The hotel is quite rundown, with old, squeaky floorboards in the room. The elevator was out of order during my stay, and the window in my room wouldn't open. The bathroom fan didn't work either. If you're looking for a quick stop, you'd be better off driving to your next destination for more lodging options. Additionally, there is no designated parking, only a gravel and dirt lot.

Beautiful location. Parking situation could be improved as there are no marked parking spots. The food was good at the restaurant, but we had to wait quite a while for it. They did offer a complimentary drink due to our wait. The room was quaint with a lovely view. The shower was small but ok except that the drain was very slow. The hand soap, shampoo, and body wash provided had a strong scent so those who are sensitive may wish to bring their own.

We were looking forward to this stay but it didn’t live up to expectation. A beautiful setting and sitting to have drinks in the bar overlooking the seals was idyllic. Cons were: Limited evening food menu, not everyone wants to sit and eat a fine dining meal with only 4 mains options, no flexibility to order from the more relaxed lunch me menu. Reception staff not the most welcoming, polite enough, but a bit abrupt. Loft room a bit tired. Probs Great location Bar area very nice and relaxed with large selection of drinks Bar staff friendly

There were so many special details within the property. beautiful bar area with gorgeous views. The room was clean. We could not open the window so the room was hot. We were supposed to have a partial ocean view but we had a view of the scaffolding from construction. Staff was very friendly. Food was delicious.

Definitely a true gem and we highly recommend staying at Budir if you plan to visit Snæfellsnes. The location is just perfect and the hotel is really special with a lovely bar and cozy sitting area. The room was also super cozy, clean and modern and we really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely book it again.

Fabulous old style hotel with up to date rooms and bathrooms. Excellent service. Congenial, cosy, lounges. Lovely walking area

This property is amazing, hands down our favorite hotel of the trip. The restaurant was not only delicious but so kindly accommodating of allergies - be sure to give them at least a day's notice though. All the public spaces are so cozy and welcoming. Our third floor room did get a bit stuffy in unseasonably warm weather, with one window that didn't open much, but they allowed us to move to a room with much more airflow. A minor complaint in an otherwise perfect stay. We not only would come back, but will make the effort to come back and stay here again.

Luxury hotel in a great location, easy parking, breakfast is not included but on site restaurant offers a really good breakfast. We ald had dinner here after a long drive, very nice and fine cooking. Location is great for photographs as it is far away from everything.

Check in was very easy . It took perhaps 2 minutes! The receptionist was knowledgeable and appeared to be able to speak several languages. There is a beautiful view from the sitting areas near the bar. We took advantage of this and had some wine and enjoyed the view of the ocean, seals, mountains and waterfalls. The room was spacious. Bathroom was clean. The electrical outlets were a little difficult to get at. One outlet was located near the desk next to the windows, and I used this outlet to charge all my devices. I did not see any USB outlets so you will need to bring the appropriate chargers and cables for your devices. Some of the baseboard was missing, but this certainly was not a deal breaker. Definitely a romantic air to this hotel and surrounding countryside. Staff are wonderful, and appear to have varying backgrounds. It's a nice international flavor. The wifi is pretty decent. I did hear one guest complain about the reception. I did measure their wifi reception as follows: Upload and download 45 MBPS in my room and in lobby and bar. It dropped to 5 MBPS in the first floor dining room. I still had decent reception about 10 feet outside the front entrance. I think the advantage of this hotel is that it places you nearer to the National Park and surrounding areas. If you were to drive from Reykjavik and explore the area as a one day trip you wouldn't be able to enjoy the area and would be pressed for time.

We had the superior room and it was worth the price. Beautiful interior, comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. At the lobby is a great fireplace to stay a while in front of it. Tasty food and good selection of wine in the restaurant. If you are around, stay in this cozy hotel, you will not regret it for sure!

Hotel Budir looked like the perfect spot to spend the last two days of our Iceland vacation. The lobby and lounge areas are very attractive, and the dining was very good. Our room, though, was a true disappointment, and the price we paid was absurd for such poor lodgings. Every light fixture in the room had some kind of problem - one had exposed wires, one had a discolored lampshade, and one had a pull chain that was previously repaired but still didn't work. The bathroom door was made of cheap particle board, was missing a handle, and had a huge chunk torn off at the bottom. The bathtub was designed in such a way that you only had about 1.5 square feet to stand in - the smallest of any hotel I stayed at in Iceland. The sink was similarly tiny, and you had to stand sideways between the sink and the toilet to be able wash your face or brush your teeth without hitting your head on the glass shelf placed immediately above it. The worst part was the window, which leaked very badly. There were strong winds when we stayed there, and we could hear/feel the wind whistling into the room. Our heater was broken and only put out a tiny amount of heat, so the room was extremely cold for both nights. Additionally, you had to cross a rooftop area in gale force winds and snow to access rooms 301-305. Did it ruin our trip? No. But it was more akin to a cheap roadside motel than a $250/night room. It was both the most expensive and worst room we had on our 16-day vacation. Very disappointed.

Beautiful location. Walked to the beach twice and it’s super close, convenient and it was empty both times. Room and hotel is very new and nice. Our bathroom shower floor was crackers/chipped and should have been repaired but other than that hotel and restaurant are excellent.

The cleanliness of the room and hotel were very good. Unfortunately, the front desk employee at check in was rude and condescending and not helpful at all. The only food options were from the restaurant menu and very limited. I would suggest having a full meal elsewhere before arriving here.

This property is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It is located in a majestic setting with many open common spaces on the ground floor to sit and read or have a drink with floor to ceiling windows and glacier topped mountains and lava fields as your background. BUT the room (loft room) needs updating. Bathroom poorly designed. And the room and bedding smelled very musty. There is a skylight but no window to open and air it out. The dinner option is very expensive with very small portions. The breakfast on the other hand was amazing - best I had in Iceland.

I think this hotel is massively overrated. The food was average, and breakfast was low end and very expensive. The immediate grounds around the hotel are shabby and in disrepair. Our “superior” room lokked out over the trash dumpster and construction garbage. Active hammering and sawing woke us up at 7 am. I would never stay there again.

We stayed in the newer wing of the hotel which was very lovely. The rooms were spacious and the interior was very modern. The hotels restaurant also served delicious food though there are not many other options near by. I woild stay here again.

This is a beautiful getaway hotel removed from everything else — tucked away in a remote little piece of Iceland where you can wake up to birds singing and the sound of crashing water. Everything has clearly been recently renovated: the beautiful rainfall showers, huge LED-lit mirrors, comfortable beds, balconies, bar and lounge areas, etc. The staff are wonderful, too — as is the breakfast. Down side is that this is remote indeed, so your only walkable eating option is their restaurant — and it’s just not good for dinner. We asked our server what she recommended, and she said the veggie dishes because she’s a vegetarian. Ok cool… maybe that WAS the right choice, because we paid $50-60 each for 2 tiny pieces of lamb, an overdone super-thin piece of “medium-rare ribeye,” and a dry piece of cod. We paid less than that for better food in Reykjavik, so it’s not just sticker shock in Iceland.

This was a lovely hotel- very expensive- however: One of our 4 rooms was a studio with a ridiculously small shower that was smaller than a cruise ship shower and upon checking out we realized the bill was wrong- they said there was a happy hour but when we checked out the prices weren’t 40% off after all. No apology or “how can make that right for you?” Or let us deduct the first few drinks or anything to make up for the errors. Toilet paper was rough and the toilets/showers on the floors above flushed right near our heads and were loud. Certainly not $500 a night caliber in our minds.

We were greeted so warmly by reception, learned about local liquors and cocktails from the bar staff and had an absolutely delicious dinner with incredible service. We were treated like special guests. The view was spectacular and the room exceedingly comfortable.

The views around the property are amazingly beautiful! The restaurant is outstanding. Our room’s shower was really weird, it had an odd ledge that caused difficulty in showering. Also, we had to go through several doors and a corridor to get to our room. This was tricky with luggage.

Every one of the staff members from reception to the bartenders, to the chef were kind and drinks and food were nothing short of 5 star. The outside was just majestic with views of the sea and mountains. We only stayed here 2 nights, celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. But my husband kept saying how perfect everything was and I couldn’t have agreed more! We can’t see us returning to Iceland and not coming back to hotel Budir.

Beautiful property and area! We laid on the beach beyond the church and watched the northern lights dance! The seals were in the bay playing in the morning and the sheep came through the land as well. Gorgeous area and very peaceful

Everything was super luxurious and comfortable. We were able to see the northern lights on the night of our stay and it was spectacular, especially because there’s no light pollution here. If you’re exploring the Snæfellsnes peninsula, this is a great stop.

A touch of luxury in an out-of-the-way location. Very quiet and peaceful, with views to the ocean and the tiny church. Dinner was delicious and breakfast very satisfying (although a bit expensive).

Many thanks for another wonderful stay at Hotel Buðir. Best location on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, spectacular views in every direction. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed with amazing views from every window. Either you're facing the mountains or the sea, or both. Best part - Hotel Buðir has the best bed linen and pillows of any hotel I've visited to date. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They went out of their way to ensure I had the best possible experience. Most importantly, the restaurant. The restaurant at Hotel Buðir is legendary for good reason. The menu showcases seasonal Icelandic cuisine, it is paired fown to the essentials. They offer both à la carte, and tasting menu (3 or 5 course). IMHO, the cuisine at Buðir is on par with any Michelin starred restaurant. The dinning room service is efficient, attentive and well informed. Don't miss the breakfast buffet, well curated- nobody goes hungry. Looking forward to my next adventure at Hotel Buðir.

This place was so cute. Beautiful location on the water and right next to the black church and windy beach. Delicious food and friendly helpful waitstaff. One of our favorite stays.

Beautiful location — the room accommodations were excellent... and we saw the Northern Lights!

While the site, scenery and quiet are pluses this is NOT a resort or luxury hotel. If you want peace and quiet, walking paths and spectacular scenery in a beautiful area of Iceland and don’t mind having only one option for dining, small weirdly appointed rooms, a closet sized bathroom and no hot tub, sauna or other facilities you might be ok. Very expensive dinner which was only ok (over cooked filounder was the low point of a small manu. A final negative was a $35 charge for a marginal buffet breakfast. A big disappointment dying an otherwise amazing 10 day trip in Iceland.

Expensive and they charge a lot for breakfast. Unfortunate as there is no other option. But, the hotel is great and the food (esp dinner) was excellent. 2nd time staying here.
