hotel, Ideal for a short stopover or to explore the area. Perfectly quiet and easily accessible by car or taxi from Newcastle airport. If you want to escape the formality of modern travel and. slow down a bit... Otterburn Castle.

The state of the bathroom was very disappointing, it was very dated with a loose tap on the sink with slow intermittent flow of cold and hot water. In the shower, the rising rail was loose with the shower flex very dirty in places, grime around the bath and sink. The shower pressure water was but a trickle, thankfully it lasted for us to get washed.. Downstairs and all the rooms were lovely, but let down very badly by of the bathroom.....Sorry too expensive for what you get in return.....................

Lovely owners who couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. Food was delicious and chef had no issues accommodating dietary requirements which was appreciated. Room was lovely, clean and spacious. Lots to do in local area. Overall would recommend and would definitely stay again!!

A very friendly staff, in a historic and impressive property in beautiful grounds. Unfortunately, we encountered lots of maintenance issues: leaky and noisy taps in an old fashioned bathroom, lumpy mattress and old pillows, small temperamental television. Charming old furniture, but not very comfortable… a shame, as this hotel has the potential to be truly unique..at the moment though, definitely NOT a 4 star rating…

We had a wonderful stay and the evening meal was excellent - highly recommended and very good value. Breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge and bar and service was friendly and very good, the staff are all great and very welcoming. The grounds are pretty and the room was very good size and bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend a stay here.

Friendly staff with warm welcome. Everything you would want and expect from a stay at a castle. Breakfast was delightful with excellent service. Room was large and comfortable. We enjoyed the interaction with the 2 cats who also call Otterburn Castle their home.

The staff were all so friendly - Elena was so kind and helpful when checking us in & out, Alex was an amazing server at dinner and was also very polite, and also a thank you to Ivan and Debbie for serving great drinks and making up our room so well. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return as soon as we can. The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the front gardens, and the castle overall is simply beautiful and in a very peaceful, quiet location. Really romantic. 10/10, definitely recommend.

A very friendly staff, in a historic and impressive property in beautiful grounds. Unfortunately, we encountered lots of maintenance issues: leaky and noisy taps in an old fashioned bathroom, lumpy mattress and old pillows, small temperamental television. Charming old furniture, but not very comfortable… a shame, as this hotel has the potential to be truly unique..at the moment though, definitely NOT a 4 star rating…

An old castle in England, what more do you want. The staff were very attentive and very pleasant. Even with a fire alarm in the middle of the night (false alarm) they were pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing both for dinner and for breakfast.

Absolute joy staying here! Who wouldn’t want to stay in a castle? But this castle has the best service I’ve had from any hotel. Just has such a wonderfully warm feel around the place and the family are so friendly and attentive!

The hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel at home and very welcome. The hotel was lovely, quiet, with proper fires and excellent Chesterfields to relax and chat on. The selection at the small bar was very good, I enjoy a good whisky when relaxing and they had a good selection. Our room was a good size, just right for us, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm. It had all of the usuals expected, tea coffee etc. the dinning room was also lovely, the food was excellent, perfectly cooked and prepared plus a nice wine selection too which suited us.

We had a wonderful stay and the evening meal was excellent - highly recommended and very good value. Breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge and bar and service was friendly and very good, the staff are all great and very welcoming. The grounds are pretty and the room was very good size and bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend a stay here.

Staff were incredibly welcoming and after a long day driving it felt like being welcomed home. Dinner was excellent and the whole property had real character but it was the staff that made it extra special. Would highly recommend

It's a beautiful, quiet place in the country with wonderful, caring staff. Elly, Alex, and Ivan were great. Our kids loved that they could spend a night in a castle. We also took a lovely walk on the grounds.

Just had a wonderful stay at The Otterburn Castle Country House Hotel. Lovely grounds and despite it only being 9th Feb the woodlands and grounds were overed in snowdrops indicating Spring is not far away. At this time of year we stayed ahead of season and there were not too many people here. There is a small bar area and a lovely old world lounge where we sat before and after our evening meal with a few glasses of wine in front of a log fire. The hotel only has about 17 rooms so you are never going to feel overwhelmed, our room was a select room with four poster bed. Lovely and clean. We just stayed the one Saturday night but we had heard that the food was very good and it did not disappoint. Both our starters and main courses were excellent. My wife paid a small supplement to have the steak and she insists it is one of the best she has had. I had the Burger and it really was excellent and again one of the best I have had. The chips were of the 3 times cooked really brown type - gorgeous - and I should also mention the onion rings that were real onion and not mush. The main meals really were very good indeed. Breakfast was also fantastic. Really nice Bacon and the Sausages were quality. The Hash Browns were to die for the best I have tasted, really crunchy and the Mushrooms melted in the mouth - a fantastic breakfast. This is a family run hotel and the staff fell over themselves to make our stay memorable. We had a totally fantastic meal and stay.

Lovely owners who couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. Food was delicious and chef had no issues accommodating dietary requirements which was appreciated. Room was lovely, clean and spacious. Lots to do in local area. Overall would recommend and would definitely stay again!!

We enjoyed a lovely one-night stay in Otterburn after a day viewing the Roman Army Museum and Hadrian’s Wall nearby. The service at the hotel was exceptional, the room was spacious, and the charm of this historic house was evident throughout. Highly recommend!

A joy to stay with Elena and her team. A cosy property with more of a guest house vibe than a full-service hotel experience - but all the more enjoyable for that. The castle has a great gastro-pub just a 3-minute walk away in the village. Lovely cooked breakfast in the hotel, Ideal for a short stopover or to explore the area. Perfectly quiet and easily accessible by car or taxi from Newcastle airport. If you want to escape the formality of modern travel and. slow down a bit... Otterburn Castle.

The service throughout was excellent, for a family concern managing such a large estate is truly commendable!! The food was M/Star standard, I would highly recommend eating in the restaurant, it was delicious. I will be going back, it is worth staying there for the experience alone!! Many thanks to the staff - excellent service.

The property itself is beautiful, but inside, the decor is very dated, and the windows in the bedroom needed urgent attention regarding rot. The bed was very comfortable, and the towels were lovely and fluffy. Plenty of hot water too. The main issue was the cold. The room was very cold and despite altering the radiator thermostat, there was no heat whatsoever from them. Breakfast was ok, though not outstanding. Overall, for £150 a night, I doubt I would stay again.
