Nova Hotel JFK

I had to get a hotel last minute and the deal was too good to pass up through Expedia. When I arrived, the front desk told me my check in time was THE NEXT DAY. I showed him my Expedia itinerary and he still tried to say he had nothing available. I was calm, but I was direct, and he magically found me a room. He did allow me to check in early which was nice....because there was NO LOBBY and none of the nearby places had spots for charging your phone and they were terrifying and unsafe and scary. There was lots of trash and needle outside of the hotel which raised concerns. The beds had beg bug protective covers, but I still sprayed my bed bug repellent because I was worried. Kept all my bags up too, did not see any bed bugs, thank God. There was no hot water either and the Internet was down the whole time I was there. Good thing I had my hot spot on my phone. Oh, and the towels they had, left a white residue of fabric all over me. taking a cold shower sucked by wiping off and having all the towel fabric stuck all over me was a disaster. It was in my hair and beard too. The hot water that did not work, when I would turn it on, the water would come out brown. Truly, I was horrified and so ready to leave. The hotel has different hotel names on signs inside and outside of the hotel. It was misleading, confusing and really terrifying. This was my first trip to NYC and I suggest never staying at this hotel ever. I will be making complaints and getting a refund for everything.

Hotel was not finished still under construction. No hot water. Difficult access getting into the hotel because workers refuse to move. No chair in the room. Very clean, good location.

The hotel was clean enough the set up for the shower isnt great for families as the shower is open to the main room area. 1st room we checked into had an overflowed toilet that didnt work the staff did get us a new clean room right away and apologized. There is NO PARKING at this hotel. I felt lied to as the original listing even showed a photo of parking. Off street parking is available close by but its not easy to get a spot. Out of 5 id give it a solid 3 only because the staff was friendly and the 2nd room was ok. The water temp is set to warm, the thermostat cannot be accessed we opened the windows in the room because it was uncomfortably warm. Theres only 2 beds in the room no dressers, fridge, or tables. One small trash can in the toilet area.

No hot water

Do not stay at this hotel. First, there is no parking. You have to hope you can get street parking, and you'll have a hard time getting any within 2 blocks of the hotel. I got lucky since I arrived late on a Saturday night and left on a Sunday, when there are no parking restrictions in New York City, I have heard. Second, there was no hot water. Whoever was at the front desk didn't seem to think this was urgent. I got a Dunkin Donuts gift card when I complained (which I may not even be able to use since it may be just for a specific location near the hotel). Third, people at a nearby room played loud music till 5:40 a.m. and then resumed the loud music at 9:30 a.m. I asked the front desk to tell the people playing the music to stop about 5 times and the front desk did not. Fourth, someone from the hotel just tried entering my room without knocking. Fifth, the rooms have no tables (other than tiny nightstands) or chairs. I want my money back.

Everything is brand new therefore, things were in good condition. Staff are courteous, and friendly. The room needs to have a small refrigerator, a chair, and extra nightstand or a table to place things on. The sink area needs to have an outlet installed to plug stuff in. There is no control to regulate the heat/AC.

There was no hot water. The area was noisy, the staff was really good and welcomy

No parking space

Place was clean but very sparse. No phone in room. Bare essentials. The staff were friendly but talked to each other throughout my check in, which was after midnight so I was a bit tired and just wanting my key. Coffee provided in lobby. They did allow me an extra hour for checkout. Not the best area, but typical for queens

Not a great part of town. No furniture other than a one foot square table in the entire room No refrigerator no microwave, no coffee pot. No telephone. There was no lobby, just a desk for check-in People talking until one thirty in the morning radio playing all night long No carpets, no sound deadening, on walls. Ceilings or floors. Great beds clean room Shower was in the main room, no dressing area other than the main room. Toilet room did have a door! Bathroom sink on the wall in the main room.

Wi-Fi worked, but the room was tiny with almost no space to move around. It didn’t feel clean, and the staff weren’t very helpful. Definitely not worth the price.

Clean room, friendly staff

The room I was in was clean. I hope I wasn't the only one who enjoyed such a clean room. It looked brand new thank you housekeeping and staff excellent work ethic.

Second, there was residue of like a syrup or a sauce on the remote for the tv. Plus, the tv took 10+ seconds to register 1 action, forget about scrolling through the tv channels. It would take forever to be able to move more than 2 channels. Third, the heat was blasting in my room (above 80) when I returned from my outing. It was cold the night before and in the morning and I never touched the thermostat. It could’ve been set that way by another guest but it was also making this clicking noise. Lastly, I found rose petals under the bed when I was packing up to leave and checking to make sure i didn’t drop anything. Definitely makes me question if my bed was cleaned and what was on the remote.

The room smelled of smoke, sheets, towels and wash rags were dirty. Staff didn’t communicate with one another for a late checkout and the staff was giving attitude after being told that I had late check out. The pictures posted on the website makes the hotel like classy; which is far from that- it’s a quick stay hotel WHICH I would never stay willingly.

Never be swayed by bad reviews; everyone should have their own experience. I had an absolutely incredible time at Los Personales with my family. From the very beginning, the service at the front desk was amazing. The room was huge with great views, smelled wonderful, and the bed was fantastic. The place is new and comfortable, and it's only a 9-minute walk from the 169th Street Jamaica train station. Plus, you can't hear a thing in the hallways, let alone from outside.

Room is big. But still needed to improve there room. No chair, No table, No phone, and TV is to high.

Noisy! Could not adjust room temp; otherwise, very clean. The bathroom sink is in the bedroom. There is no door to the shower. The shower stall is in the entryway with a plastic shower curtain.

Room was very clean and compact. Close to the airport. But room and water was too cold. Had to call over hotel worker to adjust the heat for the room.

Room was tremendous, way bigger than the deluxe studio suites that alot of other hotels are offering..I been to a lot of hotels and the suite is where I try to stay. I'm platinum on hotels.com with 48 trip elements with 3 pending.

Went to check in there were homeless people in and out the hotel doing drugs I felt so unsafe and while I was checking in I decide I didn’t wanna stay I ask the front that I wanted to cancel they said I wouldn’t be charged so I left and they charged me any way now I’m having such a problem getting a refund I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone

Very clean room, staff was ok but hotel is understaffed as one night I came to the door and the one front desk agent was not there so I was locked outside til he returned. Lots of shopping nearby though .

they respond my complain really quick it was nice hotel essential all provided also i like that 24hrs deli is 3minutes away from the hotel definetely book next visit

Seems like it’s a new hotel from all the people on site working and training. Very friendly staff, I booked a king bed accidentally with my co worker and they were able to accommodate me with a double bed! Very large rooms, quiet, and clean. It was right next to Jamaica station so the ride into the city was quite easy. A lot of corner stores with great meal choices etc. Would def come back with the proximity from JFK airport and easy commute to the city along with the hospitality service given. Sam was great at the front desk!

I have more of a suggestion as opposed to a full on review .I stayed at this hotel Friday October 31st and I will say that the staff working the front desk needs to work on their hospitality and greetings better when guests are checking in . Secondly the fire alarm went off Saturday morning and there were no phones in the rooms and that shouldn’t be in case of an emergency in which it seems like it was .The other guests staying in the hotel were lost trying to figure out what happened and everyone had no idea as to what was going on .As staff ,you are supposed to calm and alert the guests staying at the facility and there needs to be phones in the rooms to page and call each room so everyone can fully evacuate the premises if need be .The hotel itself was clean but everything else needs to be worked on .There also should be an intercom stating for guests to properly evacuate .

And I’m not sure how the heating and cooling works but it doesn’t seem like you’d have access to change it. So at times I was cold in the room. Also since everything is new, the towels leave a lot of lint on your skin. However, they were kind enough to personally provide washed towels when I asked and replace my keycard when it randomly stopped working. The staff are very very nice and accommodating, I definitely would return especially since they should’ve overcome these small kinks as a new hotel within a few weeks. Recommended for a budget hotel with excellent transit and lots of shopping and food near by. Wouldn’t say the neighborhood is safe after dark though. Lots of men hang around outside the entrance.

Room and sheets very clean. It was a $50 taxi from airport. So there and back as more expensive that the nights stay. Not a nice area of Queens if you are white. I was advised to not leave the hotel.

Bad side of town

Clean property, only needed to overnight. Comfy bed, amenities available. If i had to overnight again...yes. Uber had problems dropping me off and picking me up despite putting in the exact location!

I arrived and was not told that there was no heat or hot water and room had a sticky floor with an ironing board still closed in package. My ID was taken and never returned until the next morning when I came down to complain. The front desk guy for morning is great and tried to help and did but room is cozy and maybe if things were normal it would’ve been fine. There’s no chairs in room and no water available to drink anywhere on the floor or in your room.
