Sweeney Hall Hotel

When arriving hotel was packed and no where to park so had to park around the back when a car left the car park Arrived at 2.15 pm only to be told it’s a 3pm check in I told them on my itenery it says 2.00pm check in

Spacious room, great view of parkland. Large wardrobe/many hangers. Comfortable king-size bed but little on hard side. Two comfortable armchairs, quality cushions/bed pillows.TV small and didn't work (?) - poor signal or connection. Smart TV expected for price of 'premium room'. Ensuite bathroom good size, shower poor - little power from hand held showerhead, long wait for hot water. Sealant/seal on shower panel needs replacing in parts.. No receptacle for toothpaste/toothbrushes. Dining room/bar area pleasant. Evening menu varied and reasonably priced. Service and food were very good- starters and mains piping hot. Breakfast very good. Stay marred and very much spoilt by following. Check-in 2.00 pm, checked in 3.00 pm. Went to Room 4, chosen by Kim to celebrate 65th birthday. Booked indirectly, after viewing hotel 'site' - 'perfect ....for a romantic stay' (quote). Walked to first floor room, passing function' in room adjoining ours. Noise of the function, described by management (2 men) as afternoon tea, was a Baby Shower. Non-stop noise - shrieking loud young women, party poppers bursting balloons which went on for three hours. No chance of relaxing or staying in room despite Manager, Alex, saying ends in hour or two. No sympathy - go sit in restaurant, have a free drink, change rooms, leave but little or no empathy; excuse - Jan, do you expect us not to take advantage. Excuses of Alex, made Alan lose temper; we went from Bar to Foyer where row with other Manager.

Loved our stay. Super friendly staff. Nice meal and decent brekky. Nice outdoor areas to chill.

Loads of parking and a lovely welcome when I arrived at the hotel. Nice atmos in the bar and at breakfast and very friendly staff. I would stay again

The location and peace of the area. The charm of the building and the welcoming feeling. Ease of booking . Sorry we couldnt stay longer.

Lovely hotel with interesting history, set in lovely grounds. We took our little dog and he felt most welcome and even got a doggy gift box. The food was excellent both dinner and breakfast. I always tell how good the chef is by the scrambled egg and it was 1st Class. Spotless bedroom and facilities, lovely little bar and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely make a return trip. Thank you for making our stay so special.

A grand country house in surrounded by parkaldn and fields. Spacious rooms with large windows. Modern en-suite. Comforatble bed. Excellent breakfast.choices including full English, or Poached Egg and Avocado, or Egg/smoked salmon. Nice areas outside to sit out in warm weather, but it was raining when I was there.

Sweeney Hall is an old, large farm manor/estate. Staff were very accommodating of our delayed arrival. Service had a couple of rough spots (ran out of a couple of menu items). Room was large & delightful. Grounds were wonderful.

Peaceful location with easy access to the main road. Dog friendly. Nicely maintained grounds with lots of seating. Our third visit and never disappoints.

Great hotel in lovely setting. Staff very friendly. Breakfast and evening meal were very good..as was the beer and wine. delicious homemade biscuits on arrival in room. If we were to be very picky the bathroom was a little tired ( although towels were lovely) considering our bedroom was so nice. We also found it a little difficult to get through on the telephone but appreciate this was a Saturday afternoon and so it may have been busy. We would recommend a stay.

My one night stay was first and foremost good value for money. The other thing that stood out is this is an old property with old features, such as my bathroom door (possibly original), but with things like the bathroom having received a major facelift in the last few years. It is neither high end nor run down; it sits comfortably and quite attractively in its own image. I had a very comfortable night’s sleep in a quiet, clean and well provisioned bedroom. The modern bathroom had an excellent shower. The breakfast menu is a good mix of hot and cold but the cooked breakfast was pre cooked and warmed up and the toast was barely toasted. I would certainly stay again but would be more fussy about my cooked breakfast.

This is a converted country house with pleasant surroundings. Reception took a whike to appear on check in room good size but bathroom not clean (old toothpaste marks on basin surround, dirty windows). Not especially comfortable bed for all tastes. No shaving mirror or tissues. Food adequate though breakfast service haphazard and quality inconsistent. A bit disappointing and somewhat faded overall given the price point of accommodation.

Looks good until you get up close, needs updating, electric shower was woeful no pressure, One very small shower gel for 2?

It was a pleasant stay and plenty of room and good meal. Sadly our shower was poor .

This was a convenient hotel for a nearby wedding and was OK but nothing special. Tired feel to the place, wifi not working, doors slamming, keys to open doors not easy to use. I would expect the price to be maybe a third cheaper than it is for what you get.

Great Stay would of been better if the shower was working!

Difficult one to award stars. The hotel itself, appearance and setting is fantastic. The service and quality of food was exceptional as was the value for money. The one thing that was a huge disappointment was the room. We stayed in room 12. The bed, I think, was installed when the hotel was built, it was so uncomfortable that neither of us slept for more than a couple of hours. Every time any water was used, sink, shower or WC a motor kicked in presumably part of the sewage system. The noise was, to say the least annoying and added to the lack of sleep. Due to the strange layout of the bathroom, access to the window for cleaning is very restrictive and therefore difficult if not impossible to clean. Obviously my review is only for room 12 and had it not been for this I would easily have awarded a 5 star review. I would highly recommend this hotel but ask for a different room

I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough, Shaun and his team at The Sweeney Hall Hotel are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are beautiful, the food is delicious and the service and ambiance is 5 star. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay. Don’t hesitate staying at the sweeney, such a beautiful setting, gorgeous comfy rooms, attentive staff and delicious food. Love coming back here, relaxed atmosphere, lovely homely rooms and great food. Staff always helpful and appear very happy in their jobs, always a good sign of a happy ship!

Dining was good, staff excellent. Not enough plug sockets in the room.

Booked last minute and was very happy with my choice. The staff are welcoming and helpful, the room was lovely and I needed for nothing. Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
