This was outside stay having loved our previous visit 2 years ago. The biggest issue was the parking - the extension to the beer garden has taken half the car park. It meant we spent ages trying to find somewhere to park, as all the pay and displays were rammed full. The hotel itself is lovely, albeit it could do with a bit of a refurb in the bathrooms. The water pressure was non existent. The food is lovely and selection of beers in the bar great. I do love this place, but the parking has put me off a bit

A pub with rooms situated in the old part of the city at the top of the hill, in easy walking distance of the cathedral and castle. Car parking at rear, but don’t trust the claim of an EV charger without checking first as it was long term out of service when we were there. Good food in the restaurant and good beer on the bar. Amply sized rooms with interesting views from those on the front. We’d go again.

Room was well appointed, spacious, and very clean with thoughtful touches including homemade cookies, and chocolates. The Tea/coffee station and toiletries were a good-quality and welcome addition. The big bathtub provided a much needed soak after a day traversing up and down steep hill. The bed was massive (though we found the mattress quite hard). The staff were lovely and helpful, and the whole building was very nicely decorated and kept. Breakfast was standard English fare and the kitchen were able to make dietary amendments for our party’s intolerances/allergies with no trouble. Wonderful location in Uphill Lincoln, plenty of parking on site. We would have liked to make use of the electric vehicle charger however sadly, someone had parked a petrol BMW in the space preventing this.

A lovely room and bathroom, large comfortable bed and good breakfast (although eggs a bit overdone). Friendly staff and convenient for local attractions. Only downside was lack of parking. There is a patrons’ car park behind the hotel, but it was full with pub/restaurant customers’ cars. We ended up paying to park in a separate car park off site. This wouldn’t stop us from staying again though.

Clean, comfortable, and spacious. Very nice bathroom with claw foot bath and separate walk in shower. Nice pub/restaurant downstairs with a good breakfast included. Excellent location. A bit noisy in the evening, from the beer garden, but only until 10:30pm. And parking!

Have stayed here a good 6 or 7 times now and continue to experience excellent staff services. They are friendly, approachable, accommodating and professional. As always the food was excellent and my wife's food allergies fully and professionally catered for. Room was clean and the bed comfortable.Shower water hot and the en-suite clean and warm. A problem with the hotel heating system did not spoil the overnight stay. Would stay again!!

Absolutely beautiful room and en-suite which was well equipped. Fabulous location which was right in the centre of Lincoln. Free parking was a bonus. Only downfall was the smell from the drains downstairs, there was obviously a problem in the reception area which travelled up to the room so spent the night with the window open, the hallway window open and fans blasting the smell the opposite way. The property does not have onsite reception overnight but when we mentioned it to a member of staff the next day they reacted as if they couldn’t smell it! We found that really weird as it was awful - how could they not smell it!

We absolutely LOVED our stay. The pub/restaurant was fantastic. The food was beyond delicious and the staff was lovely. The room, was nice but the carpet was getting a bit tired and the entrance to the hotel did not smell very good but it didn't get in the way of how much we enjoyed our stay.

Our rooms were spotlessly clean and super comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast choices were excellent also.

Room clean and tidy, quite a lot of stairs to get to rooms especially room 9 which was furthest away. a few minor things. Sink pedalstill cracked, cracks in ceiling above bed. Apart from that bed comfortable, facilities good, had 2 night stay 1st breakfast was great 2nd day not as good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay if visiting Lincoln, friendly welcome. Very clean and comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. Parking not easy to find, first right after hotel the second right.

Wow surpassed our expectations. Friendly staff - car park was full but the lovely lady that checked us in got the chef to move his car. Such a comfy room. Great food has a meal in the evening and the breakfasts included are amazing. So good we have already booked to come back in September x

Beautiful, traditional place to stay. From walking in the door it just feels cosy and welcoming. Breakfast was quality produce, cooked perfectly to order. Would definitely stay again. Very clean, homely and friendly staff.

Good base at top of town near Cathedral and Castle.Very friendly staff and tasty breakfast. Room 1 was large and comfortable but on a hot day, even 3 fans could not keep cool and had to leave window open at night. On site parking a bonus. Open top bus tour stops outside and is very interesting. Bomber Command stop worth a visit on the tour. Would stay again

Lovely bar and restaurant. Staff very friendly. Room 5 was very small and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on. My partner likes a hard bed but he said this was like sleeping on blue circle cerement. Shame as we stay in Lincoln quite often but would not stay again because of this.

Lovely comfortable room. Temperature was hot (middle of summer) but the fans in the room were noisy. Breakfast was excellent, all freshly cooked and great. Excellent location for the Castle and Cathedral

My husband and I stayed here for a night away. The room was beautiful - it was very clean, decorated lovely and was spacious. The room was directly above the beer garden which was incredibly noisy until just gone 11pm when the bar shut. Word for word you could hear what was said outside and obviously people were there enjoying themselves - loud and rowdy as to be expected in a popular pub. But, if you want an early night or are a light sleeper, I wouldn’t recommend. Unfortunately for us too, in the morning the person in the next room was up at 7am and the walls are very thin so it sounded as if they were showering in our room. The pub / restaurant was very busy when we went, so quieter times might be better. Overall I enjoyed it - the breakfast the next morning was delicious too - but I wouldn’t stay again.

As always the food was excellent and my wife's food allergies fully and professionally catered for. Room was clean and the bed comfortable.Shower water hot and the en-suite clean and warm. A problem with the hotel heating system did not spoil the overnight stay. Would stay again!!
Have stayed here a good 6 or 7 times now and continue to experience excellent staff services. They are friendly, approachable, accommodating and professional. Absolutely lovely stay at Duke William hotel. It was the perfect location for us to attend a concert at the castle, just a 1min walk away. The hotel check-in was simple, our room was lovely, albeit compact, the bed is huge and very comfortable, and it is very central and a historic building. Evening bar staff were a little salty, but the day time team were great. The breakfast is pre-ordered the night before, and was really lovely. Nice ingredients and poached cooked perfectly! The icing on the cake for me has to be the aftercare. We had left a jumper at the hotel, loving 2hrs away wasn’t an option, but they happily posted it for me and it was with me 2 days! Outstanding service.

Adored our stay here! The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and tons of dining options. The staff was lovely and accommodating and stored our luggage for us upon arrival and departure. Such a charming area to stay in and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Lincoln.

We had a lovely stay at the Duke William Hotel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The hotel has real character being an historic building but with modern facilities it makes this hotel a great place to stay if visiting Lincoln as the hotel is situated near to the city center. Our room was clean with a lovely large Super King size bed and our modern bathroom had both a bath and shower. The breakfast was excellent and the pub had a good range of drinks and food and had a lovely feel to it!

We enjoyed our stay although felt the room was overpriced for the size. However we appreciated we stayed at a very busy time during the SteamPunk festival weekend. No hot water during the stay although we had been alerted during check in. Staff were brilliant throughout the pub, restaurant and hotel.

From checking to checking out service by staff was very good especially Kitty , room was spacious and clean , bed was kingsize and comfortable, breakfast was very good , over all enjoyed our stay the staff were very busy with it been the time of year near Xmas and were fully booked for food the time we was there but that didn’t deter from going out the way for you and been friendly, I hope they are duly rewarded for this , we will certainly use this place again thanks and wish all the staff a Merry Christmas 🎄!

"I can't fault the room, it was clean and comfortable. However, the bathroom mirror light was broken and it was very noisy as it overlooked the outside heated area. Additionally, there was no double glazing. The breakfast was below average with half a dried tomato, a burnt mushroom, and a dry egg pancake which was supposed to be scrambled. The bacon was dry and hard and the sausage was very small. On the other hand, the evening meal at the hotel was excellent. Although I paid £150 for a bed and breakfast, I don't think it was worth this price. Nevertheless, the location was perfect."

The hotel was lovely and cannot complain about our room or breakfast We did have a drink in the bar, however the young barman ran last orders at 22.15 on a Saturday night. He turned away 2 couples who walked in wanting a drink We were told by receptionist when checking in last orders are around 23.00 and probably close at 23.30. It was clear the young bar man wanted to close up early so he could go out with his friends at the bar. We did speak to the manager who did listen and we were served again as well as another 2 people who had walked in at 22.40. This was the only disappointment. Otherwise would recommend this lovely bar and hotel for drinks and food.

If you want a nice base top of lincoln minutes from castle and cathedral this is it ! We had a two bedroom cottage next door to pub quiet after 1030 ish , plenty of room and well equipped we ate a salad in and drank waiting for 6 pm concert start .staff next door lovely and excellent breakfast served till 11am . Uber up hill is highly recommended at 4 quid ,enjoy the walk down !

Great location and easy parking. Everywhere I needed to go to was in easy walking disatance. Lovely quiet, spacious room and really comfortable bed - I slept like a log! Menu choices ok and drink selection very good, with 0% alcohol options available - all at reasonable prices.

A good, well situated hotel (3 minutes walk to the cathedral) awon a lovely, fairly quiet street. Our room description was inaccurate - there was no ‘garden view’ at all and I’m not sure what was ‘classic’ about it. The breakfast was good, as was the meal we had in the restaurant, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would use the DW again if we return to Lincoln.

Great location, great room, the only thing that let the hotel down was our evening meal which was not at the standard we had previously experienced and staff managing restaurant on the evening did let it down. Saying that, breakfasts were fabulous, and otherwise great experience and will definitely stay again.

Excellent check in service and fantastic room only let down by the breakfast. Cereals were out of date, croissants cold in the middle but hot in the outside and orange juice was just coloured water and sugar.

Really nice hotel in the old part of the city. Near the cathedral and castle. Approx 25 mins walk from the train station, but uphill along Steep Hill. Room comfortable with large double bed. Good quality toiletries provided. Breakfast was not buffet style. You had to order the night before. Choice was a bit limited. Cereal choice was bran flakes or cornflakes, no muesli or granola or fresh fruit or yoghurt. However I asked if they could provide muesli fruit and yoghurt and they did and it was good, particularly the fresh fruit salad, delicious. Disappointed with the toast with the cooked breakfast as it was white sliced! No offer of brown or granary etc. Have had better breakfast elsewhere.

Superb location, first rate room, excellent staff, very good dinner options but let down by breakfast options. Breakfast was fine if eggs in one form or other are your thing. If not then the choice was appalling. Cleary they have not heard of a continental breakfast in any shape or form - serving a single so called croissant on a large plate was beyond a joke. Similarly the cereal selection was limited to high sugar level options with muesli nowhere to be seen. This lack of attention to commonplace breakfast choices spoiled somewhat what is otherwise an excellent hotel and one which we would use again and again but on a room only basis with breakfast purchased elsewhere.

Beautiful, traditional place to stay. From walking in the door it just feels cosy and welcoming. Breakfast was quality produce, cooked perfectly to order. Would definitely stay again. Very clean, homely and friendly staff.

The cottage was full of charm and very well equipped with all the necessities. Beds were clean and comfortable and the sitting room and kitchen areas were cosy and well-furnished with a nice attention to detail. All in all a lovely place to stay while exploring the historic centre of this lovely city with its amazing cathedral and fascinating castle. Everyone we spoke to was really friendly and helpful. A great little getaway!

Centrally located in the historic district of Lincoln. Ten minutes walk to castle and cathedral and steep hill. Very old and large pub with restaurant. Individual boutique room. One gripe was lack of natural light in our room which was good in every other way. Staff are friendly and helpful. Car park at rear. We would definitely stay here again.
