Wow , our two week stay at the Kahala hotel was one we will always cherish. The hotel is immaculate and gorgeous. The chandeliers in the lobby look like they are made from beautiful sea glass , and every plant inside and outside is lush and maintained . The staff is so kind and welcoming . Shoutout to Randy the server from Plumeria and Carolynn from the front desk! Located on a private beach you can walk all the way down and find sea shells , we even saw a turtle and a monk seal! The pool and hot tub is 24 hours so definitely take advantage. I recommend renting a car if you want to go to other beaches such as Waikīkī (10-15 min easy drive) , and the valet at Kahala is helpful and efficient . We had no issues . Overall I would come back to Kahala hotel and resort again.

The only downside to this hotel is the distance from Waikiki and that’s not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you want. The staff here is very nice. The rooms are clean and spacious. Bathroom has a bidet. Tub could be bigger to fit two people easier but still bigger than most. Room was very quiet all day. Tons of things to do at hotel as well as places to eat. 24/7 pool and hot tub! Great place to be if you want to get away and relax.

There was an exorbitant $55 a day charge simply to park in the garage, as well as a $10 fee for room service. Tip was already added on the room service ticket, unbeknownst to my husband, who ended up double tipping. Felt very nickel and dimed.

This is a great hotel. But it was very sad to see the dolphins in a tiny pool. Spending their whole lives swimming in circles and posing for photos with tourists. Inhumane and unnecessary.

Beautiful hotel and quiet location, restaurants were all amazing and a special mention to Les at verandah and Hannah at arrancino,, from the moment you walk in and take in the ambience and smell is beautiful. Inky disappointing thing was carpet in our room was rather dirty and there is not enough shade around pool or beach areas, could not use umbrellas for days due to wind and ended up getting burnt which was disappointing.

This resort can easily be the most incredible vacation destination on Oahu. The staff is amazing, friendly and accommodating. The restaurants are superb. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are a couple of things that were not positive. First and foremost, you need to understand that this is a luxury hotel and NOTHING is inexpensive. Food is good but very overpriced. The spa is a little scattered with the therapy rooms separate from check in which is the other side of the resort from the fitness center and steam rooms and spa tubs. But the most noticeable issue is the pool. It is completely overrun by kids. There is nowhere to rest peacefully or relax. The hot tub is always filled with screaming 8 year olds and the pool area is also kid dominated. That is wonderful if you are traveling as a family. But if you are doing a couples romantic getaway, you will not be happy at the pool… so said many to us as we tolerated the kids. It would be wonderful if the pool attendants just managed the hot tub or asked the kids parents to control their own. It would be amazing if they made a few cabanas to isolate a little. But honestly without an actual “adult only” pool… for the money, I will probably go somewhere else next time. Which is sad, because I love this resort.

I spent three nights at this property and could not use the only pool at all since it was monopolized by kids the entire day until 7.00 pm!! They have no limited kids hours policy. Further, the dining in options are limited to an independent run Italian restaurant and a high priced French restauran and Lobby area, with the main restaurant being open two days a week (Tuesdays. and Thursdays). Also, the hotel shuttle bus to Waikiki only operates twice daily so most days you have to pay an Uber $30 to drive you there. They also don’t serve meals/drinks on the beach area and you have walk to the Beach restaurant near the pool. Service was generally good, with the exception of the Concierge who could rarely be found!

Property was pretty great. The first floor had water damage and reconstruction which was unpleasant. They couldn’t relocate us which was a shame. All employees and staff were professional and pleasant. Property is clean but could use an update to keep up with other 5 star properties like the new Four Seasons.

The room carpet was very dirty and furniture was all scratched up and damaged. The property was very old and dated . it does smell like old property and dusty. I requested a room change after first night. They were not able to accommodate my request. They can change to upgrade with additional 300 per night. finally second day they are able to change the room, but the condition was pretty much the same. so if you asked me if I would stay there again, unfortunately I wouldn’t stay there again. The property is beautiful, but the room condition is horrible. It’s not a five star.

It was another great stay. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms, the cleaning, and the staff in all areas. It is nice to be welcomed with hospitality. This is a heavenly hotel no matter how many times we come back and we plan to visit again this year. I don't know of a nicer hotel.

Let's start with the room. Unfortunately, it was far from what we expected. The room was dated and appeared to be in need of some serious renovations. The worn-down carpets and the presence of mold in the bathroom were major turn-offs. Moreover, the toilet was less than satisfactory since it had an issue with its plumbing, which was quite surprising for a hotel of this caliber. Our experience with room service didn't fare much better. The food we ordered was not only tasteless but also arrived cold, which was unexpected for a resort of this reputation. It felt like the quality was comparable to that of a dive bar, which was a letdown considering the food' cost. On a more positive note, we did enjoy our dining experience at the Plumeria restaurant. The food there was excellent, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the dolphin enclosure, which provided a unique and memorable experience. Additionally, the resort's access to a calm shoreline was a major plus, especially for families with young children. In terms of the staff, we found them to be very kind and accommodating. However, when I raised my concerns upon checking out and expressed my disappointment with the room quality, I received a rather monotone apology with no effort made to address or rectify the issues. It would have been appreciated if they had made some effort to provide compensation to make up for the subpar accommodations. (P.S. We're undercover reviewers)

Our experience with room service didn't fare much better. The food we ordered was not only tasteless but also arrived cold, which was unexpected for a resort of this reputation. It felt like the quality was comparable to that of a dive bar, which was a letdown considering the food' cost. On a more positive note, we did enjoy our dining experience at the Plumeria restaurant. The food there was excellent, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the dolphin enclosure, which provided a unique and memorable experience. Additionally, the resort's access to a calm shoreline was a major plus, especially for families with young children. In terms of the staff, we found them to be very kind and accommodating. However, when I raised my concerns upon checking out and expressed my disappointment with the room quality, I received a rather monotone apology with no effort made to address or rectify the issues. It would have been appreciated if they had made some effort to provide compensation to make up for the subpar accommodations. (P.S. We're undercover reviewers)

It makes me sad to leave this beautiful, peaceful place. The Kahala is certainly one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at—at least recently. From the valet staff to the front desk to the servers and housekeepers, the Kahala provides excellent and friendly service. The location is convenient—close enough to Waikiki, diamond head, and other tourist spots but not too close to the noise and crowds. Our view was fantastic—we had a spacious balcony overlooking the pristine golf course next door and the mountains. Our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable. The Plumeria was great and there were a handful of other restaurants but I do wish they had more lunch and brunch options as a lot of them opened only for dinner. Their beach was also wonderful—calm and incredibly relaxing, providing plenty of space to reflect and take in the amazing ocean views. I certainly would want to come back and stay here again should I come back to town!

Great location but the hotel looks very tired and a bit tacky in places. The decor needs an update. The coffee and croissants in the shop are heinously priced. $20 for a machine made espresso and a synthetic pastry is insanity. Needs a proper coffee shop. Too many weddings also meaning half the hotel was inaccessible.

The only downside to this hotel is the distance from Waikiki and that’s not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you want. The staff here is very nice. The rooms are clean and spacious. Bathroom has a bidet. Tub could be bigger to fit two people easier but still bigger than most. Room was very quiet all day. Tons of things to do at hotel as well as places to eat. 24/7 pool and hot tub! Great place to be if you want to get away and relax.

i have stayed at the kahala several times over a few decades and i feel like the property is getting tired and needs a refurbishment. It feels dated. I was told my room was newly refurbished and i guess it must have been really bad before because it didn’t feel all that different from previous stays. It doesn’t feel like a five star resort.

Disappointed With Room Assignment – Not What We Booked We booked the *Ocean Front Lanai* with **2 twin beds**, expecting a view of the resort pool and *Kahala Beach* as described. However, upon arrival, we were given an *Ocean View Lanai* with **only one king bed** and a view that overlooked the **parking lot**, not the ocean. This was especially disappointing as the *Ocean Front* room was more expensive than the *Ocean View*, and we had specifically chosen it for the view and bed configuration. We brought this to the attention of the staff, but unfortunately, the issue wasn't resolved during our stay. The rest of the resort was beautiful and well-kept, but the mismatch between what we booked and what we received significantly impacted our experience.

Kahala Resort definitely lived up to the glowing reviews I read before booking. I found the resort to be well maintained, the grounds and pool were gorgeous and spent a fair share of my time just relaxing and taking in the beauty of the area. The staff are exceptional and will treat you like family and really the cornerstone to why Kahala is a place I will be staying again in the future.

Second time there... I had the Dolphin Lanai. Leaky pipe on lanai. Flickering bulb in room. Asked to be replaced. Didn't happen. I was asked several times if I had a room there. Didn't hear anyone else get asked. For example - there was a line for lounge chairs. Couple of people in front of me and no one asked them if they were guest. But soon as I walked up I was asked! Phones don't work but they charged you for them anyways! Wallpapers peeling off! 60 years its been around. Maybe it should retire early! Staying at Turtle Bay next time! Way better and newer facilities. Also was made to sit at the bar to eat because we didn't have a reservation even though there were empty tables...? Seems like certain people aren't treated well there!

Upon checkin I was told that they offered me a complimentary upgraded room. When I was checking out they said it was NOT complimentary and they will be charging me $600 additional per night! Wow, I feel like I was lied to. The manager wasn't available and was supposed to call me but never did.

Forget this overpriced resort if you plan to swim in the pool! I spent three nights at this property and could not use the only pool at all since it was monopolized by kids the entire day until 7.00 pm!! They have no limited kids hours policy. Further, the dining in options are limited to an independent run Italian restaurant and a high priced French restauran and Lobby area, with the main restaurant being open two days a week (Tuesdays. and Thursdays). Also, the hotel shuttle bus to Waikiki only operates twice daily so most days you have to pay an Uber $30 to drive you there. They also don’t serve meals/drinks on the beach area and you have walk to the Beach restaurant near the pool. Service was generally good, with the exception of the Concierge who could rarely be found!

This is a great hotel. Beautiful property, great rooms, super friendly staff. Far enough from the hubbub of Waikiki but easy to get there with an Uber or taxi. Gorgeous beach. Loved it!

Vey nice quiet property with its own beach, away from the crowds of Waikiki, but easy access to nearby neighborhoods. Beat to have a rental car if you stay here since it is in an isolated area of Honolulu. Fantastic place to stay!

Beautiful place. Great service. And the private beach is incredible. The only negative is it’s by itself; there’s nothing around it you can walk to. Would recommend renting a car if you are going to stay here.

Everything was great. It is so nice to be far away from the crowded tourist areas. Service is top-notch. With rental car it was easy to explore south and north shore areas, including Hanauma Bay, Sandy Beach, Bellows Beach, the blowhole, and so many scenic lookouts.

BEAUTIFUL location calm quiet beach away from busy Waikiki. Kahala mall close for Whole Foods & Longs & Starbucks, pretty residential area, staff was awesome from front desk to valets.

This place is beautiful, quiet, no resort fee and staff is super friendly. I gave it a four star bc it is away from everything. Food is also is really expensive. We rented a car so we ended up leaving almost every night for dinner. The pool is very small but love the semi private beach area. If you are looking for a resort feel and a place away from everything, this is it. 💛

The food at this restaurant is terrible by and large, and extremely expensive. The buffets are not refreshed often enough, meaning the food is cold and congealed. Unfortunately, there are no restuarants off property that accessible without a van ride or Uber into Waikiki, about 15 minutes.

Food is expensive, but good. 50 bucks for eggs is a lot, right? It is incredibly beautiful. The staff are genuine and very kind. Location is absolutlely stunning. Rooms are outstanding, well equipped, spotless, large, and lovely. Reccomend so highly!

The resort was amazing. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there Sunday thru Thursday so it was disapppointing that the Plumeria bar was closed Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings but we were thankful for the beach bar.
The resort was amazing. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there Sunday thru Thursday so it was disapppointing that the Plumeria bar was closed Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings but we were thankful for the beach bar.

Disappointed for the price of the stay. Was expecting to be blown away by the experience of staying there but the main draw of the hotel is really the beach which is public. Pool bar food was maybe some of the worst hotel food I’ve ever had. $80 for a cold grilled cheese, box of gross chips with salsa and some fish tacos that were unflavored and covered in mayo type sauce. You’re pretty much stuck at the resort without a car so have to Uber out or schedule the shuttle far in advance to get out. Would stay in Waikiki and Uber to this beach next time and skip staying or eating here all together. The beach itself is perfect for kids but the resort itself is not kid friendly.

The Kahala is an excellent property. The grounds are beautiful. The atmosphere relaxing. The staff was amazing. The food was phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Forget this overpriced resort if you plan to swim in the pool! I spent three nights at this property and could not use the only pool at all since it was monopolized by kids the entire day until 7.00 pm!! They have no limited kids hours policy. Further, the dining in options are limited to an independent run Italian restaurant and a high priced French restauran and Lobby area, with the main restaurant being open two days a week (Tuesdays. and Thursdays). Also, the hotel shuttle bus to Waikiki only operates twice daily so most days you have to pay an Uber $30 to drive you there. They also don’t serve meals/drinks on the beach area and you have walk to the Beach restaurant near the pool. Service was generally good, with the exception of the Concierge who could rarely be found!

Second time staying. Great location, beautiful stretch of private beach. Get the impression the staff could be a little more attentive. Waiting staff morale seems low. Basic asks feel like too much work for them. On the plus side the room is comfortable and quiet but could do with a bit of updating. Feels a bit tired. AC in the hotel blasts far far too cold, imagine how much energy could be saved if they just set it at the right temperature. Poolside dining options could use some work.

We booked an ocean view room. The photo on line did not show that you look down on top of the hotel and parking entrance/lot. A bit misleading. Furniture in room a bit hard and bed a bit too firm. The room itself was very nice. Service was excellent. The grounds are gorgeous. I would not stay on that side of the hotel again however. Dolphins were amazing to watch.
