Staff were delightful and friendly but obviously over stretched. Love the woodland and staying in our own cabin. Didn’t like such limited free access to spa. Didn’t like fire alarm at 6.30 and then no apology or explanation. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was nice. Bathroom weirdly designed so that you couldn’t sit on the toilet easily because the basin was in the way. All in all a good experience for us.

The location and views for the place was spectacular, we stayed in a cabin bedroom and found the bathroom very cold and the tv did not work. A little tired woild be how we would describe the room. Alot of the paths were in desperate need of repair and dangerous in some areas. We arrived and there was a wedding going on and therefore could not park nor book a meal for the evening which was disappointing. We used the spa facilities and were disappointed that there was so many people in the space,.perhaps limiting bookings would be wise. We ate in the bar on the second night and i ordered the Mediterranean veg salad with chicken but there was no chicken on the salad. No staff were available to speak with or check if our food was ok. I had a treatment on our final day and this was excellent, but felt sorry for how the staff were having to fend off so many people coming to the spa and presumably as part of a package were wanting to book treatments but there wasnt availability. The staff member was professional in her approach for the customers but had been put in a difficult.position through poor booking or greed. People were queueing to get in the changing rooms! When we checked out, we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay

I do not believe the hotel should show swimming pool and spar, when the facilities are off limits to guests, unless they pay extra.

Upon arrival we were told that the pool was closed and we must have missed a call to let us know. Nobody rang us or emailed us to let us know which was really annoying as that is the reason we choose this hotel to use the facilities. The manager’s response Was “ahh are you disappointed”?? Really couldn’t care, absolutely shocking customer service. We went to the pool the following day as it was the open and it was freezing and the outside hot tub was closed. Just start to finish a really disappointing bad experience.

We met up with our family on Sat night and were VERY disappointed that the site mgr told us the bar would be open until 11pm but closed it at 9.30pm and refused to servemore drinks. Other guests made same complaint. Other than him the staff were excellent.

People are very nice and friendly, however we have heard a lot of people complaining about things not working at the spa or misunderstandings about food/drink orders, etc. Spa was not tidy at all and not all the things were working. We have chosen this place because of the spa however we did not get any info in advance that it is not fully working. Definitely need to improve things there. Bar is quiet, no music at all. Although they kept turning it on but after one song it would turn off again. Definitely need to fix this as it is too quiet and music does add a lot to the atmosphere.

We left the room at 11pm to go home as the bed was rock hard and we couldn't turn the heating off and the room was boiling hot, we tried to phone reception but the phone didn't work The steam room was out of order and the outside jacuzzi was freezing, really disappointed with our stay

Having used Chevin in the past, it was a pleasant stay for a midweek break. Think most people would enjoy the facilities that it has to offer. Would gladly use it again.

We were a little frustrated having arrived earlier than the normal 3pm check in time, due to having arrangements to meet others at 4pm in Otley, that we did not get access to our room until after 3.30pm. Reception kindly offered us a complimentary drink though and the staff are lovely. Steve in the Leisure Club deserves a special shout out! He is fantastic and really friendly and cheerful guy who loves his job, which radiates from him. Hotel is really nice and leisure club has everthing you need to chill out and unwind. Although for some bizzare reason they now restrict guest access to 7am - 10am and 8pm - 9pm which clashes with breakfast time and if you wish to go in the afternoon, they apply an expensive charge of c.£20 which is a slap in face when you've already paid a lot for your cabin! Breakfast was great, lots of choice and staff again lovely. Overall enjoyed celebrating our 22nd Anniversary, but unlike 10th anniversary when we stayed and we got few nice touches like some fizz and chef doing us a desert with congrats in sauce, this time no gestures received (despite my note on the reservation)

Lovely place to stay, but room 12 felt damp and smelt musty. The floor carpet was slightly damp and there was no ventilation. There were windows to open, but had cobwebs around them and didn’t want spiders coming in. The staff were very nice and the room was clean, although a bit of bleach around the bathroom tiles would get rid of the mould. We didn’t use the spa but the grounds were fabulous.

The grounds were beautiful, our room was a family room and could have been beautiful however, it wasn’t very clean, very dusty, scratched up stained furniture, stains on the carpet and the bathroom was helped together with mastic. The bath panel was rotten. The beds were comfortable if small, there was lots of room and it was lovely to have our own patio. The facilities such as the pool etc were only available at inaccessible hours for children or we had to pay extra which was a huge disappointment. The staff were lovely and polite however the place was understaffed which was blamed on a wedding at the hotel. Long waits for food in the restaurant however we were given our evening meal for free which was very nice as our autistic child waiting for a long time for food drinks etc was a little distressing. The breakfast staff were lovely and friendly but the cooked breakfast was overcooked and definitely not worth what we paid. Overall it was a little disappointing for the money we paid I would have expected more. It wouldn’t take much to make this place shine. If you’re looking for beautiful surroundings, wildlife, nature and lovely staff (though not enough) you won’t be disappointed if you can get passed the badly repaired DIY jobs, scratched up furniture in the rooms, dust and cobwebs and dirty windows and lack of access to facilities for children.

Lovely lodges pet friendly staff friendly and gorgoues location. Only thing that let them down was the cleaniness in the bathroom regarding black mould... and no blind for the bathroom window yes its frosted but can still see naked body shape this lodge window was facing the road.

Really liked the woodland lodge we stayed in, but could have been a lot better, no airer to dry our swimming costumes and towels, managed with coat hangers, just think an airer would be a great addition. Beds were ok, deeper clean would have been appreciated as were lots of cobwebs with spiders in, in every room, Didn’t want to sit on the outside furniture because it was dirty and so many cobwebs, there wasn’t a sweeping brush or anything. I understand it’s a woodland but it could have been kept up to a lot better, just needed a good sweep and hose things down,The windows were doubled up and the middle was just covered in dust and webs felt like there was creepy crawlies everywhere. Kitchen was very good had everything we needed appliances were clean, bathroom the same accept cobwebs with spiders. On a positive note we enjoyed our time there, the staff were really nice warm and welcoming. I would stay again but in the hotel next time as woodland creepy crawlies isn’t for me I have established.

The place is well overdue for some investment. It looks tired and uncared for. The rooms are a disgrace, looks like they have not a proper clean in years. Dust everywhere, wallpaper hanging off, rusty fittings in bathroom, faulty window and door locks. The list goes on. Has all the quality of cheap 2 star accommodation.

Not a great stay unfortunately. Arrived with a very grumpy night porter who want very customer focused. Then we checked into our room & the toilet had the last persons deposits in and was not very clean in the bathroom. The bed was lumpy and the room was extremely noisy with noises from the corridor and adjoining rooms. Lovely view from the room though but would not stay again, very outdated hotel desperately in need of modernising.

The hotel is dated and unclean. Both rooms we booked smelt musty and needed a good clean, there were wires hanging off the wall and my room had a big wet patch on the carpet. The bedding and towels were clean but that was all, even the kettle had a layer of dust on it. The hotel is advertised as a spa and the pictures look nice but do not be fooled, this hotel is certainly not up to a spa standards, it has a freezing cold pool and a hot tub which we couldn’t use and the kids could only use the pool for a short time before they started to get hypothermia. The bins in the spa area were overflowing with rubbish and was dirty. Not a pleasant experience.

This looked a nice place however room was dirty curtains bathroom bedside table inside the fridge skirting boards had pubic hairs in bathroom tv never worked stains on the walls breakfast was dreadful and sent back refunded breakfast as never ate it and offered 20% off room charge only stayed 5 hours from check in

Booked for latish airport arrival. Friendly welcome at reception and bar and good parking. Room was large and comfortable but mattresses were soft and had perhaps seen better days. Whole hotel was cosy and warm for a winter stay. Breakfast was excellent, good choices and friendly service again with an added view of the lake and surroundings. Would definitely stay again.

Comfortable bedroom and en-suite with terrace in a woodland lodge setting. Facilities fairly good (fridge, hair dryer, etc.) although wifi was none existant in the room and TV reception was patchy most of the time (signal kept breaking up on most channels). Its a beautiful setting. Sadly the wooden lodges where we stayed were very dated. TV had such bad reception it was impossible to watch. Room was very small. Comfy bed but only a standard double bed. Overall quite tatty outside and in. At £170 per night the place isn't worth the money. Breakfast was nice and the lodges were quiet. Very poor wifi not what i expected paying that price.

We had a double room in the main part of the hotel. Our daughter stayed at the same time and booked at the same time. Our room was very small and in need of an overhaul. It would have been fine overnight but we booked 2 nights so became a little cramped. We had to shuffle between the bed and the radiator panel to access the ensuite and door to the wardrobe. We are quite slim as a couple. In comparison our daughter's room was in the chalets and much roomier and modern. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the setting is very conveniently situated to travel to Otley, Harrogate and Leeds. Close proximity to the Royalty pub which has fantastic views and a warm welcome. Overall, the accommodation was a little disappointing but the setting and staff were lovely.

The room was fine, quite large but relatively empty of furniture so it felt a bit odd inside. The hotel itself is quite dated, quite desperately in need of a refurbish. The staff however were very kind, helpful, and friendly so can't fault that. I think if they spent some time refreshing this place and modernising it, it could be quite wonderful given the gorgeous location.

We booked this for our 10th wedding anniversary expecting a nice, quiet retreat. Unfortunately, the cabins are not actually separate as expected. They are split into 2 with just a door separating them. This meant you could hear the guests next door talking, snoring,etc. Not the private getaway we were looking for and would unfortunately prevent us from booking again. On the plus side, the property is set in a beautiful location and the staff were fantastic.

After a prolonged exchange via Hotels.con messaging trying to reserve rooms near each other and a great deal of confusion caused by the fact that Chevin House is now owned by a hotel chain whose central team seemed incapable of communicating with hotel reservation staff, I contacted Chevin directly and was quickly helped. The stay itself was good. It is very convenient to Leeds Airport. The rooms are comfortable and have all the essentials, though not many outlets for plugs. Food was decent though the restaurant seemed understaffed. The staff were all cheerful and helpful.

After booking the room, we tried for 2 weeks to book a spa day for when we were there (approx 10 phone calls, 3 emails, a Facebook message and an instagram message) only to finally be told a few days before we arrived that they’ve sold out. Booked a meal for 7:30 and although the restaurant was almost empty, we waited an hour for our food to arrive. When it arrived, my medium rare steak was cold to the touch and dry/ chewy. Wendy’s steak was chewy, just warm and had a second, thin slice of steak which had the consistency of shoe leather. We only ate the food because we were so hungry after a day of walking and there was no alternative option to eat. 2 steak meals and a bottle of wine for £70(ish) and I’ve had better food at Wetherspoons ! In our room, one lampshade was broken, the shower curtain didn’t fit the bath and both taps leaked. For just under £140 a night I expected more. Very disappointed.

We met up with our family on Sat night and were VERY disappointed that the site mgr told us the bar would be open until 11pm but closed it at 9.30pm and refused to servemore drinks. Other guests made same complaint. Other than him the staff were excellent.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at Chevin, both times we have loved the hotel and surrounding grounds, but on both occasions there was a wedding reception taking place, and the staff were very scarce to say the least for other guests.

Fabulous Hotel no complaints about that or food.. Bedrooms are fabulous with Elemis little sleep pack Only complaint !! When we checked in we asked reception to book a taxi for 5am to take us to Airport . Taxi NEVER turned up.. Finally rang ourselves to Amber at L.B.A But had to wait till 5.40 to be picked up... Book your own Taxis.

Booked for latish airport arrival. Friendly welcome at reception and bar and good parking. Room was large and comfortable but mattresses were soft and had perhaps seen better days. Whole hotel was cosy and warm for a winter stay. Breakfast was excellent, good choices and friendly service again with an added view of the lake and surroundings. Would definitely stay again.

Jan 2025 - Two night stay for a retired couple with two dogs. The accommodations looked like detached woodland lodge on the website but was actually split into three with very little sound proofing at all, We could hear the full conversations of our adjoining guests whilst inside our lodge. The accommodation was basic, dated and well worn. Doors were scratched by previous pets and the modular settee and chair were cheap and uncomfortable. The lodge consisted of one room with door to dated but clean bathroom and door to tiny room with single bed. Bedding very clean on small double bed. There was a small fridge sat on the floor without worktop or unit,no cutlery or tin opener etc to prepare tinned dog food, Dog bowls washed in small bathroom sink with handwash. The TV was dated and we had no digital channels / signal or internet on our first night . There was no connection to Wi-Fi or signal available from our lodge on our first night but we were able to connect on our 2nd night. Spa and pool good and couldn’t fault the breakfast. Surroundings were quiet and ideal for dog walking. We were charged an extra £40 for two dogs for the two nights. The charge wasn’t mentioned until we’d actually booked our dog friendly accommodation.

Chevin was a perfect choice for us as we were attending a wedding very close by. We had a standard double Woodland Cabin which was much smaller than the photos on the website portray. If I was to stay again, I would choose the Executive cabin. The restaurant was lovely and the food good and reasonably priced, though we only ate there once.

Quick stay night before airport the morning after. Location great for that. However, room very basic and although looked clean, was in need of a spruce up and the carpet felt old and grubby. Pillows not very comfortable but mattress decent. The food however was disgusting. I ordered the Glamorgan Wellington and a side of thrice cooked chips plus a side salad of tomatoes (not in the menu but assumed the chef could put tomatoes in a basic vinegar dressing and this was agreed). The Wellington arrived it was very small for nearly £8 annd was greasy. It came with 2 types of pesto. The red pesto was off. I can only describe the taste as what I imagine nail varnish remover would taste like. I was immediately sickened and couldn’t eat anything more. The chips were so fat they were like roast potatoes and as for being thrice cooked they may well have been but it was in cold oil. They were soggy and dripping in grease. The tomato salad consisted of three thin slices of beef tomato in a bit of oil and vinegar that they wanted to charge me £3.50 for the privilege. Needless to say I refused. The Wellington cost was removed from the bill thankfully. My hubby ordered fish and chips and at £18.50 was on the very top end of cost for this type of dish. It had all the same issues. Greasy. Thick unappealing soggy batter. The only good thing about the dining experience was the poor waiter who was so helpful and friendly but clearly very embarrassed to have to serve food like that.

We were a little frustrated having arrived earlier than the normal 3pm check in time, due to having arrangements to meet others at 4pm in Otley, that we did not get access to our room until after 3.30pm. Reception kindly offered us a complimentary drink though and the staff are lovely. Steve in the Leisure Club deserves a special shout out! He is fantastic and really friendly and cheerful guy who loves his job, which radiates from him. Hotel is really nice and leisure club has everthing you need to chill out and unwind. Although for some bizzare reason they now restrict guest access to 7am - 10am and 8pm - 9pm which clashes with breakfast time and if you wish to go in the afternoon, they apply an expensive charge of c.£20 which is a slap in face when you've already paid a lot for your cabin! Breakfast was great, lots of choice and staff again lovely. Overall enjoyed celebrating our 22nd Anniversary, but unlike 10th anniversary when we stayed and we got few nice touches like some fizz and chef doing us a desert with congrats in sauce, this time no gestures received (despite my note on the reservation)

Reception kindly offered us a complimentary drink though and the staff are lovely. Steve in the Leisure Club deserves a special shout out! He is fantastic and really friendly and cheerful guy who loves his job, which radiates from him. Hotel is really nice and leisure club has everthing you need to chill out and unwind. Although for some bizzare reason they now restrict guest access to 7am - 10am and 8pm - 9pm which clashes with breakfast time and if you wish to go in the afternoon, they apply an expensive charge of c.£20 which is a slap in face when you've already paid a lot for your cabin! Breakfast was great, lots of choice and staff again lovely. Overall enjoyed celebrating our 22nd Anniversary, but unlike 10th anniversary when we stayed and we got few nice touches like some fizz and chef doing us a desert with congrats in sauce, this time no gestures received (despite my note on the reservation)

Quaint place, however not worth the money. £200+ for a night is way too much. Probably sold based on facilities, although restaurant was poor stand and grounds not well kept.

I booked this hotel while on a business trip as I knew I'd be arriving at Leeds Bradford Airport late and wanted somewhere nearby rather than driving back to Manchester tired. On Hotels.com the hotel had a "Very Good" rating and, at £136 for one night, I expected a comfortable stay. The receptionist was friendly, but unfortunately that was the only positive. The room was in poor condition. The carpets were heavily stained, the fridge made a constant loud noise, the bathroom door was badly scratched, and the bathroom blind barely worked despite the bath and toilet being visible from outside. The bed appeared to have only a mattress topper rather than a fitted sheet, and there was a spider's web with three spiders near the foot of the bed. After a seven-hour journey I was left choosing between trying to sleep in the room or driving home. I chose to leave and drive back to Manchester. The following day I checked the hotel's Google reviews, something I wish I'd done beforehand, and found many recent reviews describing the same issues, confirming my experience wasn't an isolated one. I cannot understand how this property justifies charging £136 per night. I would not recommend this hotel, and I don't believe the Hotels.com rating accurately reflects the standard of accommodation.

Staff seemed to always been in the kitchen, waited ages to sit for dinner, gave up at breakfast and just sat down, someone appeared eventually. Hotel rooms very dated and dark, needs to be modernised. Lovely setting.
