Motel 6-Springfield, IL I-55 I-72

For $72 a night for a Keith Urban concert, I’m glad I had somewhere to sleep. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were thrown off with the property in general. Over grown weeds, abandoned building next to them, pool was greenish blue, baby sitting in a crib in the hallway on 1st level. Saw 7 dogs, glad they welcome animals! From 1st Level to 3rd Level, it reeked of piss and cigarettes in the halls and stairwells! Entering our room, we instantly got a pounding headache, it smelled like cigarettes so bad!! We had to go to the nearest Dollar General for Air Fresheners and (3) wall plug in air fresheners ! While entering room and checking towels and bedding.. towels were beyond stained, sheets and pillows had visible stains and reeked of cigarette smoke. We instantly went to the nearest Walmart for Towels, Fitted Sheets, A Blanket and Pillows and threw their “clean” stuff back out in their hall. Bring your own stuff and smell goods! I can’t sleep in a stinky room! No bugs were found which was a high plus! Being close to the interstate was a high plus. Being close to our venue was a plus! Seeing Dogs was a higher plus, especially if you’re away from your fur babies To Housekeeping/Property Staff/Owner, an automatic Deodorizer or smell good for halls would be nice! White sheets would be appreciated, no bleach? If there are smoking rooms, are there deodorizer/smell goods in those rooms? Clean room mirrors better! Cleaning the AC’s Filter would be appreciated, ours was BLACK!

This is a very old property. Nothing has been updated, including the bedding. The towels are as rough and old as sandpaper and they are stained. It looks like they were used to clean the floor. I found live roaches running across the floor! I had to go to Walmart and buy Sheets and a pillow to lay on top of the bed and I slept very little. I would have left, but there was no other place to stay. I will never go back. The people are so friendly and nice, but that does not make up for the terrible conditions of the room. They need to spend some money, get some new sheets and bedding, new towels, and an exterminator! The pool is not even usable. It is so small and so dirty and gross and disgusting.

The parking lot is ran down and the back door doesn’t lock so anyone can come in

Nice staff and clean facilities but the back door with lots of signs saying not to leave cars unlocked and it was a security card activated door only was broken and taped up at the handle with duct tape. Staff knew of this...not safe, guys.

Third time staying here, and this was the worst. Pool wasn't open due to health department and roaches were in my room with only a $10 discount

I was surprised that they got a new elevator even though they are still working the kinks out of it, we had a pleasant stay.

Ice machine upstairs didn’t work, no maid service, did not replace towels or bedding

The pool was green and nasty, had people in and out all night they were loud. No breakfast items, juice, etc. was not worth the $ spent!

We did not want the room serviced. Asked for a do not disturb sign and didnt get one. The room was serviced. Also we have a child and the pool was not operational which was annoying because there was nothing for said child to do.

Hallways smell like urine beds are terrible pillows horrible staff is friendly

The room had roaches crawling around.

Everything appeared fine upon arrival and check in. Returned to the room late that evening, turned in the bathroom light to see juvenile roaches crawling in the wall and floor.

Grass was not cut and was very long. Building was in rough shape. Decals were horrible. Hallways smelled like pee.

The check in process was fast, however, I was unable to sleep due to roaches that crawled on my daughter and when I went to address the front desk no one was there. I was able to kill one in the bathroom. When I finally was able to address it with the front desk all he said was sorry that they had just had an exterminator out a few days ago?! Umm well obviously he didn’t do a good job, as another guest was informing me she always has them in her room. Ugh just horrible.

Killed a cockroach in the room as soon as we arrived. We should have left then. Found another one in the bathroom. There was hair in the shower. No kleenex, no shampoo/conditioner, no blow dryer. It was a hard bed, horrible pillows, and loud hotel. Don't stay!

Nasty place will never even think of staying at a hotel 6 again I will sleep in my car I left this crap hole after 15 minutes of being there. Drugs and loud as all get out bugs everywhere.

Room was okay and clean. But the halls reeked of marijuana.

Roaches

The staff was friendly, nice, and efficient. The room appeared and smelled clean. Was awakened a couple times by a vehicle outside and guests inside as there doesn't appear to be much of a sounded barrier. The price was great for a king bed, and the room was pretty spacious with a big tub.

Bed was uncomfortable... AC didn't work properly... neighbor sounded like they were moving furniture...room was clean and secure...no supplies in bathroom like shampoo and conditioner....for $100....thought that should have been included....no free breakfast... friendly staff...

The elevator did not work Had to go up and down the stairs since we were on the top floor The air conditioner did not work well either Ghe beds very hard

Walls are a bit thin and you can hear your neighbours, especially if you have a room in a high-traffic area - but it does get quieter at night.

Wifi was only issue & wasnt working on 3rd night had Mgr. Come to room & she figured out no wifi in room & gave me second room to finish paperwork and that solved the previous 2nights issue

Noisy hotel

Overall, for the price I paid, it was fine for one night as I was passing through the area. Convenient (near the highway) although not a lot of places in the immediate area for food (I think two restaurants). Rooms are a bit small (but I've had smaller rooms at more luxurious expensive hotels) so not terrible. However my biggest gripe with Motel 6 is the lack of adequate lighting in the room (most only have one lamp on th wall and two lights by the end -- no overhead light and the light on the wall -- entry light -- is not very bright). There is a work table with chairs, but no light, which means you'd either have to buy one or bring one with you (a desk lamp). Only issue I ran into was the outlet box by the bed pulled completely out of the wall.but was plastic thankfully as this is dangerous and a shock hazard, and a bit surprising when I went to pull out the charger plug nad the whole outlet box came out. Room was decently clean (no major issues other than the outlet issue). I would say this would be OK for one or two people, but not for a family, and I wouldn't stay here unless you weren't planning on spending a lot of time at the hotel as there is not much to do near / at the hotel. Parking is limited though at the hotel and the area can be iffy so be careful (not a bad area necessarily but it is by the highway).

Great for the price: clean, comfortable bed, fridge/microwave. Walls are very thin, so you hear some noise, but again, it was a great place to stay for the price.

the manager is inconsiderate and rude

I stayed in 303 for 1 night on 3/22. I have no idea what was going on, but there was screaming all night, some guy trying to break down a door and a girl in the lobby screaming. I got zero sleep and was scared for my personal safety as it seems the motel was just allowing this to happen and never called police. I ended up having to leave personal items in my room as my door would not open again once I took some belongings to my car. I decided to sacrifice what I left behind instead of trying to get back into the room because I had waited for a break in the screaming and fighting so as not to have anything happen to me. I seriously feared for my personal safety.

After leaving and driving to Branson, my wife realized that she had forgotten and left her Kindle reader in our room. A quick phone call and the very nice Office Gal identified it and was extremely efficient in mailing it to us. Thank you very much. I wish that we remembered her name but she deserves a major raise in pay.

Great staff.

AWFUL! Non smoking room but multiple neighbors smoking Marijuana causing our room, and all belongings to smell horribly. Smell got worse throughout the night.. neighbors were partying from 1-4am, which was made worse by the paper thin walls and all connected room. Management was aware and spraying the hall, but did nothing to stop it. Phone didn’t work so had to go to the lobby to complain, but nothing was done. Room was dirty, lots of long term residents hanging out. Was a last minute stay with no other available rooms elsewhere.

Convenient to main roads and restaurants, sightseeing etc. May have had permanent residents but ok.

Kids making noise next door, run down hotel that has seen better days. Warning signs all over about locking your car, not responsible for theft. This place was sketchy. It was cheap, but likely would not stay here again.

All the staff was nice. Room was very clean. Easy to get on and off the highways. Only negative was that the area around the motel has seen better days.

This neighborhood is not good. Lots of drugged out people outside the hotel. The hallway smelled like weed. Asked to be on same floor as group I traveled with and was told there was no open rooms on first floor, even though I was assured there was when I called earlier in the day. All of a sudden there was an open room after my group all went together to complain. This was the most disgusting hotel. I was in town for a horse show. Luckily all I did was sleep and shower at this hotel. Lots of creepy men lurking about. Felt unsafe. Grounds were disgusting. Trash everywhere and broken plates. I’ll never stay at this hotel again!

Easy off and on Interstate 55.

Filthy and dilapidated.. dirty diaper, cans, and trash in the parking lot, inside hasn’t been painted in forever. Surprisingly the room was neat and appeared clean, but I had no hot water, and when asking staff, I got nowhere. Checked out a day early. Most places would compensate, but not a word mentioned. The area around the place is surrounded by out of business shops.. I didn’t feel safe. Propped a chair under my door at night. Noisy staff all through the night! Save your money.

The property itself needed care. The back door where I was told to enter and exit, did not have a locking mechanism and stayed open 24 hours a day. There appeared to be a homeless man, and another man selling goods out of his car late at night. I was traveling alone and honestly felt a little bit afraid. The check-in staff was fine the room was clean. I just didn’t feel very safe.

Clean, comfortable, no frills hotel. Great for a quick trip. The only thing that would have made my stay nicer was coffee in the lobby or a coffee maker on the room.

A good clean place to stay overnight. No frills or breakfast in the morning but close to plenty of restaurants. Lots of travelling laborers staying there and pretty quiet and safe feeling.

The room was clean and open, the shower/tub combo looked brand new. I took a great bubble bath! There is plenty of food within walking distance, Cracker Barrel, McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway. Plus there are vending machines with drinks and snacks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is very basic. Had to ask for shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and desk attendant had trouble finding and needed to call someone. Said the hotel usually doesn’t supply these items. Small bar of soap and no hairdryer. During stay the ice machine and laundry facilities were out of order. Quiet location off the highway. Bed comfortable. Room had odor and floors felt grimy

Basic but clean. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was updated. No issues in the room. They offer coffee in the morning. Suited our needs well and the price was right.

Good inexpensive hotel, restaurants close by (Cracker Barrel, Taco Bell, Wendys, McDonalds) and close to highway

Did not supply shower soaps, they were for sell in the lobby vending. No breakfast not even a grab and go
