Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed. Good facilities in the pool and spa area. Breakfast was great. Picturesque surroundings with friendly staff. Will stay again and book on the golf course.

Excellent stay in this beautiful hotel. Appears to have been recently refurbished to a high standard. We also loved using the facilities - gym and pool, which was included in the price of our room. All facilities were clean and all staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and this was of high quality and again the staff were so welcoming and could not do enough for us. We will definitely be staying here again when we next come to visit family. Thank you

The location was great with a relaxing feel, surrounds very nice with the option of golfing as well. Pool facility was good and In good condition also offered sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Restaurant and bar both clean and well serviced by the staff with everyone being helpful and attentive. Bedroom was a little dated and could do with a little attention but there bathroom was nice and clean and also had a bath

We had a lovely stay. The facilities are great, with access to the spa, and the rooms are warm and clean. Bar space has recently been redone and looks lovely.

Enjoyed my stay it was nice and quiet with the added benefit of being able to have a dip in the onsite swimming pool

The facade and main areas were good and well appointed, however the moment you step into the hallways, there is damp, wall paper hanging off, and lots of very old ceiling tiles etc with water stains, and looking like they would fall down any minute. This apparently was in the ‘upgraded rooms’ which makes me worry about what the starting point may have been. Bathroom window was very large and right next to the toilet (all at body height) and only had a net curtain for obscuring - great in the day, less great at night, turn on the bathroom light and the staff area has full visibility (I know because when I turned out the light, a member of staff below was looking directly at me). The bedroom window had no net curtain, so your choice in the morning is to dress in a poorly lit room (light bulbs were very inadequate for the room size), or open the curtains in a life of Brian style ‘share all’. The staff were friendly and polite, however at check in the room wasn’t ready (we arrive mid afternoon, because we were booked in for spa treatments), and housekeeping were not ready (which is ok), it was suggested we could use the pool, which we did, but had to pay £2 extra each for towels, as we weren’t able to get any from our rooms, because the rooms were not ready. The bath shower area was so poorly fought through that there was no way of showering without flooding the bathroom all in all a very tired hotel great in the common areas but appalling behind the facade.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very dated but clean, spacious and extremely comfy and offered a good nights sleep. Public areas were best and tidy, unfortunately I didn’t get chance to try the restaurant or spa. I would visit again - thank you

The property is in desperate need of an overhaul. Whilst the communal areas are nice, my room was extremely dated. I do appreciate that the building is a listed property, but the sash windows were rotten and the wooden frame was disintegrating. The sealant in the bathroom had come away from the bath and the flooring and the toilet flush was broken. During a stay of 4 nights, my room was not tended once, towels not changed, bin left unemptied and the milk and teabags were not replenished. Luckily, I only used the hotel to sleep, but would not consider it for a holiday break. I asked twice for information about the Spa, but no one could help. Overall, very disappointed… not at all what I was expecting.

Our room was dirty, dingy and dark. Very disappointing indeed.

Stayed one night all the fire regs are outdated which is scary as the hotel room door is incredibly difficult to open quickly which would be terrifying in the event of a fire. We paid 90 pounds which is unreasonable because it’s not worth that at all. The room smelt like it had not been cleaned for months, fusty and full of dust. The towels also smelt really bad. Woodlices in the bath and on the floor which confirmed the above for me that it had not been cleaned properly prior to new guests staying.

The staff were welcoming, our room was clean but there was extensive water damage on the ceiling, the sash windows were in poor condition and one was even painted shut! We stayed for a family wedding and were very disappointed with the overall, tired, condition of the property. The bride and groom had to move to another room as the honeymoon suite flooded during the night! Much work needed to bring it up to standard I would think!

We had a lovely stay; the staff were lovely, the food was great, and the kids and I enjoyed swimming in the hotel pool. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little dated, and the building and its surroundings were pretty. Would happily stay here again.

The room we had, which was apparently one of the best rooms, was very tired and a little neglected. Shower was terrible with hardly any pressure. Drains in the bathroom were stinking. carpets and flooring were filthy, some of the staff were excellent but others were a bit snooty. Food was really nice, I’d advise on getting to breakfast early though, even though it wasn’t busy the fresh food soon ran out.

Staff are very nice and accommodating. The room I stayed in was a little tired and TBH a little cold. I couldn’t turn the radiator up. Bed was soft but comfortable shower is an electric shower with marginal power, it’s not what I am used to but was fine . My breakfast was sensational, I don’t normally eat a cooked breakfast, this was up there and the quality of the ingredients was first class. Credit to the kitchen !

I was staying in room 18 the double bed was very small and the mattress was too soft.

The deluxe bedroom upgrade was not deluxe with very old bathroom fittings, windows difficult to open (sash), very noisy squeaky floorboards in our room but we also heard distinctly the boards from adjacent room (at 3.00am !). Also noisy conversations from adjacent room Very expensive breakfast at £15.00 each (not taken) Good local restaurants and pubs in short driving distance.

I stayed one night at this hotel and overall had a great experience. The customer service was excellent, especially the waiting staff in the breakfast area who were very attentive. The room was massive with a lovely view, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The bus service was also very convenient and well-organized. The only downside was the lack of a lift. With a large piece of luggage, I had to carry it upstairs, which was a bit inconvenient. Other than that, everything was very nice and I truly enjoyed my stay.

The room was a bit old fashioned with creaky floorboards - although the bathroom was nice. Food was a bit patchy - the chicken was dry and rather tasteless, the mushroom starter was nice, the ice cream good, didn’t get a chance to see the spa - the view across the golf course was lovely - with investment could be a lovely place

The hotel itself was impressive .However , our room was in need of a refurbishment.Dated fixture and fittings .Very small double bed ….. but it was a cheap room rate

The Hotel is a lovely building and the grounds are beautiful, we were upgraded to another room which was so spacious and comfortable and the bed was so comfy, Jamie and i didn't get the other mans name on reception, they were amazing, made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble, i would stay here again.

We were disappointed with our rooms though - the floorboards creaked very loudly at any slight movement.The rooms were very tired & dated and the bathroom in Room 31 was very '70s with a poor shower over the bath with a shower curtain. The room was very cold too. We only had one set of towels in two of the three rooms I booked & the bath towel in our room was was damp but the lady in Reception gave us extra towels & replaced the damp towel. I have stayed all over the country with my job but this has to be up there with the worst customer service experience. Gym staff rude, breakfast staff rude and checking out staff rude. I felt like they judged me by appearance a middle aged man dressed casual with a Yorkshire accent when they are used to pampering over elderly rich golfers.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Jamie on reception was so nice and simply couldn’t do enough to help. He truly went the extra mile, an absolute star. The restaurant staff were also lovely and the food was excellent

Rooms are basic and look tired. The restaurant area is excellent and food is delicious! Slight confusion in checking out - but the staff are extremely helpful and work to resolve the issues

Very relaxing and quiet. And at a very reasonable price too. Would definitely stay again if at that price.

The hotel was situtated in a quiet area not too far from canals and local pubs if you cared to venture out.

Excellent location! Staff were so helpful - nothing was any trouble. Food was very good. Excellent all round.

We had no idea a prom was being held so parking very difficult. Due to prom we were told we could not eat in the restaurant until after 8. We booked a table for 8:30 to be told good stopped at 8. Luckily the chef said it was ok and we could order. Had a nice meal and waiting staff were very helpful. Could not have breakfast as we wanted to as this finished at the early time of 9:30.

Staff were lovely but it's a very tired property in need of some modernisation. Dinner was excellent but breakfast (food, service and value) was like being in a different hotel!

The room was cold. Rang to reception who told us the heating was on a timer and it shoukd come on but it never did. Communication between reception and dining area very poor. Quoted 1 price at reception for breakfast and then quoted a different price after we had finished breakfast to pay for it. Breakfast was cold. Which is not expected when youre supposed to be ordering fresh off a menu.
