Royal Decameron Club Caribbean Resort - ALL INCLUSIVE

1. Beaches were good. Clean. 2. Food was 5 out of 10. Ran out of items not enough variety. Replenishment not fast. 3. Rooms were clean does need an upgrade though. 4. Service was slow. I had to clean the table to be able to sit. Lack of staff is the reason. 5. Entertainment was good. Had some bands. interactive events.

Need more loungers at the beach and pool area.

It says all inclusive which it is if you demand food and drink. There was only one restaurant open and the main bar. The pool bar didn't have liquor in it. The food options were poor. The was no snacks. Food was only really available when the one restaurant was open. The place is very clean. The pools are small. Not really suitable for children. No watersports was available. The nightly and day entertainment was poor and there was about 15 guests when I booked

Older resort , small and with nice chill Vibes the rooms are clean the beach is fairly large and clean plenty to do always activists and music playing by the pool night shows are nice I would go back thank you to the staff

My stay was awesome, the staff was lovely, they met your every need, the lady named Amoy at the front desk was amazing. Everything was clean and each night brings in different entertainment. I enjoyed every moment.

From the check in to the check out the staff was awesome. The facilities were always well kept and had enough amenities to keep you busy or just relax. The location is far enough away from Montego Bay that you don't have a touristy feel and the staff genuinely want to be there to help you. There were beach chairs available without having to stake your claim early in the morning. The activity director was enthusiastic and had a variety of events to offer. I would definitely look to go back. We stayed in a courtyard room but I may look to do a cottage stay next time.

The ocean view and laid back atmosphere are unmatched to several more expensive properties in the same area. However, it was not a great. 1st, the good - bar staff, entertainment crew, and lifeguards were all awesome. If it wasn’t for them, my rating would be terrible. The rest was simply not good. I paid for an upgraded bungalow type room where I didn’t sleep well because I was up killing ants that were all up on my pillows. While it was annoying that the ants were also in the shower and sink, being on the bed was not cool. I let the front desk know and rather than an apology, I was scolded for not telling them sooner. As a Jamaican, I was excited about the food. Sadly, this was the worst of it. There was simply no pride in the food appearance and the staff was disinterested in making the patrons feel comfortable. One evening, an older couple was on line in front of me waiting to be allowed into the main dining area for dinner. Dinner started at 6:30. At 6:32, the older gentleman asked the host if he could be let in to just sit down. He said no, it’s 6:30 Jamaica time and we waited another 10 mins. This was not amusing & awful to let an older couple stay on their feet bc they were incapable of opening up the restaurant on time so we may be allowed to indulge in mediocre food. Typical breakfast included meat from previous nights soaked in various sauces & fried combinations of rice from previous nights. The white hair nets on the wait staff was also super ghetto. Do better.

I have stayed here several times. It clean, staff are friendly but sometimes can be more attentive in the buffet restaurant. I think this is the best value all inclusive in Jamaica. But don’t expect to pay a relatively low price and get the Ritz. It is nice enough, good facilities and clean. I went off season and it was a shame there was not more hote transport into Ocho Rios. But plenty of taxis which you have to pay for. The evening entertainment is very good indeed. I would say good all round value.

The ocean view family friendly the gym, and the staff was real helpful. The property was nice and clean the rooms was nice and clean!

Could not get any sleep at night so much bug in the room the staff are not nice i would love back my re fun

This property should only be used to lay your head a couple of hours. We found 3 roaches in our room..the dinner buffet was cold. The staff were ok. I would not stay here again. The whole room just looked creepy.

The place need renovation, there was alot of flies pitching on the food especially on the deserts. Some of the staff was rude and not accommodating

Me llama profundamente la atención que sea un Decameron, puesto que la calidad de su infraestructura y del servicio es deficiente, en comparación con otros hoteles de la cadena. Lo peor de todo es la falta de aseo y la cantidad de gatos en el comedor. Realmente un asco!

Too many roaches and floor dirty

The property was nice overall but we did have bed bugs in our room and it wasn't the clean the staff did upgrade us to a better room.

The staff was friendly and catered to the guests. Nice plants and flowers around and the view of the beach was great. The wifi didn't work at all in the room and the tv only worked one night and then it was down. Also, the hot water took a while to heat up and the pressure at the face basin was only a trickle. Bedroom itself was nice , just wished the bathroom was in better condition. Food was also ok at the restaurants.

I was bitten by bed bugs all over my body

I liked the idea of a bungalo for the privacy, but everything,worn out, old, they have cut so many costs! No washcloths, had to beg for towels,they said free bottled water but again it could take hours to get one. Food was miserable.1 restaurant closed,1 that only could serve about 40 people a night,so no reservations available.Buffet was always out of food they substituted canned vegetables for everything when they had pancakes,NO syrup,then next day syrup but no pancakes, NO bread, bagels, buns etc. unless you were first.Hygiene was NOT something they even tried to do food left at room temp from one meal to next contamination from spoons that were in a fish dish, used in other food pans,I AM ALLERGIC TO FISH, so I couldn't even eat the sub of veggies.Salad bar was filthy and no sneeze guards covering any foods,people even used their hands to pick up lettuce or pick over items touching, putting back food. Overcrowded,everyday there was so little meat of any kind,the pans were already empty after first few people ate and they didn't have more, again substituted canned veggies for meats, inexperienced cooks that even didn't know how to cook an egg,they turned the flame to high to HURRY it up,burnt on outside raw in middle trying to find condiments even salt was an ordeal of tracking down the employee for your sectionsNO OTHERS WOULD HELP YOU only your section's assigned employee.NO quality,everypart of resort was cheapest of cheap! BAR was good! so hungry I had to drink!

need more wifi routers in the property and more modems

The property was safe and clean. The cost of our vacation was very reasonable. The meals can be more of a variety and enough for everyone when there is a high volume of customers. The water pressure for the shower was very poor even though I address that issue. We needed a bellboy to carry our luggage for departure but their phone wasn’t working. I had to walk to the reception desk to get this service. We rented an ocean front cabin but everyone wake up early and snatched the beach chairs for all day use.

The pictures posted online are a trap, its nothing like that for the most part. At first glance its ok but then get into it and its not the best. I got robbed by a housekeeper while I was at the beach, who shouldnt even be at my door because I had the DND sign up. Moreover they didnt even clean the room, spread the bed or give me clean towels or wash cloths. They went through every section of my purse and took out my money. Had to go through a whole ordeal to get it back, the manager even talk about going to the police station like I know where the heck that was .... shout out to Racquel, although I wasnt EVER gon leave that place w/o it! The toilet ran out of water so we couldnt flush for a min, ontop of the fact that the sewage odor rises ever so often into the room. They ran out of some liqour so some drink options were out, the bar tenders were cool tho theyd always suggest something else. There are guys at the front of the property who just hangs out all day & night. Only 1 security guard check guests & visitors who are coming onto the property, I had to stop and ask his name. Shout out to Malcom! The meal options were limited needs improvement with variety. Some of the workers just stand & stare at you during meals This place needs an overhaul in every way you can think. I would not return!!!!

The resort is as expected for a 3.5 rating. The older rooms (not huts) by the front entrance are rustic as in very basic and need upgrading. They smell fusty BUT despite being very, very old they are very clean. I moved to a renovated hut on my second night and it was huge, very bright, clean and comfortable. The beach was nice and the pool area had daily entertainment. The staff seemed a bit rude or defensive so customer service was not good. However the lady at the front desk was very helpful in finding an alternative room and the towel lady was lovely. The evening entertainment was varied. The beach party/show was very loud and music not appropriate to age group of majority of guests. The fire show was very amateur- just a few guys doing a dance routine and dancers wining and some fire eating. The food was terrible. They had no lettuce at lunchtime as they ran out! The special restaurants were fully booked but we got to eat in the Caribbean restaurant but they served the same buffet salad and we found out the buffet had served the same steak that we ordered in the specialty restaurant that particular night. They brought up a tiny piece of cake from the buffet for desert and there was still only one choice of red wine and one white wine. Four days was plenty at this resort. I suggest paying a bit more and staying at a better quality resort.

Bugs in my room Due to wholes in the wall. Bathroom needs a bit of a upgrade. Rooms smell was not pleasant

At one time, the Decameron probably was really nice. The food wasn't great. The room was clean but the traffic (mainly horns at all hours) was loud, as well as a local bar. Had to sleep with ear plugs which was unfortunate because I would have liked to listen to the tree frogs instead. The mattress was not a king size but rather two twins pushed together which left an uncomfortable seam in the middle. The people are very nice. The entertainment was okay and typically very loud from about 10:00 until early afternoon which was unfortunate but some people like that. I don't mind entertainment but they had the mic so high you could hear it down at the beach. We had to get up at 6:30 every morning to put towels on beach chairs otherwise we wouldn't get a single lounge chair. We learned that after the first day of not getting chairs. On vacation, I would rather not have to set an alarm for 6:30 to go reserve chairs. In the past, we have stayed in Negril which had miles of beach that you could walk. We would prefer that compared to the small areas at the Decameron that you could walk. Jamaica is beautiful and the weather was wonderful. All of those small complaints but I would rate the Decameron at 3 out of 5 and probably not come back. We like a more laid-back, quiet vacation.

I have stayed at this property before changing ownership. Its always a lower budget hotel, but i thought the new owners would make better updates to the rooms and bathrooms before reopening. I do hoped this is something that they're working on. As a lover of nature i like the place for the fruit trees and gardens rights throughout the grounds, helps to keeping the place cool, instead of concrete. Plenty of nice beach areas. The staff was very helpful but not a true test, as their were limited persons there at the time of my visits, and they weren't overwhelmed. So i do hope that they can maintain that standard. Otherwise I'm looking forward to staying there again sometime. And I'm wishing the new ownership great success as they wishes to invest in Jamaica, while creating jobs for locals and foreigners alike. Bless!

No hot water in hut

Whilst management is new you can tell they are working extremely hard to provide excellent service to their visitors. Every staff with whom we made contact was efficient, service centered and willing to go above the call of duty to ensure our vacation was memorable. My husband is already thinking of returning next weekend. Staff members who we can mention by name include Omar and Ruel at the bar. Ruel is excellent and we watched him multitasking and helping around in every area including the dining room. He is a true asset to the business. The front desk staff were also very warm and welcoming and provided assistance when needed. Thanks again MGM. We had a great time.

Staff at check-in were excellent. One or two staff members at the grill did not display a welcoming attitude. Beach staff were great. The room and service were excellent except for the fact that the telephone extension did not seem to work. I also accidentally left my phone underneath the comforter. It was immediately taken to the front desk and logged appropriately and was collected with ease.

We spent an entire day just getting checked into the room, it wasn’t ready when it was supposed to be. Literally hours checking in hanging around the lobby. I heard other guests complaining about the same issue. We requested a quiet room and were placed in the bungalow near the main office. There was loud music that was blasting till 3 am every night after two nights of no sleep I insisted they move me further away, that took up an entire other day of our 5 night stay waiting for a room to be available.

adding additional fees and no one cares to talk to the travel company as to why. the staff at the front desk, especailly darren is very hands off and will not accomodate any guest requests . Very annoying indeed

Service is terrible receptionist are unorganized unprofessional all staff seem like they don’t know what’s going on made me feel very uncomfortable they were whispering upon each other and not giving me answers when I ask .

The staff here are very belligerent and we were constantly being YELLED at for stupid insignificant stuff. It’s impossible to get towels or any other service. We would be in our room ready to take a shower (after the room had been serviced they did not leave any in the room) and have to wait several hours and call several times before anyone would bring towels. When they did bring them, they would only give us 2 and we were a party of 3. It’s all inclusive but the food is terrible. They also are out of most items and they are unable to replenish them. The bars have no CO2 so the beer taps and soda guns don’t work so if you ask for anything carbonated it always flat. They don’t keep up with their dish cleaning so they were regularly out of cups and plates so you couldn’t even get a drink or food if you wanted to. Do not stay here. We travel a lot (including many times in Jamaica) and this has been the worst experience we have ever had.

I wish there was a way to tip the staff as a group. There were different staff waiting on us daily and it’s hard for one person to tip everyone. With that being said, I think if group tips were given there might be better service. I am not sure. The main lack in service came from each dining room experience. You had to track someone down to clear a table to sit at and wait for silverware to eat. The same thing happened if you wanted water or something to drink. I guess you get what you pay for. Overall it wasn’t horrible. I just wanted better service. The hotel is on the beach. It’s never ending cheap alcohol and entertainment at 8. The rooms were ok, but who stays in the room on the beach. If you are looking for a fun cheap experience, this is the place. You get what you pay for!

My experience was rewarding relaxing and exhilarating, the property was breathtaking and impressive, beautiful manicured property with an array of trees, easy access to the beautiful beach and pools, I especially enjoy the privacy it offered. Available was a wide selection of food choices that were quite delicious and multiple options for beverages. I had no reason to leave during my stay except for shopping. For me, I was most impressed with the staff, they all were very attentive professional respectful always attending to my needs offering services with a smile. I am already making plans to return with friends and family. Absolutely no regrets I’m spreading the word to visit this heaven on earth. I loved my stay!!

Nice room and location. However the facet in the bathroom was leaking and there was an additional fee that we were charged which was not communicated to us before

The beach was breathtaking and the resort was clean. If you are used to the fancier resorts there are some dissappointments because staff smile and greet you, maybe even know your name. This resort is great if you just want to relax on the beach and explore Jamaica. You probably won't get spoiled but you will have beautiful sea and sand, good drinks, water sports,and food for an exceptional price that is truly all inclusive. I plan to return.

Poor or no internet service, food wasn’t the best, poor signage to find the hotel, road was bad in going to the hotel Staff were accommodating

The location of the property was ideal, it was convenience for our day trips to the falls, rafting, tubing and getting to Rick's Cafe. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious with lots of variety.

We had a chalet 1 bed with mezzanine that could accomodate 4/5 persons so an advantage over a standard room but we had a 3person group and with a single b/wc would be an issue for a larger group It was offering reasonable vfm aspects but some of external areas were dated and in need of updating or refurb My 2 issurs was beach towel supplies and some of the beach areas had a lot of sea grass I would stay here again as it is well located in the cente of the Northcoast

Was somewhat concerned about security

Location: Our garden room was nothing like the advertised photos. The online room selections are very misleading. We were placed in the front of the property to the left of security and facing the property entrance. This area is very loud, adjacent to a sewage plant with a strong sewage odor, guests smoking cigarettes outside and inside their rooms. Every night we heard loud construction, conversations and music blasting from nearby bar/club. I’m asthmatic so the front desk did accommodate us by switching rooms but was two doors down from the original room and the conditions were no better. Beach: non motorized equipment always available. Beach chairs/ loungers were taken by early morning by other guests who placed beach towels or personal items to secure their location. Sightseeing: inconvenient location to shopping and activities; you will need a taxi and the taxis recommended by the resort are overpriced. Taxis are available immediately outside the resort but again the area is a bit sketchy and they are HAGGLING out front for your services. Condition: The property is poorly property- toilet leaking, shower edges rusting, no operating phone in room, old towels and sheets. Not to mention there are no-smoking signs all throughout the property grounds and the guests were not complying with the posted signs nor were the staff reminding them of the rules. So we found ourselves frequently moving seats, tables, lounge chairs etc. see Yelp & google for full review

Dependant on where you are on the property, the noise from the main road is quite disturbing at night. I'm not sure if there's designated smoking/non -smoking rooms - but unfortunately we were disturbed by a couple who smoked quite heavily - which was our bad luck too, but something to be considered. Also, more sun loungers for the beach areas are needed - there is plenty of space to accommodate this, and they are poorly maintained - this needs to be improved. A little more attention to cleaning of the rooms (e.g the lampshades were dusty ) required, extra hangers, hand towels to be distributed - we did ask for these items,but they never materialised. The garden areas around the rooms are beautifully maintained, with beautiful native plants and vegetation. Staff are friendly and helpful though!

The location right off the water was the best part of the stay. Typical food for an all inclusive but not enough options for vegetarian or vegans, especially at the snack bar. They had only meat options. The worst issue at this location was the wifi. I was on a working vacation and the wifi connection was horrible!

The Decameron has its vibe - quite laid-back. My stay was ok. What I find unqiue is that every guest has their own little cottage set up; not like your traditional hotel. Plus it is situated in a central location to several excursions. The hotel's beach is also wonderful and clean. The front desk is very helpful. However, the food, restaurant service and entertainment were ok. Although the hotel was pretty clean, there were cockroaches in my room. :/ If you're looking for "luxury", the Decameron may not be the right choice for you. But overall, it's ok.

If you have stayed at an all-inclusive in the past DO NOT STAY HERE. This place was terrible. They advertise having three restaurants. They have one. They actually have two but one of them is closed. They won't tell you that though. They advertise they have a snack bar/deli. They do not. At the property they tell you that they have a beach grill but it is closed. The one restaurant they have available was impossible to go to because it was booked out before we even checked in. Also, after the first night we were told that nobody knows if the restaurant will be open the rest of the week. The only food available was the buffett. The buffett was so bad (limited) that all of the guests were taking taxis to the market to get food. It was ridiculous. Even our mini bar in the room was empty. The staff lies and is unhelpful. We asked where one of the restaurants was located. The front desk pointed and said, "that way." We searched for it but found it to be closed when we got there. The pool was closed. Our room had rust throughout the bathroom. The bed is advertised as a king bed but it is two twin beds pushed together so there is a hole in the middle where the two frames meet. The power went out several times too. We ended up leaving because it was so bad and stayed at another all-inclusive that was fantastic. The biggest disappointment is that the property was not even close to what was advertised. Stay somewhere else.

I like how convenient it was to get there close to the main. So the location was good..they need a more variety of food there wasn't a lot to chose from.. at the bar the drinks were water down which i never like. That might be ok for some but not us

So, to honest the buffet every night was better that the fancy restaurant food. There was only one restaurant open on property and it split menu alternating between asian and Mediterranean. The soup and salad were the same both nights. Oriental was sad to say the least. Mediterranean was better but still not great. Stay with the buffet.

Nice laid back place, for the money. This is not a 5 star resort. It's a decent middle of the line resort. The staff was very friendly and generally helpful Dining options are quite limited. They have a buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner and about 4 main meat dishes are served at dinner. At lunch on some days there is good jerk chicken cooked on a grille outside. The specialty restaurants are bad. Like not enough food and nothing special. Wife had "Shrimp fried rice". That was a small bowl of fried rice with three medium shrimp, shell on, on top. I ordered some beef on a skewer. There were three pieces, all chewy as gum, also with rice and a few veggies. We went to the buffet. Bars are OK with lots of rum varieties and off brand liquors. There were two whiskeys, one Canadian and one scotch I'd never heard of. For beer there was Presendente, from the Dominican republic. That's it. Still two frozen drink machines and bartenders happy to make whatever as long as they had ingredients. I'd likely return, the price was great, the rooms were super clean with nice linens and the all-ground-floor rooms and cottages were very nice. Set expectations appropriately and chill. If you expect room service, in-room bar, or anyone bringing you a drink by the pool, go elsewhere.

Loved the property; the beach and the landscape. Customer service at the front desk was also good. Entertainment specifically “ showtime was poor” as the entertainment was not pleasing. Better entertainment options needed. More variety of dancers and singers were needed.. Food quality was good however more culinary options were needed. Additionally more supervision was needed in the main food area, as many times the food trays were empty and needed replenishing in a timely manner. Due to this there was always a rush of people at opening hours crowding the entrance to ensure they were able to get food. Other guests could be heard constantly complaining about the aforementioned food issues.

The check in was superb and staff friendly. The food is the main turn off, went their a few years ago for my birthday and the food then was limited had little to none variety of items to choose from, fast forward a few years later and it’s the same. Limited food, fos ran our quickly, usual 2 or 3 meat to choose from, food cold.. definitely need improvement in that area.

They resort is old and needs some updating! Some of the female desk staff are not friendly. The food was mediocre with very limited options. All of the food tasted bland!! I was extremely disappointed in the food at the resort. The drinks were just okay to be an all inclusive resort. There was NEVER any jerk chicken on the buffet which is one thing I came to Jamaica for and when food ran out on the buffet it was slow to be replenished if it was replenished at all. No one told me anything about the spa nor did I know where it was, same thing about the disco. They cold do better to advertise their onsite activities. Decameron did not leave a great first impression but I would return to Jamaica and stay at another resort.
