We loved our stay at the Grey Whale. As others noted, the restaurant isn't open and the breakfast offering is a real disappointment. I recommend not waiting for the office to open for the 'continental breakfast' (there isn't coffee in the office either). Just go across the street to the coffee house or bring your own breakfast.

It was perfect after a long day of driving. Little dated but that didn’t matter. We had a great night of rest and the view was great off the deck. The office personal was very friendly. The take with us breakfast was great. We would stay again. God Bless

This is an old hotel and it shows. We stayed in the Starlight Suite which looks like a room converted from an old office, with a kitchenette, a giant desk, and two exits. The view was beautiful! When we checked in they provided us with a bagged breakfast for the next morning, consisting of a piece of fruit, a yogurt, and a muffin. The nice person at the front desk informed us that the beautiful restaurant off the lobby was permanently closed. The room, as previously mentioned, appeared to be an old office that had been converted and nothing quite fit right. And was very old and mismatched. The laminate floorboards had gaps in them. Some of the windows were too swollen to be able to latch. The fireplace didn’t work, but had no signage saying so, they did have a small space heater for us to use. There was no room heat/ac. We found a previous guests socks under the desk. The wall-mounted TV was kept level with what looked to be a popsicle stick that needed to be replaced. The room did have a keurig and kcups, but they only supplied us with decaf options. All that said, it was quiet all night, even being close to the road, and the bed, which was a little too soft for my liking, was comfortable, and the pillows were great.

Great view of the river; wonderful seating in the garden area; boxed breakfast okay, however none offered for day 2; no AC or overhead fan, but luckily it was cool at night with the windows open, although a bit damp from the fog. Bed and linens were great. Heated bathroom floor nice. Tub/shower combo a bit tall and with my back twisting into it was a tad hard. Missing a light in the right side of the bed. Parking could be challenging with the inn being full. Basically a house into a triplex overlooking the river as that is the style of the inn setup. However all in all we were happy but it was too expensive for what we had.

Beautiful Inn, check in was easy. Great fresh air and views. They don't offer any sort of food at the Inn except a joke of an attempt at breakfast that they apparently give you when you arrive at 4PM that you get to eat in your room the next morning. Not sure what happened to this place, they dont even have any coffee at the office. Food is very limited in town so having food at least for a good breakfast at the Inn should have been an option. Our cottage seemed a bit run down and i wasnt sure if the large amount of steps up to the cottage were going to be safe. Only real option for a good meal in town is The River's End but you had better make reservations days before you arrive since they are booked out several days if not a week out sometimes.

This inn was such a great find. The rooms are each unique. We had the Fort Ross suite and it was more like an Airbnb with maid service. The library and game room were wonderfully inviting.

Parking was difficult and not enough available. We are senior citizens and had to carry our luggage up and down a fairly steep stairway. Unit had been remodeled and we informed the manager of items that were unfinished and an electrical plug that had quit working while we were there.

Nice property, but bothered by ants in both rooms, in bed, and furniture. Not lots of ants, but would see or have one crawling on you every 5 minutes. Of greater concern was no window coverings on bathroom that had mostly window on wall facing river and 8 or more homes directly across. Couldn't use shower or bath, and had to use toilet with lights out. Desk clerk really didn't seem to care when told about our concern.

The only thing we really liked about this property was the view from the deck, it’s absolutely stunning. I seen in the description that it says it’s “rustic” but, I didn’t realize just how rustic is was going to be. Very much in need of some updates, and smelled terrible. The price that they charge per night does not reflect the quality of the cottage, far too expensive.

Nice, helpful,and welcoming staff. The Waterfall house was in an excellent location and very spacious with nice views, quiet and separate from the other cottages. Surrounded by gardens. Staff was kind to let us check-in early .The down side: The stove did not work well and the fireplace was out of service, and the kitchen was limited regarding pots and pans and other items. Bathrooms need a good spring cleaning.

I've stayed here before around 2004. It used to be crowded and super clean and great place to stay. A lot has changed in 20 years not for the best. On the plus side, the inn is good for an overnight stay specially if your bringing pets. The beds are comfortable and you get a fridge and microwave. The heater works. The staff is friendly and you get brown bag breakfast. They no longer have a café. On the neg side, the Kayaker room is not as expected. The front door was full of stains. The screen is torn or bent. One of the bathroom lights is not working which made the bathroom dark and not fully ADA compliant. Overall I would give this inn a C. It has seen better days.

Our cabin is very old, but it was very clean except for a few cobwebs. Kudos to housekeeping. The beds were very comfortable. The cabin is spacious and cozy. It was so peaceful. My husband was so happy that there was plenty of room to park our truck with a boat on a trailer. After-hours check-in was so easy. The views of the mountains behind us and the river views in front were amazing. Hoping to be back again soon! Thank you Jenner Inn staff!!!

The unit is actually a small single-family house with both front and back yards. It has excellent privacy. Renovation has been done probably few years ago. A lot of dead ants were found in one of the bathrooms. Sometimes, we can't find any front desk staffs to help us or ask questions. Overall, it was a good stay.

Relaxing stay for a short getaway. The room we stayed in had a decent view of the river and quiet from neighbors. Room is located on Hwy 1 so you could hear the cars driveby. Decor was older. Easy short walk to the river and local coffee shops. Pup friendly!

overall is good but only notice the unit I book is Gull room and it was under other unit and I believe there is no insulation for the floor so when the family upstairs like kid jump or adult walk i can hear, especially I notice there is dinning chairs above my bed. not too good for the noise come from other unit. and the patio in the front acutally is not able to access, just the side corner with small table can access and other unit can come down without privacy.

The view is amazing! Enjoyed looking out over the river. The room is beautiful and comfortable. Very nice bathroom with heat. I slept well. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the next morning. Wanted to relax in the chair while reading a book, but the upstairs guests were heavy-footed, so all I heard was loud stomping. I checked out a full hour earlier than planned. Apparently, there is no carpet in the above room so sounds insulation is poor. Will not come back to Jenner Inn unless I get the top floor.

Room was too large for the sparse furnishings. Not laid out well. Water view was limited to one angle and not something that could be enjoyed! Room smelled like wet paint possibly related to the spot on the ceiling. Coffee maker had not been emptied from prior use and overfilled the cup when dispensing.

We had the Pelican Suite which is nice! Has a separate bedroom, a small kitchen and a bay window that overlooks the Russian river. The only problem is you hear some road noise from the highway, which is right where the front door is. Other than that, it was a nice relaxing stay.

Beautiful place with a view of the Russian River. Clean property, heated bathroom floor, handheld shower heads, timed heater in bathroom, boxed breakfast. It didn’t have a TV, later found out I should have requested for one. The walls are not noise insulated, I heard conversations, laughs, foot traffic, that’s probably why no TV. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

I showed up late, after the they closed. They left directions and the key. I didnt realize until the next day there was map on the back. After 3 different flight of stairs i found my room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location in a perfect small coastal town. Person who checked us in even pointed us to a great restaurant in town that was one of the best meals of our trip. Will stay here again, one day!

Nice property, but bothered by ants in both rooms, in bed, and furniture. Not lots of ants, but would see or have one crawling on you every 5 minutes. Of greater concern was no window coverings on bathroom that had mostly window on wall facing river and 8 or more homes directly across. Couldn't use shower or bath, and had to use toilet with lights out. Desk clerk really didn't seem to care when told about our concern.

Our room (The Kayaker Room) was very clean and spacious. The new dining room looks great, but it had not opened yet (a/o 8/21/23). I'd like to go back once they have it going. We enjoyed spending a few minutes working on the jig saw puzzle set up in the main room of the Inn. We met several of the staff, all very friendly.

No staff available past dinnertime (maybe 7pm?), unless its an emergecy you are on your own. Our room was missing TV remote which we didnt notice until staff was gone so no TV for us. Our "shower" was a corner of the room with an elderly persons plastic seat stuck in it. Really weird setup. Hotel restaurant closed and judgy desk clerk suggested we may want to travel to the pub in the next town over for dinner versus the expensive "fine dining" restaurant down the road. Geez lady sorry i didnt wear my formal wear in to check in, i just got here from hiking and traveling down the PCH. Probably not your best choice in the area, keep looking.

This is great place at the mouth of the Russian river. Quiet place from the city to relax. I had a very good night sleep in the very comfortable beds. This is nice place to stay if you going between Point Arena to Occidental. I would highly recommend this place.

Stopped here last minute. It is in a beautiful spot, the lady at the desk is very nice and helpful. The only dinner restaurant right next to the hotel didn’t have anything for kids but there were restaurants within like 10 minutes from the hotel. There’s a great coffee shop across the street that gets busy but is very good. They also gave us a little set of muffins and fruit, which was nice.

We loved our stay at the Grey Whale. As others noted, the restaurant isn't open and the breakfast offering is a real disappointment. I recommend not waiting for the office to open for the 'continental breakfast' (there isn't coffee in the office either). Just go across the street to the coffee house or bring your own breakfast.

This is an old hotel and it shows. We stayed in the Starlight Suite which looks like a room converted from an old office, with a kitchenette, a giant desk, and two exits. The view was beautiful! When we checked in they provided us with a bagged breakfast for the next morning, consisting of a piece of fruit, a yogurt, and a muffin. The nice person at the front desk informed us that the beautiful restaurant off the lobby was permanently closed. The room, as previously mentioned, appeared to be an old office that had been converted and nothing quite fit right. And was very old and mismatched. The laminate floorboards had gaps in them. Some of the windows were too swollen to be able to latch. The fireplace didn’t work, but had no signage saying so, they did have a small space heater for us to use. There was no room heat/ac. We found a previous guests socks under the desk. The wall-mounted TV was kept level with what looked to be a popsicle stick that needed to be replaced. The room did have a keurig and kcups, but they only supplied us with decaf options. All that said, it was quiet all night, even being close to the road, and the bed, which was a little too soft for my liking, was comfortable, and the pillows were great.

Nice old cottage room. Comfortable bed, pot bellied propane stove header, balcony 20ft above edge of Russian River. No air conditioning and heated by sun to 80 F in March, so warm months would be problematic. Only restaurant in town closes at 4pm.

Beautiful Inn, check in was easy. Great fresh air and views. They don't offer any sort of food at the Inn except a joke of an attempt at breakfast that they apparently give you when you arrive at 4PM that you get to eat in your room the next morning. Not sure what happened to this place, they dont even have any coffee at the office. Food is very limited in town so having food at least for a good breakfast at the Inn should have been an option. Our cottage seemed a bit run down and i wasnt sure if the large amount of steps up to the cottage were going to be safe. Only real option for a good meal in town is The River's End but you had better make reservations days before you arrive since they are booked out several days if not a week out sometimes.

We went for a quick getaway overnight. The views from every room were amazing. Full kitchen had just about everything you’d need to cook and eat a full meal, however there was no measuring cups or spoons and the dishwasher wasn’t working, which meant we had to wash our dishes by hand. The only restaurant in town closed at 4pm so if we hadn’t come with food to cook, we’d have been out of luck. In spite of those inconveniences, we were very comfortable and had a great time. Highly recommend it!

First time horrible experience. Our handicap placard clearly visible, upon checkin this 79-year old was greeted by an extremely rude woman who appeared to delight in castigating me for my son's and my handicap which made it painful to hike up an appx 40% graded street to the suite I had reserved for my son's birthday. Because of our handicap I dared to request that we be allowed to park in the driveway next to our entry door which evidently this rude woman had already designated as parking for the room renter behind our suite. She complained that now she would have to remove the parking sign if we were to park there, and that I should have noted this handicap issue when I made reservations. She continued with her diatribe at how they could not accommodate us in the future and how dare we not notify them of our handicap when we made reservations. I have never met anyone that rude before and would not recommend this lodging to anyone with the least physical limitations.

When we reserved a "room" we had no idea we would be getting a 6 room, 2 bath house. The bedroom was huge. Two gas fireplaces. Great view of the river. The "room" was very clean and modern. The on-site restaurant was quiet and had great breakfasts. Parking was excellent. We will definitely be going back.
